00:03this will be our 11th year working together and we've helped a lot of struggling miners but i
00:08tell you there's nobody out there that i would rather work with than juan ibarra how's it going
00:14buddy good buddy you're looking good all right thanks you too tell me what you got going on man
00:21pretty and juan pull off the impossible in five years of tough rescues across north america there's
00:28twenty nine hundred dollars worth of gold in that man they've transformed some of the most broken
00:34operations out out out out we gotta go we gotta go to get miners back on the gold holy cow
00:40but not
00:40everything makes it to air the road just collapsed sometimes the challenges and off-the-cuff moments
00:47that aren't featured i guess my phone's done reveal just as much about a rescue as the ones that are
00:55this might be the one that fights us in the hind quarters the busted gear i hope freddy and juan
01:00have a plan here sleepless nights it's been a long summer it's been a long summer and even a little
01:06mischief on this episode of mine rescue i'm not scared to go in there and rip something apart it
01:15was built by a man we can fix it freddy and juan reflect on their most memorable unseen moments
01:22everywhere else is those joshua trees except where they mined lost footage that has changed lives
01:28made them from not making a living to making the darn good living and fueled the ongoing fight for
01:34miners nationwide in modern society we're going to continue to need these precious metals oh you're
01:50our kids regardless of uh the difficulties we've had over the years it's been really rewarding to
01:54do what we do me and you've watched the show together quite a few times then we're like what
01:59happened to that footage what happened to that footage there's been a lot of things that we've done
02:04that are just amazing and memorable so but it would be a week-long show yeah it would be a
02:10week
02:10yeah be a soap opera really when it comes down to it freddy the most underrated pressure that we have
02:15on a rescue is is when things behind the scenes go wrong and then it puts that much more pressure
02:20on
02:20you and i and everyone else in british columbia freddy and juan face a never-before-seen fix gun arrive
02:32that threatens to topple a dire rescue how you doing good i'm anthony i'm juan
02:37the moth mine is in deep trouble mine owner anthony needs to produce over four ounces of gold a day
02:45in order to stay mining but he's on the wrong ground they are super fine juan that's not good
02:52and his plan unfit for duty already that hopper is terrible freddy right now it's absolutely clogged up
03:00the plan first freddy and juan must secure a new cut yeah i got some color
03:06and second rebuild his broken hopper i'm going to put tubes across in here
03:12it'll hold a lot of that weight that's in the center here off that belt yeah it looks nice
03:18but when it comes time for a second test run firing it up freddy's load bar fix fails
03:34i think we've got a problem still in there that material's getting held up just sticks together
03:38let's go have a look at it we get a plan together and out of the blue something happens that
03:46blows
03:46our plan apart there's things we have no control over so that really stresses you out because now
03:51you don't control the situation any longer
03:56that material is real gummy boy yeah it's got the plant slowed way down right now
04:04at this point not very good we just might have to make some adjustments i'm not sure yet
04:09i hope freddy and juan have a plan here there's been many times where i've been humbled all of
04:14a sudden it gets turned around on me i'm like okay maybe i didn't know as much as i thought
04:17i knew
04:17but we figure it out on spot and then we have to improvise
04:24what do you think about putting a vibrator on it we can absolutely we might be able to do it
04:28while
04:28you're running too because that material it's bad yeah if it was perfectly dry it'd be a piece
04:33of cake but right now you can make mud balls out of it yeah yeah let's go get it okay
04:38let's do this
04:39i think that's where really we kind of excel because we think outside of the box and i personally
04:45like it when we go to a situation where we have no idea what the hell we're going to do
04:48but we have to
04:49figure it out on the fly i hate running into unknowns but you just don't know sometimes until
04:54you actually start running the plant so gotta hurry and get it done we'll see what happens
05:01freddy and one putting a vibrator on the box and hopefully they can get that done pretty quick
05:06because we need to get this test run done my son's stressed out hopefully there's going to be good pay
05:10in this test run and and i'll be able to see that stress go away the vibrator will break up
05:15the sticky pay
05:16and keep it moving anthony you feed it and then i'll go up and weld and then you feed it
05:22we can hop scotch

05:27i really appreciate the fact that even while we're running they're in there trying to
05:31you know fix little issues but i just got to kind of keep sluicing to get this four-hour test

