West Midlands venues share major arts funding boost

Thirteen cultural organisations in the West Midlands will receive a share of government funding aimed at improving access and facilities. The investment is part of a wider national programme supporting arts venues, museums and libraries across England.

00:13for communities that may not engage with art and heritage activities.

00:18Thirteen organisations in the region are included in the allocation,

00:23among them libraries run by Wolverhampton Council, the Black Country Living Museum in Dudley

00:28and the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon.

00:32The funding comes through the Government's Arts Everywhere Fund

00:36and is administered by Arts Council England on behalf of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport.

00:43It forms part of a scheme supporting 130 organisations across England with capital investment.

00:50Money can be used for building projects, upgrades to technology and changes intending to improve accessibility,

00:56with funding divided between different strands covering theatres and venues, museum estates and development,

01:04and library services seeking refurbishment and modernisation across the region for audiences.
