00:00Trust your instinct, because it's usually right.
00:08Rule number one, don't make art the afterthought.
00:12The art is as important as your fabric colour scheme.
00:15It is what your eye is immediately drawn to.
00:18You don't necessarily have to spend a lot of money on art.
00:21You can frame the menu from your favourite restaurant.
00:24You can hang ceramics to add texture and colour.
00:27Really consider the art because it will really show that you have brought it through
00:31and use it as inspiration for your colour palette.
00:34Rule number two, the smallest details really matter.
00:38It might seem overwhelming when you're making a lot of other decisions,
00:41but the tiniest detail really does make a huge difference.
00:45Think about the grout in your tiles, the hinges on your doors,
00:49the door handles, the brackets on your shelves,
00:52the contrast piping on your cushions.
00:54All of these transform a room from good to exceptional.
00:57And rule number three, there really aren't any design rules.
01:01Trust your instinct, because it's usually right.
01:03The best interiors aren't designed for Instagram,
01:06they're designed for living.
01:08Just because everyone has painted their kitchen pink
01:10doesn't mean you have to too.
01:12Go with what you really want.
01:15A good designer is not to override your instinct,
01:18but to give you confidence to follow it through.
