00:57Nate, hon, is everything all right?
01:02Spirits hear me.
01:04It's our needs must curse, but they'll know a pinch.
01:08No, it sounds brilliant.
01:10And it's the lead, is it?
01:11Oh, great.
01:12OK, yeah.
01:13No, I can get a tape out of it to you.
01:15When's the deadline?
01:17I'll find someone.
01:18OK, my darling, let's do lunch when I'm back, OK?
01:21And I'm paying this time, you cheeky monkey.
01:24All right, you can pay.
01:25OK, lots of love.
01:26Bye.
01:28Another self-tape.
01:29So annoying.
01:31I'll tell you what it was, but I've just got to sign an NDA, you know, so...
01:34That's cool, Mum.
01:36Pleased for you.
01:37Guys, guys, we've got a situation.
01:38Like, a bad one.
01:40Rich is a no-show.
01:41His phone's going straight to voicemail.
01:42I think we all know where Prospero's total laughter.
01:50I think we all know where Prospero's total laughter.
01:51No, no, never.
01:54No, no, never.
01:56That is.
01:57I guess our last night was always going to be a mad one.
02:00After the way this tour's gone.
02:04But we both made it to the end.
02:08No, no, never, no more will I pay.
02:16No, never, no more.
02:20Rich.
02:21Rich, come on.
02:24Rich, we've got to go.
02:26Skedaddle, youth.
02:27Rich, come on.
02:28There's an audience.
02:28They've paid to see us.
02:29To see you.
02:32Come on, you're not going to let them down, are you?
02:38All right, come on.
02:40Hey, hey.
02:45All right.
02:46All right, all right.
02:50All right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right.
02:52Oh, sweet Lord.
02:55Mr Dempster, you doing okay?
02:58Of course I am.
02:59Why wouldn't I be?
02:59Just a little dry around the mouth, that's all.
03:01Final call for Miranda.
03:02Act one, scene two.
03:03Final call, Miranda.
03:06Oh, no, no, no, no, no, that's a pop.
03:11Oh, much advice.
03:22Then to sea boys and go hang.
03:30This is a scurvy tune.
03:34Oh, but here's my comfort.
03:37Do not torment me.
03:39Oh.
03:39Whoa.
03:40What's the matter?
03:41Have we devils here?
03:43If all the wine in my bottle will recover him, I will help his ague.
03:53Ah, that's a brave god.
03:55And bear celestial liquor.
03:57Come, amen.
03:58I will pour some in thy other mouth.
04:06Stavano!
04:07Stavano!
04:07Lost thy other mouth caught me.
04:10Why, this is a devil and no monster.
04:12Stavano, I am Trinculo.
04:14Be not afeard.
04:16Thy good friend, Trinculo.
04:18Very Trinculo, indeed.
04:20I swear upon that bottle to be thy true subject.
04:24I'll show thee every fertile inch of the island.
04:30I see.
04:31I see.
04:34I prithee.
04:37Let me show thee where crabs grow.
04:41And with my long nails, I'll dig thee pig...
04:47Pig nuts.
04:51Oh, my God, Michael.
04:55Nathan, we need our first aid here.
04:58Michael, look to me.
05:01Oh, my God, he's not breathing.
05:03Someone call an ambulance.
05:05No!
05:06Quick!
05:07Somebody call an ambulance!
05:38Oh, my God!
