00:00and I caught just the common cold and over the period of a couple of weeks it got worse and

00:04and worse after a couple of weeks went to bed quite late one night and then woke up a couple
00:07of hours later went to the loo and then I saw blood in my urine so I knew then something

00:11quite seriously wrong with me I remember going back to bed told what I'd just seen and she said
00:16look go back to sleep in the morning we'll call the doctor straight away and then when I woke the
00:20following morning I couldn't push myself out of bed couldn't operate my arms my legs my hands
00:25were working I was probably semi-conscious at best didn't really understand what was going on
00:31I noticed that my skin was starting to turn purple I remember a knock on the door downstairs I remember
00:36sliding down the stairs so I couldn't walk properly and then I tried to open the back door but couldn't
00:40do it and then the next thing I remember is coming through the back door pushing me out the way

00:45slumped to the floor and then her and my stepfather coming in to the pot wash area and then immediately
00:51calling 999 they said to look your husband's probably got 20 minutes before he passes away
00:56we need to get him into the back of the ambulance immediately and then one doctor he said to he

01:02Alex been near any watercourses recently and then I said to but we've got a bit of stretch of the

01:08test behind our restaurant and we had a storm drain an open storm drain and then the doctor felt that

01:13was probably suffering with vas disease which is rats urine in watercourses a new consultant came over
01:19and he went through the whole motions again asked me questions spoke to the doctor who was going to
01:24treat me for vas disease and said no that's the wrong course of action Alex has got strep A and
01:28then
01:28I was placed on life support
