A Texas man was charged with hurling a Molotov cocktail at the home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and attempting to set fire to the AI firm's headquarters. Daniel Moreno-Gama, 20, was captured on surveillance video throwing an incendiary device outside Altman's San Francisco residence, according to a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit filed in federal court on Monday (April 13). The U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California, Craig Missakian, said his office filed the charges. - REUTERS

00:00Earlier today, my office filed federal charges against Daniel Moreno-Gama,
00:04the individual who is suspected of traveling to San Francisco from Texas
00:08in order to kill the CEO of a major AI company.
00:12As alleged in the federal complaint, in the early morning hours of April 10th,
00:17Mr. Moreno-Gama traveled to two neighboring residences in San Francisco owned by the CEO.
00:24He allegedly approached the residences through a Molotov cocktail that caused a fire
00:29and then fled.
00:31He then went to the headquarters of the AI company, attempted to break the glass doors
00:36of the building with a chair, and said that he had come to burn down the location
00:40and kill everyone inside.
00:43SFPD gratefully promptly responded.
00:46They found the incendiary devices, kerosene, a lighter, and a document that Mr. Moreno
00:53had apparently authored.
00:54This document contained views opposed to AI and AI executives
00:59and reflected that the author had killed or attempted to kill the CEO.
