01:08Welcome, everybody.
01:09Welcome, welcome, welcome to The Tonight Show.
01:12You're here for Tonight Show.
01:14We have a big show for you tonight.
01:17Jack Black is here tonight.
01:18Jack Black.
01:22Before we get to the show, let's get to some news first.
01:24Everybody's talking about this.
01:26Today, President Trump fired Attorney General Pam Bondi.
01:31He...
01:38The hardest thing about getting fired by Trump
01:40is pretending to be sad when he tells you, you know?
01:44Of course, being fired by Trump is never fun.
01:46Kristi Noem was like,
01:47true, but things can definitely get worse, so.
01:51Meanwhile, when Trump realized he fired the woman
01:53with access to all the Epstein files,
01:55he was like, oh, crap.
01:58Uh...
01:59Pam, you're not fired, you're redacted.
02:03Apparently, Trump was also upset
02:04that Bondi didn't go after his enemies.
02:07Oh.
02:08And Bondi was like,
02:09so you want me to arrest NATO, Bruce Springsteen,
02:11and the ice cream machine at McDonald's?
02:13He's like, it never works.
02:14It never works.
02:17Yep, Trump's on a bit of a firing spree.
02:20First Kristi Noem, then Pam Bondi.
02:22Ironically, the only staffer who has immunity
02:24is RFK Jr.
02:26Weird.
02:29Interesting, right?
02:31Think about it.
02:34Some more news from Washington last night.
02:37In a primetime address,
02:38Trump spoke for 19 minutes about the war
02:40and didn't have anything new to say.
02:44You know you nailed the primetime address
02:46when everyone's reaction is,
02:47you interrupted the Masked Singer for this?
02:50Yep, Trump didn't have much to say.
02:52It's like when your iPhone has an important update
02:54and then it just adds two new emojis.
02:57Well, during Trump's big speech,
02:59he used a teleprompter
03:00and it turns out he really relies on it.
03:02Check out what Trump's staff puts on the teleprompter
03:05to get him to say what they want.
03:06Watch this.
03:07Let me begin by congratulating the team at NASA
03:11and our brave astronauts.
03:13It will be traveling further than any manned rocket has ever flown
03:17and will very substantially pass the moon.
03:20Remember, because of our Drill Baby Drill program,
03:23America has plenty of gas.
03:25We have so much gas.
03:26It would lead to decades of extortion,
03:30economic pain and instability worse than we can ever imagine.
03:34I can say tonight that we are on track to complete
03:38all of America's military objectives shortly.
03:41Very shortly.
03:42It's interesting what they say.
03:44To get him to say this,
03:46you got to know him.
03:50Well, it's been a rough month for Trump,
03:53but he's not worried
03:54because he has a plan to turn things around.
03:56Take a look.
03:56President Trump here announcing a new plan
03:59to make my presidency the greatest in history.
04:02And it's simple.
04:02I'm going to flip all the charts upside down.
04:06That's right.
04:06The stock market, skyrocketing.
04:09Gas prices, way down.
04:11Measles, gone.
04:13And my 33% approval rating now, 67%.
04:16Round that up to 100.
04:18So like the great Missy Elliott,
04:20I'm just going to put my thing down,
04:22flip it and reverse it.
04:23Is your flippin' different yet?
04:25Is your flippin' different yet?
04:27It's the only idea I have left.
04:28Okay, bye.
04:29Yeah, interesting.
04:30I thought that was nice when you released that.
04:36Well, this is exciting.
04:38NASA just successfully launched
04:39a historic 10-day mission around the moon.
04:46But this is true.
04:47Get this.
04:47Shortly after launch,
04:49the toilet aboard the Artemis 2 rocket broke.
04:52Yeah.
04:53It suddenly went from a billion-dollar rocket
04:55to a carnival cruise in space.
05:00That's right.
05:00For six hours,
05:01the astronauts couldn't use the bathroom.
05:03The ground crew was like,
05:04do you have to make an Artemis 1 or an Artemis 2?
05:08Sorry to get personal.
05:11Luckily, Mario and Luigi were in the galaxy
05:13and fixed it right up.
05:14So we're all good.
05:15Yep, the Artemis 2 crew is on their way to the moon.
05:18Now, I wanted to learn more about this.
05:19So please welcome, from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory,
05:22spaceflight expert, Michael Rothby, everybody.
05:25Michael, thank you for being here.
05:28Appreciate that.