05:35he's good one good she'll hold yeah all right buddy hey freddy yeah okay put some more dirt in yeah
05:53so we're going to have a lot of time left so we just had to improvise

06:05that's good well it's working pretty good that vibrator's getting that material to fall down
06:12really tough material to deal with but all is good now last bucket
06:18what a lot of people don't see is some of the stress that you and myself are under most people
06:23if they make a mistake only a few people see it it's not millions of people right like oh they
06:28screwed up that time
06:33freddy and juan i just want to thank you guys with your guys fixes everything that we've been
06:37fighting is now running smoothly after the rescue anthony opens up the new ground check that out
06:45that's a lot of gold the big win there is when they were able to go after that that new
06:50cut and it
06:51was huge yeah it's unbelievable i mean it's better than anything we could have hoped for
06:57unless we have the guys that have been in the industry that are willing to share their knowledge
07:00there's not going to be a new generation that knows what to do they need people like you and
07:04myself to go out and give them a hand once in a while yeah well sometimes we come across minds
07:09that
07:09we know they've got these problems but it's hard to tell them you know that they didn't build this
07:15right they didn't do that right yeah in northwest colorado near the wyoming border freddy and one
07:26face a tough conversation with miner peter friedman thank you so much peter one nice to meet you peter
07:33i need your help in death and facing the end of his mining dream greenhorn peter and his crew of
07:40four
07:40run a huge operation with little to no profit the thing about peter was he'd been taking advice from
07:47people he shouldn't have been taking advice from because he was new in the industry and he spent
07:52all kinds of money freddy and one pinpoint the flaw in peter's poor cleanups i think you ought to get
07:59a
07:59finishing table in here i've got a used table i'll sell it to you for about half what a new
08:03one goes for
08:04the gold's real hard to separate no table can get it clean ready i've tried five different tables but
08:10i'm 99 sure it'll work if it doesn't work you don't have to buy it deal deal i was actually
08:18nervous when
08:19he said that i remember like hell maybe mine won't i was i'm confident but you might have something
08:23different i don't know but after convincing peter about the new gold table freddy and lon head into an
08:31even tougher conversation so you got a concrete pad to put the finishing table on yeah i do i'll
08:38show you where it is because we have to have a concrete pad over here peter yeah i got bolts
08:44already sunk maybe we can uh i know it's too small maybe solid but it's way too small all right
08:51well
08:51you're the expert we need a pad that's 12 feet long the concrete base is too small to provide a
09:01solid
09:01foundation for the new table to here that long and about eight feet wide let's yank it out
09:09we'll pour a new one a plan peter doesn't like pretty water here and tearing my up already
09:18i hope it works out a little nervous it really comes down to freddy you know sometimes we need to
09:23give them tough love right but we got to be tactful about it as well
09:29i was pretty proud of that bad the cute little guy
09:35watch your toes right here be great okay we want to spare their feelings but uh you know sometimes it
09:43does require us to say hey let's do something different that's why you called us concrete trucks
09:49here one oh nice
09:57looks good guys
10:02once the concrete is cured the team lift the finishing table into place ready for the final
10:09test run good friend when the goal comes off that table it'll be 98 clean i'm skeptical i've tried every
10:17table they make out there and we haven't had one that would really make a clean product without
10:21losing a lot of gold from day one he's like i don't think it's going to work i don't think
10:25it's going
10:25to work fix is complete on the plan this is around 80 yards an hour now wow we've never had
10:32that kind
10:32of run and new table up and running and it looks like it's accumulating now i see the gold really
10:38coming
10:38out the second test results are weighed well we're at 0.23 right now 4 3 6.84. that's a
10:54hell of a lot
10:55better gold than that first test a massive 600 percent increase here's your gold guys now you're
11:01talking some serious money decent you know sure enough they went out there that's the best gold
11:06they've ever seen we're coming from a point of love right you know or from a position that we're
11:10genuinely trying to help them and and and so it's kind of a balancing act it really is a little
11:15tough love doesn't always save a minor from themselves it's all hands on deck to stop a mini disaster
11:24in this unseen moment stop stop when jeff leaves his bag on the track of the excavator jeff starts
11:32driving down the road i take off running yeah hey hey hey you're trying to stop them everyone's
11:39trying to honk at him nope keeps on going ah this is what happens when you don't pay attention to

