00:00Mr Speaker, let me spell that out. That means we're spending £270 billion over this Parliament.
00:07That's £5 billion more this year, with defence funding increasing every year.
00:12These are record amounts, Mr Speaker, decisions of a Labour Prime Minister, a Labour Chancellor and a Labour Government.
00:20And what a contrast. When they came into office, defence spending was 2.5%.
00:25When they left, it was 2.3%.
00:30When they came into office, the army was 100,000.
00:33When they left office, 72,000.
00:38They cut frigates and destroyers by 25%.
00:43They cut mine hunters by 50%.
00:48She said at the weekend, our defence is the weakest for 400 years.
00:52That is what they left behind.
00:56Mr Speaker, he's talking about the biggest sustained increase.
01:00Talking about an increase is not the same as giving an increase.
01:05The military and the defence industry want to hear about what he's going to do, not him prosecuting past governments.
01:11That's the surprise for everybody here.
01:11That's what I poss FC support these movements.
