00:19on man pretty and juan pull off the impossible in five years of tough rescues across north america
00:28there's 2 900 worth of gold in that they've transformed some of the most broken operations
00:34out out out out we gotta go we gotta go to get miners back on the gold holy cow but
00:40not everything
00:41makes it to air the road just collapsed sometimes the challenges and off-the-cuff moments that aren't
00:47featured i guess my phone's done revealed just as much about a rescue as the ones that are this might
00:55be the one that fights us in the hind quarters the busted gear i hope freddy and juan have a

01:01here sleepless nights it's been a long long summer and even a little mischief
01:10on this episode of mine rescue i'm not scared to go in there and rip something apart it was built
01:16by
01:16a man we can fix it freddy and juan reflect on their most memorable unseen moments everywhere else
01:23those joshua trees except where they mined lost footage that has changed lives
01:28made them from not making a living to making a darn good living and fueled the ongoing fight for
01:34miners nationwide in modern society we're going to continue to need these precious metals oh you're
01:49going to be talking regardless of uh the difficulties we've had over the years it's been really
01:54rewarding to do what we do me and you've watched the show together quite a few times then more like
01:58what happened to that footage what happened to that footage there's been a lot of things that we've
02:03done that are just amazing and memorable so but it would be a week-long show yeah it would be
02:10a week
02:10yeah be a soap opera really when it comes down to it freddy the most underrated pressure that we have
02:15on a rescue is is when things behind the scenes go wrong and then it puts that much more pressure
02:20on you and i and everyone else
02:25in british columbia freddy and juan face a never before seen fix gun arrive that threatens to topple a
02:34dire rescue how you doing good i'm anthony i'm juan juan nice to meet you freddy freddy good to meet
02:38you
02:38the moth mine is in deep trouble mine owner anthony needs to produce over four ounces of gold a day
02:45in order to stay mining but he's on the wrong ground they are super fine one that's not good
02:52and his plan unfit for duty already that offer is just terrible freddy right now it's absolutely clogged
02:59up the plan first freddy and juan must secure a new cut yeah i got some color and second rebuild
03:08his
03:08broken hopper i'm gonna put tubes across in here it'll hold a lot of that weight that's in the center
03:14here off that belt yeah it looks nice but when it comes time for a second test run firing it

03:24freddy's load bar fix fails
03:34i think we've got a problem still in there that material's getting held up just sticks together
03:38let's go have a look at it we get a plan together and out of the
03:44blue something happens that blows our plant apart there's things we have no control over
03:49so that really stresses you out because now you don't control the situation any longer
03:56that material is real gummy boy yeah it's got the plant slowed way down right now
04:04at this point not very good we just might have to make some adjustments i'm not sure yet
04:09i hope freddy and juan have a plan here there's been many times where i've been humbled all of a
04:14sudden it gets turned around on me i'm like okay maybe i didn't know as much as i thought i
04:17knew but
04:18we figure it out on spot and then we have to improvise
04:24what do you think about putting a vibrator on it we can absolutely we might be able to do it
04:28while
04:28you're running too because that material it's bad yeah if it was perfectly dry it'd be a piece of cake
04:34but
04:34right now you can make mud balls out of it yeah yeah let's go get it okay let's do this
04:38i think
04:40that's where really we kind of excel because we think outside of the box and i personally like it
04:45when we go to a situation where we have no idea what the hell we're going to do but we
04:48have to figure
04:49it out on the fly i hate running into unknowns but you just don't know sometimes until you actually
04:55start running the plant so gotta hurry and get it done we'll see what happens
05:01freddy and one putting a vibrator on the box and hopefully they can get that done pretty quick
05:06because we need to get this test run done my son's stressed out hopefully there's going to be good
05:10pay in this test run and and i'll be able to see that stress go away the vibrator will break

05:15the sticky pay and keep it moving anthony you feed it then i'll go up and weld and then you
05:21feed it
05:22we can hop scotch okay i really appreciate the fact that even while we're running they're in
05:30there trying to you know fix little issues but i just got to kind of keep sluicing to get this
05:34four-hour test in he's good one good she'll hold yeah all right buddy hey freddy yeah okay put some

