00:00All-time greats in John Cena and Randy Orton
00:05Combined 31 world titles, another 15 other championships, both have won Money in the Banks, both Royal Rumbles as well.
00:14But tonight, it is a rivalry reborn. For over two decades, two titans have defined era after era.
00:20John Cena defends his 17th championship against Randy Orton here in Orton's hometown of St. Louis.
00:25Can the Viper slay one more legend on his quest to regain the title, or will Cena's destructive farewell tour
00:31march on?
00:32Cena and Orton for the undisputed WWE Championship.
00:42Winner's right history.
00:45Cena is a 17-time world champion!
00:49When that hits zero, the title comes home with me!
00:58There is no one in the WWE with the strength, the wisdom, or the ruthless aggression.
01:08The last real champ is here.
01:16RKO! Out of nowhere!
01:21I have known you for 25 years.
01:26If you look at that class, OVW, back in 2002, we were looking at the future of WWE.
01:34Randy Orton and John Cena are amazing to watch rise together as a child.
01:55One of the youngest, most charismatic WWE superstars is going to ascend to greatness.
02:15He's done it!
02:17He's done it!
02:17The youngest 14th time world champion!
02:19World champion in history!
02:21John Cena is a champion!
02:2414th time world champion!
02:28Randy Orton versus John Cena has become the rivalry.
02:34What magic they made when they were in there together.
02:36Nothing comes close to them.
02:38Randy and John brought out the best in one another.
02:42Randy Orton and John Cena were on parallel roads.
02:45Both of those guys wanted the exact same thing.
02:48They must be the biggest star this business has ever seen.
03:05I am going to ruin wrestling for everyone.
03:10In this weird, bizarro world where I'm a good guy and you're a bad guy, I figured out you are
03:18the latest legend that I have to put down.
03:23Put that title on the line and fight me!
03:25Come on!
03:29Randy Orton versus John Cena.
03:32You're not going to ruin wrestling, not over my dead body.
03:35What I am trying to do, Randy Orton, is when I leave here, three generations of your family is erased.
03:47Why don't you say that to me after everything we've been through?
03:51How dare you?
03:57Randy Orton does not believe that John Cena is the last real champion.
04:10Randy Orton perfektion.
04:22Hey, Randy!
04:25He's ready!
04:26He's ready!
04:28He's ready!
04:28He's ready!
04:29He's ready to win, he's ready!
04:31He's ready!
04:32Kansas CONC Daenon!
04:34I have voices but I have
04:36got gas and resilience
04:38and I have got one
09:31I'm sorry.
09:42See you.
09:44Thanks.
09:48I'm sorry.
09:50I'm sorry.
09:51We'll see you next time.
10:48We'll see you next time.
11:00We'll see you next time.
11:46We'll see you next time.
12:02The following contest scheduled for one fall is for the undisputed WWE Championship.
12:46We'll see you next time.
12:46Randy Orton!
13:00And his opponent.
13:05He is the greatest of all time.
13:12The unseen 17.
13:17Here to grace St. Louis with his presence one final time.
13:25He is the last real champion.
13:32He is the champion.
14:30Ryan Pillman Memorial.
14:32And if this is the final time that these two ever meet, I can truly say that I've been honored
14:38and privileged to call many of these matches.
14:40And I'm sure in this match for the undisputed WWE Championship.
14:45That Randy Orton and John Cena will tear the house down once again.
14:52And we start off with a collar and elbow tie up.
14:54Wade the key for Randy Orton to win his 15th World Championship.
14:57Well, he needs to tap into that unadulterated hometown energy that is backing their boy here in St. Louis all
15:07the way to number 15.
15:09What about for John Cena, the record setting 17-time world champion?
15:14Well, John Cena needs to tap into that bitter, resentful side that we saw at WrestleMania.
15:20The one that led him all the way to victory over Cody Rhodes.
15:24The one that led him to that record 17-time world championship.
