00:02Come in.
00:14Hi, I'm Mina. I'm here to interview for the management position I saw online.
00:19Hi, Mina. Thank you so much for coming in.
00:21Hello.
00:22I'm just wrapping up something here. Just give me one sec, okay?
00:32Um, so, should I just start telling you about myself?
00:37Actually, I thought I'd ask the questions. Just give me one more second, okay?
00:42Fine, I'll wait.
00:44Appreciate it.
00:49Okay, great. Thanks for waiting. So you're here for the management position?
00:54I am.
00:55Did you bring your resume?
00:57No. I submitted it when I applied online. I thought you would have read it by now.
01:02Well, we usually ask our candidates to bring our copy, but it's okay.
01:07How about let's just start off talking about your experience?
01:11Well, I have extensive restaurant experience, and I am ready to move up to the next level.
01:17Restaurant experience?
01:19Mm-hmm.
01:20Well, that's not really relevant to this position. What do you do there?
01:24Well, um, I'm a hostess, and I greet the guests, and I make sure they have clean water, a clean
01:31table, and I attend to their every need.
01:34It's very heavy responsibility.
01:36Hmm. Sure it is. And how long have you been there?
01:41About six months.
01:43Six months, and you're ready to move up out of there.
01:46Exactly.
01:47Okay.
01:49Okay.
01:49Well, this job has very different responsibilities.
01:55You've been managing client needs, making recommendations, supervising junior team members, data analysis.
02:05Mm-hmm.
02:06It just doesn't seem like you have that experience level.
02:12Not enough experience?
02:14Didn't I just tell you that I manage guests every need?
02:18At the restaurant all day.
02:20You know, it's really rough to manage the entire front house by yourself.
02:25You work there all by yourself.
02:27Well, of course there's other people that work there, but without me, that place will definitely fall apart.
02:35If there's no one to be able to sit people, then nobody will get their food.
02:40And, you know, I am essential.
02:44Yes.
02:46I'm sure that you would be very difficult to replace.
02:49I would be.
02:50However, as I said before, this job has very different responsibilities.
02:59I don't think that you're a good fit for that role, but I do have a receptionist position available.
03:06It's a great ground level role.
03:08You can learn the ropes from there, and if you do well there, then maybe one day you can move
03:15into management.
03:19Receptionist?
03:20A receptionist position?
03:22You mean like answering the phones and getting coffee?
03:28No, thank you.
03:29I'm trying to move up from that.
03:34Transparently, that's not one that usually accomplishes it within six months in a position.
03:41And that's true whether you're working in an office or a restaurant.
03:45It takes time and hard work to achieve one's goals.
03:52Look, I don't need a lecture from you or for you to offer me a position that I'm obviously too
03:58good for.
03:59Okay?
03:59If you can respect what I can bring to...
04:06Gleam Industries?
04:08Yes, I didn't forget.
04:10Just that I've been interviewing all day, all over, and I'm sure I will be getting a callback anytime now.
04:18A callback?
04:19Mm-hmm.
04:19You mean second interview?
04:21A callback is what an actor goes to after their first audition?
04:26Whatever, it's the same thing.
04:29Of course.
04:30Look, man, it's really nice meeting you, and I wish you the best in your endeavors.
04:35That's it?
04:37That's it?
04:38After my big speech, you're not going to offer me something better?
04:42No.
04:44Look, I told you that we don't have a fit for you.
04:49Look, Mina.
04:51Please.
04:51Yes.
04:52Come in.
04:54Hi, I'm Rosa.
04:56Oh, I can...
04:57I didn't mean to interrupt.
04:58I can move outside.
04:59No, come in.
04:59Come in.
04:59Her?
05:00You're interviewing her now?
05:02Yes.
05:04Look, I've seen her at my restaurant, and she doesn't even know how to dress or tip.
05:11Just so you know.
05:14Have a great day, Mina.
05:21I'm so sorry about that.
05:24Please, come in.
05:26It's all right.
05:27I tried to give her a bit of advice myself, and I don't think she took it well.
05:35It's funny you say that, because I just try to do the same thing, and let's just say that she's
05:40got a lot to learn before she moves up anyway.
05:41But hey, let's move on.
05:44Yeah.
05:45Aw.
05:47You know, I gotta say, I was really excited when I heard there was an open position here.
05:51Gleam has been a dream job of mine to work for, and openings don't come around very often.
05:56Thank you for understanding that.
06:00Well, your experience is spot on.
06:04It's exactly what we're looking for.
06:06Management, client relations, data analysis.
06:10It's been really hard for me to find someone that's experienced in all three of those.
06:15And we've been in a bind.
06:18How soon can you start?
06:20Right away.
06:21Unfortunately, my current employer has been reducing hours, so I'm not even so sure how much longer they're gonna be
06:27around, so.
06:28Uh, yes.
06:31Heard about that.
06:32It's tough times.
06:33You know, it is.
06:34But I've made some great connections along the way, and everyone just wants to kind of move on from right
06:39now.
06:40They did tell me they can give me a really strong reference if need be.
06:45That's great.
06:47You know, it sounds like you really value being a part of a team, and that it sounds like you
06:55really value putting your client's needs first, and that is essential to us.
07:00Absolutely.
07:01I feel that it's, as long as you can get your team to feel that they're important, your client will
07:06also feel valued.
07:08I couldn't agree more.
07:12Well, I know that this has been a short interview, but we would love to have you on board.
07:20Why don't you come back on Monday so I can give you a full tour and show you your new
07:25office?
07:26How's that sound?
07:26That sounds great.
07:27Thank you so much.
07:28You're more than welcome.
07:29And I'll also set up a meeting with HR, so that we can get that ball rolling, because I'm sure
07:35that you know that we have a great benefits package, as well as excellent health insurance.
07:40Great.
07:41You're welcome.
07:42I look forward to working with you.
07:44Same.
07:45Thank you so much.
07:46You're welcome.
07:48Have a great day.
07:49You too.
07:50Bye, Rosa.
08:13Hi.
08:15Yes, this is Rosa Williams.
08:19I just wanted to call and tell you that I've started a new job and I would like to resume
08:23my treatment right away.
08:27Yes, next Saturday?
08:30Yes, that works.
08:32Thank you so much.
08:33I'll see you then.
