WITH PIX AND VID
By Shuk Yee Tsang
An awe-inspiring elephant known as a “super tusker” has been captured in a striking moment that left viewers amazed at its sheer size and presence.
The images and footage were taken by professional photographer Pareet Shah in Kenya’s Amboseli National Park, with the towering figure of Mount Kilimanjaro forming a dramatic backdrop.
Shot on an iPhone, the visuals highlight the immense scale and quiet power of the rare elephant a “super tusker,” a term used for bulls whose tusks grow so large they can nearly touch the ground.
Pareet, who has spent decades photographing wildlife, described the encounter as almost surreal.
Super tuskers are incredibly rare, making sightings like this all the more special, a powerful reminder of the scale and beauty of Africa’s wildlife.
Pareet said: “His presence was other-worldly; you really had to pinch yourself when in his company.
“How can someone so majestic be so humble and gentle?
"How can there be an animal in the Amboseli ecosystem that can even overshadow the mighty mountain itself?”
Viewers were equally captivated, with many praising the elephant’s grandeur.
Comments included admiration for the “giant” with wishes for a long life, while others described him as “so majestic” and were struck by the stunning composition with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background.
