00:00You arrived on scene as the sergeant's supervisor?
00:02Yes, I got there before the ambulance.
00:05Not that there was any aid they could have rendered.
00:08Is there a reason you didn't want us to interview you with Tim?
00:11What?
00:12No, we're just shaking it up.
00:15Let's stay focused.
00:16Were you the first to recognize the victim?
00:19Sort of.
00:21I thought I knew his face, but it wasn't
00:23until we ran his prints that we got a name.
00:25Rich Riley was retired LAPD.
00:27He had been with the department for 30 years
00:29and was a little bit of a legend.
00:31Mostly because he made a series of training videos
00:34from the mid-90s till his retirement in 2015,
00:38which, by modern standards, are a little cringe.
00:42Hey, everybody.
00:43Rich Rowley here with another installment of...
00:48Now, today, we're gonna be talking about
00:50proper cuffing technique.
00:53Excuse me, officer?
00:54I hurt my shoulder at the gym.
00:56Would you mind cuffing me in front?
00:59Pretty lady like you...
01:03What's the worst that could happen?
01:07You're welcome.
01:10Oh!
01:10Oh!
01:12Rich was a trip.
01:13The life of the party, at least early in his career.
01:16Then, as the years went on, he became a little, uh, crazy.
01:22Crazy how?
01:23He was deep into conspiracy theories.
01:25He, uh, had a real thing for cults and cabals.
01:29To be fair, Los Angeles does have a pretty dark history.
01:31But Rich took it to the next level.
01:33That's so cool.
01:34I'm not bored.
