Man Dies After Being Run Over by Heavy Equipment in North Jakarta
A 44-year-old man identified as GH died after being run over by a side loader at Smart Depot, Jalan Medan Block C 03, KBN Marunda, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on Thursday (Feb 26) at around 3:21 p.m. WIB.
Cilincing Police Chief AKP Bobi Subasri said the victim was not an employee of the depot and is suspected to have been working as a sea freight forwarder. He allegedly did not realize the area was an active container transport zone.
The heavy equipment was operated by AS (36). Based on initial findings and CCTV footage, the victim was seen walking toward an electricity substation when the side loader approached from behind and ran over him. The operator reportedly did not see the victim, possibly due to a blind spot.
Witnesses at the scene immediately reported the incident via walkie-talkie. Management was then informed, and authorities secured the area.
An external examination by the North Jakarta Metro Police Inafis team confirmed the victim died after being run over. The body has been taken to Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta for a post-mortem examination.
Police have processed the scene, collected CCTV footage, questioned witnesses, and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
