00:00:08Big city, bright lights, this is the place where stars are born, baby.
00:00:15More idols have come through this town than anywhere else in the world.
00:00:19The best singers in the country are here to put on a show.
00:00:26But the thing is, this city has no idea what's about to happen.
00:00:37Hollywood Week has arrived in Music City.
00:00:40And the lights are brighter than ever.
00:00:47With the band behind them, it's time for our idol hopefuls to face the music.
00:00:55Hollywood Week in Nashville, outstanding.
00:00:59Music City is like holy ground.
00:01:00The energy in this city is different.
00:01:02It's super nerve-wracking, but super exciting.
00:01:04Hollywood Week in Music City just feels surreal.
00:01:08They'll have one song, one shot to leave it all on the stage.
00:01:13My life could be changing right now.
00:01:16Buckle up, y'all, because this is American Idol.
00:01:21I've made you to knock me out.
00:01:27One hundred twenty-seven of the nation's most talented singers have graduated to the next step in this already epic
00:01:34season.
00:01:37Hollywood Week, Music City takeover.
00:01:40We just had auditions.
00:01:42Moving right into Hollywood Week.
00:01:44This is the earliest they've ever went right in there with the full band.
00:01:49One shot.
00:01:50Some of them have never played with a band in their lives.
00:01:54Okay, here it goes.
00:01:55Some people can handle that, and some people can't handle that.
00:01:57We're out for blood.
00:01:59Each hopeful will sing for the judges.
00:02:01And more than fifteen hundred eager idol fans.
00:02:04Here we come here.
00:02:06Throughout the day, the judges will stop down.
00:02:08Alright, what do we think?
00:02:09Deliberate and begin making some tough decisions.
00:02:13Let's sink or swim.
00:02:13For most, this is where the dream ends.
00:02:17I'm not sure if that was the right song.
00:02:20Bring it on!
00:02:22I love it!
00:02:27But for the best of the best, the journey will continue.
00:02:31Your dreams are still alive.
00:02:33Into the all-new Golden Room.
00:02:36Where the only thing to do is wait.
00:02:39Still in the race for the top 30.
00:02:41But nothing is final.
00:02:43We got more bloodshed coming.
00:02:45Because the decision that matters the most comes at the end of the round.
00:02:49We're out for blood.
00:02:50We're gonna be looking for that next level that instantly goes from American Idol stage to that Grammy Award winning
00:02:57artist.
00:02:58That's what we're looking for.
00:03:01Hollywood Week Music City Takeover starts right now.
00:03:05Ladies and gentlemen, ladies and gentlemen, are you ready?
00:03:09Say hello to your judges.
00:03:13Let's get this party going.
00:03:17Oh yeah!
00:03:18Coming all the way from Alabama, here's 26-year-old Bryant Thomas!
00:03:35My last audition was pretty cool.
00:03:37Don't look at me.
00:03:38We're not looking.
00:03:40No one had really seen my face before my audition, so it was great to finally be able to step
00:03:47down into the spotlight.
00:03:48Wow.
00:03:49Wow.
00:03:50Everything after that just felt like magical.
00:03:52Hey!
00:03:54So.
00:03:56Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!
00:03:58Ah, congratulations!
00:04:02Welcome to my hometown, Mobile, Alabama.
00:04:08I started supporting myself completely off of music with a band of guys.
00:04:14You know, we played three to five shows a week.
00:04:17So I'm used to performing on stage, but never in such a beautiful theater as this or being in front
00:04:24of that giant live band.
00:04:26It's nerve-wracking, but this is my opportunity to really, like, show people who I am.
00:04:33I'm going to be singing Champagne Problems by Taylor Swift for you guys.
00:04:37Oh, wow.
00:04:39Okay.
00:04:40Oh, my God.
00:04:44You booked the night train for a reason
00:04:48So you could sit there in this hurt
00:04:56Bustling crowds of silent sleepers
00:05:00You're not sure which is worth
00:05:05Cause I dropped your hand while dancing
00:05:10Left you out there standing
00:05:13Crest falling on the landing
00:05:16Champagne problems
00:05:18Your mom's drinking in your pocket
00:05:21My picture in your wallet
00:05:24Your heart was glass
00:05:26I dropped it
00:05:27Champagne problems
00:05:31From the Chevy door
00:05:33November flush in your flannel coat
00:05:36This storm was once a madhouse
00:05:38I made a joke
00:05:40Well, it's made for me
00:05:41How evergreen
00:05:43Our group of friends
00:05:44Don't think we'll say that word again
00:05:47Then soon they'll have to know
00:05:49To deck the halls that we once walked through
00:05:52To walk for the money
00:05:54Two for the show
00:05:55I never was ready
00:05:56So I watch you go
00:05:58Sometimes you just don't know the answer
00:06:01Someone's on their knees
00:06:03And ask you
00:06:03Who'd have made such a lovely bride
00:06:06What a shame she stuck in her head
00:06:08They said
00:06:09But she'll find the real thing instead
00:06:11She'll patch up your tapestry
00:06:14That I shred in
00:06:15Hold your hand while dancing
00:06:18Never leave you standing
00:06:21Crest falling on the landing
00:06:25Champagne problems
00:06:32Thank you guys so much
00:06:35Oh yeah
00:06:37Passionate
00:06:37Oh yeah
00:06:39Hi
00:06:39Okay
00:06:40You are a showman
00:06:47I love your vibe
00:06:48Your style
00:06:49I love that you picked that song
00:06:51Because I mean
00:06:52I feel like you're going to keep us on our toes
00:06:54And I love that
00:06:55And you've got a great voice
00:06:56On top of it
00:06:57It's so soulful
00:07:00Very cool
00:07:00Thank you
00:07:02For now
00:07:03Bryant will have to wait
00:07:05To learn his fate in the competition
00:07:07This year
00:07:08The judges will watch groups of performances
00:07:09Back to back
00:07:10Very cool
00:07:11Then they'll deliberate
00:07:12And deliver results
00:07:13All adding up to the biggest cut
00:07:15In Idol history
00:07:17Alright
00:07:18Cue it
00:07:19Did they clean up the glasses?
00:07:20Did they get them?
00:07:21I thought those were truck stop glasses
00:07:24Who's next?
00:07:26Who we got?
00:07:27Who we got?
00:07:29Alright here we go
00:07:31This is a really big moment for me
00:07:33I'm ready to get out there
00:07:34And just do what I gotta do
00:07:36Never in a million years
00:07:37I thought I would be here
00:07:39The audition with the judges
00:07:40Went really good
00:07:42It was such a vibe
00:07:43Oh boy
00:07:44Hi Miss Carol
00:07:45Hi
00:07:45Hi
00:07:46And just having my son
00:07:47On the Idol journey
00:07:48Has been a joy
00:07:52God only knows
00:07:53What to say about you
00:07:55I've been doing music
00:07:56For six years
00:07:58I've had a lot of ups and downs
00:08:00And I was doubting myself
00:08:01But I never gave up
00:08:03That fire was still burning
00:08:04You want it bigger?
