00:00So if they want to remember me, whether they judge rightly or wrongly what I've done, I gave it all
00:05I got for many decades.
00:07Dr. Anthony Fauci, the U.S. health official celebrated and vilified as the face of the country's COVID-19 pandemic
00:14response,
00:15said in an interview with CNN since leaving his government position that it's time to move forward from COVID.
00:21The Hill reports Fauci responded to a recent report that determined the U.S. government
00:26was ill-prepared and disjointed in his response to the pandemic.
00:30We really fell very short.
00:32So hopefully the lessons learned from that type of a really strict analysis of what went wrong
00:39will help prepare us for future pandemics.
00:42The report from the COVID crisis group called out outdated health systems and bad governance
00:47as contributing factors to the inept national response.
00:51Fauci also shared his thoughts about the end of COVID-19's public health emergency.
00:56which is set to be on May 11th.
00:58You know, there's obviously debate about that.
01:02I think it's important to move forward.
01:04I mean, everybody wants this outbreak behind us.
01:07We want to make sure we don't just forget about it completely
01:10because we still have about 150 deaths per day
01:13and there's still a lot of virus out there.
01:16So we can't just completely forget about it.
01:18We got to continue to pay attention to it.