05:29I'm very happy to be here, Jimmy.
05:31I just love any opportunity that I have to talk about space.
05:35So I see you have your model there.
05:37Tell us, how did the launch go?
05:39Well, Jimmy, the launch,
05:41you know, it went without a hitch.
05:43They lifted off from Cape Canaveral.
05:45Yep.
05:46And just like, you know,
05:50And then their trajectory took them, you know,
05:52into orbit, like,
05:55And now they're on their way, you know,
05:57all the way to the moon, like,
06:01Awesome.
06:03Then what's going to happen?
06:04Oh, well, maybe asteroids, you know,
06:07will fly by them
06:08and they'll have to, like,
06:09go on a different course, you know?
06:12You'd be the asteroid.
06:13Yeah.
06:15Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:16And they'll have to, like, go to a different,
06:17they'll be like,
06:18Uh-oh, malfunction!
06:20Oh, yeah.
06:20Yeah, yeah.
06:21And then maybe there's an alien.
06:22It's like,
06:23No.
06:24No.
06:25No, no, no.
06:26It's not that.
06:28There's, there's, there's not aliens.
06:30Oh, sorry.
06:31I just, I just thought it'd be fun
06:32if there was an alien, like,
06:34I come in peace.
06:35You know?
06:36No!
06:37It's not that, okay?
06:38We're not doing aliens.
06:40Now, Michael,
06:41you let Jimmy play with it.
06:43But he's not doing it right, uh.
06:46He's trying to do aliens.
06:48There's not aliens in this.
06:49Michael, you're at his show.
06:52Give it to him.
06:53Oh, my God, uh.
06:56Fine.
06:58Here.
07:08I don't even want it anymore.
07:17I guess it's kind of cool.
07:19It's like, you know, like,
07:30Like, gamma rays or something.
07:31Yeah, yeah, yeah.
07:32Yeah.
07:32And then the alien's like,
07:34the alien's like,
07:34take me to,
07:35not aliens!
07:36There's not aliens in this.
07:38I said it at the beginning.
07:40Forget this.
07:41All right.
07:42Michael Rossby, everybody.
07:47Michael Rossby, everybody.
07:55Don't say my name!
08:00Keep my name out of your mouth!
08:09Well, uh,
08:12Switching gears,
08:14I read that Bed Bath & Beyond
08:17is buying the Container Store
08:18for $150 million.
08:20Ooh.
08:21So now Bed Bath & Beyond
08:23owns two empty stores.
08:26How did you guys see this?
08:27The toy and game company Hasbro
08:29was just the victim
08:30of a cyber attack.
08:32Yeah, it's not good.
08:33Well, here to comment
08:34is the man behind
08:35Hasbro's biggest game,
08:36Monopoly.
08:37Please welcome
08:37Mr. Monopoly.
08:39Ooh!
08:43Welcome to the show,
08:44Mr. Monopoly.
08:45Uh, how are you doing?
08:46Oh, this is terrible, Jimmy.
08:49Just terrible.
08:51This hack is the worst thing
08:53that's ever happened.
08:55What do you mean?
08:56Well, the hackers,
08:58they know everything.
09:00They know all of my info.
09:02They know my home address,
09:04my emails,
09:06my social security number.
09:08But that's not all.
09:10They also know some
09:11more personal information.
09:15Oh, no.
09:16Like what?
09:17Well, they know my Tinder handle
09:19is at mustache tickler.
09:22Oh, no.
09:23They know I've been caught

09:29They even know
09:30that I'm in a thruple
09:31with Claire and Herman
09:32from Guess Who.
09:35You know,
09:36maybe you shouldn't
09:36be telling us this.
09:37And that's not all, Jimmy.
09:39They know Candyland
09:40is my favorite strip club.
09:42They have all my nudes
09:44where I'm wearing
09:46nothing but a
09:47strategically placed top hat
09:49and, well,
09:50do you know
09:50the planter's baby nut?
09:52Well, Mr. Peanut
09:54is not the father.
09:55I am.
09:57And if he found out,
09:58he'd kill me.
10:00Okay, okay, okay.
10:00Just stop talking.
10:02But it gets worse.
10:03It gets so much worse, Jimmy.
10:06No, no, no, no.
10:06Please, don't say it.
10:07Don't say it.
10:08Yes, it's true.
10:09No, no, no.
10:09Trust me.
10:10You do not want to admit it.
10:12I'm in the Epstein bio.
10:14All right, that's it.
