00:07and all suspects shown are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
00:22In the Turner Park neighborhood.
00:31A concerned father checks on his son after several calls go unanswered.
00:49They find the son lying on the floor in a back room, stabbed multiple times.
01:00Wake him up!
01:02He's gonna wake up!
01:04Don't even call Major Pratt.
01:06Yes.
01:06We're gonna get the people out here to get all the evidence of him.
01:10No!
01:11No!
01:20For homicide detectives, their chance of solving a murder is cut in half if they don't get a lead within
01:28the first 48 hours.
01:48Reggie!
01:49Reggie!
01:49Reggie!

01:51Sergeant Nathan Schilling will lead the investigation.
01:54Contractor's been out since 10 o'clock this morning.
01:56We're walking up in the yard.
01:57Said he thought it was odd that a predictive never came out.
02:00He said I called.
02:01No answer.
02:02Eventually, he said at some point I called Dad.
02:04Dad says I'm on my way.
02:06Dad gets here.
02:07He's alive.
02:08They go in, kinda move through the house.
02:10Contract to see Victor lay on floor, you know, a lot of blood.
02:14Quite a bit.
02:17Victor, John Christopher Fender.
02:2157-year-old John Christopher Fender, known as Chris, was born and raised in Tulsa.
02:27He worked as an insurance agent and spent much of his spare time working on his home and cars.
02:32He leaves behind a large family, including his father and stepmother, sister, and several nieces and nephews.
02:43The victim is in this house.
02:44Okay.
02:45They got the warrant.
02:47The team secured a warrant to search Chris' home.
02:56In here is really where everything is murdered, I believe.
03:06So, stay up.
03:09Chris was stabbed more than 70 times.
03:13There's better.
03:16Wow.
03:18There's a lot of blood on the ground.
03:22Over here, there's a lot more.
03:25It is everywhere.
03:31These shoes, I believe, were a part of it.
03:35Oh, wow.
03:36And there's a portal over the bones.
03:38And there's a knife that's sitting on top of that sink down there.
03:44A second knife and a bloody t-shirt are discovered in the kitchen trash can.
03:50You said the camera's supposed to be in the house?
03:52There are.
03:54Chris has surveillance cameras inside and outside of his home.
03:58I'll have to take it.
04:00It's a passcode log.
04:02The system will have to be accessed by the cyber unit.
04:06Thank you so much.
04:11I got the contractor here.
04:12He said he's willing to come down if we need to interview him.
04:15Dad is very, very emotional.
04:18And I understand.
04:19You know, you walk in and find your son like that.
04:21The suspect is Blake McDonald.
04:25Chris's father told responding officers that he believes Chris's ex-boyfriend, Blake, may be responsible for his son's murder.
04:34Blake, he's about six foot, tall, about 109 pounds.
04:38White male?
04:39Yes.
04:40Approximately 29 years old.
04:42These two have been fighting a lot this past year.
04:45This Blake guy had been living there.
04:47Supposedly he had been kicked out, but he apparently moved back in.
04:52Also, there was a check for well-being out here last night.
04:55Last night, around 9 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Chris's house after a clerk at a marijuana dispensary
05:02reported that Blake had come into the store and made threatening statements.
05:06Did he make contact with the victim at 9?
05:09Nope.
05:09Did he knock on the door?
05:11Tried to go around back to look.
05:13Didn't make contact with anybody.
05:15Fine.
05:21My name is Nathan Schilling.
05:23I'm going to be the lead detective on this case.
05:25Schilling speaks with Chris's father.
05:27This is my partner, Detective Warren.
05:29He's already spoken to you.
05:31You've been around some and I know it.
05:35But I doubt if he's ever, ever seen anybody more pissed than I am right now.
05:41Ever.
05:42Doctor, you totally understand why.
05:45Totally understand why.
05:47I broke 67 bones.
05:48I've had knives stuck in me.
05:50I've been hit with lightning twice.
05:51I've towed three cars, 140 miles an hour stooping me when I was young.
