00:00Rideshare giant Uber will slug Aussie users with a temporary fuel surcharge for non-EV fares as petrol prices climb.
00:09Until the 8th of June, Uber rides in petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles will attract an extra five cents per

00:17with the fee passed directly to drivers to offset rising fuel costs.
00:22EV rides booked through Uber Electric will be fully exempt.
00:25That's going to boost their capacity to fill those tanks up as they keep doing their work,
00:31their important work, the work that we've grown accustomed to,
00:35of taking us from one place to the other through the Rideshare network.
00:39The move follows a spike in fuel prices linked to global tensions,
00:44with drivers facing significantly higher running costs.
00:47It also comes after a recent fare increase in March,
00:51where customer fares rose 6% on average, varying by time and location.