10:15Get out of here.
10:15Mr. Monopoly, everybody.
10:17Thank you very much,
10:18Mr. Monopoly.
10:18Oh, my goodness.
10:19My gosh.
10:20It's crazy.
10:20Guys, well, listen to this.
10:21Hershey announced
10:22that they will soon
10:23go back to using chocolate
10:24for their Reese's products.
10:30What?
10:32This raises way more questions
10:33than it answers.
10:36Everyone about to give
10:37their kid an Easter basket
10:38full of Reese's was like,
10:39great timing?
10:40What?
10:41And finally, speaking of Easter,
10:43a new survey found that
10:44most people eat their peeps
10:45headfirst.
10:48Jesus heard and was like,
10:49guys, I think we're
10:50losing the plot here.
10:51We have a great show.
10:52Give it up for The Roots.
10:54Signed up.
10:55I'm like a broken teller, teller.
10:58Yeah, I made the world
10:59in a teller.
11:00Whoa.
11:01Got a choice on my trap.
11:02Asked it up on the ground.
11:04Oh, I'm like a broken teller.
11:08Thanks, everybody.
11:09What a show we have
11:10for you tonight.
11:12Last night,
11:14yesterday,
11:14it was April Fool's Day, right?
11:16Yeah.
11:16So, last year,
11:18April Fool's Day,
11:19this is true,
11:20I went home
11:21and my kids
11:23were excited to see me.
11:24They go,
11:25Dad, Dad's here.
11:26Dad's here.
11:26And my youngest,
11:28Franny, goes,
11:29Dad, can you put on something
11:30that you don't care
11:30if it gets messy?
11:32And I go,
11:34yeah, okay,
11:34I just got home.
11:35I go, sure, sure, sure.
11:36So, I put on a T-shirt.
11:37I go,
11:37she's probably going to put
11:38makeup on me.
11:39I don't know what,
11:40whatever.
11:40So, I go,
11:41I don't know what's happening.
11:42So, I go, yeah.
11:42And I come around the corner
11:44and she hits me in the face
11:46with a whipped cream pie.
11:48Whipped cream goes everywhere,
11:50goes all over the walls,
11:52nothing on my shirt,
11:53nothing,
11:53just all over my face.
11:54I go,
11:55what are you doing?
11:57Why would you do that?
11:58And she goes,
11:58April Fool's.
12:00No,
12:02that's not how
12:03April Fool's works.
12:05That's not April Fool's at all.
12:06So, I go,
12:07that's bad.
12:08I go,
12:08I'm going to get you,
12:09I'm going to get you back.
12:10You know,
12:11I will,
12:11I'll think of something.
12:12And she goes,
12:12do you think I care?
12:15Really?
12:16Where are you getting sassy?
12:17Where are you learning
12:17that stuff from?
12:18I go,
12:18seriously,
12:18I'll do something.
12:19I'll put snakes
12:20in your bed or something.
12:21You know,
12:22she goes,
12:22I like snakes.
12:24Whatever.
12:25So,
12:25I go,
12:26I get cleaned off.
12:27I go,
12:28and I was putting her to bed,
12:29and I gave her a kiss,
12:30said,
12:31all right,
12:31I love you.
12:31I turn the lights out,
12:32I go,
12:32good night,
12:33I love you.
12:34And I was leaving the room,
12:35she goes,
12:35dad?
12:35I go,
12:35and she goes,
12:36I don't really like snakes.
12:39And I said,
12:40do you think I care?
12:43Because they have to learn,
12:45eventually,
12:46what real life is.
12:48300 snakes.
12:49Anyways,
12:50last night,
12:50finished the show,
12:51great show,
12:52we had so much fun.
12:53I'm on my way
12:54home,
12:54I get a text,
12:55because now they're texting.
12:57And they go,
12:57dad,
12:57when are you coming home?
12:58I go,
12:58soon,
12:59you'll see,
12:59I'll see.
13:00She goes,
13:01okay,
13:01make sure you're wearing something,
13:02you don't care if it gets messy.
13:04And then a picture of her looking like evil.
13:08And I go,
13:08oh, gosh.
13:09So I go,
13:10all right,
13:10I already know I'm going to get pied,
13:12or something's going to happen.
13:12So I went home,
13:13I put a t-shirt on,
13:14and I stood in the shower.
13:17And this happened.
13:23Dad?
13:27I'm so mad.
13:28Are you ready?
13:29No.
13:30I'm so mad.