05:40dirt in yeah
05:51normally we don't work on plants while they're still running but this is the last test runner
05:54we don't have a whole lot of time left so we just had to improvise

06:05that's good well it's working pretty good that vibrator's getting that material to fall down
06:12really tough material to deal with but all's good now last bucket
06:18what a lot of people don't see is some of the stress that you and myself are under most people
06:23if they make a mistake only a few people see it it's not millions of people right like oh they
06:28screwed up that time
06:33freddy and juan i just want to thank you guys with your guys fixes everything that we've been
06:37fighting is now running smoothly after the rescue anthony opens up the new ground check that out
06:45that's a lot of gold the big win there is when they were able to go after that that new
06:50cut and it
06:51was huge yeah it's unbelievable i mean it's better than anything we could have hoped for
06:57unless we have the guys that have been in the industry that are willing to share their knowledge
07:00there's not going to be a new generation that knows what to do they need people like you and
07:04myself to go out and give them a hand once in a while yeah well sometimes we come across minds
07:09that
07:09we know they've got these problems but it's hard to tell them you know that they didn't build this
07:15right they didn't do that right yeah in northwest colorado near the wyoming border freddy and juan
07:26face a tough conversation with miner peter friedman thank you so much peter juan nice to meet you peter
07:33i need your help in debt and facing the end of his mining dream greenhorn peter and his crew of
07:40four
07:40run a huge operation with little to no profit the thing about peter was he'd been taking advice from
07:47people he shouldn't have been taking advice from because he was new in the industry and he spent
07:52all kinds of money freddy and one pinpoint the flaw in peter's poor cleanups i think you ought to get
07:59a
07:59finishing table in here i've got a used table i'll sell it to you for about half what a new
08:03one goes for
08:04the gold's real hard to separate no table can get it clean freddy i've tried five different tables but
08:10i'm 99 sure it'll work if it doesn't work you don't have to buy it deal deal i was actually
08:18nervous when he said i remember like hell maybe mine won't i was i'm confident but you might have
08:23something different i don't know but after convincing peter about the new gold table freddy and juan head
08:31into an even tougher conversation so you got a concrete pad to put the finishing table on yeah i do
08:37i'll show
08:38you where it is because we have to have a concrete pad over here peter yeah i got bolts already
08:44sunk
08:44maybe we can uh no it's too small maybe solid but it's way too small all right well you're the
08:52expert
08:53we need a pad that's 12 feet long the concrete base is too small to provide a solid foundation for
09:02the new
09:03table to here that long and about eight feet wide let's yank it out a little poor new one
09:11a plan peter doesn't like pretty water here and tearing my up already
09:18i hope it works out a little nervous it really comes down to freddy you know sometimes we need to
09:23give them tough love right but we got to be tactful about it as well i was pretty proud of
09:31that pad
09:31it's a cute little guy watch your toes right here be great okay we want to spare their feelings but
09:41uh
09:41you know sometimes it does require us to say hey let's do something different that's why you called us
09:48concrete trucks here one oh nice
09:57looks good guys
10:02once the concrete is cured the team lift the finishing table into place ready for the final test run good
10:10right when the gold comes off that table it'll be 98 clean i'm skeptical i've tried every table
10:17they make out there and we haven't had one that would really make a clean product without losing a
10:22lot of gold from day one he's like i don't think it's going to work i don't think it's going
10:25to work
10:26fix is complete on the plan the sluices are running 80 yards an hour now wow we've never had that
10:32kind of run a new table up and running and it looks like it's accumulating now i see the gold
10:38really
10:38coming out the second test results are weighed well we're at 0.23 right now four three six
10:480.84. that's a hell of a lot better gold than that first test a massive 600 increase here's your
11:00gold guys now you're talking some serious money decent you know sure enough they went out there
11:05that's the best gold they've ever seen we're coming from a point of love right you know or
11:09from a position that we're genuinely trying to help them and and and so it's kind of a balancing act

