00:18the Knights of Rizal,
00:31Magandang umaga po and welcome to Rise and Shine, Pilipinas.
00:33Good morning.
00:34Good morning, Rise and Shine.
00:36Yes, Rise and Shine. Welcome back, Dr. Berman.
00:39And welcome to the Philippines.
00:40Welcome to RSV, sir.
00:42Alright, let's talk about the International Summit.
00:44Yesterday, nagsimula na po ito.
00:46So, Dr. Aragon, tell us the highlights of this summit.
00:48Well, basically, this is an international summit
00:52na naka-concentrate into the development of agricultural cooperatives
00:58in Asia and the Pacific.
01:00The summit really went well yesterday.
01:04And the most important thing is naka-identify sila
01:08ng isang project na doable and sustainable
01:11na kailangan ng Pilipinas.
01:14And basically, our guests here will be explaining
01:17this particular project.
01:19Pero I know, Diane, that you're very familiar
01:22with this project, the children's first 1,000 days.
01:25First 1,000 days, mahalaga yan, sir.
01:26For the child stunting.
01:27So, your advocacy, na maiwasan ng stunting.
01:30And remember, in our past activities,
01:32one of the major proposal natin
01:35to address brain stunting because of malnutrition
01:38is milk.
01:39So, then, they are like our friend here, Dr. Sarup,
01:46is the head and founder of one of the biggest
01:51cooperatives in India, the UNATI Federation.
01:55And of course, we have General Lianto,
01:59who is the head of a local cooperative here
02:03in the Philippines.
02:04And we're talking about milk.
02:06So, napag-usapan, napag-usapan kahapon
02:09na bakit hindi sila mag-identify
02:12ng isang project sa Pilipinas
02:14that the foreign cooperatives
02:17can help the local cooperatives.
02:19And I think they have identified
02:22the dairy industry,
02:23which is the local production of milk
02:27that ultimately will benefit
02:30na gagamitin ng programa, ng milk program.
02:32Doon sa malnutrition to prevent
02:35brain stunting ultimately.
02:37So, maybe we can talk to our guests
02:39and explain, sila siguro mag-explain
02:44kung paano nila gawin ito
02:45to develop, to help develop
02:47a local milk industry
02:49that's gonna be used
02:50to fight malnutrition among children.
02:53All right, well, for Mr. Yoti,
02:55what are we expecting to get
02:57from this International Stakeholder Summit?
02:59And how can we execute this,
03:01I mean, penetrating the dairy industry
03:04here in the Philippines?
03:06See, thank you, Philippines,
03:08first of all, for calling me
03:09here in this program.
03:12NEDEAC is working for the networking
03:14of all agriculture cooperatives.
03:16And specially, the objective is
03:19the livelihood of the farmers,
03:21food security.
03:23And these are the objectives
03:25of NEDEAC.
03:26And we are networking
03:28all the Asia-Pacific countries
03:30specifically.
03:31And India is leading.
03:33And the cooperative sector
03:35in India is now
03:36in, you can say,
03:38in the developing stage.
03:40And some parts,
03:41specially the dairy industry
03:43is highly developed industry.
03:44And we have one of the biggest
03:47dairy cooperative called Amul.
03:49And Amul recently
03:51had did the turnover
03:53of 1 trillion Indian rupees.
03:55And the dairy sector
03:58played a very vital role
04:00in the development
04:01of the farmer livelihood
04:02as well as eradicating
04:04the malnutrition
04:05from the country also.
04:07Milk is the holistic food.
04:10It's a food which
04:11is providing each and everything.
04:13And milk,
04:15if it is consumed
04:16by the population,
04:17it gives the livelihood
04:18to the farmer also.
04:20Not in terms of
04:22just for selling milk,
04:23but the allied industries
04:25also like
04:26fodder production
04:28for the milk
04:28and bringing the right
04:31kind of breeds,
04:33the veterinary industry.
04:34And lot of scope
04:37is there for development
04:38development of the farm
04:39and allied sectors
04:41in the country.
04:42And we,
04:43India has
04:44the very good experiences
04:45and through NIDAC,
04:47all Asia-Pacific country
04:49and specifically India
04:50is ready to stage
04:51this experience
04:52and lead the,
04:54you can say,
04:56any program,
04:57any pilot,
04:58if both countries
05:00are ready to do
05:01on the dairy industry.
05:02Okay, well,
05:04General Rianto,
05:04I believe we can learn
05:05from the best practices
05:07ng India.
05:08Talas a little bit
05:09about an overview
05:10dito sa local industry
05:11natin ng gataas.
05:12At ano yung mga
05:13pwede nating collaboration
05:14siguro with India?
05:16I think we need
05:17all the help
05:17that we can
05:18because we import
05:20practically 98%
05:21of our dairy requirements.
05:23We only produce
05:24something like two
05:25and then it's inching up
05:27and then it goes down again.
05:28And then now
05:30the government
05:30is very bullish
05:32to promote
05:33the dairy industry
05:34under the Department
05:36of Agriculture
05:36and the National Dairy Authority
05:39and the Philippine Carabao Center
05:43also.