00:08:05Yeah I want it bigger
00:08:06Oh
00:08:07I'll make sure we're big there
00:08:08I just want to pour out my heart
00:08:09Oh let's go
00:08:10The song I'm singing today is
00:08:12I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz
00:08:14It speaks to me
00:08:15Because the first thing I thought about
00:08:17Is just me and my son
00:08:19So when I sing the song
00:08:20I'm singing to him
00:08:21I think at the very beginning
00:08:23I want you to sing it
00:08:24Like you're singing a lullaby
00:08:26Like you're rocking him to sleep
00:08:29Just really simple
00:08:31I do want to be somebody for my son
00:08:33I want him to know
00:08:35You can do anything you put your mind to do
00:08:37You want to come watch your mom with me?
00:08:39Okay come around this way
00:08:45You sit in my seat
00:08:46Ladies and gentlemen
00:08:47Make some noise for Keela Richardson
00:08:56My name is Keela
00:08:57And I'll be singing
00:08:58I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz
00:09:01I want to let my son know that
00:09:03Never give up baby boy
00:09:04I love you
00:09:05This is for you baby
00:09:16When I look into your eyes
00:09:19It's like watching the night's gas
00:09:25Or a beautiful sunrise
00:09:30Well there's so much stay home
00:09:37Even the stars they burn
00:09:43Some even fall to the earth
00:09:48And we got a lot to earn
00:09:54And God knows we're worth it
00:10:00I don't want to be someone
00:10:03Who walks away so easily
00:10:04I'm here to make the difference
00:10:06I can make
00:10:11And in the end
00:10:13You're still my friend
00:10:16Yeah we got a lot at stake
00:10:21I won't give up
00:10:25I won't give up
00:10:27I won't give up
00:10:36I won't give up
00:10:48Even in the skies
00:10:49Even if the sky
00:10:51It make it rub
00:10:53True I'm giving you all
00:10:56All my love
00:10:59I'm still looking up
00:11:04No I won't give up
00:11:30I don't know how you sang with him looking at you like that
00:11:35Listen it's so good to see you here
00:11:37I love your look
00:11:38I love the song
00:11:40You just slayed that
00:11:41And even showed us more of what you are
00:11:44Thank you so much
00:11:47You did great mom
00:11:48I mean
00:11:49Your confidence
00:11:51The way you just sung to the whole audience
00:11:54Really warmed my heart
00:11:56Thank you so much
00:11:57It's for you baby
00:11:58I love you Juju
00:11:59So much
00:12:02Whoever's most likely to get fired is me
00:12:05And he may have just took my job
00:12:06Don't even think about it
00:12:09Great job
00:12:10That was beautiful
00:12:10Thank you guys so much
00:12:16I'm just
00:12:17I'm overwhelmed
00:12:18I like to sing that song like that
00:12:20It was one of the best moments of my life
00:12:22Your mom did really great
00:12:24You wanna go see her?
00:12:26I just hope I do
00:12:27Just get to the next round of that performance
00:12:29It's for my son
00:12:30So we gotta get there
00:12:31You wanna make this up tonight?
00:12:34Yes
00:12:35Okay
00:12:36You did amazing
00:12:37That's
00:12:38I love you more than everything
00:12:42Music City
00:12:43You ready to rock?
00:12:45Stay tuned as Hollywood Week continues
00:12:47With your viral audition favorites
00:12:50Fighting for a spot in the top 30
00:12:52Hollywood Week in Music City is exciting
00:12:55And it's drama
00:12:56And it's stressful
00:12:57You caused so much excitement
00:12:59He almost rolls his ass off the back of this bad boy
00:13:02A lot of people are going home today
00:13:04I really hope I'm not one of them
00:13:06I gave them my everything
00:13:07She walked out like
00:13:09This is my stage
00:13:10You are a star
00:13:12Get ready for the ride
00:13:14It's gonna be really, really special
00:13:17At least I look hot when I cry
00:13:23Welcome back to American Idol
00:13:25Tonight, our singers anxiously await their turn to hit the stage
00:13:29In hopes of surviving the most brutal cut in Hollywood Week history
00:13:35Knowing only 30 of us are gonna make it through is a super scary feeling
00:13:39I mean, this is crazy
00:13:42It makes my belly hurt
00:13:43I feel like I'm gonna throw up
00:13:44Oh, Lord have mercy
00:13:46I just wanted to come and sit and listen to people
00:13:48But you're the butcher now
00:13:50I know
00:13:50It's terrible
00:13:53It's a war right now
00:13:54But, you know, I've dreamed of this my entire life
00:13:57So getting to the top 30
00:13:59This would change literally everything for me
00:14:02Make some noise for Nibby
00:14:03National!
00:14:05How we do it, baby!
00:14:07Oh, yeah
00:14:09I, yeah
00:14:11I believe
00:14:12Singing a Carrie Underwood song in front of Carrie
00:14:15Was definitely a little nerve-wracking
00:14:16But she gave me, like, really good advice
00:14:18If you start off out of the gate going 100 miles an hour
00:14:22There's nowhere left to go
00:14:23So if the audition was 100 miles per hour
00:14:26What speed will this be?
00:14:28Slow
00:14:28We're gonna take it slow
00:14:29We're gonna be sexy about it
00:14:31We're gonna be sexy
00:14:31Oh, yeah
00:14:32I'm excited
00:14:33I'm ready
00:14:34Let's see it
00:14:35Get with me!
00:14:39Let's take our time tonight
00:14:43Girl
00:14:46Mother's son
00:14:46All the stars are watching
00:14:50Underneath the chandelier
00:14:54We're dancing all alone
00:14:58There's no reason to hide
00:15:02What we're feeling inside
00:15:04Right now
00:15:09So, baby, let's just turn down the light
00:15:13And close the door
00:15:16Oh, I love that dress
00:15:19But you won't need it
00:15:22Anymore
00:15:24No, you won't need it no more
00:15:27Let's just kiss
00:15:29Till we're naked, baby
00:15:31Versace on the floor
00:15:34Come on!
00:15:36Come on!
00:15:59On the floor
00:16:04There you go!
00:16:06Thank you!
00:16:08When you cause a judge so much excitement that he almost rolls his ass off the back of this damn
00:16:15thing right here
00:16:16It is clear that you are doing something entertaining
00:16:21You would just perform it
00:16:23I will tell you, though, song choice is going to be the master of air
00:16:28We know you have a voice in there
00:16:32We know you have a voice in there, okay?
