00:00The Bicameral Conference Committee agreed on October to hold the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or BARM Elections.

00:09This is Daniel Manalastax's report.

00:13The Bicameral Conference Committee agreed to postpone the BARM Elections for five months.

00:20The BARM Elections will be held in October 2025 instead of this upcoming May.

00:27Senate President Francis Escudero admitted that he has some sentiments if the postponement will take a year.

00:34It's been too long. Actually, my real reason, personally, I don't know the reason of others,

00:38if it will take a year, the Congress will be able to reset it.

00:42It's better for me if it will be shorter so that there will be no time to reset it again.

00:46The BARM Elections should continue.

00:49Senator J.V. Ejercito clarified that the Senate used the version of the Senate as a working draft

00:54but there are also provisions from the Camera.

00:57Not all of it is the version of the Senate that was followed.

01:02They made a compromise.

01:04In the House, it should be one year and then the term will be expired.

01:08They made an appointment for five months to send a version and holdover until after the elections.

01:19Yesterday, Senator Juan Miquel Zubiri explained his vote to approve the draft version of the Senate.

01:26That's why I just approved it so that we can talk about the draft version

01:33that will be given by Plebiscito in Sulu so that they can be included in the BARM.

01:39Give them a chance, one last chance to make that self-determination

01:44if they really want to be included in the BARM.

01:48It is also expected that the draft version of the law will be ratified by both sides.