05:47Yes Thomas what's up are you at the shop sir I am practicing my darts oh can't say you don't
05:54need it since I got myself a decent set of arrows my form was improved get in I'm presuming this
06:03isn't a social call you got a case a suspected poisoning occurred doing a theater performance
06:08the victim collapsed on stage what you sure it wasn't an accident according to paramedics the
06:13symptoms suggest it's cyanide poisoning interesting no everything all right I think I might have just
06:23nearly killed Harry what are you doing man you can't play on here it's not safe Michael Farah 32
06:34years old suddenly collapsed halfway through the second act of the performance the tempest the
06:40poster said yeah last 10 months they've been touring beaches all over the world with it
06:45this was their final performance sergeant Fletcher's taking all the necessary statements
06:49Caliban I'll take it one sec let me check yes yes he was I mean two points for you inspector
06:58how did you work that out well he looks monster you know not human I assume the smell of almonds
07:06got
07:07the paramedics thinking it was cyanide which is fast acting so do we know what he consumed before he
07:12died well apparently he drank from this moments before it happened it's a fiasco I mean I'm trying
07:19my best here sir I haven't been here for long I just got here oh this is a fiasco oh
07:24it's a
07:25traditional Italian wine bottle he'll have drank from this in act two scene two the famous drinking
07:29scene let me check for you again boom shakalaka two more points for you again inspector it was
07:36indeed act two scene two oh the man knows this Shakespeare he does who knew cherry juice that'll be
07:44for the red wine so chances are we're looking at our murder weapon that's what you think right but it
07:50can't be because two others drank from the same bottle during the performance
07:55Stefano and Trinculo that one I don't know sir but based on your previous farm two pints again so
08:01what happened to the other two actors who drank from this not a thing the paramedics checked them out and
08:05they seem fine and um they recorded the show seen as it was the last performance so I will watch
08:12it back
08:13and check to see what happened but if they did drink from the same bottle then he must have ingested
08:19the
08:19poison some other way hmm let's see what the rest of the company have to say these are two that
08:32drank from the same bottle as a victim mm-hmm just Gorman and Anya Chambers she and the victim were
08:36in a
08:37relationship together and she's taking it pretty badly who are the others so this is Richard Dempster
08:44he directed this production and he also plays uh Prospero there comes a moment in every actor's life
08:52a certain character's call to you I had no choice I had to submit okay and this is Nathan Burns
09:02he's the
09:03company stage manager I swear if there was poison in that bottle it wasn't me that put it in there
09:09actually mr. Burns we're working on the basis that the poison was administered another way really oh
09:13thank god yeah the cyanide's fast acting so if it was in your system we'd pretty much know by now
09:19we'd
09:20like to know what else mr. Farr consumed in the 20 minutes or so before he died Mikey never ate
09:27for a show
09:27not for two or three hours did he drink anything I just sip water what did he drink from uh
09:35one of
09:36those water flask thingies um oh there it is okay so take me through exactly what happened this
09:47afternoon anything out of the ordinary we went up a bit late by about 15 minutes how come
09:55um just um technical hitch and once the show had started oh um Michael was um on stage in scene
10:06one
10:06he doubles as the bosun take in the top sail 10 to the master's whistle no no very very swift
10:15makeup
10:15costume change reappear as Caliban in act one scene two Anya helps um well helped with that and how did
10:25he seem then fine and what about before he went on stage and collapsed a bit nervous pacing buying his
10:34nails he always was before that scene there are a couple of tricky speeches in it but he wasn't looking
10:40ill can any of you think why someone might want to do this to mr. Farrar mikey was loved by
10:51the whole
10:51company very talented boy he had the whole world at his feet
11:07if we're working on the basis that the killer got the poison into Michael's system 15 20 minutes
11:13prior to him dying on stage and it must be one of the cast or a stage crew that
11:21sir why kill someone like that in front of an audience and on the very last show of the tour
11:29i mean after today they could all go home right they never have to see each other again
11:34so why did he have to die on that stage today
11:40this is a public beach right well we're gonna need some security to keep an eye on the crime scene
11:46and get sergeant fletcher and officer rose to do a sweep of the place on it
11:58you all right mr dempster oh oh no 10 months on tour will do this you
12:07come on richard it's time to go
12:22well i recognize you from somewhere oh yeah it's a whole community police scheme thing we're doing
12:30sounds thrilling i didn't catch your name in the frenzy of it all sergeant mattie fletcher sergeant
12:38would you like to go for a drink with me uh while i'm on the island no that's inappropriate