11:14really is a little tough love doesn't always save a miner from themselves it's all hands on deck
11:21to stop a mini disaster in this unseen moment when jeff leaves his bag on the track of the excavator
11:31jeff starts driving down the road i take off running yeah hey hey hey you're trying to stop
11:39them everyone's trying to honk at them nope keeps on going
11:46ah this is what happens when you don't pay attention to your stuff
11:51unfortunately i left my bag sitting on the track and uh when i jumped in the cab to move it
11:57out of the way
11:57um i forgot i guess my phone's done my wife won't like that

12:12coming up freddie reveals never seen prospecting secrets so freddie this is what we've got for maps
12:19and a few hair raising twists along the way there are ghosts here is there strange things happening huh
12:36we've done a lot of traveling juan how many miles do you think we've done oh over a hundred thousand
12:41miles at juan's workshop freddie and juan unpacked their favorite unseen moments all the way from
12:48alaska canada all the way down the east coast east coast north carolina arizona you know everything in
12:54between we've done it all remember that july in british columbia british columbia yeah i think between
12:59our trucks our trailers and the film cruise vehicles i think it was 17 tires yeah we lost tires almost
13:07daily ian here's your tire back you can put it on yourself next time don't hit rocks okay thanks vlog
13:13they're going through the same trails we are right there's a lot of challenges you know accidents like
13:19you hitting that turkey last year that blew your front windshield well you know yeah i'm going into
13:23canada and all of a sudden a 20 pound turkey comes through my front windshield lucky it didn't kill
13:29you yeah luckily it didn't i know you love turkey but that's a little bit much huh it was more
13:34than i
13:35could chew fred there's way more but seriously some of these mines there's very very little room for
13:41error to get in and out of we've taken our trucks into really places we probably shouldn't take them
13:46but you know it's all in the name of trying to help people out
13:53in 2024 in british columbia freddie and one find they need a rescue themselves saving a mountaintop
14:01gold mine hi guys how you doing good to be here miners travis and son andrew need help to upgrade
14:07their plant to catch fine flood gold at this rate a fast food job would be paying you a lot

14:14appreciate uh the harsh honesty of things for sure
14:22that's tight thread but in this unseen footage the route out of the mine proves harder than the
14:29rescue itself but it's a four-wheel drive one it's getting a little muddy we gotta hug this side as
14:34best
14:34we can one of the places that i i really wish that it was a flying access was travis yeah
14:39those corners
14:41freddie and one need to navigate a steep mountain pass with a 600-foot unprotected drop into the
14:48fraser river it was raining for a couple days right you know the road was slick
15:04the road just collapsed gave way our trailer's ready to go over as i'm starting to turn my trailer
15:11that axle caught in there and started pushing that bank out and almost rolled the trailer that would
15:16have been a mess we're to the point where a butterfly lands on that downhill side it's going down
15:24you can see that hitch is twisting that's the only thing that's keeping that trailer from going over
15:29we're gonna have to get a piece of equipment up here to try to lift the back end of that
15:31trailer
15:31up to get it back on the road unable to get themselves out here comes travis
15:38minor travis allen comes to the rescuer's rescue
15:43uh can you get around the axle anywhere you want to go ahead lift up a little bit
15:56it was a little tight there for a minute you know but without an excavator in that situation
16:00no we'd have been in deep deep trouble you know we've got to have our tools you know if we
16:17don't
16:17have our tools in our truck it really limits what we can do but over the years there's been several
16:21different situations where we couldn't bring our trucks we had to make do with what we had you know
16:24we make a makeshift service truck out of our little side by side still don't have all the tools that
16:29you
16:29really want or need at the end of the day it reduces really what we're able to produce yeah
16:38on a rescue to the remote alaskan wilderness freddie and juan leave behind their tools of the trade
16:45in this unseen footage i know it's a fly-in situation but what else do we know about it
16:52know that there's three guys out here that have been mining and changing their stuff around for quite
16:57a few years and i don't think they've made a tremendous amount of money but uh really all
17:02i know is you can't drive there how small are these planes ready yeah they're small planes
17:08wano me and you will fill one up that's for damn here oh man known for brutal winters temperatures in
17:17the taukeetna mountains where the bush creek boys work can drop to minus 46 fahrenheit
17:25and vehicle access is often limited to a dangerous ice road during winter months
17:32it's gonna be the hottest day of the year they say fred but a heat wave forecast changes priorities for
17:37juan i packed pretty light i was gonna take a hood hard hat i was gonna take that fan
17:44you aren't taking any tools but gonna take a fan i get hot at night when i sleep
17:50you're serious yeah all fan you want oh here with my hat here you go you didn't even bring spare
17:58underwear that time but you brought your fan here we go you know like i told you freddie i sleep

