00:13worn out so all in all then dave's in for a bit of an afternoon he is he's gonna make
00:18his money
00:211985 ford 82 10 tractor oh what a machine you're sat in here you look out and you've got a
00:28nice
00:29dead street bonnet a massive pipe and you think that's cool that fantastic car she's a phantom as
00:35you can see unbelievable condition absolutely superb yeah cover some miles in the day compared
00:41to a horse and garage didn't it 45 now the speedo's quite accurate it's lovely
00:49the matthewsons a dynasty of classic car auctioneers 55 the joys of an auction most
00:57people will go to us out with something in mind but come away with something different
01:01the fun is the chase we'll have a look and we'll advise you from there you just don't know what's
01:06on the end of the phone what you're gonna find when you open them doors this is a family's love
01:10affair with motors that have lived a life testing testing most people will buy a car because they
01:17can relate to it maybe a car that dad had you're selling dreams right here we go
01:35and i'll give it a bit i've given it some oh it's a busy week with motors coming and going
01:45just tow it around the car park put it in the back corner out the way and the team swap
01:49reading
01:49speedometers for water meters have you rubbed it with your finger yeah ah three three nine three
01:59three three nine three three one eight that's it how many how many threes have you got in there
02:04three three nine which ones are red and which ones are black oh god three one eight's red
02:10all right perfect marvelous can you do the same on the next one as well
02:16times are hard i know the jobs that you've been resigned to now i know i thought i was moving
02:20up in world but i'm clearly not am i a sphinx in there in thornton le dale dave's getting match
02:30fit
02:31for his latest collection where you're heading accrington not accrington stanley i always remember
02:37that on the football results they used to read them out on television and i always remember
02:41accrington stanley i can just sort of see these like 1970s footballers in my head you know god knows why
02:47yeah yeah so we're going down to meet diane she's had the little car for i think more years than
02:52she'd care to admit she sounds lovely nice day little jolly over to rackington one car to pick
02:59up what could possibly go wrong hopefully nothing other than i've already forgot to bring the tire
03:03inflator but i'll rustle up one of those from somewhere and you've got your tom cruise aviators
03:08i know just found them in my land rover you look at them cool ain't they hey that takes 10
03:13years off
03:13me didn't it it takes 10 years off me anyhow i'll go i'll speak to you later
03:27my husband had a cake shop and i wanted a second car for work so i used to see this
03:32car pass every
03:32day and i thought hey that's appealing because we had a couple of grand to spend you know there was
03:37a
03:37for sale sign up the back and we tried to follow it down the back streets of all of accrington
03:42and
03:42then we found it in the paper and paid 1200 pound which was a lot of money really
03:48tucked away behind the terraces in accrington is diane graham's morris mini traveler a small car
03:55with big memories i'll notice that the garage door isn't fully open doesn't been open for years
04:01how does dave get a car out well we need 10 strong men to come and help us i think
04:06to get the garage door
04:07open well as dave you can count me out because obviously i'm filming so we might have a bit of
04:12a
04:12problem right we'll see i'm strong and obviously the tires are all flat and worn out so all in all
04:19then dave's in for a bit of an afternoon and he is he's gonna make his money
04:26former practice nurse diane used the almond green mini as a daily driver but with a move to
04:33lytham st anne's on the horizon it's time to say goodbye used to deliver the flu jobs around the
04:40nursing homes i didn't do a lot of miles it was only in the local areas reliable no no necessarily
04:49that's surprising for a minute the car's been in the garage for how long i would say since 2007
04:56that was the last tax disc i used to run it up and down the back and then obviously because
05:02it
05:02wasn't going anywhere i just closed the door on it you did well to close the door i know the
05:08door was
05:08all right at the time oh sorry that succumbed to rust as well as yes along with the car it
05:14was immaculate
05:15when we bought it but obviously wear and tear and we had to have it resprayed and that's how it
05:22was
05:22it was immaculate i actually did the wood myself i varnish the wood myself with york varnish this is
05:29my daughter natalie in a swimming costume it must have been a nice day like it is today she used
05:34to
05:35love it she used to pretend to drive it didn't like it when it broke down and how old's daughter
05:40there