12:44mr gorman you know with me being a police officer and you a possible suspect in a murder case right
12:51yeah well that makes sense um i hope that wasn't too embarrassing not for me it wasn't good good um
12:58i guess as an actor i lost all sense of shame a while ago
13:04did he just ask you on a date during a murder investigation that's a red flag right there
13:08maybe he's the killer maybe he's trying to get close to the police to keep an eye on the investigation
13:13or maybe he's just a bozo that's also a possibility
13:16uh-huh crazy man
13:19uh-huh
13:20uh-huh
13:32take a bow mikey because it's all over now i told you it was always gonna end this way
13:50oh that's great man i'll get the beers yeah yeah and some snacks nice what time should we say
13:55around seven ish yeah cool man all right nice one see you then i just arranged a dance night with
14:03daryl tonight he's gonna get his mates around it's gonna be a bit like being back home you know
14:08lads standing around the dartboard beers banter the only thing that's missing is a sticky pub carpet
14:14and some pork scratchings pork scratchings yeah they are the quintessential english pub snack
14:20it's fried pigskin i'll get some sent over for you oh no rush
14:28uh lab results uh yes and they confirmed the victim died from potassium cyanide poisoning
14:35no surprise there they checked michael's own water bottle and found no traces of the poison in it
14:41whatsoever nothing in his water bowl as for the fiasco cherry juice fairly high glucose levels
14:52they noticed but most importantly a lethal dose of potassium cyanide
15:00that is surprising poison was in the bottle that our victim and the other two actors drank from on stage
15:07so how can three people drink from the same poison bottle and only one of them die
15:12it doesn't make any sense
15:30well we can rule out the pretending to drink theory i mean these guys are drinking from the bottle for
15:35real no question so what if one of the other two actors slipped the poison in on stage just before
15:41michael drank from it yeah rewind it a bit okay play could it be jez now the bottle is in
15:50view the
15:50whole time and he's not adding anything to it oh so michael's not the last person to drink from that
15:56bottle seb's right anya drinks after michael so even if something had been added by jez and he would
16:02have consumed it as well how how do they all drink the same liquid with with poison in it but
16:13only michael farrah
16:14dies
16:17who's sergeant fletcher on the phone to oh an actor's agent back in the uk we misspoke with the rest
16:23of the
16:23cast this morning a um casey briscoe who plays miranda she said she saw nathan burns a casting the
16:31victim just moments before the show even started i'm telling you this is all gonna come back on you
16:36and sooner than you think and there's rumors going around that there's history between them so casey
16:40slash miranda said we should speak to this agent did you get anything from the search
16:46nothing interesting how suspicious you know he's been homing this little tune i've never seen him do
16:55this before me neither inspector what's this funky tune you've been homing god i don't know it's been
17:04in my head since yesterday i can't shake it i can't place it wait a minute
17:24bingo it was an advert it was on the telly about five years ago they kept playing it
17:34see that's what i was humming and why is this relevant wait as a woman i've seen my fair share
17:44that's why and i know they can leave a pretty nasty pong but now i found whiffuster i can leave
17:50that's nathan burns the stage manager man he's like a better actor than all of the others put together
17:56nathan burns was an actor and he has history with our victim i just spoke to an agent in london
18:03who used
18:04to represent nathan she remembers him as being super ambitious the whiffbuster ad wasn't the end of his
18:10rainbow then the agent said about eight years ago nathan had a really important audition for the
18:16production of macbeth at the national theater in london and he didn't get it but guess who did
18:23michael farrow and more than that nathan went to the police at the time
18:29he was adamant that he was spiked before the audition
18:46so i get this big audition and i go down to london and stay in a cheap hotel near the
18:52theater
18:53michael staying in the same place me and him get chatting in the bar the night before what were
18:58you drinking just softs but michael insists on getting the last round i go to bed at 10. next
19:17what happened after that i never got another break like it did a bit of theater and education a couple
19:24of tv ads with buster yeah with buster
19:31then i quit so you tour with this guy for 10 months and it never comes up
19:41mr burns just before the last show you were seen arguing with michael saying
19:46it's all gonna come back on you and sooner than you think mate you're referring to him sabotaging
19:53your audition that's some revenge spiking his drink like he spiked yours i didn't kill michael
20:01because of what he did to me eight years ago still must have bothered you though right otherwise why
20:04bring it up what i just i couldn't stop myself i was never gonna see him again
20:16we'll be in touch
20:24there is definitely something he's not telling us you think
20:40rich