13:32I'm just standing here,
13:34because I'm hurting notes.
13:35It's not as soon as I am.
13:37I also licked it.
13:43Oh, my goodness.
13:47Unbelievable.
13:48Good timing.
13:49Good timing.
13:50I also licked it,
13:51because I also licked it.
13:52Wow.
13:53And her sister was videoing the whole time.
13:56Yeah,
13:56so anyways,
13:57happy April Fool's Day to Winnie and Franny.

14:37to predict

18:19It's a one-two punch.
18:20Did you know about that?
18:21When did you find out about this book?
18:22So, this is crazy.
18:23I got the call that I was going to be on SNL.
18:25I didn't know who the musical guest was going to be.
18:27And then I got a call from Jack White.
18:29And he was like, what do you think?
18:31Should we do this SNL thing?
18:32I was like, what are you talking about?
18:33He's like, wait, they didn't tell you?
18:35I was like, no!
18:36You're going to be the musical guest?
18:37And he was like, I'm thinking about it.
18:39Should we?
18:39I wanted to check with you first.
18:41I was like, hell yes, we should!
18:43Yeah!
18:44Because I've always secretly wanted to, like, party with Jack White.
18:48Because I was like, wait a second, we're like the opposite sides of the Jack Spectrum.
18:52Yes!
18:53It's like a no-brainer, but it's never, we've never had the opportunity.
18:56And we're going to finally mix it up.
18:58Yes!
18:59Let's see what happens.
19:00It's exciting.
19:02Let's talk about the Super Mario Galaxy movie.
19:05This movie is going to be huge, bud.
19:07Congrats.
19:08You do great on this.
19:09The first Super Mario made over a billion.
19:11Yeah.
19:12Billion-ion-ion-ion-ion.
19:15Can you believe that?
19:16Dude, that's amazing words.
19:18A billion.
19:19That's nuts.
19:19And then your song, Peaches, by the way, was on the Billboard Hot 100.
19:23That was the best!
19:24That's what I'm talking about!
19:26That was the best!
19:28Dude, did you, is that exciting to have your song on the charts?
19:32Yeah.
19:32I was really stoked that it went viral, as the kids say.
19:36Yes!
19:37And it was a sweet little jam that just sort of came up organically while we were recording.
19:43We were like halfway through the process.
19:45We were like a year into recording Bowser voice.
19:48And the writers and director was like, we have an idea for maybe Bowser sings a song.
19:53And I was like, nah, that's a bad idea.
19:54I'm not going to sing in this movie, guys.
19:56I didn't sign up for a musical.
19:58And then I was like, all right, let me hear what you got.
20:00And they sent it over.
20:02And I was like, this is funny.
20:03We got to do this.
20:05And I'm really glad that they did.
20:07Because it's like a beautiful little nugget of joy in the middle of that movie.
20:12I was really stoked.
20:13It was the Peaches?
20:14Yeah, man.
20:15Bowser's got a soft side.
20:17He's a lover and a fighter.
20:19Ooh!
20:20I love that.
20:21I remember I was playing it for my kids.
20:24Because I was like, dude, you got to hear this.
20:26And they...
20:27It's so cool.
20:29And with my style, we're going to roar.
20:35Please understand.
20:37Yeah.
20:38And we didn't rehearse it.
20:39I don't know if that's the right key.
20:42I give him a little face.
20:44That's what I've done.
20:44That's the magic.
20:45I can't help it.
20:46He crushed it as Bowser.
20:48I think, though, I don't know if he got enough respect.
20:52Well, you know, I mean, Bowser got a lot of love in the fans, the Nintendo fans.
20:57But I thank you for bringing that up.
20:59No problem.
20:59Bowser did not get any attention or love from the Academy.
21:04And I was like, dude, Peaches is a banger.
21:08Everyone's singing.
21:08Your kids are singing.
21:09My kids are singing.
21:09I was like, for a second, I was like, I think we might get a nomination.
21:15And sure enough, we did not.
21:17What?
21:18And I even, like, campaigned for it a little bit.
21:20I'm not ashamed to say.
21:22I was trying to get that nomination.
21:24Yeah.
21:25And then not only did I not get him a nomination, but my archenemy, the Gauze, Ryan Gosling.
21:33Oh.
21:33Did get a nomination.
21:35And I was like, son of a biscuit.
21:38This Gosling always snacking on my potatoes.
21:43And I look, I love I'm Just Can.
