00:00Are you pretty confident you can knock off?
00:03Um, I don't know. I'm just going to go out and try my best, I guess.
00:11Let's start with your name, team and age.
00:14I'm Greg Minard. I'm from the Santa Cruz Syndicate.
00:18I'm Greg Minard. I am named team age. Sorry, long not.
00:25I've been on the grind.
00:28Greg Minard. He can compare it to, I don't know, someone like Roger Federer or something.
00:32But tennis isn't downhill mountain biking.
00:35You know what I mean? Like, this is way in hard here.
00:38It's mad. Like, honestly, like, but fucking seriously, like, Greg Minard, man.
00:41Insane.
00:47We have a new young kid on the Syndicate.
00:50Jackson Goldstone.
00:52I think Greg takes Jackson's presence as the ultimate motivation.
00:57Come on, Greg.
00:58I don't know how many World Cups I've got left,
00:59and I definitely want to be on the top step for another one.
01:11This is the story of me and Greg, right?
01:14That's right.
01:16We don't like to say that we have top dogs on the team,
01:19but, yeah, Greg definitely gets the nicest room at the hotels,
01:23and, yeah, we'll just say that.
01:25My hotel room this weekend is completely purple.
01:29Everything's purple.
01:31I'm not complaining, though. I'm just saying that.
01:36That's really funny.
01:37I didn't realize I got the nice room, but thanks, Jack.
01:39I appreciate that.
01:41Don't run over the old man on the scooter.
01:44Hello, hello.
01:45Hey.
01:47As downhill mountain bikers go, there's no one else
01:49who will ever span as many generations as Greg Minard.
02:07Greg Minard, the GOAT, the greatest of all time.
02:11G-O to the A to the T.
02:14Uh-huh.
02:14If you heard that, then you know about me.
02:16Uh-huh.
02:17Better watch out, cause nothing here can save ya.
02:19I'm telling you right now, I'm that player.
02:22Greatest of all time, yeah, I'm your savior.
02:24Don't be asking, cause I'm all out of favors.
02:27I think it's important to understand that Greg is just an anomaly.
02:31His first World Cup win was in 2001.
02:34With the best, now the rest can step up.
02:36I can tell you right now, this ain't your Mac job.
02:39So please be aware, I'm not your average, no, sir.
02:42He's still chasing the wins.
02:44First World Cup back in 1997, and still he's at the top.
02:48Can Greg Minard beat his own record as being the oldest man
02:51to ever win a World Cup.
03:02He's the winningest rider.
03:04He wants to try and put that out of touch from other people.
03:06I've won, I don't know what it was, 22 or 23?
03:10Sorry, me?
03:11Oh, no.
03:13I wasn't even sewn together 18 months ago.
03:1623.
03:17Yeah, I've won 23 World Cups.
03:21He's the same as he was a hundred years ago.
03:24It's crazy.
03:25The longevity, the speed.
03:28He's the Madonna of downhill mountain biking.
03:31I obviously root for him to win because he's from my era.
03:37So he's basically, you know, completed a career before I was even born.
03:47And now we're still racing each other.
03:50I have no idea when Greg Minard's gonna stop racing.
03:53Still doing good.
03:55When's he gonna stop?
03:56You tell me.
03:59Welcome to the legendary Val de Sole.
04:02This is one of the very best race courses in the world.
04:08It's the roughest, toughest track we race on.
04:11It's really a brute.
04:12You know, I got injured here pretty badly last season.
04:15You know, I don't know if everyone's forgotten that he broke his neck at the last race last year in
04:18Val de Sole.
04:22I can only be thankful that I was okay after that.
04:25You know, I've been working so hard coming into the season.
04:27I've had quite a few injuries in the off season that set me back a little.
04:31But I put so much effort into this season.
04:33And then we've had bad luck.
04:35This is the GOAT! On track! In the dive!
04:39It's lifting it all together!
04:41He's getting a flash!
04:43He might be right, Cedric.