05:40then i would say she's about eight and how old daughter now she's 34. so it's a few years ago
05:46then yeah
05:48definitely obviously it was different to the rest on the road and it was used to be admired quite a
05:53lot i used to get notes put on my window screen all the time asking if it was for sale
05:58i want it to
06:00be brought back to life and used bring it back to immaculate what do you think it might be worth
06:07today
06:08i don't know i really don't know i've seen one for sale on ebay 25 000 pound i think i
06:15had a cooper s
06:16engine in there so a sporty model yeah but obviously you appreciate there's a lot of hard
06:21work that needs to go into oh of course yeah so probably safe to assume it might not do 25
06:27000
06:28i don't think so if it did i'd be very happy
06:38auction day is imminent and it looks like the browsers have got their buying heads on
06:43family trip out yes yeah yeah birthday present birthday present for him anything caught your eyes
06:49for the free capri capri for you yeah probably a ford escort gtr and you want the morris uh ice
06:58cream
06:59for the collection i know you've got to buy them all oh yeah yeah amongst the lots a car that's
07:07sure
07:07to be right up someone's strata looks a nice straight genuine old car this one doesn't it and when they're
07:14right like this ear looks to be the electric eater on the dash this 1976 1600 vw beetle has just
07:27landed
07:28when they're right i think they're a great old car really they're a good driving car aren't they i mean
07:33they're bound along they're long-legged just a really good easy to drive long distance sort of cruiser
07:39really in saloon form they were bought and probably used and abused a bit the soft tops were bought
07:44by a different person who would nurture it high days and holidays a toy and therefore generally
07:51speaking there's more of these survived and survive better it wants a bit of a clean and a tonse up
07:56and
07:56odds and sods but generally speaking it is very it's very straight and very presentable
08:03inside's lovely hood fits good i think whoever buys it will have a load of fun out of the old
08:08car
08:09money-wise is going to do sort of somewhere around sort of 10 11 grandish which isn't a lot of
08:14money
08:14for a classic tour is it you know four seater at that you know so all right there's not acres
08:18of room
08:19in the back is there but there is a back seat and you get the kids in can't you what
08:23do you have one
08:24not really me if i'm honest no they don't float me boat really that said if it had a load
08:29of petrol in
08:30it and and somebody said you can use it for a few days like today i'll go in it tonight
08:35it wouldn't bother me
08:42i'll go in it
08:53dave's arrived in accrington not for a match but for a motor
08:58pleased to meet you oh good to see you yeah diane graham's morris mini traveler has been languishing in
09:04the garage since 2007 behind a door as temperamental as the car
09:14clearly dave's had his weetabix it's kept quite well really it has yeah so what you just fell out
09:19of love with it or got something else or well i've got a regular car it's just you need money
09:24to throw
09:25at it we've kept it up to immaculate for so long and then our mechanic retired so ah that's that
09:32was it
09:32really you used it a fair bit then obviously oh yeah i used to take my daughter all over when
09:37she
09:37did her acting and singing and oh she's definitely been part of the family then oh yeah definitely
09:42i'm really sad for it to go but common sense has to prevail i'm moving to st anne's you see
09:47oh blimey
09:48are you going there yeah my daughter lives there so i'm selling the house you don't you don't buy houses
09:52as well do you have you not auctioned a house before no i don't think we've done a house i've
09:58always wanted an estate agency though yeah i always fancied doing it yeah you can sell anything yeah
10:03i think it's kept real well i've got a big file full of paperwork that i've spent on it in
10:09the past
10:10and what we're doing with 4981 that's my private plate you can sell that as well and that's no good
10:15to
10:15me now you know are you grovelling on the ball i'm grovelling just to see we'll see it better in
10:21the minute when it gets out on the back of that lorry but yeah typical little little mini there's a
10:27lot underneath that needs a bit of addressing yeah someone will take it on you mark my words it will
10:33be a pit for money it'll be like the fourth road bridge once it started it'll be like oh my
10:38word
10:40uh i'm gonna just see if we can get a little bit of air in the tyres just five or
10:44ten psi be better
10:45than zilch and then when they don't i'm gonna go back to plan b uh it's always good to have
10:51a plan b
10:52and then yeah and then back down and put the winch on it and press the button is that plan
10:56b
10:56that's plan b do we go beyond that or no we'll see how those two go first and then we'll
