A breathtaking sighting of a melanistic leopard often referred to as a “black panther” has revealed a hidden detail many people never notice.
Captured by professional photographer Pareet Shah, from Kenya, in his home country with an iPhone.
The striking images and footage show the elusive big cat up close with its distinctive rosettes faintly visible beneath its dark coat.
Melanistic leopards are rare, with their black colouring caused by an excess of pigment.
But in the right light, their iconic leopard spots can still be seen, creating a mesmerising pattern across their fur.
Pareet, who has been photographing wildlife for decades, described the animal as “one of the most beautiful beings to grace this earth.”
Pareet said: “Look really close, and you will see the rosettes of this melanistic leopard. They are one of the most beautiful beings to grace this earth.”
Viewers were left in awe of the rare encounter, with many expressing surprise at the hidden markings.
One commenter wrote they were amazed to see the rosettes “for the first time,” while another praised the animal’s glossy coat, calling it a “beautiful cat.”
Others shared their excitement at witnessing such a rare moment, with one adding they could only imagine how thrilling it must have been to capture it on camera.
