The new GLC features the next generation of DIGITAL LIGHT with micro-LED technology (“pixelated LEDs”) and a high-performance chip. This increases the high-resolution illumination field by approximately 40 percent, resulting in significantly enhanced brightness for both the high beams and road projections. At the same time, the light module consumes about 50 percent less energy compared to its predecessor. The headlights themselves also contribute to resource conservation: they offer the same customer experience but are more than a quarter lighter than their predecessors. This is due to the more compact design of the micro-LEDs and the use of a single control unit. All software components are integrated into the Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS) and were primarily developed by Mercedes-Benz.
Another significant innovation is the dynamically swiveling high-beam spot function, which no longer simply shines straight ahead. The ULTRA RANGE high beam is now integrated into the cornering lights and thus swivels dynamically. Thanks to combined camera information and map data, the cornering lights react even more precisely to the road's curvature. The partial high beam function is even more robust because the detection performance of dimly lit road users has been further improved. The partial high beam function is available in the USA for the first time. Thanks to combined camera information and map data, the cornering light reacts even more precisely to road curvature.
