00:00All right, what's up Amayaan and today I am going to show you five interesting ways to improve your SSD
00:04or hard drives
00:06speeds for measuring the speeds
00:08I will be using a tool known as crystal disk mark and I am NOT able to get it from
00:13the source Forge.net website
00:15So I'm gonna use the Microsoft Store to download it
00:18I actually downloaded the trial version because it only gives you the trial version while the full version is
00:24For price. So I'm gonna use the trial version here. Let's select the drive that is slow and hit all
00:30to
00:31Start testing the drive
00:33This is going to take some time, but I am going to speed it up just for you guys
00:40Well, I actually have two drives installed on my system
00:43One is the boot drive and the second one is the storage drive while the boot drive is working fine
00:49But the storage drive is kind of a really slow
00:52compared to its original speed, but I
00:55Found these ways so I'm gonna use them right here and also gonna show you how you can also improve
01:00your SSDs speeds
01:02Depending on where you have installed it
01:06Well, let's get started then. I'm just gonna save this result as you can see this is
01:12Read speed is actually very low as compared to the right speed. So I'm gonna
01:17Just save the results so we can compare it at the end
01:20Make sure that it is working correctly or not
01:26Now let's go ahead and find the result
01:29Here we go. I'm gonna just open it up
01:33Yep, that's correct and now I'm going to
01:37Rename it to before so we can compare it with the after results
01:43Okay, now it is time to let's get started
01:47So here we are the first step is the optimized drives
01:53So we're gonna do that. I'm gonna type in the search bar
01:58You can use
02:00Optimize or defrag it will open it up optimize the drives
02:05One by one as you can see these drives needs a home optimization. So I'm gonna
02:11Optimize it
02:12This will not take such long time, but
02:16Actually, it is done automatically. So again if it is not enabled you can enable it like this
02:21Change some settings as well as also select all those drives
02:25So they are optimized for usage and hope they never slow down
02:31Okay, so now we are into the second step
02:34The second step is to make sure the trim command is running. So for this we are using the command
02:41prompt
02:42Yep, this is the step and we need to copy this command right here and paste it in command prompt
02:51So I'm gonna type in cmd
02:54Open it as an administrator
02:57And type in the command hit enter and now
03:01You can see it is already enabled trim command is running, but if yours is not we are running you
03:06can also use the second command right here and
03:10Paste it in a command prompt and it will actually turn on trim
03:15Enable trim for all of your drives
03:19Like this and if you think it is if you want to make sure you can use this first command
03:25again to make sure it is enabled or not
03:28Okay, now this is done
03:30So now we are into the third and most important step actually we're gonna use both of these third and
03:36fourth step right using this one
03:39First step is to enable the AHCI mode for this. We also need to enable safe boot. So your
03:46Laptop doesn't get into any trouble
03:49So you can use these commands in the command prop to enable and disable safe mode, but I am going
03:54to use this
03:55Ms. Config and turn on safe mode graphically
04:00Go into the system configuration settings and go into the boot tab and here you can turn on safe mode.
04:07I always choose the minimal option hit apply
04:11And ok to close it
04:16Now this is going to ask you to restart your system, so I'm gonna hit restart
04:22While it is restart starting you need to go to into the bios of your laptop or pc for my
04:28laptop
04:29I am going to select the
04:31F2 key to enter the bios while it is starting up now as you can see it is going to
04:35the bios option
04:38Now
04:39Here we are in the bios now all I need to do is to find the AHCI mode and
04:45Turn it on so we're gonna scroll right here
04:49In the system configuration and here in my
04:53Set of operations. I have found that AHCI is in already enabled. So we're gonna not going to change anything
05:00here
05:01We're gonna keep it as it is turn on the ACI mode and also we need to find the onboard
05:06vga
05:07But in my case the onboard vga option is not available in the bios
05:10So i'm gonna keep it at it is simply just exit the bios and your system will restart
05:18While it starts it will go into the safe mode as you can see right from in the upper corner
05:24of this
05:26Screen safe mode is enabled
05:28After that we need to go into the ms config again, or you can use the second command to
05:35Disable the safe mode, but I will go into the system configuration by typing in ms config
05:41open the system configurations
05:44And
05:45Go into the boot tab
05:48Turn off synth mode and hit ok and restart
05:54Now your laptop or pc or system and whichever one you want to call it reverse and
06:02The safe mode is now disabled let's wait for it to start up this is going to take some time
06:07which is very annoying
06:11Okay now
06:15Wait for it
06:19Okay, now the safe mode is now disabled let's move on to our fifth step
06:24So the last step here we have is the choose high performance mode
06:29How are we going to do that simply click on the battery icon if you are using a laptop
06:34And turn on best performance if you are using a pc or
06:38Actually want to turn on the ultimate performance mode. I highly recommend using vento
06:43Windows app you can find this app in the microsoft store. I actually downloaded it from the microsoft store
06:50and go into the performance section and
06:54Turn on the ultimate performance plan
06:58This will actually
06:59Remove the options you can right click go to proper power options and here you can see the ultimate performance
07:04is on
07:06This is how you can increase your speed
07:09So
07:10What we are going to do now?
07:12Okay, now we need to test if the speed is improved or not. So i'm gonna test it right here
07:17Actually for vento is i am going to provide the link in the description so you can check out how
07:22to install and use vento
07:24Okay, the speed test shows that my speed has improved really highly about
07:3210 times actually or more than that even
07:36Let's wait for the test to complete so we can compare it side by side with the before and after
07:40This ways stuff
07:43If it is still slow you might have to check your set of cables or try a different port
07:50That should do the trick
07:53So with software, I have actually improved it a lot
07:57Now let's save these results and compare them side by side
08:01I actually do not have an extra port so I would have just
08:06Changed the ports so my speed will be improved but
08:09Actually, I have two ports one both of them are occupied. So I have to use these ways only
08:15Okay, let's go to the folder
08:19Now let's compare them side by side
08:22So this is the before section
08:25before I
08:26Use these ways
08:28Let's compare them side by side now here you can see
08:33The results have improved quite a lot
08:36First the read speed was 21. It is now 97
08:40It was 14. It is now 104
08:43And it was 12. It is now 54
08:46From 8 to 18
08:48While the write speeds are the same but now my laptop is actually usable
08:53So with that let's do the
08:53Pero
08:53and
08:53I
