01:40So they are unchanged.
01:42Two great sides, then, who can cancel each other out in so many respects.

29:42But Chelsea's great improvement yesterday.
29:44Everybody enjoyed that game.
29:46Coming sort of at the end of a long run of better performances.
29:49When you were knocked out of Europe.
29:50What's brought the difference?
29:52I think it's an all-round belief in each other.
29:55I think that's particularly what's instigated a change in the mood and everything.
30:01You know we've got players all wanting to play for each other.
30:03Helping each other.
30:05Working for each other.
30:06And I think it showed up yesterday against Tottenham.
30:08Were you a bit complacent at the start of the season?
30:11I think complacency starts from a feeling of overconfidence.
30:16Which possibly we had last year when we played Real Madrid.
30:18We came back.
30:19We had a very short summer.
30:21And we came back.
30:23And probably we had a little bit of a hangover from the Real Madrid game.

30:28I mean a hangover.
30:29You're not going to be a hangover.
30:31What about individual performances of players during that time who've suddenly improved?
30:36Well I don't think anyone can outshine Alan Hudson for his improvement.
30:41And Peter Burnetti at the back.
30:44Alan Hudson played a big part in that goal yesterday.
30:47I think that's probably his finest game of the season.
30:50I was a bit disappointed in the way from a very promising start he'd slipped back.
30:53But he seems to have recaptured all of his old form.
30:56He had a tremendous start to this goal.
30:58Well he's absolutely, you know, he's got his old feeling back again.
31:02You know, he plays this one-two with John Dempsey back again.
31:05John does a terrific ball up here to Peter Osgood.
31:09And this type of move...
31:11Ozzy's showing no mean skill there to get away from Mike England's sliding tackle.
31:16But it's this ball that spreads out the play that really opens up the defence.
31:20There are four Spurs players there beating as it's aimed away for them.
31:23And a little behind trap there by Steve Kemba.
31:26But as Lacoste comes over, I think Cyril Knowles won't want to see this very much.
31:30Because he ducks his head and takes his eye off the ball there.

31:35But he didn't need very much time and he flashed it straight in the net.
31:40What's brought about this with Alan Hudson?
31:42I'm very interested in this young lad.
31:44Because the first time I saw him, I thought, what a tremendous talent he had.
31:48And then suddenly it all appeared to just, you know, fritter away.
31:52Well, I think he had a very big disappointment the other year when we were in the cup final.
31:58And he's taken him a year or so to get over it.
32:01I mean, he's still a very young fella.
32:03And he's just got married and he's got a stability now that possibly he may not have had.
32:07I don't know.
32:07But what he's done now, he's brought himself back into line.
32:10And he's a much more mature player than I've ever seen.
32:12Tremendous performance yesterday.
32:14But extraordinarily enough, although people might have said you should have won by three or four goals,
32:17in the end, of course, you could have, you almost let a draw get into the score sheets.
32:22Yeah, well, I think that was particularly my fault.
32:24You know, there was a time there I let Martin Chivers get behind me.
32:28And he had a blinding header.
32:30What about in the first half, though?
32:32There was this point-blank save there from, before we look at that one, from Martin Peters.

32:46But we can see, really, who it was who pulled you out of trouble.

33:00People still talk about his World Cup performance, very unfairly, in a way.
33:04It's one of those things that's always dragged up.
33:06But over the past few weeks, you've hardly let in any goals at all.
33:09His form has been remarkable.

33:11I think what Peter is so good at is that when he's not in the game, he's actually in it.
33:16Because the ball will come up at the end of the field, and all of a sudden, he'll have to
33:20be in the game.
33:21And a lot of goalkeepers can't respond so quickly.
33:23But Peter responds very quickly.
33:25And you always find the ball that's flashing past you.
33:27You think, oh, he's, you know, that's it.
33:29And he's always leaping across his goal and pulling them down.
33:32Marvellous.
33:33Well, it was a very good all-round performance yesterday.
33:35How do you see the rest of the season going for Chelsea?
33:37You're in the semi-finally of the League Cup.
33:38You're still in the FA Cup.
33:40I mean, not had a chance to be knocked out.
33:41The League, you're beginning to creep up on all the other London clubs.
33:45Well, if I was to be a gambling man, it's just the way I'd like to see my horse win
33:50a race.
33:51For the League?
33:52For anything.
33:53Because I think, you know, it's just the right time of the season to start going.
33:56It's just like I'd like to see my horse start to come to win a race in a mole race
34:01or something.
34:02Well, all the Chelsea Stallions there at Stamford Bridge, they certainly showed class form yesterday.
34:07And let's hope, David, that they continue to do that for the rest of the season.

34:12It's worth watching.
34:14Well, in fact, it was worth watching yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
34:17But there were just a couple of tackles which I want to draw your attention to.
34:20The first one by Mike England on Peter Osgood.
34:23And what you have to decide here as Hollies plays the ball over is whether, in fact,
34:27Mike England was going for the ball or whether he was going for the man.
34:31He lunges his foot through.
34:33It's a typical England tackle.
34:34But I think one could say there, although Osgood fell very heavily,
34:37that there was some justification in arguing that England went for the ball there
34:42as hard as he, in fact, did go for it.
34:44But the second tackle, which Ron Harris makes on Ray Evans,
34:47I see no justification in claiming anything else,
34:50but it's the kind of tackle that we can do without on football fields.
34:54Just look now.
34:55You'll see Harris in the dark shirt there, win the ball and then chase in after it.
34:59This is in slow motion and it's the tackle in its entirety.
35:03Now we'll look again and stop the action just at the point where Harris goes in for that ball.
35:10Evans has gone for the ball.
35:11Harris' foot is clearly over the top of the ball.
35:14And I sat very close to that incident yesterday.
35:17And from my seat, I would have certainly taken Harris' name for that one tackle
35:21and most probably would have sent him off.
35:23Because that is a kind of dangerous tackle in football that I certainly, for one, don't want to see.
35:27So much for those two incidents.
35:28What about Spurs?
35:30Well, for me, it cleared up the mystery of Spurs yesterday
35:32because they played so well when we've gone to White Hart Lane,
35:35I wondered why they couldn't win matches away.
35:37The answer's very simple.
35:38Their players don't fight and tackle hard enough
35:41to gather points consistently away from their home ground.
35:44I think it was typified most with an old player and a young player.
35:47Alan Gilzean didn't seem to relish the game at all yesterday
35:50and in the end was pulled off.
35:51And young Jimmy Neighbour there, who is obviously still learning the game
35:55and plays so well in front of his own crowd,
35:57showed that there's a lot more to learn about football for him yet
36:00before he can give a contribution both home and away.
36:03So the Spurs mystery cleared up.
36:05A wonderful afternoon's entertainment for all of us
36:07and a question mark over the future of both London clubs.
36:11I suppose the real questions being,
36:13are Chelsea coming up on the rails, as David Webb suggests,
36:16and what are Spurs going to do about that away form?
36:18Maybe those questions could be answered in those tremendous League Cup semi-finals
36:21that are coming up.
36:22But now it's time for some more action,
36:24and for that we go to Luton,
36:24where it hasn't really been a very happy season for them.
36:27I noticed that yesterday the Luton supporters club were handing out leaflets
36:30saying, please support our team a little more.
