Which basically means his life is already edited for drama, even when nothing’s happening. Then he and his loyal manager Ron take a Europe road trip, and spoiler: the past doesn’t stay in the past. Their stops turn into awkward conversations with choices they made, people they care about, and the kind of legacy you leave behind when you thought you’d have more time. The movie keeps a dry, slightly funny tone, like it knows regret is hilarious for about five minutes. After that, it gets real. It’s not a nonstop meltdown. More like a slow, uncomfortable check-in with yourself, punctuated by laughter. If you like character-driven stories where the baggage gets unpacked, this one is for you. ---------- Jay Kelly ist die Sorte Filmstar, bei der das Licht immer schön von der falschen Seite kommt. Für ihn und seinen treuen Manager Ron geht es quer durch Europa. Nicht, weil plötzlich alle Antworten im Gepäck sind, sondern weil alte Entscheidungen jetzt im selben Fahrplan mitfahren. Auf Zwischenstopps treffen sie auf Menschen, Erwartungen und Details aus früheren Tagen, die sich nicht wegignorieren lassen. Mal wird dabei herzlich gelacht, mal sitzt die Erkenntnis wie ein schwerer Mantel auf den Schultern. „Jay Kelly“ ist kein großes Schleuderdrama. Eher eine eigenwillige Mischung aus Promi-Alltag, Selbstreflexion und dem unangenehmen Gefühl, dass man irgendwann doch Bilanz ziehen muss. Wer Humor mit Restalkohol aus Reue mag, bleibt dran.