04:44It's over! It's over!
04:46Can the Santa Cruz Syndicate star shine brightly here?
04:50In Lee again.
04:51Oh no!
04:52Oh no!
04:542023, really not the GOAT's year so far.
05:01I don't think I ate lunch.
05:04No, I did.
05:05Why am I hungry?
05:08So how does Greg Menard deal with a kid like Jackson Goldstone coming onto his team?
05:16It's a tough dynamic as it is, you know.
05:19Jackson's 19, I'm 41.
05:22It's like a father-son dynamic.
05:25How many fathers are out there trying to smoke their kids at World Cup racing?
05:30It looks like Jackson's having the best time of his life, which he definitely is.
05:34A lot of photographers here so I'm trying to do some steves for the boys.
05:41He brings a great vibe to the team.
05:44He's loving life, 100 miles an hour.
05:47The difference between Jackson and Greg, business and pleasure.
05:59Greg, regardless of how good he is at reinventing himself, regardless of how amazing he is as an athlete and
06:04a racer,
06:04when he gets on track at a World Cup downhill race, has to operate at a business level.
06:11Predicting big things off this afternoon with elite men.
06:14Fans pouring in now for one of the biggest days in downhill racing.
06:19Riders at the top, warming up.
06:22Looking to tame this physical track they call the Black Snake.
06:26Third round of the UCI mountain bike downhill World Cup.
06:30And it is raining.
06:31Right, back to the top then.
06:33Have you ever seen a goat fight a snake while you're about to?
06:35Greg Minard leaves the start hut.
06:38He broke his back here last time out.
06:40It's been a strange place for Greg Minard over the years.
06:43Hot and cold. A little bit weird in crash.
06:46Yeah.
06:48He looks like he's moving, but it's even hard for Minard.
06:52Three points facts against Fota.
06:53He knows that it's not really creepy when Greg takes the legs off.
06:57And R always the master of puzzling, the master of settle.
07:02Make some work through there.
07:04It's really hard to find the grip, it's hard to judge.
07:06You can see that flying out.
07:08You have to release the brakes to clean those tires.
07:11It's so difficult to ride when you see the goat.
07:14Having a hard time means like it's really difficult on track.
07:19It's a competitive spirit that keeps you chasing wins
07:22when your trophy case is already full.
07:25And you know he's got to be fuming under that helmet.
07:29We all root for him because he's won so much in his career.
07:33But in the last few years, he hasn't won as much.
07:36The first half of the season was probably one of my worst.
07:40Yeah, so the first half of the season for me has been really good.
07:45Goldstone, a man many people are talking about, could be in for his first elite victory today.
07:53Jackson Goldstone basically burst onto the World Cup scene as a junior in 2021.
07:59And now this is his first year in the elite category.
08:04Can Jackson Goldstone win his first elite UCI World Cup?
08:09Could today be a life-changing moment in this man's young career?
08:13Oh, nearly out the front door, right from the start.
08:17Big mistake on the first corner.
08:19We're not used to sit down.
08:20Oh, he's on track now as well.
08:22I think the majority of people had low expectations.
08:26Oh, the line! Inside, inside, doubling out everything.
08:30As if it is possible today here in Val de Solheim.
08:35What's it gonna say? It's...
08:37On screen!
08:38He's free, Ted's quicker.
08:39Jackson Goldstone on a stormer here.
08:45Jackson Goldstone will hear the crowd now.
08:48He'll know that he is on a race run that may well be his first ever elite level.
08:53UCI World Cup win.
08:54Turns left.
08:56Oh, nice one! Cranking hard in the corner!
08:59Drift through the right-hander, over the jump, down the line.
09:02And Jackson Goldstone goes fastest by 2.4 seconds in Val de Solheim Trentino.
09:11Here you are then, the last mine at the top.
09:14Loris Vergier for Trek Factory Racing.
09:16He's like 2.3 on that sprint.
09:19That's a lot of time.