00:16:32So, if there's a next time, I want you to come out and show it off
00:16:36But overall, you did a great job
00:16:41So, Libby now waits for results while the round continues
00:16:46I'm nervous because I'm hearing so many amazing singers
00:16:59This performance is a huge deal
00:17:01I get the chance to show the judges that I'm worth it
00:17:05Like I knew I would
00:17:07You look like a star and you have such a big, big voice
00:17:11But I had trouble picking up a lot of those lyrics
00:17:14Because of the bending and the rounding out and the back phrasing and all that
00:17:19But, you know, we'll see what happens later
00:17:22Okay
00:17:22Thank you
00:17:24I just thought that I had done better than he said
00:17:29But apparently I didn't
00:17:33I'm a little nervous
00:17:34I'm getting a little overwhelmed
00:17:36The judges, they have some really tough decisions to make today
00:17:39But I want to be one of the top 30, like, so bad that I could hit a backflip right
00:17:46now
00:17:47I can't flip, but I'll try
00:17:53I never thought I would make it to Hollywood week
00:17:57But singing has always been my dream
00:18:00And my dad, he just encouraged me to do whatever I put my mind to
00:18:04And he was like, baby, you gonna get it
00:18:06I am missing my dad, wishing that he was here
00:18:13My dad passed away 11 years ago from cancer
00:18:16I was 13 years old
00:18:21I was a daddy's girl
00:18:22I was there every day
00:18:24Every step of the way
00:18:25Take an angel by the wind
00:18:27At the hospital, I fed him
00:18:29I gave him water
00:18:31Gave him his
00:18:32I was there to the very end
00:18:44Dear dad, I've lived so much life since you've been gone
00:18:48And sometimes I wish I could sit with you
00:18:50And tell you all of it
00:18:52I carry you with me
00:18:54In my heart
00:18:56Every step forward
00:18:59I miss you more than words could ever say
00:19:04Love your baby girl
00:19:07I know he's proud
00:19:10With this performance
00:19:13I know he's looking down and shining down on me
00:19:17And when I hit this stage, the heavens will be dancing
00:19:29How did you get here?
00:19:34Nobody's supposed to be here
00:19:39I've tried that love thing for the last time
00:19:46But when I turn around
00:19:49Again, love has knocked me down
00:19:55My heart got broke
00:19:56You know it hurts so bad
00:19:58I'm sad, safe
00:20:01Love wins again
00:20:03So I place my heart under lock and key
00:20:06To take some time and take care of me
00:20:10But I turn around
00:20:13But I turn around
00:20:13And you're standing here
00:20:18Standing here
00:20:20Standing here
00:20:21Oh, yeah
00:20:24No, no, nobody
00:20:27No, no, no, nobody
00:20:31I've tried it over and over
00:20:35But I turn around
00:20:39But I turn around
00:20:41No, no, no, no
00:20:44Nobody's supposed to be here
00:20:47Came along and changed my mind
00:20:51How did you get here?
00:21:12I don't know where you're gonna be in the stars
00:21:15But you are a star
00:21:18Thank you
00:21:21With the first line of singers complete
00:21:24Making it so difficult
00:21:26Where are we putting all these people?
00:21:27It's time for the judges to discuss what they've heard
00:21:30I had her as a yes
00:21:31You think?
00:21:32She had the wrong song
00:21:34That was the wrong everything
00:21:35This year they will first decide
00:21:37If our hopefuls have shown enough potential
00:21:41Make it here to the Golden Room
00:21:42And you're still in the mix
00:21:44For a spot in the top 30
00:21:45Otherwise, it's the end of the road
00:21:48All right
00:21:49You know I'm sad to see this one go
00:21:51But for those who've made it here
00:21:54They can't get too comfortable
00:21:55Because more dramatic cuts
00:21:57Are just around the corner
00:21:59I've always dreamed of being in a position like this
00:22:02So
00:22:04It's so hard having to cut this many, y'all
00:22:14At this stage of the competition
00:22:17We have to cut
00:22:19From 127 down to 30
00:22:24This is not your everyday easy task
00:22:30Would the people I call please step forward
00:22:34Bryant
00:22:37Keela
00:22:42Makaya
00:22:46Front row
00:22:47You are going to the Golden Room
00:22:50Your journey with us continues
00:22:56Back row
00:22:57We're sorry
00:22:58But your journey with American Idol ends now
00:23:01It's like a whole weight
00:23:02That's been lifted off of me
00:23:05I feel so good
00:23:06I'm just really celebrating
00:23:10Going back to serving tables, you know
00:23:12We didn't get what we wanted
00:23:13But it's okay
00:23:14It just wasn't enough, basically
00:23:20Made it through
00:23:21To the Golden Room
00:23:22I have no idea what's going to happen next
00:23:25But I cannot wait
00:23:30Here's 27-year-old Tori McCullough
00:23:34Let the church say amen
00:23:36Amen
00:23:37Amen
00:23:44People, keep on learning
00:23:50While soldiers, I see you over there
00:23:54Keep on worrying
00:23:58Oh girl, keep on turning
00:24:05Cause it won't be too long
00:24:10I'm so glad that you let me try it again
00:24:14It's my last time on earth
00:24:16I've been the whole world of sin
00:24:18I'm so glad that I know more than I do then
00:24:22Gonna keep on shining
00:24:24Till I reach my high ground
00:24:29I'm so glad that you let me try it again
00:24:34It's my last time on earth
00:24:36I've been the whole world of sin
00:24:38I'm so glad that I know more than I do then
00:24:42Gonna keep on shining
00:24:47Till I reach
00:24:55I reach my high ground
00:25:15Wait now, wait now
00:25:19Let the universe say amen
00:25:21Amen
00:25:22You have found some new notes on higher ground
00:25:26Excellent, excellent, excellent
00:25:28Thank you guys so much
00:25:32Fire
00:25:34Up next to perform
00:25:36And hoping for a similar reaction from the judges
00:25:3921-year-old rocker Madison Moon
00:25:42I've been performing since I was very, very little
00:25:45I grew up listening to rock
00:25:48My dad loves hard rock music
00:25:50And I always listen to it with him
00:25:53My dad bought my first guitar
00:25:55And I still use it today
00:25:56Both of my parents are musicians
00:25:58And it's just amazing to have them see me do my thing
00:26:03Coming up next, get up audience for Madison Moon
00:26:09I am very excited to see Carrie again
00:26:11I'm actually doing a song that she did when she was on the show
00:26:15I'm gonna be doing Alone by Heart
00:26:17When I saw Carrie's idol performance of Alone
00:26:20It introduced me to the band Heart
00:26:22This is a very challenging song
00:26:24Especially I take it up all steps
00:26:26I'm doing it a key higher
00:26:28It's kind of insane that I'm going to sing it in front of Carrie
00:26:32So I'm hoping for the best
00:26:41I hear the ticking of the clock
00:26:45I'm lying here
00:26:47I hear the room's pitch dark
00:26:53I wonder where you are tonight
00:26:56No answer on the telephone
00:27:04And the night goes by so very slow
00:27:08Oh, I hope that it won't end all alone
00:27:22Till now, I always got fired
00:27:28I never really got it till I met you
00:27:35And now, I took me turn to the floor
00:27:39How do I got you alone love
00:27:46How do I got you alone
00:27:50Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
00:28:14You did it!
00:28:16You did it!
00:28:19Terry did that song on the show a while back.
00:28:22Now, what is she going to say about that?
00:28:26You are the only person on planet Earth
00:28:30who has ever raised the key.
00:28:33On that song.
00:28:35All I got to say is dang.
00:28:38Dang!
00:28:43Wow.
00:28:44Oh, my God.
00:28:45I just sang in front of Carrie Underwood again.
00:28:49Raised the frickin' key.
00:28:52I didn't know it was possible to do that.
00:28:54Now it's judgment time for Jordan and Madison.
00:29:00No matter what happens, man, that is the best
00:29:02that I have ever done.
00:29:04I got a bloodbath.
00:29:06We're a little more brutal.
00:29:07Cutting them in half and then we got to do another half.
00:29:12Jordan, Madison, your dream is still alive.
00:29:16Thank you very much.
00:29:24That's crazy.
00:29:26I was not expecting that.
00:29:27Oh, my God.
