00:04Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Zulkifli Ahmad told the Kuala Lumpur High Court on Wednesday
00:09that his five million ringgit defamation suit against former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib
00:16Tun Razak was not intended to destroy him politically. Zulkifli replied no when asked
00:22whether he filed the suit to prevent Najib's return to politics on the second day of the
00:27hearing over a Facebook post published in August 2020. The post alleged that Zulkifli had practiced
00:34nepotism in securing his daughter Nurul Iman's appointment as a board member of Amanah Ikhtia
00:40Malaysia in 2018. Zulkifli said he had also sued Datuk Dr. Asiraf Wajdi Dusuki over the same issue
00:48but he said the matter had since been settled. Zulkifli said he did not take legal action against
00:54media organizations that reported on similar allegations. Najib's lawyers said the Facebook
01:01post was part of normal political discourse raising concerns over perceived cronyism and nepotism.
01:07Zulkifli acknowledged that such views could be part of criticism but maintained that the post directly
01:13referred to him and his daughter. The trial continues on Thursday.
