00:07My name is Alfred Pennyworth, and I have a story to tell.
00:11For many years in the city of New Gotham, a secret war raged by night.
00:17Unknown to the everyday world, a battle for the very heart of the city was waged between Batman and Joker.
00:25One night, the final battle was fought, and Joker lost.
00:30Joker's revenge was taken not on Batman himself, but on the ones he loved.
00:37Helena Kyle didn't know that her father was Batman, nor did she know that her mother had once been Catwoman.
00:48And Catwoman was the Joker's first victim.
00:51Mom, I can hear me, it's Helena.
00:54Mom, you have to, you have to, you have to hear me.
00:59Mom!
01:02Stop him!
01:04Somebody stop him!
01:06Somebody stop him!
01:09Mom!
01:12Mom!
01:13Helena Kyle's life was forever changed that dark night, but the Joker's revenge wasn't finished.
01:20Batman had trained many protégés over the years, and one of them was Barbara Gordon, who called herself Batgirl.
01:27Intelligence Police threatened suddenly's hella dead.
01:28The Joker had killed her death.
01:48Dad said he was born on team of the world, but he left theДртĐČ.
01:49Then he didn't go in the Ohio Warp.
01:49Who did the Joker only affect her under geez?
01:51Who do the Jokerown is that he has to accept it?
01:54That's enough to that he's going to killèș«, man.
02:08Dinah Lance was no more than a child, living far from New Gotham.
02:13She was stabbed!
02:15And the other one, he shot her!
02:18He saw her!
02:19She fell down, the floor went on the floor, and she...
02:23Hush.
02:24It was just a dream.
02:27We've talked about this.
02:29Whatever you think you see, it's all your imagination.
02:32None of it's real.
02:34Are you listening to me, Dinah?
02:35You didn't see anything.
02:37Did you?
02:39No, it is.
02:41But Dinah knew her visions would become her future.
02:45Don't be scared.
02:48And so, seven years later, our story begins as Dinah arrives in New Gotham
02:54to seek out her dreams and follow her destiny.
03:09To or from?
03:12Excuse me?
03:14Are you running away from something or to something?
03:21I'm not.
03:22I mean, I...
03:23No, it's...
03:24It's cool.
03:25You should be careful, though.
03:27It's a big city if you don't know anyone.
03:29Hey, I'm Jerry.
03:32Dinah.
03:34See?
03:34Now you know someone.
03:36Two.
03:38I'm running two.
03:41Or at least I hope so.
03:44There are a couple people in New Gotham that I sort of knew.
03:48Or knew about, anyway.
03:52Um, it's hard to explain.
03:54Well, do you think they're still in the city?
03:57I don't really know what happened to them.
04:12Barbara, right?
04:14Yes.
04:16Uh...
04:17The new guidance counselor, right?
04:19Right.
04:20Wade Brixton.
04:21We met during orientation.
04:23Never really got into Shakespeare.
04:25Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet.
04:26I mean, he's a glorious romantic, but...
04:29You know, lovers always end up dying.
04:32Not the ideal way to finish a date.
04:34Well, maybe you should try the comedies.
04:37People wandering around in disguises.
04:40Mistaking each other's identity, only to find each other and...
04:42Live happily ever after.
04:45Does that sound better?
04:46Definitely.
04:47I'm a sucker for happy endings.
04:51I, um...
04:52I could recommend a few of the plays.
04:53I bet you'd really like.
04:55That would be great.
04:56Yeah, okay.
04:59Could we do that over coffee?
05:02With me.
05:03Together.
05:04The two of us.
05:06Um...
05:07Are you asking me on a date?
05:09If I say yes, um...
05:12Would that get you to come?
05:15It might.
05:16Well, then, yes.
05:17Coffee, dinner, you name it.
05:20Wow, that, um...
05:21That sounds great.
05:24Sorry.
05:31Wait, I have to go.
05:33I'm sorry.
05:35Um, it's...
05:35It's kind of an emergency.
05:37Is everything okay?
05:38Yeah.
05:38Yeah, nothing serious.
05:39It's just something I need to take care of right now, so...
05:42Okay.
05:43Great.
05:43So, you'll let me know.
05:46Absolutely.
05:50Okay.
05:50Okay.
06:16Huntress, it's Oracle.
06:17Do you copy?
06:19You've gone offline again, haven't you?
06:22God, this is so like you.
06:23It's a transceiver, not a Walkman.
06:26Huntress.
06:28Huntress.
06:29You've been coming here for three months, Helena.
06:31You've barely said a word.
06:34Talk therapy works better when you actually speak.
06:38Court sent me here for anger management, right?
06:42Observe the managing.
06:44I'm cured.
06:46You're a genius.
06:48Besides, swiped two cars, flattened a stop sign, crashed a fire hydrant.