18:04the nude and i run hot so you know i had to bring my fan that's why i brought my
18:08blinders all right fred
18:11let's load up okay is this all the gear you got this is that's it okay well let me load

18:17we'll get going here mike i'm going to be honest with you i might have lied about my weight a

18:21bit i'm not 185. now i expect you a man of honor right you didn't fib about your weight did

18:44tell you got her mike you got her buddy sir you did good hey i'm ready how's it going dennis

18:51with limited tools freddie and juan scavenge the site for parts to upgrade the bush creek boys
18:59plant we need to put a damper in here okay good call one we use some of this old carpet
19:09for a
19:10damper okay what else do we need some screws yeah we did a lot of stuff at bush creek for
19:15not having
19:15you know the majority of our tools yeah wow 4.13 that's massive at bush creek it was still over
19:2680
19:26percent increase that was the tools we took is what you and i could actually fit in the airplane
19:31it was pretty minimal and the fan yeah obviously the fan that was that was an important thing fred you
19:49don't know when we go to a new mine site you know a lot of times there's so many things
19:53going on
19:53that need repair it's overwhelming inside one's workshop pretty and one reveal insightful unseen
20:00moments and challenges that give a deeper look at what it takes to save minds we actually have to
20:08sit there and figure out what's going to give them the best recovery you know best bang for their buck
20:12so sometimes we go in there and like hey we have to concentrate on these things
20:15i know that's an issue but we can't deal with it we don't have enough time
20:22in washington state freddy and one are up against the clock to revive a mining dream in steep decline
20:32freddy good morning how are you doing this is corey this is my partner yeah nice to meet you
20:36both levi and corey they were good tremendous workers hard work to be out there breaking rock by
20:42hand the way they were doing it crushing it down then putting it in a truck taking it down to
20:47the
20:47hammer mill it was a lot of work to reduce the time wasted driving the pay to the processing level
20:53freddy and juan designed an impressive pipe system to funnel crushed ore down into the mill
21:01but first they need to get the pipe to the site you had to build a whole trailer just to
21:06get all the
21:06material up to the top so the trailer had to be long enough for the pipe yet light enough to
21:11pull
21:11behind an atv because we couldn't get our trucks in there but as this unseen footage reveals sometimes
21:17it takes everyone on the team to make it happen on time it's great to have travis and alex helping
21:24us at times without travis and alex i don't think we could do the amount of work that we do

21:30happy to see you guys build foreman travis stockman and operator alex voigt are freddy and one's reliable
21:38duo called upon when the rescuers need extra muscle right now i'm cutting out the parts that we're
21:44going to use to build the pipe trailer we're going to weld these on like this to hold the pipe

21:48everything down hook it up to an atv and hopefully make it up to the mine site

22:07and travis the same way a lot of people don't see that you know behind the scenes he's the guy

22:11staying there with us late at night welding getting there early in the morning to get things lined up
22:23and let it rip it's a blessing to have guys like that that we know we can rely on it

