00:00President Trump chillingly declared that Iran's whole civilization will die tonight, as the
00:05U.S. reportedly unleashed targeted strikes on Iran's critical Karg Island on Tuesday.
00:10The strikes were carried out on military targets on the Islamic Republic's oil-critical stronghold,
00:15Axios reported, citing an unidentified senior U.S. official.
00:19Karg Island, which is one-third of the size of Manhattan and located in the Persian Gulf,
00:24controls roughly 90 percent of Iranian crude oil exports.
00:28The mission included airstrikes along the northern side of the island, hitting military bunkers
00:33and storage facilities, air defense systems, and other military facilities, an official
00:38told NBC News.
00:39When asked about the Karg Island strikes early Tuesday, President Trump told The Post he
00:44quote, "...can't comment on that."
00:47Moments later he took to Truth Social to warn Iran that a whole civilization will die tonight
00:52if the regime does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. ET on April 7.
00:57A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again.
01:01I don't want that to happen, but it probably will.
01:05However, now that we have complete and total regime change, where different, smarter, and
01:09less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen.
01:14Who knows, he wrote.
01:16That same day, Iran called on its youth to form human chains around its power plants, after
01:21President Trump threatened to decimate the Islamic Republic's energy infrastructure.
01:25In March, United States Central Command said more than 90 military targets had been struck
01:30on Karg Island, however that no damage had been done to its oil facilities.
01:35Trump has thus far hesitated making the consequential move to avoid long-term damage to Iran's economy.
01:41Karg Island sits just 15 nautical miles off the main coast of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
01:46The small, rocky island made of hard coral sitting in the Persian Gulf is just 5 miles long,
01:52but hosts one of the most strategically critical oil terminals on the planet.
01:56Because the waters around Iran's main coastline are too shallow for the proper oil tankers
02:00to operate, the Islamic Republic instead pumps the vast majority of its oil through underwater
02:05pipelines to the island.
02:07Being that gas and oil experts are among the cornerstones of Iran's economy, if it lost
02:12control of Karg Island to the United States, it would be a significant financial blow to
02:16the IRGC and its abilities to keep up in the conflict.