06:52I was in a hurry.
06:52And knocked out a security guard.
06:54I shoved him to get him out of the way.
06:57Barely even touched the guy.
06:58And why exactly were you in such a hurry?
07:01I don't know.
07:02I had things to do.
07:04I understand that whatever it was seemed urgent to you.
07:07No, you don't understand.
07:09You don't know me.
07:11You don't know anything about me.
07:13Let's just run the clock out here.
07:16All good.
07:20I do know that on this day, seven years ago, you watched your mother die.
07:27And a few months later, Barbara Gordon became your legal guardian.
07:29And there's no mention of your father.
07:33Because at the time, I didn't know who he was.
07:36But you do now?
07:40Bruce Wayne is my father.
07:43Your father is one of the wealthiest men in the country.
07:47And you move in with a school teacher?
07:50Bruce Wayne wasn't exactly father knows best.
07:58He didn't know he had a kid.
08:02Clueless is a radical understatement.
08:06Sounds like your relationship with your father is somewhat conflicted.
08:09What relationship?
08:12He didn't raise me.
08:13My mom did.
08:16I miss her.
08:18She.
08:20She was funny.
08:22Crazy and dangerous.
08:24And that one moment she was gone.
08:34That's when everything changed.
08:38I changed.
08:41Into what?
08:46Into someone maybe I wasn't meant to be.
09:00This is the dress.
09:05I'll see you tonight.
09:06Okay.
09:10It's going to be different here.
09:13I knew it.
09:14Oh, no.
09:31Don't move.
09:32Just lie still.
09:37You won't let them get me.
09:43Don't let them get me.
09:44Who's trying to get you?
09:54Come on!
09:54I didn't know what was beneath.
09:57Beneath.
09:58Felix.
10:17I can't really describe him.
10:18I never got a good look at his face.
10:20So you say this guy didn't push the victim.
10:23No, he wasn't anywhere near him.
10:25But.
10:26But.
10:27What?
10:28Miss.
10:29You saw something, didn't you?
10:30Yeah.
10:31You saw a guy on a bench.
10:33Come on, Mac.
10:39Listen, if you think of anything else at all, and I mean anything, you can reach me at this
10:43number, okay?
10:47Good night.
10:54What?
10:55We'll start.
10:56Start what?
10:57There's something prowling tonight, that's what.
11:00Of course not.
11:02This is just your basic normal guy freaks out, throws himself in front of a speeding vehicle
11:06for no reason case.
11:07Oh, it's totally routine.
11:09Is that sarcasm?
11:10Because you know I'm a sensitive man.
11:12Seriously, Reese, you've got to lay off the twilight zone.
11:16You guys are starting to talk.
11:19McNally, you hear the same story as I do.
11:21You see the same things we can't even begin to explain.
11:24Freaks.
11:25Weirdos.
11:25Urban myths.
11:26Myths are just the truth a few generations later.
11:31Come on, McNally.
11:33What are you so afraid of?
11:34Being seen with you.
11:36Getting carted off to the loony bin.
11:38I'm gonna make you a list.
11:40There's something going on in this city after the sun goes down.
11:43I intend to find out what it is.
11:52I've been calling for hours.
11:54Where have you been?
11:55That shrink thing, remember?
11:57Being punished for destroying city property while chasing your bad guy?
12:01Yeah, well, you know, you could have gone around the fire hydrant.
12:03Doesn't it ever bother you?
12:04We spend all our time trying to save the city, fighting crime words and supervillains.
12:09For what?
12:10Lousy hours, non-existent pay, no recognition and traffic tickets?
12:15What's the downside of having a secret identity?
12:17A secrecy.
12:19Anyway, I need you to go on sweep tonight.
12:20There's been another death.
12:21You mean another suicide.
12:22No, it's murder.
12:23Neither of these guys had any history of psychological illness.
12:26No reason to even consider suicide.
12:27Excuse me.
12:28Sorry.
12:30I'm telling you, there's something wrong here.
12:33I can feel it.
12:34Use your spider sense, Team Lee.
12:36Stop twitching and have a drink.
12:38Could you maybe focus here for just one second?
12:40I am focused.
12:41I'm focusing on why we do it.
12:42Why do we even bother?
12:45We do it because it's who we are.
12:51That shift's over anyway.
12:55Might be good for me to go kick some ass.
13:00Hey, baby, you wanna go out?
13:03You wanna go out, honey?
13:33You scared me.
13:36Um, I thought you were, you know...
13:40Dangerous?
13:41Um, well, it's kind of a weird place to have a party.
13:45One thing you learn about New Gotham, Dinah.
13:49Things are never what they seem.
13:56Oh, come on.
13:57Don't be scared, Dinah.
14:08The lady isn't interested.