09:21It's a lot of time, 2.3 seconds.
09:23Growing everything at it.
09:24Crosses the line.
09:25Loris Vergier goes fifth.
09:27Jackson Goldstone wins his first ever elite level.
09:32UCI mountain bike downhill World Cup.
09:35And look at what it means to him.
09:37Jackson Goldstone is your winner today.
09:40It's the fucking World Cup, man.
09:44Unbelievable run.
09:46Unbelievable.
09:47It is Jackson Goldstone!
09:52I didn't think it was going to come this soon, seeing all these top dogs sitting next to you on
09:57the podium, but you're on the top step. It's a crazy feeling.
10:00Wearing the leader's jersey.
10:02Jackson Goldstone!
10:11I think Greg takes Jackson's presence as the ultimate motivation.
10:18You hit a race, you hit a compete, and if it doesn't go well and you've got a bad result,
10:22you should be a little bummed. You need to regroup, figure it out, and come back stronger.
10:27I know when he's down, he's going to suddenly raise his game.
10:32Welcome to Andorra and the fourth stop of the UCI mountain bike World Series.
10:38I think Greg always has more in the tank. Things have to go really, really well for him to actually
10:43show it.
10:45He's been unlucky this season, but he's always got the pace in him. You can never count him up.
10:51I'm racing now because I feel like I can win. I wouldn't be on the start line if I felt
10:54like it wasn't possible for me to be in the mix.
10:57And I'm not going to race if I don't feel like I can.
11:07It's pushed me onto the front a bit.
11:10Either firm up the fork to balance it a bit.
11:12You always want something to push into as you go faster and faster.
11:16I would probably try firmer on the fork before softer on the back.
11:20The only way you'll stay relevant at a downhill mountain bike World Cup is by keeping up with the changes
11:25and constantly reinventing yourself.
11:28Greg, just through his desire to race mountain bikes, has managed to stay the constant, to stay one of the
11:34benchmarks of elite racing by constantly reinventing himself.
11:39Greg's been there. He's long in the tooth. He knows what he wants out of a track, out of his
11:43bike.
11:45And the process of getting there is kind of hard. We have to tick every single box and make sure
11:51that everything is working fine.
11:52And then our 19-year-old on the team is pretty happy. He's just like, yeah, track's sick, yeah, my
11:59bike's sick.
12:00And it's a little bit easier to get him in the zone to be ready to race.
12:04What are you guys changing?
12:08This is where the youth have an advantage on the elderly.
12:15And we are almost ready to go racing here in Pau, Aaron, Sal, Andor for the next round of the
12:20UCI Mountain Bike World Cup.
12:22The wind is picking up at the top.
12:24To finally just have a week where just every day built up and I felt like I was back to
12:30my normal racing.
12:40As soon as everything went smoothly into the final, I found it really comfortable to be mixed with the guys
12:45on the front end.
12:49Halfway through the season, maybe Greg's last. It just isn't up to standard for him thus far.
12:55But the GOAT has been looking fast in qualies and semis this week.
13:05Greg Minard then knows his place like the back of his hand, loves Andorra.
13:10He's dangerous when he's confident. This is Greg Minard.
13:14He's had a tough season, the big South African.
13:17Look hasn't been going his way, but can he turn the tables on? Look how fast he's going down here.
13:221.2!
13:231.2 seconds, Minard goes into the green.
13:27Minard heading for the hot seat.
13:29The GOAT is back! The GOAT is back!
13:32Do not adjust yourself, jumps out of there. Greg Minard, just a left-hander to go there in the gap.
13:45Greg Minard down to the line. Greg Minard goes fastest Impala and Sal Andorra by 2.4 seconds.
13:54What a run from the big South African.
13:58But can he stay in the hot seat as the remaining riders start to drop?
14:04Oh!
14:056 tenths of a second.
14:07Debrella is faster than Minard.
14:10Debrella crosses the line and goes fastest!
14:13Minard bumped to second. Can he hold on to that much-needed podium?
