Abe Gordon and Randy McMichael discuss the viral photos of Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel and the ethical questions surrounding the leak. They also break down the Atlanta Falcons' decision to exercise Bijan Robinson's fifth-year option and the latest trade buzz for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Transcript
00:00NFL insider Diana Russini, seen in photos with Patriot head coach Mike Vrabel.
00:05And then the latest turn of this story is, I guess, people kind of pressured the Athletic slash New York
00:11Times
00:11because they didn't like the initial response.
00:13So now they are reinvestigating exactly what went down.
00:19I anxiously await finding out the answer to that.
00:22Well, I mean, it's pitchers.
00:25And it's not a good look, I'll say that.
00:27It's not.
00:27But at the same time, it's hard to tell what they're doing.
00:30They're sitting beside each other in a pool.
00:31Video would have been a little bit more revealing because you can try and gauge a little bit more context.
00:36You told me more context than I knew about it as far as where they were at this time
00:40and who was in Arizona and all those different things.
00:42And then my first initial reaction was, like, she's big in the football realm.
00:49Obviously, he's the head coach of the New York Patriots.
00:52But they're not, in my opinion, to be where paparazzi is hanging out or something like that.
00:56They sell pitchers.
00:57So then my first thought was, initial thought was, that's a PI photo.
01:01Like, somebody's spouse got a – but then I go back and think again, like, isn't that ethics?
01:05You can't do that as far as your job.
01:08You're a private investigator and then you sell photos to the –
01:11Page six.
01:11Page six.
01:12So –
01:13By the way, if –
01:15It's probably not her job that would have hired a PI or they would have published, right?
01:19Yeah.
01:20Like, it came out in New York Post.
01:22Yeah.
01:23Page six is like a total old school – by the way, they kept calling – the page six article,
01:29the original article with the photos is really, really funny.
01:33And they kept calling whoever took these pictures or whoever they got reports from their spies.
01:40They're spies.
01:40Yeah.
01:40Like, you're not a spy, man.
01:41I don't know.
01:43Again, I don't know.
01:44I don't know.
01:45But it's not a good look.
01:46And unfortunately for her, she's getting the blunt of the blowback.
01:51And that's unfortunate but also not exactly unexpected either.
01:56No, it's not.
01:56So we'll see how that one ends up.
01:58Another one that's kind of making the rounds this morning and yesterday,
02:03top draft prospect out of Miami, Reuben Bain Jr., was involved in a 2024 car accident
02:08that ultimately led to one death.
02:11And reportedly all NFL teams have been made aware, really already were aware.
02:16This is not a story that was buried.
02:19Maybe to the public it was buried, but it wasn't really buried.
02:24And so it is taking a lot of people back.
02:26But again –
02:28Yesterday when I saw this, I didn't know.
02:30I never heard the situation, everything like that.
02:33Then you look more, you look at when it happened.
02:35And then obviously you look at the family's response of this young lady that lost her life.
02:41And they were like, why is this coming back up?
02:44They're not happy.
02:44They're not happy about that.
02:45They don't want to be drug back to it.
02:47Exactly.
02:47And so because now you talk about paid sicks, there's people reaching out to them now about –
02:52Oh, it already happened.
02:52Oh, yeah.
02:53About what goes on there.
02:55But we understand this is an unfortunate situation that, again, I didn't know that it happened.
02:59But that's why I was like, damn, it's been that long ago.
03:01And this is my first time, and a lot of our first time hearing it.
03:03Yeah.
03:04You know, and so – and it's always that thing where – I mean, you were talking off air.
03:07Around draft time, these things come up.
03:09You got to remember, this was his sophomore year.
03:11We didn't really know who was.
03:13Exactly.
03:13And it's different if it had happened.
03:15It had happened.
03:15And it's always around this time where these stories come up.
03:18Whoever first reported this was probably sitting on it until this time, you know.
03:23That's the thing there.
03:24Yeah.
03:24Yeah.
03:25UFL coach Ted Ginn Jr.
03:27What the hell Ted even done?
03:28Ahead of game – he charged with a DUI in Texas ahead of Sunday's game.
03:32Damn, Teddy.
03:33He put out a pretty nice apology in regards to, like, he owns it.
03:37It's a mistake.
03:37He's got to be better.
03:38He's going to do better.
03:40I don't think he probably feels he needs, like, to get help the way Tiger does.
03:45Sorry, Tiger.
03:46And so, I don't think he went, like, that far.
03:49But I do think it was a relatively mature response.
03:52So, there you go.
03:54Damn it, Teddy.
03:56Falcons exercise fifth-year option on Bajon Robinson.
03:58Oh, I'm not surprised.
03:59I know we were talking before we left about, you know, obviously him and Drake London are eligible for extensions.
04:04And I know – I think it was Joe Patrick said that he thought Bajon would get one sooner rather
04:08than later.
04:09And I know Ian Cunningham was talking about both players as far as the contract extensions is something they want
04:13to get to after the draft.
04:14So, I wouldn't be surprised before training camp that both deals are done.
