00:00you are the main character in your home and the house is designed for you as that main character.
00:10So rule number one on colour, always be inspired by the earth. I think there is the tactility and
00:16kind of an earthiness that the earth comes with that I always look to for a lot of my projects.
00:22So always looking out in nature or for places that I've been to or just London. You could do
00:29the same for your home by collecting images and just being really curious as you move about your
00:35day-to-day life. So whether that's looking up or looking around or going to specific places or
00:41going to galleries or art, I think that just kind of being really aware and I think London is a
00:46great
00:47place to garner inspiration from because it's so beautiful and diverse and cultured. Rule number
00:55two, where possible, potentially work with local artisans or local makers within kind of the
01:01environment that you are doing your project in. So if it was a bedroom, I would probably try and source
01:08maybe like a local fabric holsterer or maker or a local woodwork person. Just something really
01:14interesting within the local environment to kind of add that touch to your space. I think it makes
01:19a very unique and interesting end result. We did a project in Battersea and my colleague had a book
01:27called My Colorful Home and one of the artists whose home was featured in the book, she lived in a
01:33really
01:34beautiful home in the area, ended up giving us an art piece for the Battersea project. That's a really
01:39nice story of how you can kind of involve the local community. Rule number three, try and infuse art into
01:45your space. I think that you can work with a range of budgets. Again, you can support local makers,
01:51makers and artists. Art is very subjective, but ultimately it's about the kind of narrative around
01:58the design of the space and kind of honouring that. And I also think it can really evoke emotion. So
02:04if it
02:05was a home, maybe you want something that's a bit more subtle on arrival, but then it dials up as
02:10you move
02:10into the bedrooms. I think art has a beautiful way of just adding a layer into any environment.
