00:43:08I want to get everybody's thoughts on because Jensberth Alaska after the game said

00:43:13basically that it was a disgrace they should have had a penalty

00:43:17and they have better cameras for Motherwell TV than the VAR

00:43:23because they spotted that Maswanese had been clipped

00:43:27and he couldn't believe it and and that for me is the real source of

00:43:31frustration on it I have to say Alec at the time when it went and Maswanese fell down

00:43:37there wasn't there was a claim for the penalty but there wasn't a huge furore

00:43:41with all the players all surrounding everybody and shouting for it

00:43:44so you weren't as fully aware of it until Jensberth Alaska who came out and said

00:43:50wait a minute we've got footage here that's better than what the VAR have

00:43:53it should have been a penalty

00:43:55and a red card yeah so you know I think that was early exchanges

00:43:59seven minutes so again and see the thing is you're investing a lot of money into this system

00:44:05and as I said I actually like VAR I think we've got the Lidl version because we hold so many

00:44:12cameras at certain games

00:44:14and ultimately sometimes we're not presenting the officials with the correct footage either

00:44:19I want to try and kind of a I want to try and offer a bit of balance on it

00:44:25here quite simply

00:44:26you know I'm not the SFA's lawyer in defence of the referees and everything but

00:44:31but there's only so much money that clubs can afford to pay for it

00:44:35they are realising and everybody's realising that it needs to be better it needs a better system

00:44:42but the other thing about it you know if they're reacting to we need better a better system to get

00:44:47better results of it

00:44:48they certainly won't be reacting to the fact that every fan and their granny hates it

00:44:51yeah

00:44:52so nobody's reacting to the fact that nobody nobody really wants it

00:44:55and if they are forced to it which is not going to leave

00:44:58then they want to try and limit what it's used for Stuart because the fans don't like it

00:45:04no they don't I'm for it because if it gives you more percentage chances of getting the right result then

00:45:12but just touching on what you were saying about Motherwell none of the players claim for it

00:45:15I think there's a thing now that we talk about don't go claim the referee don't go and shout at

00:45:20just concentrate on your game because Val's seen it you know so let them make the right decision

00:45:24Val and you chasing using up energy chasing after the referee you end up being out of position

00:45:28they got the park and all that sort of stuff so you leave it for the referee

00:45:32you leave it for VAR to go and make that decision but they need to make the right decision

00:45:36yeah I mean you know many a manager has highlighted to is it's costing money

00:45:40it's costing money out of the budget when you use it

00:45:43yeah and last month we speak about it every week Peter

00:45:46we see the technology they're down south with the English Premiership

00:45:49you know they've got 100-200 cameras you know and they get the right decision eventually

00:45:56but ours is just not at that same level and it's frustrating

00:45:59as Alex said you know the officials in the VAR department are not getting presented with the right

00:46:04footage to go and make the right decisions because of the lack of cameras because of the lack of investment

00:46:09okay um sorry if we go on now

00:46:12you need your radio client producer's head on

00:46:13I was actually going to say that even when they do get presented with certain images

00:46:17they sometimes don't get it right either

00:46:19that's exactly no that's a good point

00:46:20no and as much as we're saying that because there was images at the weekend you're still thinking

00:46:25but you know the thing about it Alec and I think Stuart touched on it there in that catchphrase

00:46:30which really has been ultimately for me the thing that's always driven me towards the VAR is

00:46:39it's about getting a greater percentage of decisions right

00:46:42but there's always going to be that subjective decision because there's still a human being operating the technical equipment

00:46:48and if his perception is no no you know that's how I would never want a footballer anywhere near VAR

00:46:54you know because quite simply you're sitting in there depending on the type of footballer you were

00:46:59you know oh get him up that was just a

00:47:01that's just an elbow

00:47:02that's the older card you know give peace

00:47:05or me it was a red card

00:47:06yeah

00:47:06because I was a bottler

00:47:09so I would never like a footballer on the VAR panel