05:57And brother, all the I've been through, don't you?
06:02You don't want to get an equalist.
06:04I don't.
06:07You don't want to get an equalist.
06:09I'm sorry, man.
06:10I'm sorry.
06:11You really are.
06:12This isn't how it's supposed to be.
06:14Parents aren't supposed to bury their kids.
06:17I'm so sorry, sir.
06:19I wish I'd like being there.
06:23I'll say this, and I said it to the other police officers.
06:27He's been making me nervous the last two weeks.
06:29Chris's neighbor speaks up about Blake.
06:32I never had a conversation with him because he was always a little bit strange.
06:35I saw him at the gym a couple weeks ago, and he was talking to himself and being weird
06:39and pacing around, wasn't even using any equipment.
06:41I'll talk to anybody, but I just kept my distance with him.
06:49Then, the team gets the tag number for Blake's car.
06:57It checks back to Blake's name, mother's address, and Mrs. Mom's address.
07:02Someone else already went out there and made contact.
07:06Officers spoke to members of Blake's family, but no one has seen or heard from him.
07:11You got guys moving around right now, kind of looking for the car?
07:14Yes, sir.
07:14A statewide bolo has been issued for Blake's car.
07:17We got a tag number, which is good.
07:19We just got a look at it.
07:27One hour in.
07:28It's been kind of progressively getting worse over, like, the last month.
07:31Another neighbor approaches a shilling about Blake's behavior.
07:35I watched him just last week.
07:37He sat out here just walking back and forth into the carport, just yelling and talking
07:40to himself and sitting there having a full-blown argument with nobody.
07:44There was something definitely wrong with him.
07:46I don't know exactly what it was, but he definitely needs some help.
07:50All right.
07:52So I think my partner already said you'd be willing to go downtown and visit with us?
07:58Yeah.
07:59Chris's contractor agrees to be interviewed at headquarters.
08:02We can go together if you want.
08:04You come with me?
08:05Oh, yeah.
08:06Yeah.
08:07Chris's father also agrees to talk downtown.
08:10We'll talk to you each individually and get your story.
08:12I don't have a story, and I know who's done it, and you know who's done it.
08:19Dad immediately thought that Blake was the person that did this, so we're leaning towards
08:24that.
08:24We don't necessarily know yet.
08:25We'll find out.
08:27We're going to find Blake.
08:38Blake Matthew McDonald.
08:4029-year-old Blake McDonald, an aspiring actor from Tulsa, works the night shift at
08:46a home improvement store.
08:47He has no prior convictions.
08:49It would appear that, I mean, there's really no other suspect other than his significant
08:53other at this point.
08:55We still have to dot our eyes and cross our T's because we don't want to jeopardize anything,
09:01so we're going to holler at the victim's dad and the contractor that was working in the
09:06yard, try to get a little bit more of the back story.
09:08We'll go get this rolling.
09:12I don't know if we spoke a little bit out there, and we got a kind of summary of what
09:16you saw and what happened today.
09:18Detective Reggie Warren starts with Chris's contractor.
09:22You were over the house today doing some landscaping, concrete work, stuff like that.
09:27How long have you known the day for?
09:29Ten years.
09:31Maybe longer than that.
09:35What kind of guy would you describe him as?
09:38A good person, kind person, very witty.
09:46You know, he had a real good sense of humor about him.
09:49A great guy, great guy.
09:51Okay.
09:52Today you got to the house.
09:54Mm-hmm.
09:54And what time did you get there?
09:56I got there this morning around 10 o'clock, and I just got my toes out and went to work.
10:04Chris had not been out of his house all day, so I called him.
10:10Okay, you didn't get any answers.
10:11I didn't get any answers, and then I done some more work, and I called him again.
10:18Got no answer.
10:20So then I called his dad, and I said, hey, have you heard from Chris?
10:25I can't get a hold of him.
10:27I said, his cars are here, but I hadn't seen him all day.
