00:01On 2nd of April, I was informed by my friend, my childhood friend, saying that I think your photo, your
00:11profile photo is being stolen and misused already.
00:14I'm shocked and then straight open my friends, I sent to me a Xiaohong Su Ling and then I opened
00:19it. Oh no, my phone, my profile picture is being misused and it's my photo and my wife's photo together,
00:27we are in the same photo.
00:29And we are surprised that this photo is being misused for I think quite a long time already. So they
00:35misused our photo for scamming, to scam, to sell the food, food catering.
00:40They're using the different name, different phone number and the only thing is the same one is my face.
00:47Unfortunately, we are the one in this picture and we feel so sad and we have no choice. On 2nd
00:57of April, on the date itself, once my friend told me, I straight away go to police station to make
01:04a police report and the police advised me,
01:06You need many cases like that too. So they advised me to go to MCMC to make a report. So
01:13investigation is under process now.
01:16All the victims are so angry, they look at our photos because they didn't, although the amount is very small
01:24only, but when they are hungry and they are very tired at night and they are waiting for the food
01:29catering and they misunderstand that our photo is the one who cheating them.
01:35So it's very terrible that our face is being cursed and being attacked. If you put this number in the
01:44WhatsApp right, actually you can straight away open it, you can see my picture which is misused by this scammer
01:52already.
01:52So we are not at the position to comment anything or write to him because I know he's a scammer
02:00already. Why I still want to just contact them.
02:02All my cases are mostly dealing with food, this electrical apprentice, so far coffee shop like that. I think very
02:18soon they will put in the coffee shop, coffee shop also will respond.
02:22My advice will basically go along the lines of an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.
02:29So always we can prevent this kind of situation from happening.
02:33There is actually two people in this situation. One is people like them who have had their identity stolen. Now
02:40everyone has social media, I have it, you all have it, everyone has it.
02:44But I think it's key that we actually take a few minutes or even a few seconds just to go
02:48through the privacy settings. Because it's there, it's inbuilt in almost all of the social media platforms.
02:54Or at least the prevalent famous ones lah. Go in there, tweak your privacy settings, make sure nobody can steal
03:01your identity.
03:02This is very important.