14:19Here we go, ladies and gentlemen. Jackson, Goalstone of the Santa Cruz Syndicate.
14:23Winner, last time out in Val de Sole, Trentino.
14:26Shoot then, Goalstone rails the right-hander.
14:29Oh, you see the front wheel, he's looking for grip. The front wheel's going left and right.
14:34Still charging.
14:34He's trying hard, he's not throwing the top!
14:38Halfway!
14:39Eight seconds back.
14:40Oh, flat tire!
14:41Flat tire, that will be that big 50-50, yeah.
14:43On the 50-50 on that stop, he had a flat.
14:45Goalstone down the line, 14.7, back.
14:51Back table, Debrella has only got one rider to survive.
14:57Lloyd Bruni crosses the line, Lloyd Bruni goes 22nd and...
15:01Greg Minard is set back on the podium, the GOAT!
15:11He just got himself his 85th podium at World Cup downhill.
15:21Hey, that champagne was sweet.
15:23I possibly celebrated like I won that race.
15:27Oh my God!
15:39For this race, obviously it's a new event.
15:42We haven't seen this track yet.
15:43We're basically going to go into this track walk with, you know, open eyes, as you always can.
15:47I did think this is where it went into the trees, but it looks like we've got another 300 meters
15:51straight away.
15:53It's pretty flat, yeah, huh?
15:55Him and Greg bounce off each other, talk lines, talk jumps, talk things that they're going to do.
16:00Holy fuck, it looks like we just dropped off the face of the earth.
16:03Do you check out the outside up top there?
16:06Yeah.
16:06It's impossible.
16:07Yeah, it doesn't look, it doesn't look hard.
16:09Or it does look hard, sorry.
16:11Yeah, I think you can probably blast into the nice inside there and then just inside, inside.
16:16I think it's important that if you're trying something that's working to share it, you know, it might not be
16:20for the others.
16:21It might not work out well for them, but at least they've got the option of knowing and trying and
16:25everyone sharing that same info helps the team build up together.
16:29Well done last week, mate.
16:30Oh, thanks.
16:31I think, I think it was good.
16:33I think just being on the podium was a nice, like, it's been such a shit show for the last
16:37year and a half.
16:37Need to do it again now.
16:38That's going to be the, that's going to be the tough one.
16:41I think Greg, at his stage in his career now, he ain't no spring chicken at 41 or 42 years
16:46old.
16:47So he's got to go down there and basically just get to work, I think, in practice.
16:53Jackson went low and he put up that left.
16:56Whereas a kid like Jackson Goldstone can get on track, can do business and at all times he's having full
17:04pleasure.
17:04Still just cruising along here trying to carry speed.
17:07Got a tailwind today, I'm flying.
17:11Better to land past it than case it, I guess.
17:17To try and compare the two, it's really hard.
17:20You know, I don't ever wish I was Jackson's age or talent.
17:24Funny enough, I do wish that I was probably his size.
17:28I'm much, much shorter than Greg.
17:30He's, his bike is nearly double the length of mine.
17:34Someone who's six foot three, we struggle, you know.
17:37Our legs are really long, so we ride bent over and we're trying to look up and we're keeping our
17:41chest up to try and look ahead.
17:43And you look at the younger guy now, they're quite a bit smaller.
17:46They just stand tall and they're just looking ahead.
17:53When it goes flat out straight and you're trying to gain speed rather than control speed, then I feel like
17:59we're in the mix.
18:01For a lighter rider like me, there's definitely some tracks that I struggle on when I try to carry speed.
18:06Having more mass helps carry momentum.
18:10But when you get to a course like here in Oudenville, where it's just really steep.
18:14When I'm offline, I've got 86 kilos pushing in the wrong direction.
18:19The speed comes to you just with gravity because of how steep it is.
18:26Those kind of tracks definitely suit me a lot more.
18:28Put this on. Put some lead in there.
18:31I need a 20 pound weight that you can ditch halfway down.