20:42the police have been asking questions i didn't tell them what he did to you but
20:50if there's heat on me again i don't think i can stay quiet any longer
20:57to thine own self be true hey
21:02oh delroy same again if you were okay no problem
21:16sir how come you know so much about shakespeare seems unlikely you know with you being a
21:23day of the match a match of the day kind of guy no disrespect when i was a kid
21:30i used to hang around outside the stage doors of western theaters yeah in case i saw someone famous
21:35yeah they meet vin diesel
21:37no i don't think vin diesel ever trod the boards of london
21:42anyway i got to know some of the staff and they would let me sneak in and watch whatever was
21:46on at the
21:47time so yeah i have seen my fair share of the board's works
21:54also i got talking to the actor sometimes and they would say how hard a gig it was you know
22:00the
22:00failed auditions the unemployment doing rubbish jobs just to make ends meet it was it was tough
22:06competitive as our first suspect found out well could it be that that pushed michael to do what
22:12he did to nathan but it also shows there's a dark side to our victim spiking someone's drink just so
22:17he can get the role he wanted that's ruthless well whatever it was that led someone to poison michael
22:23farrah well we still haven't got a scooby how we pulled it off i mean the man died on stage
22:28right
22:28in the middle of a performance drinking from the same bottle as these two but they didn't die he did
22:38do i wilson speaking yeah i can talk now okay
22:48yeah yeah i understand have you spoken to my brother about this he has right
22:58okay um well um thanks for letting me know
23:06so is everything all right
23:14i knew mum would leave everything to sovereign
23:18i just didn't think he'd put the house up for sale as soon as it was his
23:24i thought we'd at least chat about it first
23:28and what about your mother's things
23:31according to the solicitor is arranged for house clearance company to take everything and
23:35auction it all off
23:38it all seems so rushed to me
23:40of course it's going to feel well
23:42i would have liked at least a last look around the place
23:47maybe keep something of hers to remember her by
23:56then call your brother and tell him that's what you'd like to help him
24:01he's got to understand right
24:18hey you yes
24:21how can i help oh well actually i thought i could help you you know wind down after a hard
24:27day's
24:27police police in the streets
24:30got some beers picnic blanket and um yeah i thought we could find a quiet beach and
24:37get to know each other mr gorman yes did we not already have this conversation
24:43we did yes but i thought what was happening was you know you were on duty you had your
24:48colleagues around you and i think you were saying what you felt you had to say
24:53um no come on i'm not on this island for very long how often do you get to do this
24:59with someone
25:00like me let's just have some fun here we go here we go here we go hmm
25:07yes yes there you go
25:14cheers actually now that i think about it i did say that i was going to meet my friend
25:19what's the time now oh no you're spilling it you're spilling it oh what a shame i do have
25:25somewhere to be right now though
25:29do not bother me again unless it's related to the case mr gorman you understand good you enjoyed the
25:55the rest of your evening
25:58sergeant fletcher good morning where you got so i've been doing background checks on the other cast members
26:03and i noticed anya chambers and jez gorman were in the same play back in 2021 and they ended up
26:11getting together and wait for it they only got married a year later hang on i thought any was
26:17with michael she was she left jazz for him during the tour they've been on why did this not show
26:24up
26:25sooner because it wasn't officially registered yet they had a vow ceremony in the forest somewhere
26:30there was a whole midsummer night's dream thing going on yeah yeah you should have seen some of
26:35the photos they posted on social media that was some dress she wore respectfully of course so how did
26:41jez feel about being replaced by michael hmm well according to the other cast members really not so
26:47good seems to be the answer look i don't know who said that but it's nonsense so when annie told
26:58you
26:58she was leaving you for michael you weren't upset sorry why is she here is that normal procedure to
27:04bring a uniform sergeant along it is yep yes it is okay fine so it's nonsense is it that you
27:12were
27:12upset about anya yes i mean annie is the one who's losing out not me all our mutual friends are
27:18siding
27:18with me she's the one who's gonna have to move in with her parents when she gets back home not
27:22me
27:22i mean it hurts yeah of course it hurt really hurt but i didn't kill michael because of it i
27:29wasn't
27:30looking for revenge
27:33ah this is my agent so i should probably no
27:37you shouldn't okay she'll leave a voicemail this is a murder investigation mr gorman
27:43and your wife fell in love with the victim that's a very strong motive well that's what you're wrong
27:48actually they didn't fall in love i mean maybe she did i don't know but it wasn't reciprocated what
27:54makes you say that
27:58because he told me so
