00:00Just in the nick of time, Ghana has a new coach, Portuguese national Carlos Queiroz.

00:06He'll lead the men's national team in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, kicking off in North America in June.

00:13This is not just another job, it's a mission, Queiroz said in a statement.

00:18The new coach starts work immediately preparing the Black Stars for the World Cup.

00:23Queiroz was tapped for the job because of his extensive World Cup experience.

00:28He led South Africa to qualification in 2002 and guided Portugal to the knockout phase in 2010.

00:35He also coached Iran's World Cup teams in 2014 and 2018.

00:41Queiroz takes over from Otto Addo, who was fired last month.
