A dramatic escalation in the ongoing Iran–U.S. conflict has unfolded after a U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down over Iranian territory, marking a major turning point in the war. U.S. officials have confirmed the loss of the aircraft, while Iran has portrayed the incident as a significant military victory.

According to reports, both crew members ejected safely, with one rescued quickly and the other forced to evade capture for nearly 48 hours in hostile terrain before a high-risk U.S. rescue mission brought him back.

While Donald Trump has downplayed the incident—reportedly calling it “luck” or a limited setback—analysts warn the implications are far more serious. The shootdown has exposed the capability of Iranian air defenses, challenging assumptions about U.S. air superiority and raising fears of further losses if the conflict intensifies.

00:00Well, you know what? When you do thousands and thousands of flights, and you have one plane shot down, and
00:05not mortally, the two pilots got out, they got a little bit lucky.
00:09And you know what? In war, you need a little bit of luck also. They got a little bit lucky.
00:13That's all they got.
00:14You said that Iran has no anti-aircraft equipment. How are they able to stop those?
00:20Well, you know what? When you do thousands and thousands of flights, and you have one plane shot down, and
00:25not mortally, the two pilots got out, they got a little bit lucky.
00:30And you know what? In war, you need a little bit of luck also. They got a little bit lucky.
00:33That's all they got.
00:34Had we not broken the Barack Hussein-Obama agreement, you know what I'm talking about, the Iran nuclear deal.
00:43This is years ago, my first term. You would have had a total... Israel would have been gone, extinguished.
00:50Israel would have been wiped off the face of the earth, and the entire Middle East would have been, at
00:55a minimum, in big trouble.
00:57But I did it. That was phase one. We killed Soleimani. Without Soleimani, if they had Soleimani, it would be
01:03a whole different thing.
01:04Maybe. We'd still be winning, but it would have been harder.
01:07Because we are obliterating that country. And I hate to do it, but we're obliterating. And they just don't want
01:13to say uncle.
01:14They don't want to cry as the expression goes, uncle. But they will. And if they don't, they'll have no
01:20bridges, they'll have no power plants, they'll have no anything.
01:24I won't go further, because there are other things that are worse than those two.
01:29And we might have, well, the thing, if I had my choice, what would I like to do? Take the
01:36oil.
01:37Because it's there for the taking. There's not a thing they can do about it.
01:40Unfortunately, the American people would like to see us come home.
01:43If it were up to me, I'd take the oil, I'd keep the oil, and would make plenty of money.
01:48And I'd also take care of the people of Iran, much better than they've been taken care of.
01:52It's been horrible. They've killed 45,000 people as of a month and a half ago. 45,000 protesters. We
02:00don't do that.
02:01So if I had my choice, I'd keep the oil. But I also want to make the people of our
02:06country happy.
02:07I think most people wouldn't understand that. I'll give you an example. Venezuela has worked out so incredibly.
02:14We have 100 million barrels of oil right now in Houston being refined. It's been great.
02:21The relationship with Venezuela, the leaders, has been fantastic.
02:24And I think we're going to have a long-term, very good relationship.
02:29And it might be beyond long-term. You understand what I'm saying.
02:41Well, I tell you what, I'm pretty good at this stuff. And I go around and I check.
02:45They'd like to see us win and come home.
02:48And I appreciate CNN for the first time maybe in my life.
02:51They did a poll.
02:52And everyone's saying, oh, is Trump losing MAGA?
02:55No, I'm not losing MAGA. MAGA loves what I'm doing.
02:57And CNN did a poll of MAGA voters, a big poll, very important poll, Harry.
03:02And he went on, he said, this is amazing, 100% support.
03:07He said, I've never had a 100% poll at anything before.
03:11And it's, do you support Trump, MAGA people?
03:13Which is, by the way, mostly Republican.
03:16If you look, I would say MAGA makes up a majority, like, about 95% of the Republican Party.
03:23All right? So they went out, they did a poll at CNN, Quebec, 100% support.
03:29So they support what we're doing.
03:32But they would like to see it end and come back.
03:35But remember, wars last years. We're in there for 34 days.