11:01worry about
11:01c later on yeah helpfully dave's left his tire inflator back in thornton the dale so plan a
11:09translates as borrowing kit from damien next door don't put a load in though just put like 10 psi in
11:16yeah just enough to get yeah yeah just if i'm being a bit optimistic here like 10 psi we might
11:22get two
11:22out of four that one's completely finished yeah and that one's leaking i can hear that one coming out
11:27oh well we'll make the best of it they're only flat at the bottom they're only flat at the bottom
11:32there you go brilliant she's a little bit tender bless her he's called maurice yeah well maurice is
11:42just a little bit soft underneath you don't we're not quite on plan c yet just hoping that the subframe
11:48doesn't come out and the car stays in the garage while dave ponders why he didn't send jack on this
11:53job
11:54diane's neighbor damien is back with some more gear you ain't got a flat screwdriver damien have you
11:59i certainly have just to pop these tubes off it's worked out all right yeah yeah are you going to
12:04take any tools they were there's no need because damien's next door with with a van for the tools
12:07the wife known as lucky day but anyway i thought you'd have got all this ready for us diane to
12:13be honest
12:13with you but anyhow you can do it it's like he's done it before isn't it yeah i think he
12:28knows what
12:29he's doing so maurice has seen the sun for the first time in a long time it's sad it's going
12:35to the right
12:36place and hopefully a new owner and a new lease of life definitely that's what i'd like for it
12:42getting it on weren't so bad getting it off could be fun
12:59every year thousands of lots pass through the auction and each one has a story to tell
13:05rally champion charlie has grown up with diesel in his dna
13:09and this 1985 ford 8210 tractor couldn't be closer to home
13:16his dad's tractor he's had it four or five years now he bought it and it wasn't painted
13:22had no bonnet no grill it was with it but not on it all the cab was different colors the
13:26fellow that
13:27owned it never got around to actually getting it finished prepped and ready to paint so we had it
13:32painted and funny enough it's the first vehicle and thing and anything that's dad ever sent away to
13:39be painted and it was mainly because we didn't have anywhere to do it at that time and if it
13:43had
13:43been a year later we could have done it that has to be my favorite pick purely and simply because
13:48i can relate to it i absolutely love it i think i've done more hours in it than dad has
13:53to be honest
13:53with you it's lovely it really is and the only thing that really lets it down is the interior but
13:59that's all original and to be fair we didn't really want to mess with it and make it too nice
14:03because
14:03we wouldn't use it i find that nice to look at i really do yes it's got a bit of
14:07mud on it that was
14:08me but it's almost cruel to put it in a shed like this when we had it we were working
14:13it well i was
14:14working it and it's all well and good because they get used and it's better to be used and just
14:18to be
14:19stood so what sort of features are really cool about these sorts of tractors for me it's sound
14:24because they all sound so nice the naturally aspirated ones sound lovely but the turbo ones just sound
14:30beautiful like turbo's just there look you can see the bottom half of it and that exhaust goes straight
14:35out of there and straight up there no no silencers no no nothing and they sound so nice they really
14:40really do we've had a few counties in the the flat bonnets the slopey bonnets the slopey bonnets
14:45obviously do more this won't do county money because it's an 8210 but it is a gen one because
14:51the gen twos have lights in the top of the cabs and there's quite a few of them around i
14:55don't really
14:55know what it'll do to be honest with you dad doesn't really want to sell it i don't really want
14:59them to sell it because you know i'd get in it and go anywhere it'd be very slow and it'd
15:03take
15:03me very long but i'd get there and probably a lot of tanks are diesel what it's worth and what
15:08it'll do are probably two different figures aren't they but i would have thought it would be worth
15:13somewhere between 16 and 18 somewhere there whether it'll do that i don't know it's not a
15:18tractor sale is it it's a vintage vehicle sale more than anything that's far quality that joe
15:26oh yeah solid as a rock man there you are look that's got to sell it handbook so talk me
15:32through
15:33what's nice about driving a tractor you go that's slow you've got loads of time to react that's the
15:39good thing you're sat in here you look out and you've got a nice dead straight bonnet a massive pipe
15:45and you think all right that's cool you can drive these quite young 16. i turned 16 on the 1st
