00:04:42so about approximately an hour ago we had an armed robbery in which the victims were shot at
00:04:48following the robbery and then while working that armed robbery they observe a bullet hole to an
00:04:54unrelated trailer make contact and they discover the deceased in the back bedroom
00:05:01it happened here in front of 12. so here you can see is where we have the entry of the
00:05:11bullet
00:05:12and then on the other side of this wall is our decedent

00:05:2437 year old eriberto martinez martinez came to the u.s 20 years ago from oaxaca mexico in search
00:05:31of better job opportunities he worked construction and was packed to move to a new job site in north
00:05:36carolina in the morning he leaves behind a large family including his brother and brother's family
00:05:43in north charleston and his parents and three other siblings back home in mexico
00:05:51the bullet struck him in his facial area while he was sleeping the shot killed eriberto instantly
00:05:59where you see the crowd of people is a general area in which the armed robbery victims were
00:06:03when the shooting took place they were at the back corner of their trailer when approximately four
00:06:10what they described as black males approached them demanded their items and as they were fleeing
00:06:15the suspect shot there were several shell casings out here that was collected by patrol the four
00:06:22casings were covered are all nine millimeter
00:06:28where the armed robbery happened a trailer has video cameras bravo is helping download the video
00:06:36we need to do interviews with the victims once the video is downloaded i'm gonna have him take my
00:06:41victims to city hall and bravo is gonna sit down with each one and we're gonna have one translation of
00:06:47what happened bush and malone are there and i let them know you're coming with three thank you bravo
00:07:04i'm hoping they got a good description in clothing or there's something distinct on one of the
00:07:09individuals that committed the robbery that we can identify and hopefully with that we'll be able to

00:07:33so said they were hanging out drinking beer there were four that came somewhere from like behind the

00:07:59he says the man who pointed the gun at him wore a black mask and two others also wore masks

00:08:46and nothing and then he starts going through your pockets he says the suspect stole his keys phone and
00:08:54wallet and then moved on to his friend so the guy with the black mask after he took his phone

00:08:59everything the black mask went to start searching the other victim victim number two but was it the same one

00:13:41we have some areas of interest we can look for video surveillance might help us id them a little better
00:13:46there's some apartments here that look good so we have some things to do but at least we have a

00:14:12they can divvy up and hit the ground running in the morning this is a completely innocent victim he was
00:14:19literally sleeping in his bed after a long day's work i mean it's horrible um and it also sucks because

00:14:57all right so this happened last night um i know the patrol responded at 21 50 hours
00:15:02there's uh three victims that were robbed they said that four males robbed them and then they fire
00:15:09shots backwards as they're running off victim was sleeping in his trailer and got hit by gunfire
00:15:15they run towards this pond and that's where you lose them from the camera
00:15:19i imagine if you're going to take a car you've got to go out facet road on up you got
00:15:22to go left on
00:15:23stall or right on stall we need to see if there's any video that we can obtain
00:15:27they actually have good video on the second building in that apartment complex also sergeant
00:15:33bailey was saying um somebody ran they found a broken fence
00:15:40so it could have been him jumping the fence into the park complex
00:15:46i agree i think the main thing right now is just getting as much footage from the surrounding area as
00:15:50possible and see what we got whether it's vehicle leaving or they're staying on foot and running

00:16:04so i came in this morning and noticed the night shift um call team responded to this

00:17:13according to someone in the building there have been complaints about two young men
00:17:17on the second floor one of the males was sitting in this kia yesterday stolen out of city the
00:17:24ignitions popped then they could be our bad guys dogs tracked back here making some possibility yeah
00:17:35i had a still shot of the uh suspects from our surveillance camera for the shooting
00:17:40he picked out two from the the four individuals detective david pritchard showed the video image to the
00:17:46tipster he said that he thinks the two in the middle are the two sons that live in this apartment
00:17:52they may be our guys we're gonna do a knock and talk reference to that stolen car
00:17:58see if it has anything to do with our homicide
00:18:17detectives bring out a woman and her two teenage sons
00:18:24came up here and knocked on the door they opened a door wreaked the marijuana so we pulled everybody
00:18:30for investigative detention now we're gonna get a search warrant type for the residents for anything
00:18:36related to the incident what are we doing hey listen to what they see and calm down i'm their mom
00:18:46maybe these kids were involved in the incident let's see
00:19:00i wonder if there's a way we can downplay it and say some items were stolen let's get those items

00:22:47trailer park's on stall some hispanics were robbed and in the process there were um some individuals
00:22:53that shot at a trailer and um we arrived on cm found a male deceased who was sleeping in this

00:23:01um those subjects then ran towards the apartments of where y'all are staying and one of your sons were
00:23:09in the kia just sitting there and there have been a number of kias stolen from the area do you

00:23:15any reason why either one of your sons would be inside that kia they shouldn't be listen i work from
00:23:23in the morning because they were that night just now i really see my kids sometimes i work and bring
00:23:30what i got a goal to accomplish i don't want this for them i want better now i can tell

00:23:37gonna lie for my kids what they've been home yesterday now if they just broke in that car then
00:23:43they got to deal with the consequences yeah there's no reason for them to have to do anything like this