00:29:32I'm really proud of myself.
00:29:38It's just insane that this is such a huge cut.
00:29:42And for me to be considered to be in the top 30, it means the world.
00:29:45So Madison is the first of our rockers to get to the golden room.
00:29:50And after that, it was time for the male rockers to take the stage.
00:29:54Music City, you ready to rock?
00:29:59In the silver night, I hear the wolf out, honey,
00:30:02sniffing around your door.
00:30:04In the silver night, I see my heart beating heaven,
00:30:07telling me I gotta have more.
00:30:10So you know I'm in your corner.
00:30:12I feel like we had a few hiccups in there.
00:30:16Mr. Thorne Moriah is telling me what's in store.
00:30:21He missed timing and stuff.
00:30:23It felt like he shouldn't miss anything on that song.
00:30:28I mean, you got to keep it high energy rock and roll, right?
00:30:31What's rocking, baby?
00:30:32Here we go.
00:30:33Let's go.
00:30:36Insert and new shoes.
00:30:38And I don't know where I am going to.
00:30:42You're just a good time, Noah.
00:30:44I don't come down to, like, the Broadway bars,
00:30:47but I would come if you were playing.
00:30:50Oh, my God.
00:30:52Is every girl crazy about a sharp-dressed man?
00:31:00Rock can do no wrong and carries us.
00:31:03That's not true.
00:31:04I mean, he did the moonwalk in Boots, people.
00:31:06He moonwalked.
00:31:10I don't know.
00:31:11He might be someone people want to get behind.
00:31:14But, I mean, is he going to be a contender?
00:31:16No.
00:31:20Brett, step forward, please.
00:31:24Noah.
00:31:28I'm sorry, but your journey with us ends right now.
00:31:34They canned me.
00:31:36I think I'm going to follow him on Instagram after this.
00:31:40The crowd started cheering, and I completely lost my spot a couple of times, but it's all good.
00:31:45It was awesome to be a part of the whole thing.
00:31:47I'm losing my rockers.
00:31:49You know I'm sad.
00:31:51Cheers.
00:31:52God bless America.
00:32:00Make some noise for Trace Casanova!
00:32:03Come on!
00:32:05Come on!
00:32:06Oh, boy.
00:32:07Here we go.
00:32:08Oh, yeah.
00:32:10Mike?
00:32:11Michael?
00:32:11Michael?
00:32:12Raise your hand if your name is Michael.
00:32:14Oh, we got one over here.
00:32:16All right.
00:32:16Is that good?
00:32:17Thank you, everybody.
00:32:18That concludes our mic check.
00:32:23Let's swing it, boys.
00:32:32Crazy, but that's how it goes.
00:32:38I can't believe you got the internet.
00:32:40Living as far as
00:32:45Going off the rails on a crazy train
00:32:51I know that things are going wrong for me
00:33:01You gotta listen to my word
00:33:07Yeah, I am going off the rails on a crazy train
00:33:16Going off the rails on a crazy train
00:33:38No!
00:33:40No!
00:33:45Trace, what are you doing?
00:33:48I mean, I mean...
00:33:50Trace is just being Trace.
00:33:51I mean, Trace.
00:33:52I mean, I love it.
00:33:53You kill it, man.
00:33:55Thank you, Trace.
00:33:59Are y'all on drugs?
00:34:01Sir, you're stirring the pot out there with those guys.
00:34:04That's what we do, man.
00:34:04Yeah.
00:34:05I'm glad I'm good at this
00:34:06Because I can't serve tables.
00:34:07Well, either they want to rise
00:34:09Or they want to fall.
00:34:10It's kind of making our decisions easy.
00:34:12Easy.
00:34:12Cuts.
00:34:12Yeah.
00:34:14Audience, please put your hand together
00:34:16Coming all the way from Dorado, Puerto Rico!
00:34:19Roel!
00:34:22Roel!
00:34:23Roel!
00:34:24Roel!
00:34:24Roel!
00:34:25Roel!
00:34:25Roel!
00:34:26Roel!
00:34:27Since my audition, I actually flew back to Death Valley.
00:34:31Did my 8th hour shift at the Desert Outfitters bike shop.
00:34:35These are the prices for the e-bikes.
00:34:38For me, it's very important to keep this job
00:34:41Because my housing situation is tied to my job.
00:34:45It's for adjusting if it's too small or too big.
00:34:48Risking my living situation for this opportunity is scary.
00:34:53One day, these mountains are tired of standing.
00:34:59Today, I'm going to be singing California by The Great Chapel Rhone.
00:35:04This song, California, talks about moving from your hometown
00:35:07To pursue your dream and not wanting to let your family down.
00:35:11This is basically the anthem of my life.
00:35:14The risk that I'm taking right now to pursue my music dreams.
00:35:19When I step on the stage, I'm going to be thinking about that plane flight that I took from Puerto
00:35:25Rico to California.
00:35:28My brother dropping me off, giving me a hug, telling me,
00:35:34You can do this.
00:35:36Go and make us proud.
00:35:40I stretch myself across four states, new lands, west coast, where my dreams lay.
00:35:55I trade amber clay roads for the sea foam and the endless sun rays.
00:36:09Because I was never told that I wasn't going to get the things I want the most.
00:36:16But people always say if it hasn't happened yet, then maybe you should go.
00:36:22Oh, come get me out of California.
00:36:27No, these are brown.
00:36:31I miss the seasons in Missouri.
00:36:35My dying town.
00:36:38I thought I'd be cool in California.
00:36:42I'd make you proud.
00:36:44To think I almost had a going, but I made you proud.
00:36:55To think I almost had a going, but I made you proud.
00:37:29Thank you so much.
00:37:33You were holding that note at the end.
00:37:35I said, okay.
00:37:36Okay, that was fabulous.
00:37:37But let me tell you something.
00:37:38You have a natural stage presence that you can't teach.
00:37:42I think you did a great job.
00:37:46I'm not fully satisfied with my performance.
00:37:50I kind of messed up on the lyrics.
00:37:52I feel like I could have done much better.
00:37:55If I'm being honest.
00:37:57I think she missed the note.
00:37:58She tripped on the sequence of the lyrics.
00:38:02That's my favorite song.
00:38:03Like, I know it completely by heart.
00:38:05It was just the nerves.
00:38:07Maybe it got too excited.
00:38:08It is done.
00:38:12You're okay.
00:38:16Welcome back to American Idol,
00:38:19where 25-year-old stay-at-home mom,
00:38:21Hannah Harper, is taking the stage.
00:38:23Hannah!
00:38:24I loved her, didn't I?
00:38:26How are you guys doing tonight?
00:38:30Man, I'm Hannah Harper from Southeast Missouri,
00:38:33and I want to be the next American Idol
00:38:35because I want to be the forerunners for mamas out there
00:38:37who can still raise babies and pursue their dreams.
00:38:45I didn't see any other dream
00:38:46outside of just raising a house full of kids.
00:38:50My youngest is one,
00:38:51and shortly after he was born,
00:38:52I had postpartum depression,
00:38:53and so I was sitting on my couch wallowing,
00:38:56and my son kept coming up to me.
00:38:57He said, Mom, open my cheese.
00:38:58I'm like, do you leave me alone with the dadgum cheese?