23:07improvement probably 50 times the amount of gold you had in the first run i mean that's amazing
23:14when we hit the ground a lot of times we hit the ground blind we you know we've talked to
23:18them over
23:18the phone maybe they sent us some pictures but until you actually get on the ground you don't know
23:23a lot of the stuff and really i think the challenge is fred you or myself i'm not scared to
23:28go in there
23:28and rip something apart you know it was built by a man we can fix it but when it comes
23:32down to it can
23:33get the team together and actually get them more gold that's right
23:40in arizona freddy and juan reunite a fractured crew before their season washes away we are so happy you
23:48guys came out man it's been a struggle since we started the monsoon season is here we're getting
23:54shut down every day just about right now there's not a time in the monsoon season where we're not
23:59shut down because of lightning eight hundred thousand dollars in the hole flash floods have
24:06ripped through the desert and decimated their claim last year the rivers are about flowing everything was
24:12gone it was catastrophic for us completely at start over but in this unseen footage the wash plant fixes
24:22have to wait while freddy and juan perform a more personal fix with the canadies they were homesick
24:28you know you know all the time away from family and constantly getting shut down by floods is really
24:32tough on them so we're making a really big cajun boil here far from home and team morale low freddy
24:40comes up with a plan to unite the kennedy crew i've got sausage and shrimp going in here and i
24:47made the
24:47seasoning that i mixed together out of a bunch of different seasonings and uh we'll have one heck of a
24:52feast if if my seasoning's any good that's their food of choice you know it's crawfish and cajun
24:58seasoning and stuff where they're at in texas so figured well let's throw a little time and money at
25:03it who would have thought freddy dodge not only a mining guru fabrication expert but a chef as well
25:11simple chef i'm good at this brisket ribs damn good at ribs too yeah they're coming fred yeah hope you
25:21guys are hungry i think it was a great move felt more like a family that way everybody gets together
25:26over food he can bond definitely over food so had a great time so you were telling me the other
25:31day
25:31that you loved crawfish boil oh yeah texas oh look at that see how this colorado boy does crawfish
25:39there you go let's throw some more of those on there absolutely definitely smells like i'm closer to
25:46home they've done a good job oh yeah how's the seasoning perfect well that season is damn good
25:52man cheers guys cheers gentlemen thank you over the years we've both taken that role of being a
26:01therapist i got plenty of issues of my own so i don't i don't need to be giving out advice
26:05but
26:05sometimes it does help when we've been in a similar situation and we can give them our take on it
26:10exactly
26:11hey this is what we did or this is the situation i had a lot of times the mines we
26:15help they haven't
26:16had the opportunity to be at hundreds of mines like yourself and myself right over time
26:24team morale back on track the rock sheet's working good the kennedys combine for a final push
26:31to save their season we've never ran that much yardage this could be a big game changer here
26:48you guys want to be able to pay back your investment yeah actually be able to make a
26:51little bit of money out here instead of it just being a boy's trip right and that's going to make
26:55it a possibility so the combination of the fixes and better ground they're still plugging along down
27:01there what it boils down to freddy is we grow to know and appreciate the people that we work with
27:05we
27:06we want to do the best we can for them so you know it definitely gets really personal when we're
27:11there
27:11we're committed we want to get it done we want not only do we want to get it done we
27:15want to see them
27:15be successful that's right and that's why we're there truly help
27:29almost every place we've visited there's a bunch of work that we do that never gets shown something that
27:34takes two days to fix you know makes two minutes of television yeah freddy and juan return to mine
27:39rescues unseen footage one of the biggest things that we do that honestly it's kind of underrated
27:44is prospecting you're able to read the ground see what's going on and figure out where we need to
27:50prospect to rescue a pair of arizona prospectors in a legendary gold region freddy and juan go into
28:02overtime in their hunt for better ground what's your goal for this year we'd love to be at 50 ounces
28:08this year this is the goal that we want to be able to run at this year we've barely done
28:13over an ounce
28:14to get them back on the gold freddy needs to identify the best pay on their 120 acre claim so
28:24freddy this is what we've got for maps and in this unseen footage we discover the real work can take
28:31much
28:31longer to get the job done so where are we at on here we're where the dot is okay yeah
28:36that's the
28:37famous king tut mine right here the king tut mine sits alongside a string of hard rock mines above jamie
28:46and christine's claim discovered in the 1930s the mine produced hundreds of ounces of gold a week
28:53it definitely had gold people were here before so you know that could go one way or the other