15:51of
15:51january i had my test on the 16th passed it and i did it in this i did my test
15:56in this there is
15:57something special about them i really don't know what it is but i think it sort of spells from that
16:02big growly straight six up the front i think and while most teenagers dream of supercar speed
16:09there was only one choice for charlie's end of school celebration prom was in scarborough but
16:15maybe sort of 10 mile from where we live and it took me 55 minutes to get there 55 minutes
16:22and i was
16:22flat out all the way i thought i was going to be late at one point but i wasn't i
16:26was all right
16:27it's a pretty thing it is isn't it as far as tractors go yeah you're gonna miss it
16:34yeah i think i will it might not sell yet you don't know do you but i think i will
16:39yeah it's um
16:43yeah and i think i will miss it
16:49selling it provisionally for the first second third and last time
16:54provisionally it's auction day and upstairs in the office jill's wondering about a different kind
16:59of beetle mania there were really rattly weren't there that rear engine was like
17:04they have a certain tone i served petrol years ago we had a customer had a jeans beetle it was
17:09like orange and it had jeans on the bottom in a black line every time you came in wanted to
17:13fill in up and check the oil check the water and like bloody water check the water yeah really i
17:19think
17:19he might have been having a wind up with you no honestly that was every customer yeah no but
17:23beetles were air-cooled oh it wasn't him then that's why he never gave me a tip that's why you've
17:29never
17:29checked his water bloody things 1976 volkswagen 1303 beetle oh a nice car this proper car this
17:40right here we go convertible beetle whereabouts then come on six we're away and a quarter and a half
17:45six five seven fifty six seven fifty good value that six thousand seven hundred and fifty provisionally
17:51only six seven fifty my advice is keep it to the next sale six seven fifty the beetle owner was
17:59hoping
17:59for a bit more and the next day a surprise offer is made hello it's jill here at matthewson's he's
18:07offering
18:07nine nine thousand five hundred for it i oh she's chuffed oh let's ring the man who's bid on it
18:15yeah
18:16i'm just ringing to tell you that it's been accepted don't tell me that 82 and naked in the shower
18:25and
18:25like well you wouldn't be clothes on in the shower would you why would you answer the phone in the
18:30shower
18:35it's time for charlie's prompt ride to head into another sunset
18:411985 ford 82 10 tractor oh what a machine what a machine that's the way lovely
18:50superb charlie likes this and what's going to be 10 grand 10 000 5 11 000 5 11 5 12
18:57000 pound and going
18:58then 12 000 pound got more on my sheet here 12 and a quarter 13 13 13 000 i've got
19:04on the internet 13
19:05yeah internet yeah 13 the quarter 13 500 750 13 750 mark's telephone 13 7 14 internet 14 do you
19:17want a
19:17quarter mark it's only money tell him 14 and a quarter right 14 5. oh she's gone to 14 5.
19:25cheeky
19:25cheshire just sneaked in you know what they're like down there 14 500 submitting for the first
19:30second third and last time only joking cheshire thank you for your bidding
19:35paul was hoping for a bit more and it later sells for 17 grand
19:41you're taking me baby are you i am and the ford 82 10 tractor is offering new life as a
19:49left field
19:51limousine you can't keep them all can you you've got to move on it's a good tractor and a special
19:56old
19:56thing and um yeah it's um you know it's uh charlie's done more in it than i have to be
20:04honest i brought
20:05a john deer with a loader on which is a bit more used to me and i'm not scared to
20:09use the john deer
20:10whereas this yeah i didn't really want to use it not really work it you know it's a show tractor
20:15in it
20:15so away it goes manchester way somewhere is it cheshire is it yeah well it's manchester away from
20:22here well it's going to a wedding spot by the looks you're not going to get that that much call
20:27for it on the old wedding front i wouldn't have thought but you never know dear to get one that
20:32has been nurtured is far between simple as that they were the ultimate car probably in the day for
20:51somebody who wanted a status symbol a statement of quality and what have you statement of success
20:56as well i suppose i can't remember the exact number of phantom ones made they didn't make a lot of
21:01them
21:01and the reason is because they were hugely expensive i gather they cost roughly the same
21:05as a large country house so it wasn't for everybody in ledbury classic car collector chris spate
21:11is having a clear out soon he'll be downsizing and this 1929 rolls-royce phantom will need to find a
21:19new custodian it just makes you feel special it takes you back in time as well it makes you think