11:49stuff unfortunately i left my bag sitting on the track and uh when i jumped in the cab to move

11:57out of the way um i forgot i guess my phone's done my wife won't like that

12:12coming up freddie reveals never seen prospecting secrets so freddie this is what we've got for
12:19maps and a few hair-raising twists along the way there are ghosts here as a strange thing is happening

12:36we've done a lot of traveling won how many miles do you think we've done ooh over a hundred thousand
12:41miles at one's workshop freddie and one unpacked their favorite unseen moments all the way from
12:48alaska canada all the way down the east coast east coast north carolina arizona you know everything
12:54in between we've done it all remember that july in british columbia columbia yeah i think between
12:59our trucks our trailers and the film cruise vehicles i think it was 17 tires yeah we lost
13:06tires almost daily ian here's your tire back you can put it on yourself next time don't hit rocks okay
13:13thanks for long they're going through the same trails we are right there's a lot of challenges
13:17you know accidents like you hitting that turkey last year that blew your front windshield
13:21out you know yeah i'm going into canada and all of a sudden a 20 pound turkey comes through my
13:26front
13:26windshield lucky it didn't kill you yeah luckily it didn't i know you love turkey but that's a little
13:33bit much huh it was more than i could chew fred there's way more but seriously some of these mines
13:40there's very very little room for error to get in and out of we've taken our trucks into really places
13:45we probably shouldn't take them but you know it's all in the name of trying to help people out
13:53in 2024 in british columbia freddie and one find they need a rescue themselves saving a mountaintop
14:01gold mine hi guys how you doing good to be here miners travis and son andrew need help to upgrade
14:07their plant to catch fine flood gold at this rate a fast food job would be paying you a lot

14:14appreciate uh the harsh honesty of things for sure
14:22that's tight thread but in this unseen footage the route out of the mine
14:27proves harder than the rescue itself but it's a four-wheel drive one it's getting a little muddy
14:32we've got to hug this side as best we can one of the places that i i really wish that
14:37it was a flying
14:38access was travis yeah those corners ready and one need to navigate a steep mountain pass with a 600
14:46foot unprotected drop into the fraser river it was raining for a couple days right you know the road was
14:52slick
15:04the road just collapsed gave way a trailer's ready to go over as i'm starting to turn my trailer that
15:12axle caught in there and started pushing that bank out and almost rolled the trailer that would have
15:16been a mess we're to the point where a butterfly lands on that downhill side it's going down
15:23you can see that hitch is twisting that's the only thing that's keeping that trailer from going over
15:29we're gonna have to get a piece of equipment up here to try to lift the back end of that
15:31trailer up to
15:32get it back on the road unable to get themselves out here comes travis minor travis allen comes to the
15:40rescuer's rescue uh can you get around the axle anywhere you want to go ahead lift up a little bit
15:56it was a little tight there for a minute you know but without an excavator in that situation
16:00no we'd have been in deep deep trouble you know we've got to have our tools you know if we
16:17don't
16:17have our tools in our truck it really limits what we can do but over the years there's been several
16:21different situations where we couldn't bring our trucks we had to make do with what we had you know
16:24we make a makeshift service truck out of our little side bicycle still don't have all the tools that you
16:29really want or need at the end of the day it reduces really what we're able to produce yeah
16:38on a rescue to the remote alaskan wilderness freddie and juan leave behind their tools of the trade
16:45in this unseen footage i know it's a fly-in situation but what else do we know about it
16:52know that there's three guys out here that have been mining and changing their stuff around for
16:56quite a few years and i don't think they've made a tremendous amount of money but uh really all i

17:02is you can't drive there how small are these planes freddie yeah they're small planes wano
17:09me and you will fill one up that's for damn here oh man known for brutal winters temperatures in the
17:18talkeetna mountains where the bush creek boys work can drop to minus 46 fahrenheit and vehicle access
17:26is often limited to a dangerous ice road during winter months it's gonna be the hottest day of
17:33year they say fred but a heat wave forecast changes priorities for juan i packed pretty light i was
17:40gonna take a hood hard hat i was gonna take that fan you aren't taking any tools but gonna take
17:46a fan
17:47i get hot at night when i sleep you're serious yeah all fan you want oh yeah with my hat
17:55here you go
17:57you didn't even bring spare underwear that time but you brought your fan here we go
18:02you know like i told you freddie i sleep in the nude and i run hot so you know i
18:06had to bring my fan
18:07that's why i brought my blinders all right fred let's load up okay is this all the gear you got

