08:43and number three my name is buzz marcus once again panel could you follow along as i read this
08:51affidavit i buzz marcus am a race car driver and a leading proponent of gasahol as an alternative
08:58fuel for automobiles gasahol is a blend of gasoline and alcohol and although serious interest in it has
09:04been quite recent gasahol has been around for 50 years it is no cheaper than gasoline but gasahol gives
09:10cars more power is less polluting and best of all the alcohol in gasahol can be distilled from
09:16plentiful products such as sugar cane wheat corn and timber not only is it is this homegrown fuel
09:22good for your car but also it can reduce america's oil consumption by some 10 billion gallons a year
09:28signed buzz marcus
09:43buzz has a lot of friends out there in our studio audience today panel these three gentlemen all
09:47claim to be gasahol expert buzz marcus let's start the questioning with our own fuel efficient person
09:51fanny flag absolutely uh number one um i uh i wanted to talk you you are an exponent of uh
09:58gasahol i
09:59have used it myself in my car unfortunately i had to take my car to aa but um i wanted
10:05to know if you
10:05knew the name what's the woman of the famous woman race driver janet guthrie absolutely uh she says uh
10:14number two uh how expensive is gas gasahol compared to uh regular gasoline compared to regular inlet it's
10:21about four cents a gallon more more yes i see uh number three um can you use this on the
10:28racetracks or is
10:29this just for uh cars you can use it in any car any car do you have to convert a
10:33car right now or can you
10:34just put it in your own car you can put it in your own car why what is the reason
10:38you think that uh
10:38that the government hasn't pushed this uh there's large oil companies that aren't really pushing
10:44and we go to super sales yes uh number one when do you think this will be on the market
10:49that they
10:50will create a demand for it we're on the market to the tune of 7 000 stations carrying it i
10:55supply 1500
10:56number two how is it is it like unleaded gasoline yes gasahol is unleaded and it can be in regular
11:02oh is that right uh number three when did you uh uh invent this i started marketing distributing in 78
11:09uh and number one did you use corn or what is that supposed to be the prime yeah i buy
11:16from arch
11:17daniels midland publicer and they use corn uh-huh number two will that make the corn prices go up on
11:23the market or what no the corner has been relatively stable there's plenty of product in the country
11:27uh-huh number three do you have a lobby in washington working for this for you there is lobbyists
11:33yes uh number one have you been offered uh by any of the other you know oil and gasoline companies
11:40to buy you out and forget about it we've had a number of offers and let's go to peggy cass
11:45uh number three as a race car driver what kind of races do you drive in the imsa circuit the
11:51imsa you'll
11:52have to tell me what that is international motorsport association number two what kind of a car do you
11:56drive a porsche 935 twin turbo oh just like paul newman uh now number one i read the gas no
12:03i didn't
12:03read i read on the pump in a gas station where i go in the summer it's 10 cents more
12:08than than the
12:08unleaded i mean you said it was only somebody said it was only four cents but 10 cents is quite
12:12a
12:12difference it must not be a station i supply oh i'm sure not some bum station of course uh now
12:19number
12:19three why do you no they asked number two why are the oil companies against it i mean they'll still
12:24be
12:24able to they could make it as well they can but they don't have any manufacturing facilities and
12:29they don't like anybody taking 10 of their business away thank you no number one didn't hitler have
12:33some sort of a phony gasoline he used pure alcohol in the panzers towards the end of the war and
12:40and
12:40and we go to bill kellen staying with you number two in what form is gas a hall bought you
12:45just drive
12:45up to the gas a hall pump if you need 10 gallons and have 10 gallons of that put in
12:49that's correct it's
12:50pre-mixed and you buy it i see it is pre-mixed now number one then if there is a
12:54gas a hall station
12:55in my neighborhood i can put gas a hall in in lieu of gas yes can i mix it with
13:00the existing gas in my
13:01tank yeah you can will it will it break the california law about the we have to have the
13:06catalytic converters out there is it legal to use no it won't hurt your converters and it'll burn cleaner
13:10so when i go home i can buy gas a home put in there is that right mix it right
13:14here number three uh
13:15does it increase my mileage i know you said it makes it burn clearer but does it help the mileage
13:20it does help the mileage and number two is what causes a valve knock in a car uh pinging is
13:26from
13:26too low of octane uh-huh do you go along with that number one yeah and gas all is also
13:30high octane fuel
13:31thank you l says time is up panel now it's time to vote it's gonna be tough for number one
13:36we're all good number two or number three whoever in your opinion is the real buzz marcus
13:42the ballots all mark panel fanny who did you vote for well i'll tell you they're pretty cagey
13:48around here and they dressed one man up number one to try to fool me and i'm gonna vote for
13:54him
13:57okay and soupy who got your vote they didn't dress up number two and he still fooled me but i
14:03think uh they were all marvelous and uh i voted for number two okay peggy who got your vote uh
14:10i voted for number two you know my husband let me buy because he says it's 10 cents more a
14:15gallon
14:15but now that i've met you i'm just gonna insist and bill cullen who got your vote i got a
14:20terrific
14:20valve ping in my car so whatever whoever it is i'm gonna go home and buy some and i voted
14:25for number
14:26two thank you all the votes are all in now we're gonna find out which of these gentlemen is the
14:30gas
14:30hall advocate will the real buzz marcus please stand up
14:50well certainly you're a terrific team of imposters i mean you all sound like you really know what you're
14:54talking about number one could you tell us please your name and what you really do my name is george
14:57prinkerhoff and i'm with ping weber special accounts oh thank you thank you and number three
15:06could you tell us your name and what you do please my name is james balsley i'm a landscape architect
15:11and
15:11urban designer i'd like to ask a question um where can people for instance buy gas a hall if it's
15:20not
15:20available where they live where could they go and get it well we're all in 36 states right now but
15:26my
15:26company markham industries in glenside uh is where you usually go to try to set up stations this is
15:31obviously a growing thing is it it's getting much bigger it's only been about a real year of
15:35promotion it's growing all over the country and doing very well and for peggy cass i drove with
15:39paul newman last year at watkins glen oh yeah okay uh gentlemen there was one incorrect vote giving
15:45you a hundred dollars to spend wildly with abandon here and uh it's been a gas thank you for joining
15:50us on
15:50to tell the truth panel we are back to play one-on-one and here are four people that you
16:11have met before
16:20now panel you of course remember george and james who pretended to be the gas haul expert and
16:26distributor and you remember kathy davis and lynn who pretended to be the coast guard commander now you
16:30do know something about these people there's one fact about one of them that we have withheld from
16:35you until right now one of these four people is a professional boxer and it's up to you to find
16:40out
16:40which one and you will go about it by questioning the person sitting directly opposite you for 20
16:45seconds end of that time you'll be asked to cash your vote there and then as to whether that person
16:49in fact is a professional boxer we will pay a hundred dollars for each incorrect vote and four
16:53incorrect votes will give our team of challengers the grand sum of five hundred dollars and panel are