21:28about an era when life was clearly very very different and people that were in a position
21:32to be able to afford a car like that how fortunate they were i've been thinking about how sad i'll
21:36be
21:37when it goes but i'll also feel really privileged to having owned it for four years and it's been an
21:43amazing experience and had it not been for the fact that i'm not going to have space for it in
21:48the future
21:48it definitely wouldn't be going anywhere after a 30-year stint as an exhibit at the prestigious
21:54martini motor museum in switzerland chris bought the phantom as a non-runner and set about having
22:01it fully recommissioned i think it's about 18 19 foot long so it is quite large as far as we
22:07know
22:07that's the original pillar light it's got twin spare wheels side mounted spare wheels the bodywork is a
22:13barker it's a pullman sports limousine it's the original body original engine obviously as far as we
22:19can tell the car is almost completely original apart from the color so what happened with the
22:24color it was restored in switzerland by a chap who was a bugatti restorer as we understand it
22:29and we just wondered if he had a bit of bugatti blue left over because it certainly looks that
22:33sort of color to be honest when i first bought the car i didn't like it and my wife loved
22:37it so
22:38naturally it stayed that color and it's grown on me and i really like it now it seems quite popular
22:43this was built in the day when henry royce was still alive and the build quality is just
22:48unbelievable you know if they looked after properly they will last forever this car's 95 years old
22:52i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't live another 95 years who knows
22:59before there was the phantom there was the ghost putting rolls-royce on the map as the makers of the
23:04best car in the world the silver ghost biggest moment came in the 1913 alpine trial 1800 miles of
23:13mountain passes and steep climbs where they didn't just finish they dominated
23:20its successor the phantom was a gargantuan seven-seater constructed in derby uk and springfield
23:27massachusetts owned by dukes diplomats and hollywood royalty marlena dietrich's one was unearthed in a
23:33barn in 2007. fast forward a century and the phantom still making headlines with actor jason momoa transforming
23:45a 1929 rolls-royce phantom 2 into a fully electric vehicle the most ambitious and complex eb conversion
23:53ever undertaken
24:00the engine is just under eight liters it's a six-cylinder engine on this car you have to move
24:05the mascot to clear the bonnet
24:09that is the engine it's again largely original it is fitted with electronic ignition which is quite unusual
24:16and not original but it runs very well with it never caused me a problem it was on the car
24:20when i got it
24:21never need to adjust the points or anything like that it's almost too beautiful to tell i'm really
24:27wrestling with it it's been a hard decision it's taken about a year to come to the decision but
24:31i am retiring we're downsizing housewives i just won't have anywhere big enough to store it
24:36regrettably it's going to have to go but it will be sadly missed hopefully somebody will see it and love
24:40it and bid on it and still got time chris to hold on to it don't tempt me in the
24:47ideal world i'd love
24:48it to go to somebody who understands them who wants one who can afford to look after it properly and
24:54i
24:54don't mean somebody with lots of money who can put it into somewhere to be done but somebody who can
24:58afford the time if he hasn't got the money to do it himself and has the knowledge and the ability
25:02i'm hoping it'll find somebody who's enthusiastic about it and just loves the fact that it's so
25:07beautifully original
25:13as auction time approaches the browsers are out in force
25:18i've always liked the 914s this has got the fuchsia lois red tiger top it's absolutely mint do you
25:26approve of this purchase i do you do so which one do you prefer the blue capri i think it
25:32looks a lot
25:32cooler that's all i know he's in charge she's in charge really i i prefer the porsche because they're
25:41cool that it's red and you like stuff in the 70s don't you she's a big black sabbath fan
25:49and there's also a secret shopper nosing about this undercover boss may think he's incognito
25:56but those brokes are a dead giveaway here we have a little traveler that's a nice original interior
26:02a little bit of an upgraded dashboard and such like people didn't like the wood they maybe do now but
26:08they didn't really like the wood on the morris minor traveler there ain't much purpose really i think
26:12it's cosmetic it's just as easy to press out a flat panel for one of these there and not bother
26:19with
26:19the wood but they are pretty quintessential british it's only the british that would retain something