05:43So we have this
05:46milk feeding program
05:48although we have to look
05:49at the 1000 days
05:51that's the best,
05:52that would be the best program
05:54for the mother
05:55and for the children
05:56because we had a lot
05:58of stunting
05:58and it's a very prevalent
06:03phenomenon in country.
06:05So we have to address
06:07local production
06:08and we can take leave,
06:11we can take the assistance
06:14and study the growth
06:20of the dairy industry
06:21in India
06:22because they have
06:24very extensive network
06:25and they benefited
06:27the farmers
06:28as well as the population.
06:30May immersion nga daw sila
06:31sa Batangas,
06:32tama ba?
06:33Tell us more about that.
06:34You're going to some places.
06:36Soro-soro
06:37o Ibaan
06:38that's in
06:39Batangas City.
06:40Ah, okay.
06:41That's good.
06:41Well, going back to Dr. Ergon.
06:43Sir,
06:43gaano po kalaki yung potensya
06:44na nakikita natin
06:45in terms of dairy production
06:46dito sa ating bansa
06:47at sa market din?
06:49Alam mo, Diyos,
06:50ito masasabi ko,
06:51pahapon,
06:52nagkaroon ng
06:53Christmas in April
06:54because of the summit, no?
06:57Kasi kami,
06:58lahat ng advocates
06:58na on the
07:00Children's First
07:001,000 Days
07:01are really praying
07:02for this, no?
07:03Na magkaroon talaga tayo
07:05ng local source
07:06ng milk
07:06because we have seen
07:07that milk
07:08could be a major solution
07:10to malnutrition
07:11among children
07:12and of course mothers, no?
07:14So,
07:15with the cooperation
07:16of local
07:18dairy cooperatives,
07:20we're doing this thing, ha?
07:21because these people
07:22are cooperatives, no?
07:24So,
07:24through cooperativism,
07:26so,
07:26through cooperativism,
07:28ang mangyari dyan
07:28is makagawa tayo
07:31ng local milk
07:33na gagamitin natin
07:34for this program
07:36to fight brain stunting, no?
07:38Due to malnutrition.
07:40So,
07:40so,
07:40we're very happy
07:41about what happened yesterday
07:43and this is still
07:44work on progress, no?
07:46The local cooperatives
07:48and the cooperatives
07:50from India,
07:51from other Asian countries, no?
07:53Will be collaborating, no?
07:55We call it a C2C.
07:58Cooperative to cooperative.
08:00Parang B2B,
08:01parang B2B.
08:02This one is C2C.
08:03C2C.
08:03Wow.
08:04Then,
08:04ultimately,
08:05ang final na gusto namin dito,
08:07we start with a C2C
08:08so that we can
08:11encourage
08:12a G2G
08:13transaction
08:15on this particular thing
08:16because
08:17yun ang sinasabi namin
08:19whole-of-nation approach, no?
08:21So,
08:21the private sector
08:22and the government
08:23should go hand-in-hand
08:25to
08:25work together
08:27on a particular
08:28doable
08:29and sustainable product
08:30in the Children's First 1,000 Days
08:32na
08:34nakita ng mga members
08:36ng NEDAC.
08:37NEDAC is the
08:38network
08:39for the development
08:40of
08:40agriculture
08:41cooperatives
08:42in Asia and Pacific
08:43and that was
08:44the conference
08:44all about, no?
08:46So,
08:46para sa amin
08:47na mga
08:49supporter
08:49ng
08:51activities
08:52nila,
08:54again,
08:55Christmas
08:56in April,
08:57para sa amin.
08:58This is
08:59one of the best news,
09:00no?
09:01And
09:01ang
09:02parcel
09:02naging complete
09:03because of the
09:04cooperatives
09:05na papasok ngayon
09:06as part of
09:08the network.
09:08All right.
09:09Sabi mo nga,
09:10hitting so many birds
09:11in one storm
09:12with the summit.
09:13Ang daming matutugunan
09:14na problema
09:15at nandyan siyempre
09:16mga partners natin
09:18from other countries
09:18like India
09:19to help the Philippines
09:20out.
09:21Well,
09:22congratulations
09:22on the
09:24collaboration
09:25and of course
09:26we'd like to
09:27thank
09:27ang ating mga
09:28guests
09:29from NEDAC
09:30and marami
09:31pang magiging bunga
09:32itong international
09:33summit and conference.
09:34We'll still be here
09:35until the 18th.
09:36They'll go around
09:37and may immersions
09:38sa different
09:39cooperatives.
09:40So,
09:41ano talaga?
09:42Action.
09:43Well,
09:44for Mr. Yoti,
09:45your interest
09:45is highly appreciated
09:46here in our country.
09:48Looking forward
09:49for the collaborative
09:50projects
09:50that we will be doing
09:51with the Philippines
09:52through General Lanto.
09:54And thank you very much
09:54again sa ating
09:55mga bisita