21:45Love Barbie movies.
21:46Yeah, of course.
21:47But.
21:48But I can't pretend like there wasn't a little professional jealousy.
21:52Yeah.
21:53And then I wrote a song about how jealous Bowser was.
21:57Do you want to hear it?
21:58I'll just, it's really short.
22:01It's really short.
22:02Like, just imagine me in, like, a full Bowser costume right now.
22:07I can't believe I wasn't nominated.
22:13Bowser shall have his revenge.
22:17And that's.
22:17Oh, my God.
22:21That's really dumb.
22:23That's so funny.
22:26It's very Bowser to be jealous.
22:29Yeah, of course.
22:30Also, Ryan Gosling, too.
22:31The Gauze!
22:32The Gauze!
22:33Those are the most likable dudes out there.
22:34I want to show everyone a clip.
22:35Here's Jack Black in the Super Mario Galaxy movie.
22:38Take a look.
22:40Five seconds!
22:41Hey, get back here.
22:43No!
22:44You can't catch the wind.
22:50I just kind of did.
22:52It was a metaphor!
22:54It was a metaphor!
22:59Stop it!
23:06You should probably spit him out.
23:15That was intense!
23:18Jack Black, everybody!
23:20The Super Mario Galaxy movie is in theaters now,
23:24and you can see him hosting SNL this weekend with Jeff White.
23:28More tonight's show after the break.
23:30Stick around, everybody!
23:34We'll see you next time.
23:36We'll see you next time.
23:37We'll see you next time.
23:40We'll see you next time.
23:42We'll see you next time.
23:45We'll see you next time.
23:46We'll see you next time.
23:46Our next guest is a talented actress
23:48who stars in the series Your Friends and Neighbors.
23:52Season 2 premieres tomorrow on Apple TV.
23:55Please welcome Olivia Munn!
23:59Why can't we be friends?
24:02Why can't we be friends?
24:05Why can't we be friends?
24:05Why can't we be friends?
24:08Why can't we be friends?
24:09That's right!
24:09Thank you very much!
24:12That's right!
24:13Come on!
24:14Olivia!
24:15Hi!
24:16Welcome back!
24:17You look gorgeous.
24:19Thank you for coming back.
24:20Oh my gosh, I always love being here.
24:21How you doing?
24:22How's the fam?
24:23How are the kids?
24:23How's Malcolm?
24:25Everybody is doing great.
24:26Malcolm's doing great.
24:27Send him my regards, please.
24:28I will.
24:29Yeah.
24:29He loves you.
24:30I love that little kid.
24:31He's so cute.
24:31How old is he now?
24:32He's four.
24:34And Maymay is 18 months.
24:35Oh my gosh!
24:36I know, and they're just little best friends,
24:37and they're just the best.
24:38Oh my, and you told me that Malcolm's into Jiu Jitsu?
24:42Yeah, I just got him into Jiu Jitsu about a month.
24:44Yeah, well I did martial arts growing up.
24:47You know, it was very important to my mom,
24:49and so all the kids in our family,
24:51we had to do martial arts,
24:52and we had to do it until we made black belts.
24:54So it was very important in our family.
24:55Really? What kind of?
24:56Taekwondo.
24:57Wow.
24:58And so I was like,
25:00it's really important for me that he gets into Jiu Jitsu,
25:02and it's so cute because he's in there,
25:03and before he goes in there,
25:04he bows before he walks onto the mat.
25:06It's so cute.
25:07I know, it's the sweetest thing.
25:08She's this big, yeah.
25:09I know, it's so cute.
25:10But the other day, I was getting him changed,
25:13putting on his gi and tying his belt,
25:15and we had spent the whole day playing outside
25:17without shoes on.
25:18Yeah.
25:18And so I looked at his feet and I was like,
25:19they're filthy.
25:20I was like, let me just wipe them down.
25:21He was like, no, I don't want you to.
25:23And I was like, no, you have to.
25:24They're so dirty.
25:25And he was like, why do I have to wash my feet?
25:27I said, well, because you're going to share the mat
25:28with other kids and you need your feet to be clean.
25:30Yeah.
25:31So he begrudgingly let me wipe his feet off,
25:33and then as soon as I was done, he bolted.
25:36He was about to step off onto the street,
25:38and I was like, Malcolm, you're going to get your feet dirty.
25:40Yes.
25:41And he turned around and gave me that look.
25:43Yeah, yeah.
