Thousands of young people will be trained for roles in clean energy and technology as new specialist colleges expand across the UK. The scheme aims to address skills shortages and support future growth in key industries.

00:09The scheme includes Capital City College Group and South Bank College, alongside 17 other technical excellence colleges receiving funding across

00:19aimed at boosting skills in advanced manufacturing, renewables, defence, digital technology and AI,
00:27with ministers saying that almost 600,000 extra workers will be needed by the year 2030,
00:33and that the colleges will help young people into jobs and support businesses facing skills shortages,
00:40while also contributing to net-zero goals and home retrofit programmes.