18:35Hit the little button and it'll ditch the weight.
18:37That's not bad, I mean. Someone's listening to that.
18:45Brand new racetrack here in France.
18:48The top section really just breaks off.
18:51Food, chat, screaming fast across that road.
18:54Once you hit the tree line, things get extremely steep.
18:59You can make your time at the top and then precise bottom.
19:08We're getting ready to go racing here.
19:11And it starts to become a very high-stress area, that warm-up zone, isn't it?
19:16We're getting ready to go racing here.
19:22Menard, can he leverage last week's podium into a turning point for his whole season?
19:35Menard, on track here in Oudenville, Peregru.
19:38Someone can do it. It's Greg Menard.
19:42He can carry speed on flatter sections, but here come the steeps.
19:48And he's doing it right now.
19:491.6 seconds up off the top section now.
19:5355 kilometers an hour.
19:58There's ruts to slot into, and as long as you've got something to push off of...
20:02Oh, look at that.
20:04600s of a second.
20:06It's really rare to see Greg Menard landing flat.
20:10Greg Menard, he was superb last time out.
20:13Palaar and Sal Andorra with that set.
20:15Clips a pull on the way through.
20:16Off the Red Bull gap today.
20:18And it's the big double.
20:19What is it? Could've stopped it.
20:20Glocka, inside that corner.
20:22Greg Menard crosses the line up.
20:240.9 seconds, so it's just a couple of little errors in there.
20:30Lost down bottom.
20:32You see that?
20:33That flat landed all the jump.
20:36That was scary.
20:41The next man out of the start gate is Jackson Goldstone for the Santa Cruz Syndicate from Canada.
20:46This needs to be a big one, and I think he's completely capable.
20:50Two seconds back.
20:51Two seconds back.
20:52It's too light to make those feet up there.
20:57Jackson's racecraft is incredible.
20:58He might be small, but he's like a firecracker.
21:00Once he knows the track, he just adapts into this race line.
21:03Oh, Justin!
21:04Oh, he gets it!
21:06He did it!
21:06Yes!
21:07Yes!
21:08Ahoy!
21:09I heard doing that was almost half a second.
21:12That split three and four are going to be key on his run then.
21:16Oh, oh, oh, oh!
21:17Lost the front a bit here.
21:18Oh, yeah, yeah!
21:19Come on, bring it back.
21:23He needs to keep pushing here.
21:25One point eight now.
21:26All split number four, 51.5 speed on the speed track.
21:29This is good.
21:30This is good.
21:31This is good.
21:31Let's go, Jack, boys!
21:35Jackson Goldstone.
21:36Is he right in his way?
21:37Into black and the leader's jersey in the UCI World Cup.
21:44Wow!
21:44Find another time on the last good section.
21:46That's what I'm talking about.
21:47I mean, these are championship rides.
21:49You've got to push to the end.
21:51Center!
21:52Center!
21:54I knew you would.
21:56Let's get to the overall.
21:58Hey, by the way out.
21:59Greg, he helped me a lot this weekend.
22:08You know, line stuff.
22:09Always, you know, helping me with just the small things.
22:13Keep me in the fight for the overall.
22:14So it was a really good team effort from everybody.
22:18Greg, where did you finish?
22:20Well, Petey told me 10th, but it was actually 12th.
22:23Oh!
22:23Red Bull guy told me it's 10th.
22:25Not so far.
22:26That's good.
22:26At some point you were 10th.
22:28Give me a break.
22:28I came down 10th.
22:29Hey, you finished second last weekend.
22:31I came down so early.
22:33It was still wet.
22:34Yeah, for sure.
22:36Hello and welcome to Snowshoe West Virginia.
22:39We're here for the UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup.
22:42The seventh round in the U.S. of A.
22:45Oh, Snowshoe was interesting now.
22:46Anything that could have gone wrong went wrong.
22:49Greg Menard then.
22:50Been struggling with bike setups lately.