25:43And then he almost stepped off,
25:47and as soon as he had one foot in the air,
25:50I went, hey, respect the dojo.
25:54And I was like, who is that?
25:57I was like, am I a tiger mom?
25:59I had no idea that I even had that in me.
26:01Who says that?
26:02Respect the dojo.
26:04I love it.
26:04I have never said that in my life.
26:07Maybe it was ingrained in your mind.
26:09My sensei, like years ago, I mean, my first sensei, Master Yoon,
26:13he said things like that.
26:15Respect the dojo?
26:15And I don't talk like that.
26:16I think it's a t-shirt now.
26:18You have to make that.
26:19I love respect the dojo.
26:20Respect the dojo.
26:21Oh my God.
26:21And by the way it worked, he respected the dojo.
26:24Yeah, that's right.
26:24See, he learned.
26:25That's right.
26:26Good kid.
26:27Good kid, Malcolm.
26:29Your friends and neighbors, congratulations on Apple TV.
26:32Thank you so much.
26:33The first episode, season two, comes out tomorrow.
26:36It's already picked up for season three.
26:38Come on.
26:38Olivia Munn.
26:42That's how you do it.
26:43Yeah, thank you.
26:44You guys have great chemistry on the show.
26:46Great cast, Amanda Peet, Jon Hamm.
26:48And now James Marsden.
26:49And now James Marsden, by the way.
26:51Yeah.
26:52Here's you and James Marsden, by the way.
26:53Yeah, that's us at our party the other night.
26:55Yeah.
26:56Yeah.
26:56He's fantastic.
26:57Have you known James for a while?
26:59I, okay, I actually have known James, but I've known him for so long.
27:03So, I was born in Oklahoma, but then raised him in Tokyo.
27:07And then at the age of 16, we came back to Oklahoma.
27:10And I went to this high school where it was incredibly difficult to make friends.
27:14You know, because at that age, everyone already is friended up.
27:16Yeah.
27:17And I had a really difficult time, but there was one person who asked to be my friend.
27:22And her name is Jenny Marsden.
27:23And it's James' little sister.
27:25No way.
27:26Yeah.
27:26Yeah.
27:26And being close to this sister Jenny, it just made it more attainable.
27:31You know, this like, this lofty goal.
27:33It was like, oh, if somebody else made it, maybe I, I could make it too.
27:36And it wasn't for like 13 or 15 years later where I had some success and I'm in Hollywood
27:41and I am at this party and I see him across the way and I'm like, oh my God, it's,
27:45I don't,
27:45he's, there's no way.
27:46He'll never remember.
27:47Yeah.
27:47So I went right over to him and we just were friends since then.
27:50And now we're working together.
27:51Yeah.
27:52In that full circle now you're working together.
27:53Yeah.
27:53It's a fantastic story.
27:56What, what's happening with season two?
27:59What's going on?
28:00How do we set up what's happening in season two?
28:01So season two is, you know, James Marsden's character comes in like the great Gatsby,
28:06like the Count of Monte Cristo.
28:07And my character is at like just the bottom.
28:11She is just out of prison and she has lost everything and no one wants to be her friend.
28:16And she's just a social pariah.
28:18And so she's trying to make her way back into everyone's, you know, good graces.
28:23Yeah.
28:23Perfect.
28:24It's great drama, but also little bits of sprinkles of comedy in there.
28:28And you're really great.
28:29I want to show a clip.
28:30Here's Olivia Munn in season two of Your Friends and Neighbors.
28:33Take a look.
28:33Sam, you made it.
28:35This looks great.
28:37How did you do all this so fast?
28:39How did I do all this?
28:40I have a team.
28:41Of course you do.
28:42Come on, let's get you a drink.
28:43Oh, thanks.
28:44But I just wanted to stop by and congratulate you.
28:46I'm not staying.
28:48What?
28:49What do you mean you're not staying?
28:50Of course you're staying.
28:51You're my only friend in Westmont Village.
28:52You can't leave me here with all these people.
28:53Come on.
28:54These people will love you, but I just don't have it in me to deal with all the withering
28:59mean girl stares tonight.
29:02Oh, they don't love you.
29:05I burned some bridges.
29:07Well, take it from someone who's elevated bridge burning to an art form.
29:11There's always another way across.
29:13Come on.
29:14No.
29:15I'm going to go.
29:16Are you sure?
29:17No.
29:17I'm going to go.
29:18I'm going to go.
29:19Oh, come on now.