10:30He said, that's strange.
10:31Something's wrong.
10:32I'll be there, and we'll check on him.
10:34He was about to put the key in the door, and I said, hey, why don't we try that door
10:37and see if it's locked first?
10:39And when he opened it up, something told me for sure then something's not right because
10:44Chris does not leave his door unlocked even when he's in the house.
10:51So then I hollered for Chris, didn't get no response, and I turned the corner to go into
10:56the office, and on the door frame there, I was just covered in blood.
11:04I went on around, and I noticed he's laying there on his back, and that's when I ran out
11:10of the house, and I said, I'm going to call an ambulance.
11:15So just kind of describe the relationship between Chris and Blake.
11:20I guess the word would be tumultuous.
11:24They were in a relationship.
11:26I know they were having lots of arguments about different things.
11:30Chris had kicked Blake out for breaking and drugging and cheating on him.
11:37I feel like probably if anybody was to do it, it would be Blake.
11:59I didn't like Blake.
12:02He's just straight.
12:10Always pacing, talking to himself, very disturbing.
12:15That's not normal.
12:17I really appreciate you coming in.
12:19Yeah.
12:23I feel for his dad.
12:24His dad's never going to be the same.
12:26I feel for his dad as well.
12:27I feel for all of you guys.
12:32In the next room, I knew Chris was dead.
12:37I knew it.
12:39Chilling speaks with Chris's father.
12:42Yeah.
12:42Just sometimes you just know when something's not right.
12:48I knew Blake was going to kill him.
12:52But I always thought Chris could protect himself.
12:56Chris was a father figure to him.
12:58So is Blake considerably younger than Chris?
13:02Yes.
13:0330 years ago.
13:07He started to help him.
13:08He started to guide him.
13:10Blake had no friends, no relationship with a father figure.
13:14Very little relationship with his mother.
13:17But he always had these, he'd talk crazy in his head.
13:22Chris ever expressed any concerns about his behavior to you?
13:27Yeah.
13:29He told me he's constantly patient.
13:34Talking to himself.
13:36He said he needs to get some middle of help.
13:41Chris is always talking to me about he's wanting to help him.
13:44He's hoping that he can talk to him and he'll listen
13:49and kind of mentally straighten himself out.
13:54He took on a project, Chris did, if you will.
13:58He's got a good heart.
14:00How long have Chris and Blake known each other?
14:04Well, it has to be he was 19.
14:07Blake was 19?
14:09Yes.
14:09He says Chris met Blake 10 years ago.
14:12And I don't know how they met.
14:16So there's no one else that lives there besides Chris and Blake.
14:22Blake, yes, that's sometimes.
14:24Blake's there sometimes, sometimes he's gone?
14:26Chris kicked him out, okay?
14:28He had to call his clothes in the car.
14:29He's been gone.
14:30When was this?
14:31He says Chris asked Blake to move out three or four months ago.
14:35So at some point, he let him back in, though,
14:38because in there, it sounded like Blake's been around the last couple of weeks.
14:44Yeah, he's been there off and on.
14:45He's been sleeping in his car.
14:47Chris wouldn't let him in.
14:49Are you aware if either of them ever mess around with any kind of drugs?
14:52Yeah, Blake all the time.
14:54Not Chris ever.
14:56Okay.
14:57I mean, obviously, our goal is to go find Blake at this point.
15:00And I appreciate you coming down here and visiting with me.
15:17Four hours in.
15:18Talking to the officer to the scene,
15:19they told me that a call had come in last night from the dispensary here south of downtown.
15:27Blake had been in there, and the worker called in at like 9
15:31and said that he had made some homicidal and suicidal statements.
15:36They rattled her.
15:38Pablo made contact with her, got her to come downtown and talk to us.
15:48Hello.
15:49Hi.
15:50I'm going on a limb and say that one of my partners talked to you about what this was about.
15:55Mm-hmm.
15:55Okay.
15:57Tell me what happened, to the best of your recollection, all right?