00:39:01And I finally opened his cheese,
00:39:02and when I did, I realized that God had put me in that place
00:39:04and that where I was in my house was the biggest ministry
00:39:07that I could ever have.
00:39:08When I'm overwhelmed and touched out,
00:39:12they come climbing up on the couch
00:39:15saying, Mama, can you open my stream cheese?
00:39:20I was excited that Carrie had an emotional connection to the song
00:39:23because she's in the same position.
00:39:24She's a boy mom.
00:39:25Oh, well, that's about the most relatable song
00:39:27I think I've ever heard.
00:39:28And what nobody knew was how her original song
00:39:31would quickly become one of the most viewed clips
00:39:34in idol history.
00:39:36The string cheese song.
00:39:39So relatable.
00:39:40Touching hundreds of millions of people across the world.
00:39:44Are you kidding me?
00:39:45A song called String Cheese has me sobbing.
00:39:49Can you open my string cheese?
00:39:51Sweetest song I've ever heard in my whole entire life.
00:39:55It was so encouraging to me.
00:39:57So thank you, Hannah, because I really needed it.
00:40:04I'm okay.
00:40:07You're my string cheese.
00:40:12You're one that I'm going to think about when we leave here.
00:40:15Like, I wonder what song she's going to sing next.
00:40:17And I feel like I'm going to be just rooting for you.
00:40:23Thank you, Hannah.
00:40:31I had to leave my life in Dallas
00:40:34That town will always be you
00:40:43Every crowd on every corner
00:40:46And every face I see you
00:40:53Oh, but I can't turn this thing around
00:40:57And nothing short of breaking down
00:41:00Is going to get me off this road that I'm on
00:41:05But I'm going anywhere as fast as I can
00:41:11I'm a little past a little rock
00:41:14Further down the line
00:41:17Too soon to know what's up ahead
00:41:20Too late to change my mind
00:41:22Gotta keep my heart out of this
00:41:25With both hands on the wheel
00:41:28Learning more with every mile
00:41:31Just how living feels
00:41:34It's a lonely stretch of black top
00:41:37Out into the blue
00:41:39Don't know where I'll go
00:41:41Or what I'll do
00:41:45I'm a little past a little rock
00:41:48But a long ways from over you
00:41:56I'm a little past a little rock
00:41:59But a long ways from over you
00:42:14Thank you guys so much
00:42:17But her tone is amazing
00:42:21Oh, Hannah, you know you
00:42:23You're one of my favorites in auditions
00:42:25Leanne Womack's not an easy person to sing
00:42:27It's like you listen to it and it's so nice
00:42:29But you don't realize how intricate
00:42:31The things that she does with her voice
00:42:33And I feel like you just nailed that
00:42:35Thank you so much
00:42:41Man, I thought I had it
00:42:42You must have felt great about that performance
00:42:44I was very excited about the performance
00:42:45I just wish I wouldn't have messed up the words
00:42:47You did?
00:42:48Damn it
00:42:49Did we even notice?
00:42:50I don't think anybody noticed
00:42:51I didn't notice
00:42:52I noticed
00:42:53Man, I was beating myself up
00:42:55She jumbled lyrics too and got through it
00:42:57And she handled it and didn't even bump
00:42:59Yeah
00:43:01I'm real worried right now
00:43:03I got excited
00:43:04I forgot the words
00:43:05Didn't come in on the right spot
00:43:07But I sure hope I did enough
00:43:08To make it to the next round
00:43:13With another group of performances in the books
00:43:15All right, okay
00:43:17All right, what do we think?
00:43:18Our hopefuls wait to see if they've done enough
00:43:21To survive the judges' first round of cuts
00:43:24We got so many to go through
00:43:26That's exactly what I was saying
00:43:27Not her?
00:43:28I don't know
00:43:29What do you think?
00:43:31There's a lot at stake right now
00:43:33I'm very eager to show the world
00:43:35That even a girl from Puerto Rico
00:43:37Can do anything
00:43:39I think this guy's time to go
00:43:41I think he just didn't rise to the occasion
00:43:43It makes me sad though
00:43:45Because I feel like it's in there
00:43:46I hate this part
00:43:47Oh, Lord have mercy
00:43:52Hang in there, kid
00:43:52Hang in there
00:43:57Ruel
00:44:00Trace
00:44:04Hannah
00:44:08You are still in the running
00:44:10To become the next American Idol
00:44:14I'm sorry
00:44:15But your journey has ended right now
00:44:19Those are happy tears
00:44:21Yes
00:44:22I did it, tears
00:44:24Yes
00:44:25You wouldn't even understand
00:44:26I didn't have an idea
00:44:28I'm getting the picture
00:44:31I was scared
00:44:32I was terrified
00:44:32I didn't think I was going to get it through
00:44:37What's with that wind?
00:44:39It's a winner's breath
00:44:40I don't know, man
00:44:41Winner's breath
00:44:42Oh, God, dude
00:44:43All right
00:44:44So much fun
00:44:45So our hopefuls can celebrate for now
00:44:48But they'll have to wait with the others
00:44:50Until the end of the round
00:44:51When the judges make their final decision
00:44:53On who's made it into the top 30
00:44:55I'm scared
00:44:56Everyone's so crazy talented
00:44:58Some of us are going home
00:45:00I would like it not to be me
00:45:02Being here in the golden room
00:45:04And knowing that so many people are going to get cut
00:45:05It's kind of scary
00:45:06But I think the pressure is good
00:45:08And it will help me get through this stage
00:45:14All right
00:45:15Who's next?
00:45:17This is a tough board, man
00:45:20We'll see what they do
00:45:23It's a lot more than three people sitting at a table
00:45:26A lot more
00:45:27Yeah
00:45:31He was struggling with them
00:45:33And I don't know why
00:45:34He's just got the voice
00:45:36It's the nerves
00:45:38Probably
00:45:39We had people in auditions
00:45:40That were confident
00:45:41Spitfires
00:45:44And we gave them some feedback
00:45:47It was a little shaky to start
00:45:50And it's like they fret and worry
00:45:52And overthink everything that we told them
00:45:57I think the nerves might have compromised
00:46:00Just how good of a singer you are a little bit
00:46:02Did we scare him?
00:46:04I think we did
00:46:05I really hope I did enough
00:46:07To make it
00:46:08Oh, sorry
00:46:09Can you take the pressure?
00:46:11That's the business
00:46:15My knees are shaking, dude
00:46:16What's up, bro?
00:46:18Your knees are shaking?
00:46:19Yes, my knees are shaking
00:46:21When I auditioned the first time
00:46:22I had my hands in my pockets
00:46:24Take your hands out your pocket
00:46:26And look the folks straight in the face
00:46:29Yeah, I gotta make sure I keep those out
00:46:30Don't put them back here, though
00:46:31There you go
00:46:32Just keep them up there
00:46:33Are you gonna hold a microphone?