26:24like that i think the americans and any foreign manufacturers would probably make an all-steel body
26:29and stick the wood on we go that bit further and actually make it an integral part of the vehicle
26:35in my opinion they're super looking little thing they're lovely the 1968 morris traveler is crying
26:42out for a bit of tlc and a lot of welding but also sitting pretty inside is an austin mini
26:48countryman
26:49same iconic dna less rust when this model came on the market little estate car look
26:59that was really popular really really popular what do you think you're going to sell better
27:04a woody yeah the wood is the one that we'd all want one that i'd want one that most other
27:08people
27:08would want the old woody i think will do extremely well he looks to me like a very very honest
27:14car
27:14i personally think it'd do five or six grand a really lovely one could do 15. this one
27:21eight grand you'll have more bidders on that you will this loads more loads more loads more that will
27:26create a lot of interest and do all right the dawn of another auction day the above dealer sign look
27:36the sounds of that you've got a big garage 400 for the second third and final time from a heavyweight
27:44sign to a mini with a soft underbelly and now we have a 1968 mini traveler lovely little uh mini
27:52there
27:52now we went down and collected the car two or three weeks ago diane's owned the car forever
27:57district nurse bless her so where are we going to be who wants to start me then the little morris
28:01mini
28:02who's going to start me at four thousand pound please ash four thousand pound as a launch anyone
28:06going to start me at four thousand pound then four thousand pound that's the probably the value of the
28:10number plate i would think nope no one on there no have a word with the office upstairs and it's
28:15here to
28:16be sold so they'll try their very best to put a deal together for you i'm sure
28:20despite derrick's prediction that there'd be tons of interest diane's mini doesn't get a look in
28:26however it later sells for four thousand pounds to a serial collector in northern ireland
28:32who also scoops up an austin mini countryman and some memorabilia
28:38as for the well-turned countryman that derrick looked at
28:42ticks two for the first second third last time
28:52with several minis making their way out that leaves just enough space for one massive motor
28:58and derrick's arrived in ledbury to collect the 1929 rolls-royce phantom from chris spade
29:06morning chris nice to meet you lovely to meet you mate lovely to meet you all right this is a
29:10beast
29:10isn't it yeah the big old lump isn't it isn't she just hey yeah and it's about 1929 yeah very
29:16very
29:16last of the phantom ones a picture of it when it was brand new oh that's the actual car is
29:21it yeah
29:22and it was black all over yeah i don't know quite being in your lounge better than being in your
29:27lounge
29:28guys like chris and i we should really put a television there you know leave the family in the
29:33house of a night and come out and just sit in the car and watch dad's army that's really what
29:38we should
29:39be watching shouldn't it absolutely wonderful it's just pure luxury isn't it and yeah incredible those
29:46people that had the money to enjoy something like this sometimes the full history of a vehicle isn't
29:52easy to come by especially for cars of this vintage but oh the stories this one could tell
29:59the original owner was captain bowls apparently he was a decorated world war one hero that fell
30:05on hard times a little bit and he got into drink and gambling and all this type of stuff and
30:10he then
30:10somehow hooked up with john factor i think he was the half-brother of max factor oh yeah yeah but
30:16he
30:16was the exact opposite he was absolute crook apparently and then you've got they got involved with this
30:20massive share fraud which even the royal family was sucked in on apparently and yeah there's an article in
30:25the paperwork is that right yeah and and that brought in this car he only had the car a couple
30:30of months so we think whether he bought it with the proceeds and then got arrested and it got seized
30:35or whatever i have no idea i can imagine that yeah that's a lovely bit of history isn't it yeah
30:39it is
30:41can we have a quick look at the engine yeah of course yeah again it's not a mint thing but
30:46it's
30:47enormous isn't it great lump isn't it it wants to be an airplane doesn't it really half a merlin yeah
30:53not quite because they're 28 liters or maybe the one thing it's not original it's got electronic
30:57ignition oh really and he had it when i got it it works perfectly you still have to advance and
31:02retard it it's obviously a fixed one and the magneto doesn't work i've never bothered to look into why
31:06because that works so well even the fuel gauge works does it which is a little pump on the dash