16:01Okay.
16:02Um, he came into the dispensary.
16:07He was moving, like, very erratically.
16:10Like, he's been like that the past couple times he's been in the store.
16:14Like, I recognized him when I pulled his name out.
16:16He sketches me out a little bit.
16:18He said he needed dime cards,
16:21and then he started talking about how he was going to go kill someone.
16:29And he said at one point he was going to axe someone.
16:34He said something like,
16:35you're going to see this on the news tomorrow.
16:37And that was when I was like,
16:41I have to call the police.
16:56It took me, like, 20 minutes to make the call
16:58because we were busy with other people.
17:06Did it sound like he was going to go
17:10and do something to more than one person?
17:13No, because he made it sound like he was going to hurt himself, too.
17:16Like, he was going to either kill himself
17:19or he was going to die somehow.
17:22Like, I'm going to die, too,
17:24or I want to die tonight.
17:27All right.
17:27Okay.
17:28Well, thank you for calling.
17:30I know this has to be hard for you.
17:32It's, uh, not an everyday occurrence.
17:37All right.
17:38We'll, uh, get you out of here.
17:44That girl's in shock.
17:46She was scared to death.
17:47She is.
17:48She feels real bad.
17:49Her boss is like,
17:50I can get you to the video.
17:51Detective Pablo Zuniga pulls up surveillance video
17:53he collected from the dispensary.
17:56That's him getting there.
17:57He's running in.
18:00Blake arrives at 8.22 p.m.
18:04So he's walked in.
18:06He's incredibly agitated.
18:09All kinds of movements everywhere.
18:12This isn't sped up or anything.
18:14This is his real speed.
18:16He's whacked out.
18:19The clerk is saying that he's very agitated and angry
18:23and just making statements about wanting to hurt people with an axe.
18:29He mentioned that he was also going to die or kill himself.
18:37He does, like, a double-gun move to his head right there.
18:46Over here, he starts making stabbing motions to his own neck.
18:52Poor girl's like,
18:54I just want to get you out of here.
18:58Those are the shoes that's in the house with a book.
19:06That's pretty good.
19:09And here he's premeditating.
19:11I'm going to go.
19:12Oh, yeah.
19:12This might be one of the most premeditated murders I've had.
19:19That's it.
19:22Blake leaves the dispensary at 8.27 p.m.
19:27And then his vehicle hits a flop,
19:28going westbound on Admiral Harbour.
19:3136 minutes after Blake left the dispensary,
19:34his car was picked up by license plate cameras
19:36driving away from Chris's house.
19:38I wonder if he went home and then he killed him
19:41and then he fled the scene.
19:44The employee from the dispensary called in at 20.52.
19:47According to hers, about a 20-minute time lapse.
19:50Gave his address.
19:51Officers went by the house.
19:53Body cam footage from yesterday.
19:56McNeil pulls up body cam from the officers sent to check on Blake.
20:03I don't know if he's in the house.
20:04This officer is checking the perimeter,
20:06trying to get in contact with someone at the house.
20:08Nobody's answering the door.
20:09I'm thinking our victim's in the house dead already.
20:12But this officer doesn't know.
20:14I mean, there's no reason for him to think anything's going on in the house.
20:17He walked to each side of the house,
20:20looked over the fence.
20:26I mean, there's no reason for him to do anything more.
20:32He got there really right at 21.01.
20:3621, close to 21.02.
20:38And his vehicle's hitting the flood down the street at 21.03.
20:42So I think that's when he's fleeing the scene.
20:45The officer arrived at the house
20:47one minute after license plate cameras
20:49captured Blake's car leaving the scene.
20:51So he barely missed him.
20:53Barely missed him.
20:54And so...
20:57Is it possible it could have happened in that small window?
21:00I think it had to happen in that window.
21:02If he's got the shoes on at the dispensary
21:04and they're clean,
21:06he's not covered in blood.
21:09I think his phone data will tell the tale.
21:12Yeah.
