00:00The five-run inning now, 6-1 Rockies.
00:03Yes, that is the latest from your afternoon Astros up in Denver,
00:07taking on the Colorado Rockies in the third game of this three-game set.
00:11Looking not to get swept, not doing so great.
00:14You just heard that update in the second inning.
00:16Nightmare second inning, Astros currently trail the Rockies 6-1
00:20with some afternoon baseball.
00:22We will keep you up to date here on the drive, Sterner and Hughley.
00:25But it is stock up, stock down right now here today on a hump day with the drive.
00:29And we are talking Strohs,
00:30talking about these Astros that are currently getting that ass beat.
00:3413th game of the season right now.
00:36Not so lucky 13 for the Strohs, but 12 games in.
00:40Start with some stock up because I need some positivity with the Astros right now.
00:44We're on the show.
00:45Hughley, stock up for you with these Strohs as they are down 6-1.
00:49Look, I'm going to, I know this is a tough part of the team to go to,
00:56but I am going to go to the pitching staff.
00:58And I'm going to say, right, this is stock up, right, Tyler?
01:04Where, like, things are looking.
01:06I'm going to go with yesterday's starter, Mike Burr.
01:09Mike Burr's.
01:11Mike Burr's.
01:12That's a good one.
01:14I think his stock is up.
01:16I think what he did, what he has done the last two starts,
01:22I think are things you can work with.
01:24And you can see him probably improving.
01:27And, Clint, they just need a guy to come in and be a major league starter
01:32that's going to be able to give innings.
01:34And really in all of his starts, like even his first start,
01:38I think he held the first time around outside of Lance.
01:41He gave the most innings on the team.
01:44And yesterday, you know, you hope it gets better and he's able to do a little bit more.
01:50But you look at it yesterday, I'm like, is it ace stuff?
01:55No.
01:55Is it, you know, what you would expect from Hunter Brown?
01:59No.
01:59But I do think when you look at it and you say, all right, man, he gets me into the
02:05sixth inning.
02:06He gets me five and a third innings, three earned runs, you know, three strikeouts, one walk.
02:14That's not great, but it's doable and it's trending up from his first start.
02:19So I think what he's done the last couple of starts are things you can work with.
02:25And when you look at the rest of the rotation, man, they are grasping right now.
02:32And it looks like they're going to probably lose Javier for some time to the I.L.
02:37They just lost their ace, Hunter Brown.
02:39Hell, they might lose Vasquez now.
02:41Yeah.
02:42Yeah.
02:42And Vasquez.
02:43He just got a ball, foul him off.
02:45Shoot him in the hand.
02:46Let's get Yiner going.
02:49But, yeah, man, I just, I think what Mike has.
02:52He ain't throwing nobody out a second anyway.
02:53What Mike Burroughs has done, I think his stock is going up right now for the Astros.
02:58I agree with you.
02:59I'd like to not, you know, be too worried about Mike Burroughs.
03:03I'd like for Hunter Brown to be there.
03:04I'd like for Christian Javier not to be an absolute mess show,
03:08and we wouldn't have to be talking about Burroughs.
03:10But you're right.
03:11Given the circumstance, boy, him trending in the right direction is absolutely needed.
03:17That's for damn sure.
03:18Right now, man, he's going at least five in every game.
03:20That is something that you can't say for all the rest of them.
03:22You are tuned in to stock up, stock down on the drive.
03:25Sterner Hughley talking Strohs, currently down 6-1 up in Denver against the Rockies today.
03:31But Astros 12 games in.
03:33Ron, stock up.
03:34Mr. Mike Burroughs.
03:36Over to you, Clint.
03:36Stock up for the Strohs.
03:38I'm going Christian Walker.
03:40Yeah, that's a good one.
03:41You know, look, I know that this rotation and this bullpen and this pitching staff overall
03:46is doing their damnedest to find a way to ruin the hottest bats in baseball with a lot of these
03:53guys.
03:54But I think as an Astros fan, one of the big things for me was, who is Christian Walker?
03:59I was a big fan last year.
04:00I wasn't as hard on him as some folks were.
04:02But, I mean, let's be honest.
04:04It left a little bit to be desired.
04:06He is hotter than a firecracker right now.
04:08He's hitting over .300 with an OPS over 1,000.
04:11I think Altuve and Yordano are the only two that are better.
04:15If Christian Walker keeps swinging the bat the way he's swinging, this lineup is going to continue to be a
04:22problem.
