00:00A promising career as the head coach of University of Michigan's storied Wolverines football team,
00:05leading the school's program to a 16-8 record during his two seasons coaching,
00:09and a stunning victory in the Reliaquest Bowl against Alabama,
00:13all thrown away after being sentenced to 18 months probation.
00:17On charges related to busting into his mistress's apartment after getting fired and threatening to kill himself.
00:23What happened to Sharon Moore, the now disgraced ex-Michigan football coach whose illicit tryst led to a shocking arrest?
00:30In December 2025, college football fans were shocked when the University of Michigan announced it was firing its football team's
00:36head coach, Sharon Moore,
00:38after they found, quote, credible evidence that the coach had been involved in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
00:44The bombshell news came just days after Moore had spoken with reporters as the Wolverines began to prepare for the
00:49Citrus Bowl,
00:49though reporting suggested the situation had been percolating for a few weeks.
00:54Even before his shocking firing, the state of Moore's mental health was being eyed with growing concern within the university.
01:00According to college football reporter Pete Thamel, sources said that Moore had been acting strange in the lead-up to
01:06his axing
01:06and had been, quote, berating assistant coaches and not acting in a normal way.
01:11But the 40-year-old married dad of three's firing was only the beginning of his downward spiral.
01:16Within the same hour after being booted from his storied football position,
01:19the coach was busted on criminal charges for breaking into the home of his mistress, Paige Shiver,
01:25where he grabbed butter knives and kitchen scissors from a drawer and threatened to kill himself.
01:29Prosecutors said Moore told Shiver,
01:31I'm going to kill myself. I'm going to make you watch. My blood is on your hands. You ruined my
01:36life.
01:36Moore was initially charged with felony home invasion and a pair of misdemeanors, stalking and breaking and entering.
01:43911 audio also captured Moore's wife Kelly, who has stood by him through the scandal,
01:48telling an emergency dispatcher she was worried her husband was going to commit suicide after being fired from his job.
01:54My husband, I'm worried that my husband's going to hurt himself.
01:58And I need, I need you, can you guys track his phone?
02:02Okay, why do you think he's trying to hurt himself?
02:05Because he said that to me.
02:07Okay, what did he say specifically?
02:09He said he's trying to, he said he's trying to kill himself.
02:13Okay, where is he?
02:14I don't have a clue.
02:16Okay, where was he?
02:17He just called me and said he got fired from his job.
02:18And he's, he's in crisis.
02:21He's in crisis and I told him that I, I told him that I love him and that I need
02:24him to come home.
02:25Body cam video from the day of Moore's arrest captured the disgraced coach, inconsolable and in tears,
02:31as he was handcuffed and ushered into the back of a police car.
02:35Hey coach.
02:37How we doing?
02:39Tough day.
02:40Tough day.
02:41We got you though.
02:44Shiver, Moore's executive assistant, had deep ties to the sports world as the daughter of a veteran Chicago Bears scout.
02:51She joined the University of Michigan as an administrative specialist within the athletic department for the 2022-2023 school year
02:58and was later promoted to her executive assistant role.
03:02Prosecutors said the pair had been in an intimate relationship for a number of years.
03:06Four months after the scandal thrust her into the national spotlight,
03:09the 32-year-old left her position in the Wolverine's athletic department after her contract expired.
03:14According to her lawyer, Shiver broke up the pair's affair two days before Moore stormed into her apartment.
03:20The embattled coach allegedly bombarded his ex-mistress with calls and texts for two days,
03:25which led to Shiver informing the school of the affair.
03:28In court, Shiver's lawyer claimed Moore allegedly had a long history of domestic violence against his mistress,
03:34though court records don't provide any additional detail on the prior domestic violence allegations.
03:39But in a shocking turn of events in March, the exiled coach's more serious charges of felony home invasion,
03:45misdemeanor stalking, and misdemeanor breaking and entering were dropped after Moore agreed to a plea deal.
03:52In March, the ex-coach pleaded no contest to malicious use of a telecommunications device
03:57in context of a domestic relationship and one count of trespass.
04:01The exiled coach was released on bond following his arrest,
04:05but was ordered to wear a tracking device ahead of his sentencing.
04:08Moore was sentenced on April 14th to 18 months probation,
04:12a far cry from the five years he was facing for his original top charge of home invasion.