21:12Just waiting on AT&T.
21:14McNeil sent a warrant to Blake's phone company
21:16requesting his location records.
21:19We should hopefully get some data, hopefully, by tomorrow.
21:22Nice.
21:23Hopefully.
21:24Hopefully.
21:26Hopefully.
21:29Seven hours in.
21:30The suspect called in 3.59 a.m.
21:35He said that his roommate just tried to stab him.
21:38Dispatch informs the team that Blake called 911
21:41eight hours after the murder
21:43from near Stringtown, Oklahoma.
21:46Stringtown, like, what, an hour and a half, two hours?
21:48Two and a half hours.
21:48Two hours.
21:49Looked it up.
21:50Stringtown is about 125 miles south of Tulsa.
21:56Tulsa, please.
21:58Um, me and my boyfriend got into some sort of application.
22:03Like, he tried stabbing me.
22:07I drove away to, you know, get some fresh air.
22:12I was in shock.
22:26What is your name?
22:27Blake McDonald?
22:35Like, I just don't know what happened to him.
22:38He was okay when I left.
22:39What location are you at?
22:41I need to send an officer to speak with you and take the report.
22:45I am in the train, like, Tulsa in Stringtown right now.
22:49Okay.
22:49So, do you plan on coming back to Tulsa?
22:52I don't have a car.
22:54I hit it here.
22:54I'm on the side of the highway, uh, walking to Stringtown.
22:59All right, Blake.
22:59What I'm gonna do, I'm gonna put this in and see if an officer or a supervisor will receive you
23:05at all.
23:05All right, thank you.
23:06No problem.
23:07A supervisor called Blake, but he didn't answer.
23:11I wonder if somebody maybe came in contact with that car.
23:14I already called them.
23:16Zuniga reached out to the local sheriff's department and asked them to look for Blake's car.
23:21Their assistant chief called back and said, if we run into the car, we'll give you a call back.
23:25But their dispatch said, according to their records, they had no, nobody out asking for help for hitting a deer
23:31or anything last night.
23:35He called the police last night and said that his boyfriend tried to stab him.
23:41To me, I feel like the call is self-serving.
23:44I would argue that, you know, he just called to try to give himself some sort of self-defense claim.
23:50Eight hours in, the team still has no leads on Blake's whereabouts.
23:55I would be concerned for the safety of others at this point.
23:58Talking to witnesses, he's got some abnormal behaviors.
24:02Sometimes there's medical issues for that, and other times it's drug-induced.
24:07And then sometimes, which is probably more common than not, a combination of the two.
24:14You know, there's a lot of struggles with both of those in society.
24:18And when someone that has some mental health issues exacerbates it with drug use, then, you know, it's kind of
24:25a tempest.
24:34One hour later.
24:36So Margo, doing what Margo does, she did an offline search on Blake and found out that a deputy down
24:45outside of Kiowa ran Blake.
24:47Crime analyst Margo Hayne-Bell discovers that around midnight last night, a deputy found Blake's car on the side of
24:54the road in Pittsburgh County, Oklahoma.
24:58So that's probably a hundred miles south of here.
25:01The deputy said, yeah, the car was disabled, parked on the side of the road.
25:06They found him walking down the highway with a laceration to his face.
25:10Blake says he hit a deer.
25:12The deputy gave him a ride to Kiowa and dropped him off at a convenience store.
25:17Blake got a ride from the deputy four hours before he called 911 from Stringtown to report that his boyfriend
25:24had tried to stab him.
25:26Stringtown's probably another 30 miles down the highway.
25:30You know, if Blake had really been assaulted, the first opportunity he comes in contact with law enforcement, you know,
25:37when you think it might be something important to tell them.
25:39But the deputy said when he asked Blake what happened to his face, Blake said the deer kicked him in
25:45the face.
25:46So I'm going to later decide that maybe it's in my best interest to try to get ahead of this
25:51and at least put a self-defense story up.