00:46:35Yeah, yeah, yeah
00:46:35That takes care of one
00:46:36Yeah, there you go
00:46:37Now it's what to do with the other
00:46:40Yeah, yeah, that's a good
00:46:41There you go
00:46:41I mean, that kind of thing
00:46:43I need to show them more of my charisma, I guess, on stage
00:46:47And I hope they'll be able to see me move around a little bit more
00:46:50And be more of an entertainer
00:46:50Hey, hold up
00:46:53I'm not too confident
00:46:54You don't have to do a crazy answer
00:46:56I enjoy insurance
00:46:58I enjoy helping families out
00:47:01But at the end of the day, music's my first passion
00:47:04And that's why I'm here
00:47:09Something's got a hold of me lately
00:47:12No, I don't know myself anymore
00:47:18Feels like the walls are all close
00:47:20And if the devil's knocking at my door
00:47:25Out of my mind
00:47:28How many times did I tell you
00:47:31No good at being alone
00:47:35It's taking a toll on me
00:47:38Trying my best to keep
00:47:40From tearing the skin of my bones
00:47:43Don't we still know
00:47:45I lose control
00:47:52We are not next to me
00:47:57Don't fall in, don't fall right in front of you
00:48:02Can't you see
00:48:03I lose control
00:48:10When you're not next to me
00:48:17Falling apart right in front of you
00:48:20Can't you see
00:48:22I lose control
00:48:28When you're not next to me
00:48:34Falling apart right in front of you
00:48:38Can't you see
00:48:43Can't you see
00:48:51Fill me
00:48:55Fill me
00:48:56Fill me
00:49:03I mean, how about that?
00:49:05Fill me
00:49:06Who possessed you?
00:49:07I mean
00:49:09You kind of walk out
00:49:11And then you open your mouth
00:49:13And you turn in
00:49:15To somebody else
00:49:18And I'm telling you
00:49:21That's somebody else
00:49:23We love
00:49:24Fill me
00:49:27Thank you so good
00:49:33Oh my gosh
00:49:34That right there
00:49:34That was 10 times better than I was expecting
00:49:37Unassuming
00:49:38I mean, walked out here
00:49:39And knocked us right out
00:49:41Shocker
00:49:41Even your eyes are watering
00:49:43Yeah, I know
00:49:43I almost started crying
00:49:44I feel like
00:49:45I had to get off stage
00:49:46For America to see me cry a little bit
00:49:48I'm so proud of you
00:49:50Oh man
00:49:51This is getting hard
00:49:52I feel like we've had a lot of good ones
00:49:54I need
00:49:55I need people to start messing up
00:49:57We're going to be simple
00:50:04Welcome back to American Idol
00:50:06So far after 52 performances
00:50:09Just 19 hopefuls have moved on to the Golden Room
00:50:12Still in consideration for the top 30
00:50:16They're at least cutting half of us
00:50:18And like
00:50:19I ain't going to sit here and lie
00:50:20I'm a little scared
00:50:21Once all 127 have sung
00:50:24Those who remain here
00:50:26Will have to survive
00:50:26One more major cut
00:50:28At the end of the round
00:50:30I've heard people sing
00:50:32And there's a lot of
00:50:33Very, very, very talented people here
00:50:35This is the biggest stage
00:50:37That I've ever performed on
00:50:38In my life
00:50:43First time I performed on a stage
00:50:44Was just at my piano recital
00:50:46I was probably about 8 years old
00:50:52I thought I had just won a Grammy
00:50:54After I sang that song
00:50:57I don't think my younger self
00:50:58Would really believe it
00:50:59That I would be performing
00:51:00On this massive stage
00:51:02My first audition
00:51:03I did guitar
00:51:04But this week
00:51:05I'm showing a little bit
00:51:06A different side of myself
00:51:07I'm going to have to up my game
00:51:08If I want to get to that 30
00:51:10Thank you
00:51:11Thank you
00:51:13Thank you
00:51:13Thank you
00:51:17Georgia
00:51:22Georgia
00:51:23Georgia
00:51:26The whole day through
00:51:33Just a more sweet sound
00:51:37Keeps Georgia on my mind
00:51:49Other on
00:51:53Reach out to me
00:51:56Other I
00:51:59Smile tenderly
00:52:05Still have
00:52:07Peaceful dreams
00:52:09I see
00:52:10The roar
00:52:13Leads back to you
00:52:17I said Georgia
00:52:22Georgia
00:52:26No peace
00:52:29No peace
00:52:30I
00:52:32Just an old
00:52:34Sweet song
00:52:37Keeps Georgia
00:52:39On my mind
00:52:45I said
00:52:48Just an old
00:52:49Sweet song
00:52:53Keeps Georgia
00:52:55On my
00:52:57Mind
00:53:09My
00:53:10I mean 17 years old
00:53:12Coming out here doing joy
00:53:13You know I'm from Georgia so you're already trying to make me
00:53:17Just sucking up a little bit
00:53:18Play in the room already but
00:53:20Thank you great
00:53:21Thank you
00:53:23I've heard the rest of the singers in my group
00:53:25It's actually really intimidating
00:53:29Especially because rehearsal has been stressful
00:53:31I could not hear myself at all
00:53:35What's that?
00:53:36I couldn't hear anything
00:53:37You walked past the wedges
00:53:38But you were not off pitch
00:53:41Your notes were on
00:53:43But I know myself
00:53:45And I've never sang that horrible
00:53:48I really want to show the judges something out of my comfort zone
00:53:51And that's what they asked for
00:53:54You were hitting some high notes in there
00:53:57Yeah
00:53:57But it would be great if you could put some oomph in there
00:54:00Oh you should see me with a band
00:54:03Maybe I took it too far and I'm doing too hard of a song
00:54:07I just fell, I kind of stumbled a little bit
00:54:09I just wanted to be good enough for this
00:54:11But it's just starting to feel like
00:54:13I can't do it
00:54:19But right now
00:54:20I'm just trying to remember my Aunt Brittany
00:54:23Carmen, there's no problem
00:54:24I think Brittany has always been a very big mentor to me
00:54:29To believe in myself
00:54:31To have the confidence
00:54:32You are ready
00:54:33You're ready for this
00:54:34You were born for this
00:54:35Born for this
00:54:37And that just helps
00:54:39I can just remind myself that
00:54:42I am good enough to just be here at this part
00:54:44I really don't want to screw it up
00:54:49At least I look hot when I cry
00:55:09In your promises
00:55:11Better left unsaid
00:55:14You're the strong kind of singer
00:55:17To release my inner fantasy
00:55:21The events I'm a winner
00:55:23And you know that you are born to be
00:55:28You're a heartbreaker
00:55:31Dream maker
00:55:32Dream maker
00:55:33Love taking
00:55:34Don't you mix around with me
00:55:35You're a heartbreaker
00:55:37Dream maker
00:55:38Love taking on to my heart
00:55:40She's giving up
00:55:41But she's giving up
00:55:43When I cry
00:55:43Because you don't
00:55:45Don't
00:55:46Don't
00:55:47Don't
00:55:48Don't
00:55:48Don't
00:55:50Don't
00:55:52Don't
00:55:53Don't

01:03:29Chloe, Chloe, what a tough song to sing.
01:03:32It's just you being a 15-year-old, that's the way it's going to sound.
01:03:37In the front part, it seemed like you were pretty nervous, but toward the end, you really
01:03:42started locking in and hitting your stride.
01:03:45I mean, you should be so proud of yourself.
01:03:47Good job.
01:03:49Any time you're dealing with a 15, 16-year-old kid, it becomes really, really delicate.
01:03:55She was too young.