18:16okay well let me load her up and we'll get going here mike i'm going to be honest with you

18:20have lied about my weight a little bit i'm not 185. no i expect you a man of honor right

18:50with limited tools freddie and juan scavenged the site for parts to upgrade the bush creek boys plant
19:00we need to put a damper in here okay good call
19:07one we use some of this old carpet for adapter okay what else do we need some screws yeah we
19:13did a
19:13lot of stuff at bush creek for not having you know the majority of our tools yeah wow
19:214.13 that's massive at bush creek it was still over 80 increase that was the tools we took is
19:29what you
19:29and i could actually fit in the airplane it was pretty minimal and the fan yeah obviously the fan
19:34that was that was an important thing fred you don't know
19:50when we go to a new mine site you know a lot of times there's so many things going on
19:53that need
19:54repair it's overwhelming inside juan's workshop pretty and juan reveal insightful unseen moments
20:01and challenges that give a deeper look at what it takes to save minds we actually have to sit there
20:09and figure out what's going to give them the best recovery you know best bang for their buck so
20:13sometimes we go in there and like hey we have to concentrate on these things i know that's an issue
20:16but we can't deal with it we don't have enough time in washington state pretty and one are up
20:25against the clock to revive a mining dream in steep decline ready good morning how are you doing
20:34corey this is my partner yeah nice to meet you corey both levi and corey they were good tremendous
20:40workers hard work to be out there breaking rock by hand the way they were doing it crushing it down
20:44then putting it in a truck taking it down to the hammer mill it was a lot of work to
20:49reduce the
20:50time wasted driving the pay to the processing level freddy and juan designed an impressive pipe system
20:57to funnel crushed ore down into the mill but first they need to get the pipe to the site
21:04you had to build a whole trailer just to get all the material up to the top so the trailer
21:08had to be
21:08long enough for the pipe yet light enough to pull behind an atv because we couldn't get our trucks in
21:13there but as this unseen footage reveals sometimes it takes everyone on the team to make it happen
21:20on time it's great to have travis and alex helping us at times without travis and alex i don't think
21:27we could do the amount of work that we do oh hey guys happy to see you guys build foreman
21:33travis stockman
21:34and operator alex voigt are freddy and one's reliable duo called upon when the rescuers need extra muscle
21:42right now i'm cutting out the parts that we're going to use to build the pipe trailer we're gonna
21:46weld these on like this to hold the pipe strap everything down hook it up to an atv and hopefully
21:51make it up to the mine site one trailer done thanks for your help buddy of course looks fantastic
22:07and travis is the same way a lot of people don't see that you know behind the scenes he's the
22:11guy
22:11that's staying there with us late at night welding getting there early in the morning to get things
22:16lined up travis actually before working for us he was working underground blasting rock
22:22all the way down it's usually the back of the hole and let her rip
22:30it's a blessing to have guys like that that we know we can rely on it is
22:34this is a steep sharp turn pretty this might be the one that bites us in the hind quarters right
22:40here
22:40i'll have to admit that mine was a pain in the butt to work on it really was barely fit
22:45a wheelbarrow in there