25:54So I think it's pretty clear that it's just trying to cover his tracks when he makes that phone call.
26:04Then.
26:07So according to phone stuff, he's somewhere in Texas.
26:12Blake's phone location records finally come in.
26:15Somewhere in Dallas-Fort Worth airport area.
26:18Somewhere in there.
26:20That was at 9.02 p.m.
26:22Blake's phone was last picked up by cell towers near Dallas four hours ago.
26:27They're hoping this dude can fly to Afghanistan.
26:30We called Dallas-Fort Worth, the police department, the airport police, and they're checking their terminals.
26:35But I think there's hotels around the terminals.
26:38This place is so huge.
26:40There's a lot of different areas he could go, a lot of ground to cover.
26:44So Sergeant Stiles is going to reach out to some federal agents and see if they can't help us and
26:49figure out where he went.
26:50Okay.
26:51Let me get on it and I'll take some of them to come for you.
26:53Awesome.
26:55The unfortunate part is he might have already hopped on a flight.
27:07The next warning.
27:09All right.
27:09Thank you so much, sir.
27:10Okay.
27:10Of course.
27:11Bye.
27:12Pretty important news.
27:13We have some contacts down at the FBI and they were able to check the flight itineraries for my suspect.
27:22And it would appear he is on a flight currently from Dallas to JFK and has a connecting flight onto
27:30Paris.
27:32Obviously, we want to snatch him before he leaves the country.
27:35Blake's flight is due to land at JFK Airport in New York in two hours.
27:40I'm going to try to get this warrant knocked out really quick so that when they land, they'll board the
27:44plane and take him into custody.
27:49One hour later.
27:51So, uh, got a warrant issued, $5 million bond since he was trying to flee the country.
27:55Oh, damn mercy.
27:56What?
27:57That's what I'm talking about.
27:59Hopefully, the Port Authority up in New York will be able to pick him up as soon as he lands.
28:05And, uh, we're going to go talk to the family.
28:07Hopefully, while we're talking to him, we'll get him in custody.
28:23Welcome on in.
28:25Welcome, welcome.
28:26Schilling and Warren update Chris's family.
28:29As soon as we hear something, we'll let y'all know.
28:33I'll give you my notes.
28:34Oh, thank you.
28:38Yes, sir.
28:39Yes, sir.
28:40As Schilling and Warren leave Chris's family.
28:451,400 miles away at JFK Airport, Blake's plane has just landed.
29:17Sir, Blake.
29:33Port Authority police officers take Blake into custody.
29:51Back in Tulsa.
29:55He's in custody.
29:56They're emailing me what they have.
29:58All right, let me just run in there and tell them real quick.
30:04See, I just had to try to leave.
30:06He's in custody.
30:07He got him!
30:08They got him up there.
30:09They got him on the plane.
30:10I don't know the story yet, but we'll hear it.
30:13We got some work to do.
30:14We'll talk to God.
30:22Later that afternoon, there's quite a bit of evidence that he had with him.
30:26His clothing he was wearing and he had two backpacks of, uh, stuff.
30:31Blake will be held in New York until he can be extradited back to Tulsa.
30:35We may try to go up there and take an opportunity to interview him, but eventually he will be brought
30:42back to Tulsa and, um, have to answer for what he's done.
30:46With just over 24 hours left in the first 48, the team must now wait to hear Blake's side of
30:53the story.
31:08Eight days later.
31:09Well, we just, uh, landed in New York City, so me and Pablo, this is the first for us.
31:16Schilling and Zunica arrive in New York City, both for the first time.
31:20Sergeant Schilling's gonna talk to, uh, the suspect tomorrow.
31:23I'd like to just kind of touch base with him, let him know, you know, that we are investigating it.
31:30You know, there's obviously two sides to every story, and right now, you know, we don't really have either side.
31:35We just have the physical evidence to it.
31:37He got booked into Queen's Central Booking, and then after that, he ended up getting transferred to Rikers Island.
31:42You hear about it in movies, probably never thought you were gonna be getting to go there.
