00:00On Good Friday, a passion play took place north of Manila.
00:06But 65-year-old Ruben Inahe, who played Jesus Christ,
00:11had more recent Middle Eastern history on his mind while carrying the cross.
00:18Even under the sweltering heat, just like others,
00:21we are praying for an end to the conflict in the Middle East.
00:24That is what I prayed for while I was on the cross.
00:26The whole world is being affected by what has been happening.
00:30The reenactment came as the conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran entered its second month.
00:37About 80% of Filipinos identify as Roman Catholics.
00:41And the annual Kutu Village Passion Play is among the most extreme expressions of that faith.
00:47Each year, men like Inahe volunteer to be nailed to a cross in a dramatic show of devotion,
00:53drawing both local and international spectators.
00:56I must say, every year it gets more and more spectacular,
01:01and I would say closer to God each year.
01:04And it's always great to see that.
01:06And only in the Philippines can you experience something like this.
01:11A true show driven by true faith.
01:14The reenactments are part of Holy Week, which concludes on Easter Sunday, April 5th.
01:21It's one of the most sacred periods in the Philippine religious calendar.

Religion is Psychology. Nothing in the Bible of use to me. No need for it. I'm a leader, not a follower. Followers need guidance for their lack of intelligence. The Bible can't help me fix my computer. Learning liberates, not religion. Religion is a quick-fix for ignorance, a fantasy only true in one's own mind. How can a person not inherently know the difference between right and wrong? I can think for myself.

As a 10-year-old kid in a Roman Catholic church, I heard this twisted story. Some omniscient being torturing his Son for MY Sins? I'd never consent to that. Talking snakes? The parting of water? Angles and Demons battling in the heavens? These are supposed to be grown adults. I thought they were absolutely crazy and stupid. Don't put your face and race to religion. That is arrogant, self-aggrandizement. I believe in a universal God that loves all equally. The teachings of Jesus? Not needed.