29:21Olivia Munn.
29:22Season two of Your Friends and Neighbors premieres tomorrow on Apple TV.
29:27We'll be right back, everybody.
29:41Our next chef is making his acting debut as Michael Jackson in the new movie, Michael,
29:48which premieres April 24th in theaters and IMAX.
29:52Please welcome Jafar Jackson.
30:16Jafar Jackson, welcome to The Tonight Show.
30:19It's amazing.
30:20I love the energy.
30:21Thank you for coming on.
30:22I can't wait to talk about Michael and what a great performance you've done in this film.
30:27This is your first movie role.
30:30You're playing Michael Jackson.
30:33Okay?
30:33That's as big as you could probably pick for any character to portray in a film.
30:41But also this character that you're playing, Michael Jackson, the one that only happens to be your uncle.
30:48Yes.
30:49So Jermaine Jackson is your dad?
30:52Yes, Jermaine is my father.
30:53I love Jermaine Jackson.
30:54You've got to give him my best.
30:56Oh, absolutely.
30:56I love him.
30:57Yeah.
30:57Yeah.
30:59So how did you, how did this happen?
31:01You found out they're making a biopic?
31:03Walk me through it.
31:04Yeah.
31:05So I saw an article where it said that Graham King got the rights to tell Michael's story.
31:11Yeah.
31:11And I forgot where I saw it.
31:13It was online somewhere.
31:14And Graham King has made Bohemian Rhapsody.
31:16Oh, he's made incredible films, but he made Bohemian Rhapsody.
31:19The Queen biopic.
31:20Yes.
31:20And my first thought was, who are they going to get to play Michael?
31:24And honestly, I didn't think of myself.
31:26I was like, this is going to be really interesting.
31:29Yeah.
31:30Because I didn't know.
31:32So fast forward a couple of months, I get a call from Graham King.
31:35He wants to have a Zoom.
31:38And I can tell just by that call what this was going to lead to in some way.
31:43And then one thing led to the other.
31:45We had lunch and he's kind of looking at me.
31:47Like he asked me, have you ever acted before?
31:49I said, never.
31:51I've never wanted to be an actor.
31:53And I initially told him, you know, I grew up wanting to play golf.
31:58I got into music.
32:00Okay.
32:01If he's making a golf movie, sure.
32:04It definitely wasn't anything Michael related, but I grew up loving, obviously,
32:08watching Michael's videos and studying his moves and things like that.
32:11But fast forward to six months in, he got me a coach that I start to work on a lot
32:18of scenes from other films.
32:19And it was a multi-year process.
32:21It wasn't just a traditional audition.
32:23I definitely had to earn the role for a two-year process, really.
32:29Let me just show everybody.
32:30This is Michael Jackson in the Thriller video in 1983.
32:34This is Jafar as Michael.
32:42And this was...
32:44You film this in the same location where Michael did the Thriller video?
32:48Same exact location for two nights all through the night.
32:52And we actually had a full moon on one of those nights.
32:55It was just crazy.
32:56Dude, that's the kind of Michael Jackson magic.
32:58You had a full moon?
32:59We had a full moon and it was cold.
33:01I know he shot during the summer, but just being at that location, seeing the zombies around me...
33:07Yeah.
33:08...was...
33:09I was like...
33:09I mean, that's one of my favorite videos other than Smooth Criminal.
33:12But that...
33:13To be in the real location was incredible.
33:16It really was.
33:17You did such a...
33:18It's a fantastic job.
33:19And I want everyone to see a clip.
33:21But first, I want to let everyone know that our friends at IMAX are giving everyone in the audience two
33:25tickets to see Michael in IMAX.
33:30Yes!
33:32Come on now!
33:35Thank you, Jafar.
33:36Here's the clip.
33:38Here's Jafar Jackson in Michael.
33:40Take a look.
33:41She said I'm the one
33:44But the casting of my son
33:50Can't keep me
33:58whoo...
33:59Whoo!
34:03Whoo!
34:05I'm the one
34:07Whoo!
34:09Whoo!
34:10Whoo!
34:12Whoo!
34:15Whoo!
34:17Jafar Jackson, everybody!
34:20Michael hits theaters at IMAX April 24th.
34:24We'll be right back with more Tonight Show.
34:25Stick around.
34:27Well done, baby.
34:28Yeah.
34:30One, two, one, two.
34:39Our next guest is headlining New York's Radio City Music Hall
34:44April 23rd and 30th, making his Tonight Show debut.