29:00yeah and some of this older stuff can be good some of it can lead you astray because
29:05people were trying to sell some of the mines right right so they would amplify how much gold they got
29:11or so right that makes sense so we'll do our own testing and we'll do our own looking okay what
29:17i
29:17think we need to do is find a little bit of elevated ground okay uphill all right like towards that
29:22king
29:23cut mine okay and look down see what you can see that sounds great the more information we get on
29:29an
29:29area especially an area we've never been to before you know that's all the better regardless of what
29:34we hear or what we're told we do our own research and you have to do that exactly right
29:44let's walk down here see that's all tailings this is all tailings
29:52this is actually the most important thing you can have the best wash plant in the world
29:57you can have the best operators in the world but if you don't have the gold in the ground or
30:05if you're
30:05going to make it right there's a lot of stress on us because sure there's gold in the area so
30:10the
30:11gold should be there but glaciers did a lot of weird things uh streams moved trying to read tailings
30:16from virgin ground that's where a lot of these guys get in trouble too exactly
30:21out on the desert draws freddie hunts for old timer workings there's a few ways we can tell it's
30:28tailings one the sides and two do you notice what plant life is missing here joshua's yep
30:37everywhere else is those joshua trees right right except right here all right except where they mined
30:43there might be gold left in their tailings i'm sure there is because you know they had crude methods
30:49they didn't have water they're using dry washers but at the same time would you want to run the
30:54stuff that somebody else has already run once and taken half the gold out of or run virgin stuff with
30:59all the gold in it so that's what we're looking for is virgin material with all the gold in it
31:05just really valuable for me to go out with freddie and have him teach me these things directly so i
31:11can
31:11you know be a bigger part of that part of our operation it wasn't that we just showed up and
31:16boom it
31:17we actually did every step of the process wash plant fix is complete oh perfect too much i like
31:23it all right you like it i do freddie weighs the gold from the second test well there's a half
31:30an
31:31ounce right there exactly a half an ounce there's your goal there's still more in there keep going
31:35freddie keep going 1.25 exactly an ounce and a quarter oh my gosh you guys holy cow with everything
31:46we did there with jamie and christine i think it was a little over a 400 increase in gold it
31:50was
31:50tremendous it made them from not making a living to making the darn good living yeah we've talked
31:55about it over the years that you got to treat mining it's a business venture and you got to treat
31:59it as such one of the the situations that we ran into over the years is sometimes people get in
32:04there
32:04and they get so focused on it yeah i got to do this i got to do that then they
32:08over complicate the
32:09process and at the end of the day they end up losing more gold and spending so much more money
32:14i knew a guy he would sluice 21 hours straight before he'd do a cleanup because he thought it
32:19was lucky you remember the adams family i do the homestead family great group of guys you know they
32:24had the whole family working at the mine site they were superstitious too
32:32in canada's caribou gold fields freddie and juan unearthed the spirit of the mountain
32:38in their search for lost gold we have four generations of gold miners here and my grandfather
32:44was a gold miner as well so that makes five freddie and juan's rescue is plagued by a faulty conveyor
32:55don't don't start the conveyors bound up conveyors they're a blessing or a curse
33:01but as this unseen footage shows it wasn't the only thing cursed on the site because our neighbor
33:08was saying that there are ghosts here they're holding the gold he's saying he's actually serious
33:16strange things happening in this area huh gold miners have always held deep superstitions
33:22about ghosts and spirits strange noises cave-ins and shadows in the mines were often blamed on
33:31restless souls guarding hidden treasures when i was working underground over the years there was a lot
33:37of guys that were really superstitious some of their rituals that they would do and everything else
33:42he says they'll find a channel and it's a really good channel they've tested it it's amazing the next
33:47day they start mining it nothing there we have to mine the channels we find the day we find them
33:52or else the next day all the gold's gone are you serious apparently it's because of the ghosts the
33:57ghosts came and just took it all that night not really superstitious at all but in the mining industry
34:04as a whole there's a lot it's not ghosts so it's leprechauns that's what i believe those stinking
34:09those little light irish leprechauns you know they're out there stealing gold

40:25when you double it for them or four times that's the icing on the cake yeah that's over twice as
40:32much gold in four hours as you did the first time this is life-changing event here you know with
40:37what we saw at the end of that run it was dang good it was really good
