00:00Thousands of young people will be trained for jobs in clean energy and technology through new government-backed specialist colleges.
00:09The scheme includes Capital City College Group and South Bank College, alongside 17 other technical excellence colleges receiving funding across
00:18the country,
00:19aimed at boosting skills in advanced manufacturing, renewables, defence, digital technology and AI,
00:27with ministers saying that almost 600,000 extra workers will be needed by the year 2030,
00:33and that the colleges will help young people into jobs and support businesses facing skills shortages,
00:40while also contributing to net-zero goals and home retrofit programmes.