04:22He not only lengthens it, but he adds that power.
04:25He adds the veteran, the experience, the great at-bats.
04:28I mean, he's a game changer for this lineup if he keeps swinging it the way that he has.
04:32Yep.
04:33And he got another hit in the first inning or the second inning in this game to set up.
04:37And they're one run.
04:38So, yeah, he's done a great job this far.
04:41You are listening in live with us on a hump day.
04:44The Drive, Sterner, Hugh Glee.
04:45Every Wednesday we do some stock talk around this time.
04:48It is stock up, stock down, talking Astros.
04:50Stock ups, they're done with.
04:52Not a whole lot good going on.
04:53So, stock downs, the options should be a plenty.
04:57Stroh's down 6-1, by the way, if you are needing to keep abreast right now up in Denver.
05:01Ron, back to you, stock down for the Houston Astros.
05:05This was hard to kind of narrow it down to where I want to go here.
05:08A lot of options.
05:10I'm going to go with, I'm going to go with Yiner Diaz.
05:15I don't know what the hell's happened to him.
05:18And I know it is, as Tyler just said, you know, what, 12 games into the season, there are 162
05:24of them.
05:27Like, I don't say this to be an ass.
05:31I just, I don't know what he does good.
05:35Like, literally what he does good.
05:38It is nothing, maybe he frame pitches good, I don't know.
05:44His pitching staff isn't, you know, tip-top shape, so I don't know if that's his strength.
05:50Like, I could tell you the strengths of Maldonado, right?
05:53Like, you know, offensively or defensively, somebody gets on base, they could probably get to third if they want to
06:01with him.
06:02And then, if you're going to have issues like that behind the plate, then you better be hell at the
06:10plate.
06:10And he is hell in the wrong way at the plate.
06:13He is struggling, and we talked about it.
06:16He is the opposite of Cam Smith, and maybe we can spend some time on Cam Smith at some point.
06:21Cam Smith looks like he is, it's clicked.
06:24He feels it.
06:25He knows it.
06:26Yiner looks the complete opposite.
06:28This guy's played in playoff games.
06:30He's got hits in playoff games.
06:31He's played in the ALCS.
06:33He looks like he just has no clue right now.
06:37In between pitches, everything.
06:39I mean, he's batting eighth.
06:40He's, like you said, soon to be ninth.
06:42It is a struggle.
06:43So, my stock down is easily the Yiner Diaz.
06:46Hard to argue with that, but I got to go with one that I think is the most disappointing player
06:53for the Astros right now for me.
06:55There was about two or three things from a pitching perspective that you felt like you could depend on.
07:02Obviously, one of them is Hunter Brown, and one of them has to be Brian Abreu.
07:10I mean, we've had conversations on the drive right here, me and you, about, boy, I like Hader, obviously, as
07:16a closer.
07:17But, man, if he ain't right, man, if he's not injured, if he's not around, man, it's good to have
07:21Brian Abreu, a guy that can get in there and close.
07:22I got to go with Brian Abreu.
07:24He has been absolutely pissy poor, and that neon belt that he wore out there last time, he deserved to
07:30get shelled and get knocked off the bump.
07:33Get your uniform right and get back to dealing the way that we know that Brian Abreu can.
07:38Stock down right now for Brian Abreu.
07:40Zero excuses.
07:41Yeah, he's a tough watch, too, boy.
07:43Pissy poor.
07:45I mean, he's giving up homers.
07:47He's giving up everything right now.
07:50So, yeah, Brian Abreu.
07:51But he's got that same look, too.
07:52It's like you said, when Jake Myers had that check swing and that lower back tightened up, that deer in
07:56the headlight, that nervous look, that, you know, you mentioned Yiner's had it a few times.
08:01You look up, and that's what Abreu has.
08:05Abreu's better than that.
08:06I think Yiner and Abreu, who I think's better than that, too, I think both of them are, they're probably
08:10at this point pressing, putting a lot of pressure on themselves, understanding what's going on and where they could be.
08:16I don't know.
08:17It's tough.
08:17But they definitely need both of those two to get going, right?
08:21Because, I mean, I know Vasquez is there, but they want Yiner to be their starting catcher.
08:27And they damn sure, even when Hayter comes back, they're going to need Brian Abreu to be a big part
08:32of this team.
08:33All right, coming up, we'll give you some updates, not just with this game, but updates injury-wise that the
08:39Astros lost two big parts of their team in about 15 minutes earlier in this game.
08:46We'll let you know the latest on that.