28:02a few nights before our final performance we all had a bit of a sesh at the hotel bar some
28:08of us went
28:09for a dip in the sea michael comes up to me and says he's gonna end it with anya because
28:14he's got some
28:15off-broadway play and she's not what he needs right now and did he end it with her yeah five
28:24minutes
28:25before the beginning of our final show talk about timing eh
28:38thank you
28:40anya's in room 352 that was seb the security team at the crime scene say somebody tried to break into
28:47the dressing room area last night guess a description is that something that we could have missed
28:53right you and officer else get down to the crime scene let's go and talk to anya
28:58yeah when's the deadline yes sir yeah i'm sure i can get something to put me on tape
29:06mikey and i had gone to collect rich from this bar he drinks in
29:11that was why we went up late so that was the technical pitch we literally had five minutes
29:17before the performance was about to start mr dempster come on let's get you dressed fight fight
29:24michael just blurts it out i can't do this anymore i'm going to new york
29:32i'm going alone you gave up your marriage for michael you risked everything
29:40it must have hurt then when he told you it was over between you two so no
29:49what was it that drew you to michael
29:52it felt like
29:54the kindred spirit it was something i'd never had with jess
29:59in what way mikey cared so much about his work but it terrified him he was just striving to be
30:08as
30:08good as he could and knowing it could all be torn down by a critic or the audience and that
30:15bum
30:15ability drew me to him because i feel it too in everything
30:22okay so in that moment when he told you'd finished with you you must have felt betrayed
30:29angry and within the oa he was dead what what you think i did it because of i remember how
30:39even
30:43you think i carry around around a bottle of cyanide with me just in case i get dumped
30:48and if you've forgotten i drank from the same bottle as him why would i do that if i knew
30:54there
30:54was poison in it
31:01you know my mom's church has this dirty thing going on and sometimes think about doing a bit
31:09to myself you know it's just the words sometimes i really struggle with words like um
31:22the winds did sing it to me and the thunder that deep and dreadful organ pipe pronounced the name
31:29of prosper it did base me trespass base me trespass i mean what does that even mean like base me
31:37trespass like a boombox type of base less of the base and more the searching sergeant fletcher
31:42you know commissioner afternoon afternoon afternoon sir might i have a word
31:53how is the investigation going we're making progress sir we've already got a few suspects in mind
32:00is everything all right sir a complaint has been made accusing you of unprofessional conduct
32:09by who yes gorman claims you tried to initiate a romantic relationship with him he said what and
32:18when he turned you down twice you pursued him as a suspect in the case that is just not true
32:27we interviewed him because there was evidence to suggest he had a motive and it was mr gorman who
32:35asked me out twice i swear to you sir he is making this all up i mean i would never
32:41do something like
32:42that sir you believe me right look sir ask officer rose he was there the first time mr gorman asked
32:51me out
32:52he will tell you he will tell you very well leave it with me
33:06exactly what am i looking for yes though cannot find a thing
33:17um
33:28sarge think i found something
33:32what is it
33:37it's a beach like a key
33:40with a few of them two minutes of the road
33:55whoa
33:59syringe
34:03well i'm assuming that's the cyanide
34:12it's in the throat bozenges you're right there mr dempster
34:23right mr dempster
34:26this lot has got your fingerprints all over it no one else's you care to explain
34:34it's thanks to michael farrah that i fell off the wagon
34:37sorry for this tour i've been sober 20 years what happened
34:43michael was offered this this this off broadway show was gonna get him some good publicity in the
34:48states well at the same time we had the chance of extending our tour by three months to south america
34:55and you didn't want to lose your caliber no and i mean michael was contractually obliged to stay
35:00if further dates were added i'll refuse to release him well we know michael was very ambitious so i
35:05assume he wasn't happy about that
35:08it's our first day off in the caribbean trinidad we all spent the day by the pool
35:15cheers
35:18thank you i didn't realize until it was too late
35:21oh dear boy
35:22putting shots of vodka in my soft drink all day
35:27once i got the taste for it well double um double whiskey please
35:3320 years without so much as a sip it all came crashing down
35:38nathan and dear anya they were first to realize i was back on the source
35:42took it in turns blessing them
35:45putting me to bed did you tell them what michael did
35:47yes i don't think anya believed me but but nathan did
35:52nathan yeah there is definitely something he's not telling us
35:56he said that michael had done something not dissimilar to him once despite his drink
36:03so that's what nathan was holding back
36:06when he confronted michael before the final show it wasn't just about his experience eight years ago