31:11pressurizes and then the gauge comes yeah yeah they're remarkable yeah it just needs a certain type of
31:17owner isn't it it does you know like you knuck yeah is there another one out there do you think
31:22another fruit cake well there is yeah there's oh well we're all you know wired up wrong aren't we
31:27there's no question about that um just questioning the finding one that wants the rolls what do you
31:31think it'll do oh i'm gonna upset you now what 35 to 45. uh you're probably not wrong yeah you're
31:38probably not wrong do you fancy just driving it around the village if you want to yeah just start
31:43incredibly well hot and cold it always starts immediately it was lovely well you should do
31:50shouldn't it yeah cover some miles in a day compared to a horse and garage didn't it
31:5645 now the speedo's quite accurate it's lovely
32:05beautiful beautiful car absolutely stunning drove really lovely the car performed perfectly as always
32:11it's going to keep it in the car for now the idea was to take them off so if you
32:15leave the car parked
32:15in the town or something nobody steals it because they're worth a good thousand pounds hold it there
32:20chris hold it there happy with that or not bloody big isn't it just come on a touch but only
32:28a few
32:28inches yeah steady that'll do yeah it's like picking up a tractor right yeah done all right right on we
32:39go yeah thank you have a certainly thank you sorry to see it go but we all have to move
32:43on don't we
32:44hope the next owner enjoys it as much
33:02i think you're going to need a bigger bottle well then i'd have to do more wouldn't i have to
33:07finish
33:07for the ninth spot so in fact no i'll just keep going with this little one some cars are easy
33:13to
33:13miss in the packed showroom but this rare survivor is winning hearts all over pickering i think they
33:20are fantastic they really are a work of art and such good value for money now the quality of fittings
33:27and
33:27workmanship i think it's just amazing i mean look at that look at it if you'd have said to me
33:33up until
33:33five years ago do you want one of these others no no you're okay i find myself now leaning towards
33:40them i could see myself in something like that the only thing you have to get the right model because
33:44obviously these were predominantly built for passenger comfort not driver comfort so you've just got to
33:54make sure you've got the right model because there isn't actually acres of room for the driver and
34:00obviously i'm a driver i'm not going to be driven about am i because i get the enjoyment out of
34:04driving the millionaire rolls royce owner in 1929 was obviously just all about comfort in there
34:13so yeah it's they're not the it's easier to get into a lotus really than it is but it is
34:18one of these
34:19but she's lovely but i like to sit wait i like to sit right back and recline a little arguably
34:28probably
34:28not quite the model for me but nonetheless i think it's fantastic i mean there i mean i mean it's
34:38just yeah it's just a different world in there it really is a different world it's just lovely
34:44it's not particularly challenging sat in the back here if i'm honest if i didn't enjoy driving so much
34:51then it is the ultimate carriage isn't it really if i ever win the lottery and i become a billionaire
34:56i
34:56think i'll have to buy one and just occasionally just be chauffeured i think and just enjoy the
35:02experience i think i was born for the back of a rolls-royce wouldn't i might have been conceived
35:07in one but i don't know if i was born for one but uh and yeah there you go that
35:11might be my connection
35:12with him fantastic car she's a phantom as you can see unbelievable condition absolutely superb very
35:22interesting providence on it in as much as it was bought by a fraudster start me on that lots of
35:28interest with me 25 26 27 28 29 30 30 with me 30 31 absolutely for nothing 32 000 pound
35:38can i say three
35:3932.5 i've got do you want three ireland galway 32 500 provisional keith there we are 32.5 at
35:49seven and a
35:50half thousand under its estimate the offer is accepted the phantom's next chapter begins in ireland
36:02starts in gear as well starts in gear yes make sure you put your foot on trade right okay
36:09a couple of years ago serial collector alan chambers bought a dutch-built daf marathon 66 from the auction
36:17there's a very few of them about and i don't know if there's any in northern ireland i don't think
36:22so
36:25a few years on and the daf and alan are still very much together
36:30it starts every time it sits and you go back to it six months later turn the key away it
36:36goes it's a
36:37great car it's very easy to drive if you remember there's only two pedals basically once you select
36:43the gear forward gear put your foot in the throttle where you move off it can be tricky if
36:49you're doing a whole start you have to rev the engine quite a lot to get to move off it's