14:15I was hoping you'd say something like that.
14:29Who the hell are you?
14:32I'm the Huntress.
14:33And you're the prey.
14:39Warmed up yet?
14:43I hate a man with no endurance.
14:46Really?
14:46What's the point?
14:50You can just say thank you.
14:51It wasn't that spectacular.
14:53No.
14:55It's...
14:56It's you.
14:57I saw you in my dream.
14:58I...
15:00Mom?
15:01You're really real.
15:03Kid, you should go home.
15:07Wait, where can I find you?
15:16It's late.
15:17There's a shelter in Durban.
15:19A few blocks south.
15:21You should get off the streets.
15:23No, wait.
15:51I'm telling you, the word on the street
15:53that these deaths are your garden-variety goodbye cruel world.
15:55Is there anything to eat in here?
15:56The way they did it, it's almost as if they were running from something.
16:01There's never any food in this place.
16:02Gazillion dollars worth of computer equipment and not one jar of peanut butter.
16:05This doesn't make any sense.
16:06I mean, if I were going to kill myself...
16:08You wouldn't.
16:10What?
16:11Kill yourself, you wouldn't.
16:13Do you know how old these are?
16:14Wait, wait, what do you mean I wouldn't kill myself?
16:17It's just not your nature.
16:19I resent that.
16:21I'm as broody and romantically self-destructive as the next girl.
16:25Yeah, and let's go get the bad guys.
16:27Let nothing stand in the path of the mission sort of way.
16:29You know, I'm the one that does all the night sweeps.
16:31I'm the one that does all the field work.
16:32I'm the one with bruises in really embarrassing places.
16:34Would it kill you to go to the grocery store every once in a while?
16:38What is this obsession with food?
16:39You try fighting the force of evil when your blood sugar's low.
16:43Perimeter breach.
16:45East side, near the elevator, sector two.
16:49I can't get a good visual.
16:50I'm on it.
17:06What are we going to do with her?
17:08She knows how to get in.
17:09What if she knows who we are?
17:11We could kill her.
17:13Look, we're the good guys.
17:14We don't kill innocent people.
17:16We don't kill anyone.
17:18Speak for yourself.
17:19And how did she find us, hmm?
17:20She must have followed you.
17:22Nobody follows me.
17:23Well, she's here.
17:24I mean, this place is supposed to be a secret.
17:26That's the whole point of a secret lair.
17:28It's not her fault.
17:31I followed her.
17:33She didn't know.
17:34How'd you get in here?
17:40It's you.
17:43I should have known you two would be together.
17:50Look.
17:54Sometimes when I touch people, I see things.
17:58Things that, um, that only they know.
18:03And sometimes when I dream things,
18:08they come true.
18:20So, um, what does this thing do exactly?
18:22This machine will tell me if there's any biological evidence of the abilities you say you have.
18:26In other words, you're a metahuman.
18:28Meta what?
18:29In most people, less than 5% of their neural cells are active.
18:33Your cerebral cortex activity is over 50%.
18:38So it's true.
18:40I'm officially a freak.
18:41Hey, watch out with the F-word.
18:44There are people in the world, Dinah.
18:45A lot of people with abilities beyond what we think of as human.
18:50No two metahumans have the same gifts.
18:52Don't ask me where the powers come from.
18:54No one knows.
18:55Natural mutations, biological, uh, experiments.
18:58There's been some really weird stuff from meteor showers.
19:00The point is,
19:02you're one of a long line of people who had to hide what they are.
19:05So I'm like you?
19:06Uh, like Helena, technically.
19:09I'm not metahuman.
19:10But you're both heroes, and you save people.
19:14All right.
19:15I want to join.
19:16No.
19:17Why not?
19:19Sorry, we don't have an opening for Junior Supergirl.
19:22You can't stay here.
19:23You have to go home.
19:29Do you honestly think I'd get on a bus
19:30and come to a city where I didn't know Seoul,
19:33with no money and no job?
19:36I had a place to go back to.
19:41I mean,
19:42I came to New Grotham
19:44looking for something,
19:45and I didn't even know what it was,
19:47but now I do.
19:49Can I talk to you
19:51now?
19:53Okay.
19:56You can't seriously
19:57be considering this.
20:00A few hundred years ago,
20:01a girl like that
20:02would have been murdered the snake.
20:03Yeah.
20:04She's freaking me out right now.
20:06It's just one night.
20:08One.
20:09I remember another girl
20:11with no place to go.
20:13Would fell asleep on that couch.
20:15I gotta go.
20:18Helen of wait.
20:36Good morning, Miss.
20:38Alfred Pennyworth.
20:40How do you do?
20:41Tick horse.
20:42let's go out.
20:42I don't know.
20:42I'măƒŠă‚€ăƒ.
