Looking for a new game to play after Resident Evil Requiem?
Transcript
00:00You just finished Resident Evil Requiem and you've got the hankering for some more Japanese
00:03horror.
00:04Well, here are five of the best Japanese horror games.
00:06Rule of Rose.
00:07Taking place in an orphanage that's also an airship, Jennifer and Dog Brown are just trying
00:12to survive.
00:12Combat and exploration are clunky even for the genre, but the strange, surreal atmosphere
00:16is unmatched.
00:17Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly.
00:20Fatal Frame strikes a balance between feeling powerless and allowing you to fight back,
00:24and Fatal Frame 2 is the best of the bunch.
00:26As you snap photos of ghosts that hound you and solve puzzles using the camera obscura,
00:30there's rarely a moment you feel safe.
00:32Silent Hill 3.
00:33Any series entry could go in this list, but to me, Silent Hill 3 really is the one.
00:37Terrifying enemy designs, horrible situations where you always feel underpowered, and a twisty
00:42turny story that makes you feel disoriented in the best ways.
00:46Siren.
00:46Like the original Silent Hill, Siren is a nightmare that also revolves around a mysterious town,
00:51but the real lure is the sight-jacking mechanic, which lets you build a psychic network of
00:55perspectives, as you see through the eyes of the Shibito creatures that patrol the town.
00:59Parasite Eve.
01:00Filled with creepy B-movie-style horror science, a little like Resident Evil, it's a unique
01:05mix of ideas that feels like few games have managed to replicate since.
01:08Including, arguably, its own sequel.
01:10Though that's still a solid game.
