Last Woman on Earth (1960) is an American science‑fiction drama directed and produced by Roger Corman, with a screenplay by Robert Towne (credited as Edward Wain). The story follows three vacationers in Puerto Rico — businessman Harold Gern, his wife Evelyn, and their lawyer Martin — who go scuba diving and resurface to discover that a mysterious atmospheric event has killed nearly all human life.
As the trio struggles to survive in an emptied world, tensions rise, especially when Evelyn begins to assert her independence and forms a bond with Martin. Their fragile alliance collapses into jealousy, violence, and tragedy as the men compete for control, companionship, and the future itself. The film was originally released as a double feature with The Little Shop of Horrors (1960).