04:17We'll talk about it at 120.
04:19I have some questions about this because I think there's a chance it gets weird.
04:24What?
04:26The situation of Drake, Bajon, both waiting extensions.
04:31I think there's a chance it gets weird.
04:32All right.
04:35Buccaneers could reportedly be preparing a, quote, big extension for Baker Mayfield.
04:39I would want to see one more year here.
04:42Because I'm a little iffy on where his career is headed right now.
04:45It's not even that.
04:45I think you want to look at it more or less also where you are with the head coach and
04:51all those different things.
04:52And if the new guy comes in, they want Baker and things like that.
04:55But Baker's done –
04:56You might want to see where that draft pick is this year considering the class.
04:59Because I think that's the one thing about it.
05:01Baker's done everything they've asked them to do when he came over from Cleveland.
05:04I mean, obviously you want to win a championship.
05:06But nobody – I didn't expect Baker to play the way he's played since he's been in Tampa.
05:10Well, you know, and –
05:11I'm concerned about how he's playing now and next year.
05:14But it's crazy because remember when we were talking –
05:14It was a couple years ago when they signed him.
05:16We were like, you said why the Falcons don't sign Baker Mayfield.
05:19I was a big supporter of Baker.
05:20Yeah, you were.
05:21We were all –
05:21We were like, really?
05:22Yeah, I know.
05:23Baker?
05:23But, I mean, he's played better than any quarterback he's played since he's been in Tampa.
05:27Well, here's the thing.
05:28In Miami?
05:28Depending on where your draft pick is, you might have to.
05:31There's a possibility.
05:32You also know the alternative of not having Baker might be, you know, no Mansville.
05:37Travis Hunter questioned Ian Rappaport after the suggestion that he's going to be mainly a cornerback this season.
05:43I love the fact –
05:44He said, who told you this?
05:45I love the fact that Travis did it.
05:46It could be still true in all those different things.
05:49It kind of needs – in my opinion, it needs to be true.
05:51I've always said that.
05:52I've always said that.
05:52You and I have been aligned on, like, his premier NFL position.
05:58But his athleticism often – like, you can be a part-time receiver.
06:01He could be a really good receiver.
06:03He's never going to be one of the five best receivers in the NFL.
06:06No.
06:06He could be one of the five best corners in the NFL.
06:08Yeah, he has that type of ability.
06:10So, we'll see how that goes.
06:11But I like how Travis – how he said that.
06:14Because my thing, when these things come out –
06:15Who told you this?
06:16When these things come out, you're like, they all sit there and told Ian Rappaport this.
06:19Yeah.
06:20Like, how did this get to him?
06:21Like, who's in our locker room?
06:23No matter who – who's in these scouting or who's in these coaches meeting that is sitting
06:27or has given him the heads up?
06:29Because I don't know Ian personally, but he's not the type of guy that's going to make something
06:32up off the top of his head.
06:33But, like, come on, man.
06:35The Eagles trade a couple draft picks to the Packers for wide receiver Dontavian Wicks.
06:40He's going to sign a one-year deal with the Eagles an additional year.
06:44A lot of people are tying it to this A.J. Brown.
06:47Are you headed there?
06:48Yeah.
06:48Because we talked about – before we left and everything, and the more comes out is, like,
06:52the cap relief they get if it's after June 1st.
06:54Right.
06:55And so that, to me, with this right here, they might go –
06:57You're talking about trade, though, not cut.
06:59Yeah.
06:59No, no, no.
06:59They're not going to cut him.
07:00No, no.
07:01Because they're going to get stuff for him.
07:02I mean, a lot of people here June 1st, they think you're –
07:04Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no.
07:05Releasing a guy.
07:06No, they're not going to cut him.
07:07Yeah.
07:07They're going to – because they're going to get a nice little – nice package.
07:10Now, this is one of the things where you would like to get it before this draft.
07:12You can use those draft picks.
07:13There's going to be for next year's draft and a player, possibly.
07:16But, yeah, this is – yeah, this just seemed like it's had legs for the last couple years.
07:21And, you know, before we left, there was a whole bunch of stuff coming out, you know,
07:25as far as how people feel about Jalen Hurts in that building and all those different things.
07:29And I go back to – this dude's had a different offensive coordinator seven straight seasons,
07:34which is crazy to me.
07:35Which is crazy.
07:36Considering what they have been up there – and I know Philly is Philly.
07:41It's the most negative fan base I've ever seen.
07:44Like, considering how good and competitive that team has been for a number of years now,
07:48they got Super Bowls.
07:50I wish this team had Philly football problems.
07:52Not all the other stuff in Philly.
07:53I'd love to see the Philly fans and Philly media have to deal with what Falcons fans have dealt with.
08:00Yes.
08:01Like, you think they're crying about A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts?
08:04They might burn the link now.
08:05Give them Marcus Mariota.
08:08He was there.
08:09Desmond – yeah, but he didn't play.
08:11Give them Desmond Ritter.
08:13I mean, my goodness.
08:16Anyways, that's Philly fans for you.
08:18Oh!
