00:07the impact of the ceasefire on oil prices.

00:16The voyage of four astronauts to the far side of the moon capture global attention as people around the world
00:21watch the space mission.
00:31US President Donald Trump agrees to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, this less than two hours before his deadline
00:37on Tuesday, April 7, for Tehran to reopen the state of Hormuz or face devastating attacks on its civilian infrastructure.
00:44Trump's announcement represents an abrupt turnaround from his earlier warning when he said, quote,
00:49a whole civilization will die tonight if his demands were not met.
00:52I can't talk about ceasefire, but I can tell you that we have an active, willing participant on the other
01:01side. They would like to be able to make a deal.
01:04Pakistan's Prime Minister Shabazz Sharif says he invited Iranian and US delegations to meet in Islamabad on Friday, April 10.
01:10Trump says the last-minute deal was subject to Iran's agreement to pause its blockade of oil and gas supplies
01:15through the strait.
01:16Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakshi says Tehran would cease counterattacks and provide safe passage through the waterway if attacks against
01:23it stop.
01:24Meantime, China and Russia veto a UN resolution encouraging states to coordinate efforts to protect commercial shipping in the strait
01:31for Hormuz.
01:32The two countries say the measure is biased against Iran while Washington's ambassador to the world body called on responsible
01:38nations to join the US in securing the waterway.
01:41Meantime, the Philippine Department of Migrant Workers says 5,601 Filipino seafarers are stranded in the Persian Gulf due to
01:48the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
01:51BMW Secretary Hans Kakdak tells the House Ways and Means Committee Wednesday, April 8, Filipinos are onboard 470 vessels stuck
01:59in the area.
02:00He adds the agency made sure all ships, all the seafarers, have adequate water supplies.
02:07Energy Secretary Sharon Garin says despite the pronouncement of a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, it is still
02:13difficult to predict how it will impact global and domestic oil prices.
02:17I think the problem will stay longer than the war itself. So if it ever goes back to 100 pesos
02:25or below, it will take some time. We don't have any visibility of where this will go.
02:32Meantime, the DOE says the country has enough fuel supply to last until the latter half of May, giving time
02:37for companies to replenish stocks.
02:39Data from the DOE's Oil Industry Management Bureau shows supply dipped slightly to 50.42 days from 50.9 days
02:46a week earlier.
02:47But Garin says this is more than enough time to replenish the inventory.
02:51The latest figures come as Iran assures the safe passage of Philippine flag tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
02:58Garin also says the country's supply of liquefied petroleum gas or LPG is currently the lowest among all the petroleum
03:03products at just 33 days.
03:06She adds the government aims to keep LPG's supply stable.
03:09But Garin notes even if the ongoing conflict subsides, rollbacks and pump prices could be slower because the war damaged
03:15key oil facilities in the Gulf.
03:19Vice President Sara Duterte is unable to secure an order from the Supreme Court that would have blocked a public
03:24impeachment hearing against her at the House of Representatives.
03:28Duterte's petition with the Supreme Court specifically requested a temporary restraining order.
03:32She argues the impeachment complaints violated the one-year bar and the House's referral to the Justice Committee was invalid.
03:38She also flags the supposed trial nature of the proceedings.
03:42But the Supreme Court in a press release Wednesday, April 8, made no mention of a TRO issued in favor
03:48of the Vice President.
03:49Instead, it directs the respondents of Duterte's petition to submit a comment within 10 non-extendable days.
03:55The respondents include the House of Representatives as a whole, the House Justice Committee, the Senate, and the petitioners behind
04:02the two active impeachment complaints against her.
04:04The public hearing on April 14 will feature key witnesses against Duterte including alleged bagman Ramil Madriaga.
04:12The voyage of four astronauts to the far side of the moon capture global attention as people around the world
04:18watch the space mission.
04:20The event dominated Google search traffic for the last week and mission videos racked up millions of views.
04:25The three American and one-Canadian astronauts provide real-time documentation of NASA's 10-day Artemis II mission full of
04:32historic firsts.
04:34Christina Koch, Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Jeremy Hansen were able to send a carefully created flow of high-quality
04:39photos, GoPro videos, and other footage from NASA.
04:42Glover tells Earthbound viewers in a transmission from space,
04:46You look beautiful. And from up here, you also look like one thing. You know, Homo sapiens is all of
04:52us. No matter where you're from or what you look like, we're all one people.
04:58The multi-billion-dollar series of missions under the Artemis program aims to return astronauts to the moon's surface by
05:042028 before China.
05:06It also wants to build a moon base for potential future US missions to Mars.