36:12i'm telling you this is all going to come back on you and sooner than you think mate it was
36:16also
36:17about what he'd been doing to you the irony of it is that funding fell through in the end tour
36:23was
36:23never extended michael got exactly what he wanted no i had the sense he usually did which brings us
36:30back to this little collection i think he poisoned one of these lozenges gave it to michael backstage
36:37then added poison to that wine bottle on stage after he died to misdirect us make us think that's
36:43what killed him i'm afraid my little plan wasn't quite so smart well and not so deadly bottle
36:51doesn't contain cyanide contains lysergic acid diathlamine
37:02lsd the hallucinogen objecting one of the lozenges but not with cyanide i don't want to kill him
37:09i just wanted him to feel how he made me feel all powerless
37:17well i wanted everyone to see it
37:21i would cover that i am i didn't go through with it
37:27and when michael collapsed on stage and we were called
37:31what was i panicked all your frenzy i ran to the beach lockers hit the evidence
37:37and say it was you our security sword trying to get into the dressing room
37:41to get that key did you tell anyone else about your plan
37:45i was so smashed half the time i might have left it lying around
37:51i don't know inspector
37:56just a moment
38:03i think he might be telling the truth we've re-watched the video and after michael collapses
38:10no one goes near the bottle he drank from
38:12and look jezgar man puts down the bottle here and no one touches it again until
38:19i do there so the poison was in the bottle all along nothing was added afterwards
38:26no sir
38:28so how come the other two that drank from the bottle didn't die and he did
38:42you've reached solomon leave a message i'll get back to you
38:47so it's me again can you call me back please
38:56so i just heard back from a few of jez and anya's friends in the uk
39:00trying to get a handle on their marriage breaking up
39:04right
39:06no one was shocked it seems jez wasn't the most faithful of husbands he saw it as a kind of
39:13open marriage
39:14right and what happens on tour stays on tour and after three years of marriage
39:19anya felt betrayed and humiliated just basically took her for granted
39:22but obviously never expected her to actually leave
39:26so when anya hooked up with michael that must have really thrown him
39:34still haven't heard from your brother
39:37you know what i think he's actually ignoring my calls i keep thinking about how things were
39:42between us you know when we last saw each other they weren't great in fact if i'm honest i kind
39:47of think it's because of me that we're going our separate ways then maybe you should go visit
39:52him in antiga you think yeah just go talk to him
39:57i'm heading to the lab you want me to drop you off at the shack
40:01uh no um take me to the high street please i need to get a bucket and spade
40:07as in uh as in a kitty's bucket and spade for for like the beach
40:12no what other kind of bucket and spade is there
40:15sir um is this for the case
40:18or are you having a break now probably both
40:30right well that's me done
40:38sarge you don't need to stress yourself over this jez garman complaint like you said the man's a total
40:44bozo and the commissioner will definitely see that car he can see through the lies
40:51you're not too sure about it
40:56there's something that you don't know about me
41:01from before i uh i came back to saint marie in jamaica i i messed up on a case big
41:12time and
41:14and saw my file and the commissioner knows about it so
41:21no no i'm not sure he's gonna have my back on this that's why you're transferred
41:32well i mean look
41:35i wouldn't be so sure about that search because one thing i know for a fact is that the commissioner
41:42wants to give everyone a chance because i mean he did with me best decision he ever made
41:57so
42:13Morning Sarge, Officer Rose.
42:16Say, yes Thomas, Sarge.
42:19Somebody's giving the inspector some hair.
42:22I never thought I'd see the day the man could have an afro.
42:25Whoever did this is making a bold statement.
42:39Morning Inspector, have you seen the poster?
42:43Someone's giving you a glow up.
42:45Yeah, I've seen it.
42:46Yeah, that really brings out your cheekbones Inspector, kind of suits you.
42:49Oh, and he's got his little kiddies buckets, and spades.
42:54Four of them, in fact.
42:57One bottle, one dose of poison.
43:04Three people drink the same liquid from the same bottle.
43:11Now how come only one of them ingest the poison and the other two don't?
43:14That's not possible.
43:16Why not?
43:17Well, they're sand in all of them, or poison, so how?
43:21How indeed, Sergeant Fletcher.
43:26Is that from the lab?
43:27Yes.
43:28Oh.
43:32Confirms the liquid in the bottle we found in Mr Dempster's cigar box was LSD.
43:40Not legal, but definitely not murder.
43:43Oh, sir, your buckets.
43:44Oh.
43:57The seas washed all the sand away.
44:02It's like I was never there.
44:08Hang on.
44:13The water made the sand disappear.
44:17Or did it actually disappear?
44:20I mean, what if it was there all along?
44:23I think you poisoned one of these lozenges and added poison to that wine bottle on stage
44:27after he died.
44:28No one goes near the bottle you drank from.
44:30As for the fiasco, fairly high glucose levels.