01:03:56She was good.
01:03:57A sweet little girl.
01:03:59This could be a life-altering moment for them, and we want it to alter them in a positive
01:04:05way.
01:04:06Not too young, just not ready.
01:04:08We hope that it doesn't alter their confidence in who they are as an artist.
01:04:14Okay, thank you guys.
01:04:15Stand by, please.
01:04:15Okay, here we go.
01:04:17The following people, step forward, please.

01:04:24Michael.

01:04:54Feeling great, man, for real.
01:04:56I'm so excited right now.
01:04:58Me only being 16, I really thought I was out for the count, but I guess this just proves
01:05:02it's not just about the age, it's about what you got inside.
01:05:05And you did it, Aboyomi.
01:05:07You broke both the doors and you made it to the next round.
01:05:12Congratulations.
01:05:13Yeah!
01:05:15Yeah!
01:05:16All of our teens survived the judges' first cut, but it's the end of the road for another.
01:05:21So this is it for this time around?
01:05:24Yes, sir.
01:05:24I know it's disappointing, but there's a lot of future in front of you.
01:05:31It's hard to go home.
01:05:33I would have loved to move forward, but they felt like it was best for me to go home and
01:05:38work hard and maybe come back one day.
01:05:40This is just the beginning.
01:05:42We love you, baby.
01:05:43We're so proud of you.
01:05:44We did great.
01:05:51Welcome back to Hollywood Week, Music City Takeover.
01:05:55Sitting in this golden room amongst some of the best talented singers on this side of
01:06:00the earth, it makes me feel honored to be a part of the chosen one.
01:06:05It's blowing my mind right now because I don't know what's coming up.
01:06:08It feels a little tense in the room.
01:06:10There's a lot of good performers that are going up right now, so I'm sweating.
01:06:15Hollywood Week is a slap on your mama's mouth.
01:06:22And I remember the sickness was forever.
01:06:28And I remember the snuffing video.
01:06:33The cold September, the distances we cover.
01:06:39The fistfights on the beach, the busies round us up.
01:06:45Do it all again next week.
01:06:48And the boy who kicked Tom's head still pokes me now.
01:06:53And that's the thing we think.
01:06:56It cuts you when you're down.
01:07:01And she wept and wept and wept.
01:07:04The love came and died down here.
01:07:07I see my murder.
01:07:09The EWPC number.
01:07:12The cries on the floor ain't coming.
01:07:15I'm 17 going under.
01:07:18I'm 17 going under.
01:07:30I'm 17 going under.
01:07:37Thank you guys so much.
01:07:39I like that.
01:07:42Boom.
01:07:43I like that.
01:07:46You're so ready for this.
01:07:48Yeah, man.
01:07:49That's very kind of you.
01:07:51Even the sound that you chose on that guitar was a really, really cool sound.
01:07:56Yep.
01:07:56The way you started in the band.
01:07:58I mean, you're just ready to do this.
01:08:00Let me go win this thing.
01:08:02Make an album.
01:08:03Hit the road.
01:08:03Get a band.
01:08:05You know, it's a little bit bigger of a band than I would normally play with, which is
01:08:08a ton of fun.
01:08:09But I consider myself really lucky that I have had the opportunity to play a lot over the
01:08:13last bunch of years.
01:08:15And I'm hoping that that will get me into the top 30.
01:08:20This is a tough board, man.
01:08:23How are we going to get these people down to 30?
01:08:26I don't know.
01:08:27That's what I'm sitting here thinking.
01:08:30Up next to take the stage is Minnesota hopeful.
01:08:33Chris Tungseth.
01:08:34Being here on American Idol, I mean, it means everything.
01:08:38It's kind of a start of something new for me.
01:08:41Just like a new season of joy.
01:08:44I love you guys.
01:08:45Love you too.
01:08:46Love you too.
01:08:54I'm doing this for my mom and for my family.
01:08:57And obviously my dad is here with me in spirit.
01:09:00I am so proud.
01:09:02I have an American Idol for a son.
01:09:07So for Hollywood week, I'm going to be singing Jealous by Labyrinth.
01:09:13I'm really excited to hear them.
01:09:16After losing my dad and I heard this song, I was like, oh, this could mean so many things.
01:09:22It's a breakup song, essentially.
01:09:24But when I listen to it after losing dad, I think of you losing dad because there's parts
01:09:32in that song where it's like, I'm jealous of the rain that falls upon your skin.
01:09:37Your voice will sound.
01:09:41Share your light.
01:09:42Yeah.
01:09:43You know?
01:09:46My family is the reason why I feel so confident in pursuing my dream.
01:09:53This performance could change my life.
01:09:56I know my dad's with me and I know my mom's at home just rooting for me, praying for me.
01:10:01And so I'm going to go out there and give it everything that I have.
01:10:09I'm jealous of the rain that falls upon your skin.
01:10:22It's closer than my hands have been.
01:10:28Oh, I'm jealous of rain.
01:10:35I'm jealous of the wind that ripples through your clothes.
01:10:48It's closer than your shadow.
01:10:54Oh, I'm jealous of the wind.
01:11:03But I wish you the best of all this world could give.
01:11:15And I wish you the best of all this world could give.
01:11:18And I told you, when you left me, there's nothing to forgive.
01:11:28But I wish you the best of all this world could give.
01:11:29But I always thought you'd come back and tell me all you found was heartbreak and misery.
01:11:41It's hard for me to say, I'm jealous of the way you're happy without me.
01:12:16I mean, I felt like that was just kind of captivating, you know?
01:12:22Just hanging on every word, wondering what you were going to do with it.
01:12:26You've got that soulful, soft, sensitive thing in your voice.
01:12:32And it's very mesmerizing.
01:12:35Thank you, Carrie.
01:12:37Thank you, Chris.
01:12:44I feel like I didn't really like the way he arranged it.
01:12:48Yeah.
01:12:49Yeah.
01:12:50That song typically auditions very well.
01:12:53Yeah.
01:12:54It didn't compliment him.
01:12:55It was a little quick.
01:12:57Mm-hmm.
01:12:58That song, it's supposed to be one that you milk every second of.
01:13:01Yeah.
01:13:02I just had to hone in on what I knew I could do.
01:13:05And I feel like I did that right there, so.
01:13:09We got a lot of cuts to make.
01:13:11Stay tuned for more results in Music City.
01:13:24The thing I love about American Idol is its ability to take normal, everyday people,
01:13:32people that have not been anywhere in or around the music industry.
01:13:37We take those people and give them the opportunity of a lifetime.
01:13:42Being here in Hollywood Week in Music City is nerve-wracking.
01:13:48I have never performed with a big band or in front of anyone except for in church.
01:13:54This does feel like a big opportunity.
01:13:57Stuff like this just doesn't happen to people like me.
01:14:04Growing up in Warrenville, it was very, definitely different.
01:14:09It's not very wealthy.
01:14:11It's a very small, very poverty-like town.
01:14:18I did move around a lot growing up.
01:14:20We've probably moved about ten times.
01:14:22Moving schools a lot, and it didn't really feel like I fit in anywhere.
01:14:26I didn't really have a lot of friends.
01:14:28I know finances weren't always, like, there for us.
01:14:31It was really hard for me to talk about it.
01:14:38Music was the constant in all of that craziness.