31:49It's all downhill from here, Pablo.
31:53You peaked.
31:54You peaked way too early.
31:55Yeah.
31:57So, uh, this is my first time in New York City, and, um, it's one of those places I think
32:04is kind of like a bucket list place for a lot of people.
32:07Detective White, who's our local tour guide, he, uh, gave me enough to do to fill up a week or
32:12two, but we don't have that much time, so if we get the opportunity, I'd love to see the World
32:17Trade Center.
32:17It's kind of the one thing that's really on my list.
32:23Two hours later, while they wait to talk to Blake.
32:36Older people talk about where they were, like when JFK was assassinated or Elvis Presley died, but for me, one
32:41of the biggest significant events was 9-11.
32:44I was, uh, actually in training, driving around Tulsa with a senior police officer, and all this stuff's going on
32:50in New York, and it's just, you know, now, gosh, 23 years later, I'm getting to come here and kind
32:59of see it for the first time.
33:02I'll do a hot dog.
33:04I want a hot dog, too.
33:05One hot dog?
33:05Two hot dog.
33:06Okay.
33:07Thank you, sir.
33:10Man, it's good.
33:13There's five buildings I can see right now that are all bigger than any building we have.
33:17It's awesome.
33:18And that's just this side of the street.
33:20That's wild.
33:22So we're going to go over to Rikers at 11, and holler at Blake.
33:28It's a place that's, I don't know, a bit intimidating.
33:32It's like, you know, it's not Alcatraz, but if you talk about jails that people have heard of, that's one
33:40of them.
33:41Yeah.
33:45The next morning.
33:47So we're on our way to Rikers now, and we're going to go meet with Blake, and let him know
33:53that we're interested in his side of the story, and if he decides to talk to us, great.
33:58If not, we'll, you know, go with what we have.
34:04Nathan Schilling.
34:05Nice to meet you, brother.
34:05Nice to meet you as well.
34:06NYPD will escort Schilling and Zuniga across the bridge to Rikers Island.
34:16Hey, Blake.
34:18I am Sir Convaney John.
34:21Also, Oklahoma.
34:22This is a partner, Pablo Luzuniga.
34:26We just wanted to let you know that we are interested in what you have to say, and I'd love
34:32to hear your side of the story.
34:48Welcome to the lawyer.
34:50Okay.
34:51Okay.
34:54Do you have any questions for me about anything at this point?
34:58I don't know.
35:00All right.
35:03You know, it's a little anticlimactic.
35:06He immediately said, I want my attorney, but he starts pointing at his face, at the cuts on his face.
35:13So he's trying to tell me something without telling me something, but ultimately, you know, he chose not to tell
35:19us.
35:20Unfortunately for him, there's a mountain of evidence against him, so whether he talks or not, it's going to be
35:27a hard case to beat.
35:31Two hours later...
35:32Is that everything up in the conference room?
35:34All right.
35:35...Chilling and Zuniga meet with Port Authority Detective Michael McDaniels to collect Blake's belongings.
35:41Were you actually on the plane when he got arrested, or...?
35:43Yeah, yeah.
35:44Oh, nice.
35:45Did you think he was surprised or shocked, or...?
35:48I wouldn't say he was really surprised.
35:50He kept his head down, didn't really talk.
35:53He was very cooperative.
35:54At one point, I don't remember the exact wording, but somehow he uttered, uh, he stabbed me.
36:03There was another interaction with him when we were in the cells.
36:06He said, Detective, I said, I have a question.
36:07I said, sure.
36:08He said, uh, did he die?
36:11I hear a guy saying, I have a warrant for murder.
36:14Did he die?
36:14I said, all I can tell you is that you have a warrant for murder out of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
36:20And he said, okay.
36:26So, this is the bags.
36:29No, I mean, this is the clothing.
36:32We were asked not to go through it, so we didn't even help it.
36:35Okay, excellent.
