Jamie just wants to get over the breakup. Marian wants “relaxation,” meaning they both agree to do the least subtle thing possible: rent a car and point it at Tallahassee like this is going to fix their lives.

It does not. Because the car they get handed is a mix-up, and the trunk is carrying something that should not be riding around loose. The kind of problem that turns a casual road trip into a chase movie before anyone even properly buckles in.

Soon, a crew of shady characters starts following them. And they are not exactly the sharpest tools in the alley. Drive-Away Dolls leans into that delicious mismatch: tension with a side of incompetence, momentum, and jokes that mostly land because the situation is already ridiculous. Ratings are mixed, but the vibe is fast and messy.

Jamie und Marian wollen eigentlich einfach nur Abstand nach der Trennung. Also rein ins Auto, Musikkassette rein, Florida-Highway anlassen und so tun, als wären ihre Probleme jetzt bloß Landschaft. Spoiler: Der Mietwagen ist nicht nur gemietet, sondern auch falsch. Im Kofferraum wartet nämlich eine Fracht, die ganz offensichtlich lieber nicht in fremden Händen wäre.

Und kaum läuft der Trip, hängt hinter ihnen eine Bande her, die gleichzeitig ziemlich zwielichtig und erschreckend unkompetent wirkt. Das Ergebnis ist ein Road-Trip, der sich ständig zwischen “Okay, das wird lustig” und “Moment, das eskaliert gerade wirklich” hin- und herzieht.