22:53I had a big crash on the Friday.
22:56Injured my shoulder.
22:58And then on the Saturday I had another big crash
23:00and I had to swap to the other bike before the semi-final.
23:04So it was just a really disruptive race
23:06and, you know, this morning having the big crash,
23:08going to the semis on a new bike,
23:10just making it into the final.
23:12I feel like this week was a real disappointment.
23:15It was such a hard week.
23:17Over seven seconds back for the GOAT.
23:21Well, it's been a tough weekend, Greg.
23:24I probably should have gone to the casino after that
23:26because I'd really got rid of all my bad luck
23:28and I was bound to win something big for sure.
23:39What are you changing?
23:41My shoulder's killing,
23:42so I'm going to bang that fork as hard as possible
23:45so I don't have to hold on.
23:47Just take it with my legs.
23:52I'd separated the shoulder before
23:54and I knew my shoulder was sore
23:56but I wanted to push forward.
23:57You know, it's like we're leading the team overall.
23:59Every kind of point counts.
24:02To still be racing at 40 years old
24:05with a bad shoulder
24:06and everything that's happened in this season,
24:09you can't put that down at all.
24:10That's pretty impressive.
24:13This year they added a semi-final.
24:15On the finals day you have two race runs
24:17and only the top 30 riders from the semi-finals
24:21are selected for the final.
24:23I can't just be on the sideline.
24:25I just need one run and that'll be the semi-final.
24:27If I do that one run,
24:28I know that I'll push myself even harder in that final.
24:36Team-mate of Jackson Goldstone.
24:39He could be in danger of not even riding in the big show
24:43if he places outside the top 30 in this semi.
24:48Ending his 22nd UCI World Cup season on the sidelines.
24:5530 men get two finals.
24:58Those guys who are battling out,
24:59they can have a poor run, poor sector, small mistake
25:02and they end up 32nd, 33rd, whatever.
25:04And yeah, it's ruthless.
25:06I feel like I've had the worst season of my career.
25:09But I've also got to be pretty supportive of my teammate
25:11who's in the run for the overall.
25:13You know, I just felt like I support Jackson this weekend
25:16and I think that's the most important thing.
25:18The first elite final at home side for Jackson Goldstone.
25:22But for now, just get through the semis.
25:27Jackson Goldstone, though, another title contender
25:29leaves the Starhawk for Jackson Goldstone
25:31in the semi-finals of the UCI World Cup Finals
25:34here at Mont-Saint-Anne, the Canadian rider.
25:37In with a chance of a title today.
25:39And he's doing everything in his power
25:41to make it straightforward.
25:43But did he unleash the beast too early?
25:52Unleash the beast too early?
25:53Dude, 7.8.
25:56Interesting looking at his bike.
25:58What do I do?
26:00First year elite.
26:01Half the kids come from juniors,
26:03even if they've had a good junior career
26:04and are just happy to qualify for finals.
26:06From a racing side, it's great to see
26:09because you know he's got that hunger and the drive to win.
26:12My prediction coming into this was that
26:14Jackson is probably going to wrap up the overall,
26:16win it first try out in elite
26:18by winning the race in Mont-Saint-Anne.
26:19So it would be a fairytale story if he did it.
26:22I get so many interviews done
26:24and that's all they talk about
26:25is overall, overall, overall,
26:27where it's just like, you know,
26:28I'm just going to focus on Mont-Saint-Anne.
26:30Come on, Jackie, have fun.
26:32I was disappointed that I couldn't do more,
26:34but the positives of Lund Banking the final
26:36was Daniel was such an exciting sport to watch.
26:42Getting that big gap in semis
26:45and dropping last, you know,
26:47in front of the home crowd,
26:48it just, it fired me up so much
26:50to just go and race as hard as I can.
26:53Dropping in last with everything on the line
26:56in the Leeds, a first for Jackson.
27:00This is what it's all about.
27:01All right.