34:48Please welcome the very funny Modi!
34:57How are ya?
35:02It is so great to be here.
35:05I just finished the European leg of our tour,
35:08and it's just so good to be back in America.
35:14Oh, and to hear English and to speak English, what a treat.
35:20Do you know how lucky we are that this is what we speak?
35:23There is zero effort in speaking English.
35:26I'm speaking to you right now in English.
35:28There's no effort.
35:30You breathe in.
35:31You breathe out.
35:32You put some words, and you're done.
35:34We were in countries where I...
35:37You can't imagine what they have to go through to communicate.
35:39We were in Holland.
35:41They speak Dutch.
35:42They have to engage their core,
35:45suck air in through their ears,
35:47and...
35:57They sound like someone speaking Yiddish and having a stroke.
36:03Paris, we were in France.
36:05Do you know how hard French is to speak?
36:07Even the French give up in the middle.
36:10I think he's going to speak very well, but I...
36:20I'm married.
36:21I'm married.
36:22I have a...
36:23I had a...
36:23Just an anniversary just passed.
36:25Yes.
36:26Yes.
36:27Married.
36:28Anniversary to my husband.
36:29I have a husband.
36:31Yes.
36:32Yes.
36:33And whenever fans see us,
36:36they always come up to us and go,
36:38Hey, you're Modi,
36:39and you're his gay husband.
36:42And they say it as if I'm not gay.
36:45But I happen to have a gay husband.
36:47People have asked,
36:49Is Modi gay?
36:49I don't know.
36:50But his husband is.
36:52Yeah.
36:53I was told I don't give off a gay vibe.
36:57Yeah.
36:57Leo and I live in Manhattan,
36:58a big building with a million people
37:00and a lot of gossip.
37:02A lot of gossip.
37:03And the woman that's in charge of all the gossip
37:06lives on our floor.
37:09I'm not going to mention her name.
37:11Sharon Berkowitz.
37:13Yeah.
37:149F, right when you make the turn.
37:17Two months ago,
37:18she corners me in the elevator and says,
37:20Uh-huh, uh-huh.
37:22I don't know if you've heard,
37:24but the lawyer that bought the apartment above yours
37:27is a homosexual.
37:31I said, Sharon, you're kidding.
37:33I've been sleeping with him all this time.
37:35I had no idea he's a lawyer.
37:41Fans are very supportive
37:42and have lots of advice for us.
37:44Lots of advice.
37:45Yep.
37:46You guys are so cute.
37:47Oh, my God.
37:48You guys should...
37:50You guys should have a baby.
37:53We can't.
37:56Did you miss that class in junior high school?
37:59No, there's ways.
38:00There's ways.
38:01With a surrogate for only $220,000,
38:05you can try.
38:06It doesn't always work.
38:07It doesn't always take.
38:10Leeu and I took $220,000
38:12and redid all the bathrooms
38:14in our Connecticut home.
38:17Yes.
38:17Yes.
38:19And they all work.
38:21Yes.
38:21They all took.
38:22They took seven weeks.
38:24But now we have the heated floors
38:26and the steam shower.
38:27Lots of joy we have from this.
38:29Yeah, yeah.
38:30Lots of advice they have for us.
38:32You guys should rescue a dog.
38:35We rescued a Porsche.
38:38Yeah.
38:39It was in a car lot of the dealership.
38:42It's all alone.
38:43There's almost a year old.
38:45Couldn't just leave it there.
38:47Leeu fell in love with it.
38:48Now Leeu brings it everywhere.
38:49So it's a win-win.
38:51Yeah.
38:52Yes.
38:56My husband is younger.

39:07Yeah.
39:08Yeah.
39:09We have small little generational differences.
39:12For example, I wear a watch.
39:14I've worn a watch ever since I was 13 years old.
39:17Millennials don't wear watches.
39:19But this past summer, we're on the beach.
39:21I look over.
39:22I see Leeu wearing a black watch.
39:25Leo, what time is it?
39:28It doesn't tell you the time.
39:30I said, your watch doesn't tell you the time.
39:33It's not a watch.
39:33It's a whoop.
39:36I said, well, what does your whoop tell you?
39:38It tells me how I'm doing, how I'm actually doing.
39:45So I look at my wrist.
39:46I see a gold Rolex.
39:48I know I'm doing good.
39:52And I also know what time it is.
39:59Oh, my God.
40:03Danny Robson will be proud.