23:01thank you after putting that pipe system in it streamlined that whole operation so it was a big
23:07improvement probably 50 times the amount of gold you had in the first run i mean that's amazing
23:14when we hit the ground a lot of times we hit the ground blind we you know we've talked to
23:18them over the phone maybe they sent us some pictures but until you actually get on the ground you don't
23:23know a lot of the stuff and really i think the challenge is fred you or myself i'm not scared
23:28to
23:28go in there and rip something apart you know it was built by a man we can fix it but
23:31when it comes down
23:32to it can we get the team together and actually get them more gold that's right
23:40in arizona freddy and juan reunite a fractured crew before their season washes away we are so happy you
23:48guys came out man it's been a struggle since we started the monsoon season is here we're getting
23:54shut down every day just about right now there's not a time in the monsoon season where we're not
23:59shut down because of lightning eight hundred thousand dollars in the hole flash floods have
24:06ripped through the desert and decimated their claim last year the rivers are about flowing everything was
24:12gone oh it was catastrophic for us completely at start over but in this unseen footage the wash
24:21plant fixes have to wait while freddy and juan perform a more personal fix with the candidates they
24:27were homesick you know you know all the time away from family and constantly getting shut down by
24:31floods is really tough on them so we're making a really big cajun boil here far from home and team
24:39morale low freddy comes up with a plan to unite the kennedy crew i've got sausage and shrimp going in
24:46here
24:46and i made the seasoning that i mixed together out of a bunch of different seasonings and uh we'll have
24:52one heck of a feast if if my seasoning's any good that's their food of choice you know it's crawfish
24:58and cajun seasoning and stuff where they're at in texas so figured well let's throw a little time and
25:03money at it who would have thought freddy dodge not only a mining guru fabrication expert but a chef as
25:10well simple chef i'm good at this brisket ribs damn good at ribs too yeah they're coming fred yeah
25:20hope you guys are hungry i think it was a great move felt more like a family that way everybody
25:25gets together over food he can bond definitely over food so had a great time so you were telling
25:31me the other day that you loved crawfish boil oh yeah texas oh look at that see how this colorado
25:38boy does crawfish try this out there you go let's throw some more of those on there absolutely
25:43definitely smells like i'm closer to home they've done a good job oh yeah how's the seasoning
25:50perfect well that's easy damn good man cheers guys cheers gentlemen thank you
25:58over the years we've both taken that role of being a therapist i got plenty of issues of my own
26:03so i
26:03don't i don't need to be giving out advice but sometimes it does help when we've been in a
26:08similar situation and we can give them our take on it exactly hey this is what we did or this
26:12is the
26:12situation i had a lot of times the mines we help they haven't had the opportunity to be at hundreds
26:18of mines like yourself and myself right over time team morale back on track the rock sheet's working good
26:29the kennedys combine for a final push to save their season we've never ran that much yardage
26:35this could be a big game changer here 0.61. wow that's awesome worth over a thousand dollars
26:44the kennedy crew quadruple their gold recovery you guys want to be able to pay back your investment
26:50actually be able to make a little bit of money out here instead of it just being a boys trip
26:53right and
26:54that's going to make it a possibility so the combination of the fixes and better ground
26:59they're still plugging along down there what it boils down to freddie is we grow to know and
27:04appreciate the people that we work with we make friends you know we want to do the best we can
27:07for
27:07them so you know it definitely gets really personal when we're there we're committed we want to get it
27:13done we want not only do we want to get it done we want to see them be successful that's
27:16right and
27:17that's why we're there truly help
27:29almost every place we've visited there's a bunch of work that we do that never gets shown
27:33something that takes two days to fix you know makes two minutes of television yeah freddie and
27:38juan return to mine rescues unseen footage one of the biggest things that we do that honestly it's
27:44kind of underrated is prospecting you're able to read the ground see what's going on and figure out
27:49where we need to prospect to rescue a pair of arizona prospectors in a legendary gold region
28:00freddie and juan go into overtime in their hunt for better ground what's your goal for this year we'd love
28:07to be at 50 ounces this year this is the goal that we want to be able to run at
28:11this year we've
28:13barely done over an ounce really to get them back on the gold freddie needs to identify the best pay
28:22on their 120 acre claim so freddie this is what we've got for maps and in this unseen footage we
28:29discover the real work can take much longer to get the job done so where are we at on here
28:34we're where
28:35the dot is okay yeah that's the famous king tut mine right here the king tut mine sits alongside
28:43a string of hard rock mines above jamie and christine's claim discovered in the 1930s the mine