27:02Jackson Goldstone,
27:02the Santa Cruz Syndicate,
27:04the star of the semi-finals,
27:05the star of this season in many ways.
27:07What can he do?
27:10This is his one.
27:12Yes, boy.
27:13Come on.
27:14Is Jackson Goldstone
27:16going to be the first repeat winner of 2023?
27:28He's good for the young rider.
27:31Yeah.
27:32Good exit speed.
27:34Yeah.
27:34About my backside.
27:35One more in reserve.
27:36Jackson Goldstone
27:379-1 is the second split.
27:38That's good.
27:39Oh, yeah.
27:42Yes, Jackie.
27:44Go on, boys.
27:45Let's go.
27:53He just maintained that pace going through
27:55and, man, it was brilliant.
27:57That semi-final run, I was like,
27:58woof, I just hope we can do that again.
28:00You are witnessing a generational shift
28:03happening at downhill mountain biking.
28:05Jackson!
28:06Jackson!
28:07Jackson!
28:08Jackson!
28:09Jackson!
28:10A huge arrival
28:11of a massive, massive talent.
28:13Yes, he won't honor all of the year.
28:15Yes!
28:16Yes!
28:23Jackson Goldstone
28:25wins his home round in Montcetan.
28:27And he's done!
28:30Woo!
28:33Whoa!
28:384.3 seconds faster than Al Factory
28:42as the crowd has won the finish ball.
28:47What the f***?
28:49That was a pretty good run.
28:51Look at the crowd.
28:53It's insane.
28:54I'm so happy for him, man.
28:55and he's ridden so well this year,
28:57and then to ramp up the whole day today,
29:00man, it's beautiful.
29:09Jacky, team, come on.
29:12You run like a term, brother, like a term.
29:15That was great.
29:17If there's any kind of happiness you can get
29:19from not qualifying, that's watching Jacko win it at home.
29:24To be where I am in my first-year elite
29:26is such a crazy feeling.
29:28I never would have expected to be finishing second
29:30in the overall two World Cup wins.
29:32It's been a hell of a ride.
29:34I feel like now I've got to try and one-up
29:36what I just did this season,
29:37and that's going to be really hard.
29:48What Greg's achieved in his whole career so far
29:51is the benchmark.
29:56I'll never ever imagine that I'd be a world champion
30:00or have a career like I've had and win races
30:03and be on this travelling circus for so many years.
30:08Hopefully try my best to catch up at some point,
30:11but I've got a long ways to go in my career,
30:13and to get that many podiums would be a massive accomplishment
30:16when, you know, the competition's so, so tight.
30:20With Goldstone's win, Santa Cruz also take the team of the year
30:25in downhill.
30:28I just can't see myself finishing right now.
30:31I don't feel like this is a season that I'd enjoy.
30:34It'd be like, wow, I'm really done with this sport,
30:36because I don't feel like I am.
30:39There's no ways I can end like this.
30:41There's a better ending to this.
30:45Hey, we're probably in the final chapter.
30:48I'd probably go as far as saying
30:49as we've passed the final chapter
30:51and we're just in the little thank yous in the end.
31:00For sure, Matthias had something to prove coming into 2023.
31:02He had a very difficult 2022.
31:05And then your rival, Nino,
31:07he's been winning all this stuff.
31:09A long time, Nino was impossible to reach.
31:12Matthias wants to be that guy,
31:14and 23 is a clean slate for him to make that happen.
31:17What an absolute fighter Matthias Flugiger in.
31:20On your greatness, speak your truth.
31:23It's motivation, hear me through.
31:25Hear me out, hear me clear.
31:28Your only choice, persevere.
31:31Seize the moment, take your time.
31:34Walk them dogs, stay on your grind.
31:37We are winners, look deep inside.
31:39Challenge yourself, enjoy the ride.
31:451400.
31:45I'll have a second.
31:47ads for the next 55 page of Canada.
31:47You still feel.
31:48You still feel.
31:49and you'll be doing it all so much.