44:35And if that explains the bottle, then where did the poison come from?
44:41No, no.
44:42Very, very swift makeup costume change reappear as Caliban in Act 1 scene 2.
44:48And with my long nails, I'll defeat you.
44:52Eat those.
44:56You know who did it.
44:59And I think I know why.
45:01But what about the how, Inspector?
45:03I mean, that's what the whole biggie is about, right?
45:05I'm pretty sure I know the how as well.
45:07But, Officer Rose, I need you to run another talks report on Mr Farah.
45:10But I need a glass of water first.
45:12You're dehydrated.
45:13No, it's not a drink.
45:14It's just a little experiment that will finally prove what really happened on stage three days ago.
45:20One glass of water coming right up.
45:30Now, I don't want to talk ill of the dead.
45:33However, I think it's fair to say that Michael Farah was a selfish and self-interested individual who only cared
45:42about what he wanted in life and how he was going to get it.
45:45But did the malicious and hurtful things he did to each of you really mean he had to die?
45:55Anya, you obviously thought he did.
45:59Because it was you that poisoned him.
46:01What?
46:02What?
46:02No.
46:04I absolutely did not.
46:07The mystery we've been trying to solve throughout this case is how three people could drink from the same poisoned
46:17bottle, yet only one of them dies.
46:21We didn't know it, but the answer has been right in front of us from the start.
46:26And in a way, Mr Farah gave it to us in his dying breath.
46:32And with my long nails, I'll dig thee pig...
46:35And I, with my long nails, will dig thee pig nuts.
46:40Because that's the thing about Caliban.
46:42He was a monster, right?
46:44And as part of Michael's makeup to help make him look more monstery, his nails were painted.
46:52And that's how he was poisoned.
46:55We need to get this to the lab.
46:56But we've already had Michael's fingernails tested, and it was confirmed there were traces of cyanide in the dried varnish.
47:05It was administered, Anya, by you during his wardrobe change from the bosun into his Caliban costume, makeup, and painted
47:15fingernails.
47:18Nathan, you said Michael would get particularly nervous while waiting to go on stage for Act 2, Scene 2, yeah?
47:24A bit nervous.
47:25He would pace and bite his nails.
47:28Which after touring for 12 months together, and having become intimate with him, you also knew Anya.
47:36But I told you, Michael only ended things with me half an hour before he died.
47:42How could I plan his murder in that time?
47:44You're right.
47:46Michael's murder was planned in advance.
47:49But now we know the killer had to be you, then it follows that you'd already found out Michael was
47:54planning to end his relationship with you.
47:57You getting in?
47:59Yeah, maybe.
48:00And with Michael telling Jez as much.
48:02Look, I'm going to end things with Anya.
48:05I think you overheard that conversation.
48:07After everything, I thought you should know.
48:09And we believe that's when you decided to kill him.
48:13Then, if Michael's fingernails were poisoned, why was there poison in the bottle?
48:19That was to misdirect us.
48:21Right?
48:22To confuse us with the seeming impossibility that three people could drink from it, but only one die.
48:29Why weren't they all killed?
48:31I'm glad you asked me that, Mr Dempster.
48:33Because to answer that, we need to look to your own plan to get back at Michael Farrar.
48:37We know, Miss Chambers helped to put you to bed a number of times when you've overindulged.
48:44Nathan and De'Arania, they took it in turns.
48:47Bless him, but he needed a bed.
48:49And you admitted yourself, you left the cigar box containing the syringe, the lozenges.
48:55I might have left it lying around.
48:56And this little bottle lying around the place.
49:00We believe you came across this box, Miss Chambers.
49:04Okay, Rich, a sip of water.
49:09And that's when your plan started to take shape.
49:14But instead of using LSD, you used a fatal poison.
49:22Now, I have to admit, it didn't register with me at first, the significance.
49:27But when our lab tested the liquid in that poison bottle, the cherry juice...
49:33As for the fiasco...
49:35They found the level of glucose in it higher than normal.
49:40That's where this comes in.
49:43Just over an hour ago, I dropped one of Mr. Dempster's throat lozenges in this glass of water.
49:49And now, look.
49:52It's gone.
49:55Dissolved.
49:57And that's exactly what you did, Anya, with that wine bottle.
50:01Just before yourself, Jez and Michael went on that stage for Act Two, Scene Two.
50:06You see, as long as the lozenge was whole and hadn't dissolved...
