Around 100,000 Lebanese refugees have fled to Syria, UN says

Over 1,000 Lebanese people have been killed and 6,000 wounded since Israel intensified cross-border attacks in southern Lebanon and Beirut, according to the Lebanese health authorities.

00:17medical support to those arriving at border crossing points, and shelters have been set

00:22up near the Syrian capital of Damascus.

00:27But the situation is far from sustainable, with Syria suffering its own severe humanitarian

00:32crisis triggered by the outbreak of civil war in 2011.

00:37Meanwhile, the first Bulgarian citizens who wished to be evacuated from Lebanon arrived

00:43at Sofia airport on Monday evening, after boarding a flight from Beirut on a government

00:49plane.

00:50However, many still remain, with only around 160 Bulgarian citizens out of 400 declaring

00:57their wish to be evacuated.

01:02Bulgaria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it's actively working to ensure the full evacuation

01:06of all those who have requested to leave the territory.