36:54quite
36:54lovely to drive on the road now the daf's been joined by a few more auction treats from across the
37:00water including the fina glass petrol pump globe the rally sign and the 1961 austin mini countryman
37:08that's the one i was after the 61 restored very rare car the very early travelers had the petrol tank
37:16on
37:16the pasture site internal tank so there's very few like that thought it needed a wee bit of work but
37:22the more i looked at the pictures realized hadn't an awful lot of work required so then i discovered
37:28there was a 68 morris traveler as well which need restored so i brought the two home
37:35joining alan's collection of minis is his four grand impulse buy along with a free pallet
37:41i like being my nice i like more rare cars i wanted something to start restoring that there wasn't an
37:49awful lot about and lucky enough i got it nobody else seemed to be interested in it so yeah it's
37:56come my way
37:58so what do you think not too bad we'll see what it's like when we put it up in the
38:02lift but i think
38:03it'll need a bit of work a lot of welding required i think might have to call on a proper
38:08welder
38:09but we'll see a bit of a hole here a bit of work required here but to be expected
38:20hmm subframe's quite quite bad i think the hardest job in this car is getting started it's a sinking
38:28feeling that our restoring classics team know all too well so a few cobwebs by the looks of it
38:36i see you notice some woodworm too has come across as well so i'll have to deal with that it's
38:41looking
38:42good you know it's growing on me the fact that it's here now i'll enjoy working on it so well
38:47i can't
38:48see any reason why of itself just keep it it probably is probably is get at it and get stuck
38:54in as i say
38:56the biggest job is probably getting started beautiful bit of river but the fishing is wonderful
39:09we've done france spain places like that but it's an actual treat to come to southern island i've been
39:15wanting to come for a long long time we're delivering this beautiful rolls royce phantom one to its new
39:22owner and so we're looking forward to see his reaction and i know it's a good car i know it
39:26drives nice but he will need to do a tiny bit of recommissioning when a vehicle of 95 years old
39:31is
39:31transported you generally get a lot of oil splashing around and of course every old car is built to leak
39:38anyway in county galway kevin cunningham also finds himself at the end of another long journey
39:47i sold a 1919 buick just pre-covered i've been looking for a new car since i just saw this
39:53car
39:53and i just fell in love with it and it has a great history file to it and we intend
39:59to add more history
40:00to the car lovely little stores little petrol pumps outside red diesel on tap and i've passed three lovely
40:11little pubs which i'll love to be in each and every one of them but one is great to have
40:17the weather
40:17that has been delivered on a sunny day in ireland which is great and i'm very excited to meet derek
40:22as well i'm looking forward to the spirit of ecstasy it hasn't got it on at the minute it's supposed
40:26to be in the car but they have what they call a town cap and that's what's on it at
40:29the minute
40:30derek you're welcome to montpelier lovely to see you hey up dog what a cooler riley lovely lovely lovely

41:02right yeah keep it going yep lovely that'll do yep and it lovely
41:12we'll get on the spirit of ecstasy before you go yeah nula will you put it on one lady to
41:17another

41:41set up oh she's uh she's in it already she's in it already stay where you are stay where you
41:45are
41:46that should be the only one that you'll switch on ignition like that but anyway you'll sort that out
41:51and the wood look at this beautiful and there that's more comfortable than your settee i'll tell
41:57you now that is that this is more comfortable than ours she's beautiful stunning look at that
42:02i want to make them they've moved in already moved in they've moved in no i'm so looking forward to
42:07getting it started and taking her for a nice casual run you'll be absolutely delighted riley hop in the
42:13car riley just loves the car beautiful care and such a beautiful color i think it's going to turn
42:19many ahead see it's a work of art the timber work the roof lining the glass the french headlamps which
42:27was an extra as well plan we'll do a few of the shows we always end up doing a few
42:32charity runs for
42:33different organizations and the odd family wedding as well you know it's a foot starter so there's a
42:39lot of things to learn and when they start you have to turn certain things off but we just have
42:43to
42:44to learn the procedure i think i'll be driven rather than be driving it quite comfortable in rolls royce
42:54thank you mate thanks for super to meet you really really good really enjoyed it it's been a lovely