01:14:42I always felt limited.
01:14:44Like, oh, I don't have the resources to reach this goal of mine when it comes to music
01:14:49because I've always wanted to sing.
01:14:50I would lay down at night, and I would pray and hope that something would come about.
01:14:59And now I'm here.
01:15:07I'm going to be singing Girls Just When I Have Fun.
01:15:10Bye, Cindy Lauper.
01:15:20I come home in the morning light
01:15:24My mother says what you're gonna do with your life
01:15:29Oh, mama dear, we're not the fortunate ones
01:15:35But girls, they want to have fun
01:15:37Oh, girls just want to have fun
01:15:44That's all they really want
01:15:53When the working day is done
01:15:58Oh, girls, they want to have fun
01:16:02Oh, girls just want to have fun
01:16:10They just wanna
01:16:13They just wanna
01:16:15They just wanna
01:16:20When the working day is done
01:16:25Oh, girls just want to have fun
01:16:44Well, Chloe, I tell you what
01:16:47You have one of the most original-sounding voices in the whole competition
01:16:53Thank you
01:16:54When I heard you were gonna do
01:16:57Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
01:16:58I was like
01:16:59I can't imagine her voice doing it like Cindy Lauper did it
01:17:03And then when I heard kind of the moodier version
01:17:06I kind of really got confused
01:17:08Because I wanted the original version that Cindy Lauper did
01:17:11But then I really enjoyed your version
01:17:14But then it got a little sleepy
01:17:15But then I still loved your voice
01:17:19Yeah
01:17:20Overall, there's a lot of emotions that I'm going through right now
01:17:24And I thought that we were all gonna be dancing to Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
01:17:28But I really appreciate your arrangement
01:17:30And when you do want to have fun
01:17:32Make sure you come on out here and have a big old time, alright?
01:17:35Thank you
01:17:36Thank you
01:17:38I feel like I let myself down
01:17:40I am self-sabotaged really badly
01:17:42I tried to do the best that I could
01:17:46It's almost like she's given up on herself
01:17:49The pressure of the competition is definitely a playing factor in why I feel the way I feel
01:17:54And I don't feel like I did my very best
01:17:57She's got the voice
01:17:59Wrong song
01:18:00It's really about pushing myself and wanting to win
01:18:04Because I know I can
01:18:07I don't know where she went
01:18:08And that's not it
01:18:10Here's 22-year-old Brayden Rumpfell
01:18:15Oh, I remember
01:18:17Oh, yeah
01:18:22Gotta loosen up
01:18:23Like I wanted to come out there and just like shake your arms
01:18:27And throw your vest across the room
01:18:29And I think you're a racehorse, man
01:18:31Are you usually a mover, a traveler on the stage?
01:18:34A little bit
01:18:35I've had some knee issues
01:18:36So I kind of tend to stay in the same spot
01:18:39How's your knee?
01:18:40Not too bad
01:18:40I just had two surgeries on these guys in the last year
01:18:47I've got two lower leg realignments
01:18:50The doctors have explained that all your body's resources are going into healing the leg
01:18:56And so you could be susceptible to get sick
01:18:59That sparked something in my head like
01:19:01Oh my gosh, wash your hands constantly
01:19:03Don't touch anybody
01:19:05Don't let them get near you
01:19:06No hugs
01:19:08Now I'm in a panic mode
01:19:10Like I'm going to die now
01:19:16These intrusive thoughts pop into my head that are not real
01:19:19It kind of developed a contamination OCD
01:19:22And it's really debilitating
01:19:25I had started going to therapy
01:19:28I've made huge strides to getting a lot better
01:19:35Hollywood week
01:19:36That's good for me
01:19:37I can focus on putting my energy into something that is real
01:19:42This performance is going to be the biggest one of my entire life
01:19:44I'm confident going into it
01:19:48Hello, hello, hello
01:19:50I'm doing I'm Not the Only One by Sam Smith
01:20:03You and me
01:20:05We made a vow
01:20:08For better or worse
01:20:14I can't believe you let me down
01:20:18But the pool's everywhere
01:20:23You say I'm crazy
01:20:29Cause you don't think I know what you've done
01:20:35But will you call me baby
01:20:41I know I'm not the only one
01:20:47I have loved you for many years
01:20:52Baby I am just not enough
01:20:58You made me realize my deceit
01:21:03By lying and tearing us up
01:21:08You say I'm crazy
01:21:13Cause you don't think I know what you've done
01:21:20But will you call me baby
01:21:25I know I'm not the only one
01:21:30And I know
01:21:32And I know
01:21:34And I know
01:21:36And I know
01:21:38And I know
01:21:39I'm not the only one
01:21:50Damn it!
01:21:55Damn it!
01:21:57Damn it!
01:21:57Damn it!
01:21:58Damn it!
01:21:59Damn it!
01:22:02Brayden!
01:22:03Man, can you make it look hard next time?
01:22:07Just laid it in there.
01:22:09We knew you were special in your audition.
01:22:12We knew it.
01:22:13We felt it.
01:22:14We're here to support you.
01:22:16We're here to lift you up.
01:22:17We want you to have fun.
01:22:19And man, you picked the perfect song.
01:22:23Perfect song.
01:22:24Perfect.
01:22:27And lean in, be you, be yourself, and get ready for the ride.
01:22:31It's going to be really, really special.
01:22:38I don't know what to do, man.
01:22:39I'm just like, ah, golly.
01:22:42He may win.
01:22:43I'm thankful for the opportunity.
01:22:45No matter how it turns out, but it seems like it's going to do well.
01:22:48Hang tight right here, folks.
01:22:49Our judges are going to do deliberations, and then we're going to know the results.
01:22:54There's so much at stake.
01:22:56In going into results, there's just so many talented musicians here.
01:22:59Like, I want to be in the top 30 so bad.
01:23:01Pass that old board down here so I can get my attitude right.
01:23:06It probably means more to me than most people here.
01:23:09I've always pulled through any situation I've ever been in.
01:23:13I don't know.
01:23:14This one's different.
01:23:18This is a very heavy class, and all of you have done amazing, amazing work.
01:23:28This is probably the most unprecedented time we've ever had, where we had to just cut talent.
01:23:34Having said that, when the following people step forward, Jake, Brianna, Brayden.
01:23:55This is something we are charged with doing, so front row.
01:24:04You should be very proud of how far you've come, but for now, your journey.
01:24:15Next Monday, you're in the toughest class we have ever had.
01:24:20It's the conclusion of Hollywood Week, Music City Takeover.
01:24:23You're in one on edge right now.
01:24:24Some of us are going home.
01:24:26Where we find out who survives.
01:24:29I was trying to kick you out of the room because I'm so jealous of you.
01:24:32If you were thinking about winning, just keep doing that.
01:24:35And gets in to the top 30.
01:24:37Am I freaking out about it?
01:24:38Yeah.
01:24:38I feel you guys are going to boo me.
01:24:41Bring it on!
01:24:42I love it!
01:24:43I did everything I could.
01:24:45I'm so sorry.
01:24:46I would love nothing more than to be a part of those 30 singers that make it.
01:24:49Let's just hope.
01:24:50Hope and pray.
01:24:52We got more bloodshed coming.
01:24:54We have some sing-offs.