50:11Jez!
50:12...it was safe to drink from.
50:15Which you all did.
50:18But by the time we arrived at the crime scene and sent the bottle to the lab to be tested...
50:23...the lozenge had already melted away, releasing the poison...
50:29...making it seem like it had been there all along.
50:34But why?
50:36Why did you kill him?
50:39Anya, when you and Michael got together, you were still feeling hurt...
50:46...and embarrassed by your husband's ongoing infidelities.
50:51...him taking you for granted.
50:54So for Michael, the kindred spirit that you'd risked everything for...
51:00...to humiliate you even further by finishing with you...
51:04...only a few months after getting together...
51:06...well, it more than hurt.
51:09And that's when you realised...
51:12...that perhaps the rumours you've heard about Michael, which you previously dismissed...
51:18...were actually true.
51:20...that Mr Dempster's claim that Michael spiked him...
51:24...actually happened.
51:27Did you tell them what Michael did?
51:28Yes, I don't think Anya believed me, but...
51:31...and that Nathan Burns' own past run-in with Mr Farrell was more than mere gossip.
51:36There's been gossip amongst the cast ideas, history between them.
51:39So you decided to do something that was long overdue.
51:43And on behalf of yourself...
51:45...and everyone else here whose life he'd ruined...
51:48...you would give Michael something he deserved.
51:52...to make him the one to finally suffer.
51:56His own downfall.
51:58His own humiliation.
52:00Right there on that stage.
52:02For all the world to see.
52:05And that, Miss Chambers...
52:07...is why you killed him.
52:17Anya Chambers.
52:18I'm arresting you for the murder of Michael Farrell.
52:22You do not have to say anything.
52:24But it may harm your defence...
52:26...if you do not mention when questioned...
52:30...something which you later rely on in court.
52:45You not see enough of yourself already?
52:47It's never enough.
52:50Return of the Bozo.
52:52Could we have a quick chat, please?
52:59I just want to let you know that I officially dropped...
53:01...my complaint this morning and...
53:04...and I wanted to say I'm sorry.
53:07You know you could have lost me in my jar...
53:10...just because I wouldn't have a drink with you?
53:13What kind of sick little messed up brain you have?
53:16Yeah, that's pretty much what your commissioner said.
53:18Wait, the commissioner?
53:19Yeah, he was the one who insisted I apologise...
53:22...and said he was going to charge me with wasting police time.
53:24...and he caught my agent.
53:26He's a pretty terrifying guy, actually.
53:29Oh, and there he is.
53:31OK.
53:32Well, look, I'd rather not have to deal with him again...
53:34...so I'm really sorry.
53:46Sir?
53:49He apologised.
53:51He did.
53:52Thank you, sir.
53:54I'm sorry I couldn't get him to drop his complaint sooner.
53:58The man was clearly...
54:00...making it all up.
54:03So you knew he was lying all along?
54:06Of course.
54:07But one has to follow procedure...
54:10...in situations like this.
54:13It's just...
54:15...I just...
54:17...I just thought you didn't believe me, sir.
54:20You know, after everything that happened before.
54:25You made a promise to me...
54:27...that there were going to be no more mistakes.
54:31And...
54:32...I tend to take people at their word.
54:35You're a good sergeant.
54:36I can see that.
54:38So...
54:38...keep it up.
55:02You're a good sergeant.
55:06I'll book a ticket to Antigua, and I'll go and see Seoul.
55:25Um, maybe make it best to three?
55:28Yeah.
55:31Another bullseye, and I'm definitely going to Antigua.
55:48I don't believe it.
55:54Well, that's that, then.
55:55I guess it's really happening.
56:02Yes, Thomas.
56:04I'm just letting you know I won't be coming in tomorrow.
56:08I'm actually taking your advice, as it goes.
56:10I'm going to see Seoul.
56:13Yeah?
56:14Well, I mean, I don't even know if he wants to see me, but...
56:19Hey, what's the worst that can happen?
56:34More water, please.
56:35I think it rather suits him.
56:38Yeah?
56:38That's the same thing I said, sir.
56:40Looks like I wanted a Jackson 5.
56:42And it is rather amusing, isn't it?
56:52Sir?
56:52Yes, Thomas?
56:53What is it?
56:54I think something has happened to the inspector.
57:16What the hell's going on?
57:23You.
57:24That's the...
57:29Yeah.
