Two women were killed and five others injured in a five-vehicle collision involving a lorry, excavator, two cars and a motorcycle in Lahad Datu, Sabah, on Saturday (April 11).

00:08The 4.30 p.m. incident involved a lorry, an excavator, two cars and a motorcycle.
00:15Lahat Datu Deputy District Police Chief Superintendent Jimmy Panyo said
00:20preliminary investigations found that a car driven by a 21-year-old woman
00:24lost control before veering into the opposite lane and colliding with a lorry.
00:30The impact triggered a chain reaction, with the lorry hitting another car and a motorcycle.
00:36The woman's vehicle also crashed into an excavator at a Pan Borneo road construction site.
00:42The driver died at the scene, while a 35-year-old front passenger died while being transported to Lahat Datu
00:49Hospital.
00:50An adult man and three children in the same car, along with the motorcyclist,
00:55were rushed to hospital by members of the public before rescue teams arrived.
01:00Occupants of the second car, as well as the excavator operator and lorry driver,
01:05escaped without serious injuries.
01:07The case is being investigated under Section 41, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act, 1987.