36:36Blake's luggage will be searched for possible evidence back in Tulsa after the team has secured a warrant.
36:42I think that's everything.
36:44Thanks so much.
36:45No problem.
37:11Blake got brought back on Thursday, so he is...
37:16He is now at the Tulsa County Jail.
37:18I was able to get a search warrant for the bags that Blake had with him on his flight.
37:23In the check bag, I ended up finding a kind of a military-style, like, K-Bar knife.
37:31I don't see any blood on it.
37:33I don't know.
37:34There's nothing that gives me reason to believe that this was involved in it.
37:38And also found a tomahawk-style axe.
37:44So, you know, again, it doesn't look like it was involved in the actual incident, but the fact that the
37:50witness from the dispensary said that he said he was going to go axe somebody, it could play a role
37:55in the investigation.
37:57I have some DVR footage I've also been able to review.
38:01The cybercrimes unit was able to access Chris's surveillance system and sent chilling several clips of Blake inside the house
38:08at the time of the murder.
38:11So, he pulls into the driveway.
38:14Twelve minutes after leaving the marijuana dispensary, Blake arrives at Chris's home.
38:20For whatever reason, it doesn't pick up the initial him walking in the house.
38:25This is literally two minutes after he pulled into the driveway.
38:32It would appear that he's already had an altercation with the victim.
38:36And he ended up back outside somehow.
38:42He's coming back in the front door and he's already bloody and he pulls the knife out and goes back
38:49to where our victim was found.
38:53You can see him over here a little bit.
38:58It's almost like he's talking to him.
39:14You know, we definitely have self-defense cases.
39:18You know, you have people get into a fight and someone pulls out a knife and stabs someone once, twice,
39:23three times in quick succession to get away.
39:27And then that person dies.
39:29You know, that's a little bit understandable.
39:31But to stab someone at least 71 times, numerous stab wounds to the chest, to the back, to the back
39:41of the head, that's not consistent with a self-defense claim.
39:45I think, you know, this case, there's no question that Blake was going to kill Chris.
39:51He's saying that before it happens.
39:54So, he has lost pretty much any self-defense claim.
39:58He's going over there with the intent to stab him.
40:00And I think the evidence would support that.
40:33Eight months after Chris was killed, his family gathers to remember him.
40:41We had some good times with Uncle Chris.
40:43We miss him, don't we?
40:45Yes, we do.
40:47He was funny, wasn't he?
40:48Yes.
40:50Chris was just a real kidder.
40:53He loved to joke.
40:54He loved to laugh.
40:55He worked on his cars.
40:56He kept an immaculate yard.
40:58He was always meticulous about everything, whether it was artwork or decorating.
41:04He always liked to improve things.
41:08He just had a soft spot, too.
41:11A soft heart.
41:14And it's just unfortunate, you know, that he got hooked up with Blake.
41:20He just wanted to use Chris.
41:22Chris was loving.
41:24I think at the beginning, it was a boyfriend-boyfriend relationship.
41:29But later on, I think it became, I'm trying to nurture him.
41:34He came from a bad home, you know, and I can make it better kind of thing.
41:38And I can help him.
41:40And, you know, he, I mean, for a long time, he just took advantage of my brother.
41:46I mean, we all worried Blake would do something.
41:50I kept trying to get Chris to kick him out.
41:54And Chris kept telling me, he says, he'll heal himself.
41:56And I said, that's not your problem.
41:59Your problem is letting him stay there.
42:01You need to get him out of that house.
42:05I'm sorry I couldn't protect him.
42:06I'm sorry I couldn't change things for him.
42:10It was just very sad.
42:12And he didn't deserve, I mean, nobody would deserve that.
42:15But my brother didn't deserve it from just trying to help somebody.
42:23I wish we could turn back time.
42:25But you can't.
42:29I just don't want him to be forgotten.
42:31I don't want my brother to be forgotten.
42:38I don't want him to be forgotten.
42:40I don't want him to be forgotten.
42:41I don't want him to be forgotten.