03:39And we've obliterated a very powerful country in 34 days.
03:44Yeah, if it were up to me, I'd like to keep the oil.
03:46I just don't think the people of the United States would really understand.
03:49How is it taking care of the Iranian people if you're part of me?
03:56Yeah, who are you with? Who are you with?
03:57Yes.
03:59Well, that's a radical group of lunatics if you're with.
04:02Let me just tell you, let me just tell you, very fair question.
04:06The Iranian people, when they don't hear bombs go up, they're upset.
04:12They want to hear bombs because they want to be free.
04:14And the only reason they're not out protesting, you know that, is because they were informed that if they protest,
04:21like the wrestler and his friends, if they protest, they will be shot immediately.
04:26And that's an edict. That's in writing.
04:29If they protest, if they go out in the streets, they will be immediately shot.
04:34They don't have guns.
04:35You know, we sent some guns, but the group that we're supposed to give, which I said would happen to
04:40my people, I said it, I called it exactly.
04:43We sent guns, a lot of guns.
04:45They were supposed to go to the people so they could fight back against these thugs.
04:49You know what happened?
04:50The people that they sent them to kept them because they said, what a beautiful gun, I think I'll keep
04:55it.
04:55So I'm very upset with a certain group of people, and they're going to pay a big price for that.
05:00But the Iranian people will fight back as soon as they know they're not going to be shot and as
05:06soon as they can get weapons.
05:08If they had weapons, not many of them, if they had weapons that would go the other way, and you
05:14know what would happen?
05:15Iran would give up in two seconds because they wouldn't be able to take it.
05:18But in Iran, they have absolutely no weaponry, and they've been told, point blank, if you come out, if you
05:25come out to the streets, you will be killed.
05:27As of this morning, and we have this on pretty good information, 45,000 protesters have been killed.
05:34Pretty bad.
05:38You said Iran has been obliterated.
05:39Why are we still out there?
05:42It's a good country.
05:44They can't fight back.
05:45They have no capability.
05:48I mean, they have some missiles left.
05:51They have some drones left, but essentially they have no capability.
05:55They had a lucky shot with an airplane, but we got them back out.
05:58The rescue was incredible.
05:59And it wasn't of one person.
06:00It was of two persons.
06:02There are those that say that's never happened before.
06:04Because usually when you're shot down in strong enemy and deep enemy territory, you can't go after them because you'll
06:11end up losing 250 people to get one.
06:13So it's a terrible thing.
06:15But we had to make a decision.
06:16Do we do it or do we not?
06:17And we did.
06:18And, you know, we have some helicopters with a lot of bullet holes in them right now.
06:22Probably you know that.
06:24Now, I'm very honored by, I'm very honored to have rebuilt our military.
06:28We rebuilt our military in my first term.
06:31I'm using it in our second term.
06:33And we are the most respected country anywhere in the world with the greatest military anywhere in the world.
06:39So we have a news conference.
06:41You'll all be there.
06:42So you could ask the question a little while.
06:44We have a news conference in a little while.
06:46What would you like to ask?
06:55Well, all of this is happening for their future.
06:59So they will be safe in years to come.
07:04We're fighting for our children that are now in a war zone.
07:08We're keeping them as safe as we can possibly keep them.
07:11But we're fighting for their parents, their grandparents.
07:14We're fighting for them.
07:15We're fighting for their future.
07:16And I will tell you, it was given to me loud and clear, the time the Iranian people are the
07:22most unhappy, when you hear bombs all over, is when those bombs stop.
07:26That's the problem.
07:28When they stop, because that means that, are they coming back?
07:31We want to have them back.
07:33And, you know, everybody knows it.
07:34Everybody sees it.
07:35So hopefully it could be over with quickly.
07:39Again, there are lots of different alternatives.
07:41We have many alternatives.
07:42We could leave right now, and it would take them 15 years to rebuild what they have.
07:46We could leave right now.
07:48But I want to finish it up.
07:49Iran, ready, cannot have a nuclear weapon.
07:53They are lunatics.
07:54And you can't put nuclear weapons in the hands of a lunatic.
07:57Thank you very much.