28:51produced hundreds of ounces of gold a week it definitely had gold people were here before so
28:57you know that could go one way or the other yeah and some of this older stuff can be good
29:03some of it
29:03can lead you astray because people were trying to sell some of the mines right right so they would
29:09amplify how much gold they got or so forth and so on so we'll do our own testing and we'll
29:15do our own
29:16looking okay what i think we need to do is find a little bit of elevated ground okay uphill all
29:22right
29:22like towards that king tut mine okay and look down see what you can see that sounds great the more
29:28information we get on an area especially an area we've never been to before you know that's all
29:33the better regardless of what we hear or what we're told we do our own research and you have to
29:37do that
29:37exactly right
29:44let's walk down here
29:47see that's all tailings this is all tailings
29:52this is actually the most important thing you can have the best wash plant in the world
29:57you can have the best operators in the world but if you don't have the gold in the ground or
30:03if
30:03you're digging in the wrong spot you know you ain't gonna make it right there's a lot of stress on
30:08us
30:08because sure there's gold in the area so the gold should be there the glaciers did a lot of weird
30:13things
30:14uh streams moved trying to read tailings from virgin ground that's where a lot of these guys get in
30:19trouble too exactly out on the desert draws freddie hunts for old timer workings there's a few ways
30:27we can tell it's tailings one the sides and two do you notice what plant life is missing here joshua's
30:36yep everywhere else is those joshua trees right right except right here all right except where they mined
30:43there might be gold left in their tailings i'm sure there is because you know they had crude methods they
30:49didn't have water they're using dry washers but at the same time would you want to run the stuff
30:55that somebody else has already run once and taken half the gold out of or run virgin stuff with all
30:59the gold in it so that's what we're looking for is virgin material with all the gold in it
31:05just really valuable for me to go out with freddie and have him teach me these things directly so i
31:11can
31:11you know be a bigger part of that part of our operation it wasn't that we just showed up and
31:16boom it
31:17we actually did every step of the process wash plant fix is complete oh perfect too much i like
31:23it all right you like it i do freddie weighs the gold from the second test well there's a half
31:30an
31:31ounce right there exactly a half an ounce there's your goal there's still more in there keep going
31:35for it to keep going one point two five exactly an ounce and a quarter oh my gosh you guys
31:42holy cow
31:45with everything we did there with jamie and christine i think it was a little over a 400
31:49increase in gold it was tremendous it made them from not making a living to making the darn good
31:54living yeah we've talked about it over the years that you got to treat mining it's a business venture
31:58and you got to treat it as such one of the the situations that we ran into over the years
32:02is
32:03sometimes people get in there and they get so focused on it but yeah i got to do this i
32:07got
32:07to do that then they over complicate the process and at the end of the day they end up losing
32:11more
32:11gold and spending so much more money i knew a guy he would sluice 21 hours straight before he
32:17do a cleanup because he thought it was lucky you remember the adams family i do the homestead family
32:23great group of guys you know they had the whole family working at the mine site they were superstitious too
32:32in canada's caribou gold fields freddie and juan unearthed the spirit of the mountain in their
32:39search for lost gold we have four generations of gold miners here and my grandfather was a gold miner
32:45as well so that makes five freddie and juan's rescue is plagued by a faulty conveyor oh shut it down
32:53shut it down don't don't start the conveyors bound up conveyors they're a blessing or a curse
33:01but as this unseen footage shows it wasn't the only thing cursed on the site
33:07because our neighbor was saying that there are ghosts here
33:13they're holding the gold he's saying strange things happening in this area
33:18huh gold miners have always held deep superstitions about ghosts and spirits
33:25strange noises cave-ins and shadows in the mines were often blamed on restless souls guarding hidden
33:33treasures when i was working underground over the years there was a lot of guys that were really
33:38superstitious some of their rituals that they would do and everything else he says they'll find a channel
33:44and it's a really good channel they've tested it it's amazing the next day they start mining it nothing
33:48there we have to mine the channels we find the day we find them or else the next day all
33:53the gold's gone
33:54are you serious apparently it's because of the ghosts the ghosts came and just took it all that night
34:01not really superstitious at all but in the mining industry as a whole there's a lot it's not ghosts
34:06so it's leprechauns that's what i believe those stinking those little irish leprechauns you know
34:11they're out there stealing gold unfazed by supernatural tales freddie gets to work on the cursed conveyor
34:20it's hot boy but while trucking down a bearing local miner stephen keen doubles down on the ghostly
34:29tales rumor has it that a lot of chinese miners died in this area yeah you know