15:29John Cena, in a nutshell, needs to take every shortcut and every low road available to him this evening.
15:36You know, 17,000-plus tonight.
15:42You know, a lot has been made, of course, of the history that John Cena made at WrestleMania, 17th world
15:47title.
15:47Ric Flair, of course, now sits in second place with 16 world championships.
15:53Third on that list, tied for third, is this man Randy Orton in the Hall of Famer Triple H with
15:5914.
16:01Wade, an incredible feat.
16:05Well, I had a good chat with Randy Orton. We saw it on our pre-show.
16:10Randy Orton claims he's got at least 10 years left in his body.
16:13And if he makes this number 15, then 17 will become tantalizingly close.
16:19Oh, you know what? I was sort of expecting that.
16:22John Cena, obviously, with a cheap little slap.
16:25That was just to play mind games. He knew it wasn't gonna hurt Randy.
16:28Randy, who may be in the best shape of his life.
16:30And there was a poke in the eye there.
16:32Oh!
16:32A little payback.
16:33And official Chad Patton gonna let a little bit go here tonight, as well he should.
16:38And let me tell you, Cole, the difference at WrestleMania is that Cody Rhodes refused to take that low road
16:44with John Cena.
16:45He was too morally pure and it came back to bite him.
16:49Randy Orton historically has had no issue whatsoever in taking whatever low road is available.
16:55All bets are off now, and I like that for Randy Orton.
16:58And here's Cena now, back center of the ring.
17:00You know, for Randy Orton, I've said many, many times over the years, he has absolutely no absence of malice.
17:08He doesn't like anybody.
17:10And despite his growing popularity over the years, he's still the same old Randy Orton way.
17:15Yeah, the personality doesn't change.
17:17Sometimes they love him, sometimes they hate him, but innately inside Randy Orton,
17:21there are those sadistic voices turning him to the dark side.
17:26And that is a massive benefit to Orton tonight if he's gonna dethrone the so-called last real champ.
17:34He had a tremendous sit-down interview with Randy on the countdown show, Wade.
17:39Very open in a lot of the things that he talked about.
17:41Yeah, and I'll tell you right now, this is by far the most mature version of Randy Orton I have
17:45ever seen.
17:46He truly is, in 2025, the locker room leader that John Cena never was during his time on top.
17:55Well, I mean, you would know better than I would since you spent time in the locker room.
17:58But I'm not sure if I agree with that statement.
18:00I think many people would believe Cena was a locker room leader for much of his career.
18:04I completely dispute that.
18:06I think John Cena was about one man and one man only.
18:08And Randy actually echoed that in my interview with him throughout his career on top.
18:13John Cena put himself first and foremost, whereas somebody like Randy Orton is consistently giving back.
18:19This is also coming from the guy that headed up a group that tried to end John Cena's career.
18:23In fact, you had a match with Randy Orton at one point where John Cena was forced to be the
18:27referee in that match.
18:28Because of this whole silly Nexus situation you were involved in.
18:31There's nothing silly about the Nexus.
18:33I was a young guy trying to punch up and make a name for myself.
18:35That's all that was. You can't blame young guys taking shortcuts like that.
18:40But Randy Orton is a man who certainly doesn't need any shortcuts this evening.
18:45Physically built to perfection.
18:47And now John Cena has taken a stroll.
18:50You would have never seen this out of the old John Cena.
18:53Whatever happened to the hustle loyalty and the respect and the never give up attitude of this man.
18:58John Cena knows physically he cannot match the absolute best.
19:02So he has to take these shortcuts.
19:04And Randy Orton is saying hell no you ain't getting away that easy.
19:07Randy Orton is, he wants an opportunity at the championship.
19:12Of course he has to pin or submit John for that to happen.
19:15Interesting interview in Billboard magazine with Randy Orton.
19:19Among the subjects they talked about was the fact that, and here's Cena now in the clothesline.
19:23Was the fact that Randy finds himself in this unfamiliar position of getting cheered.
19:29When it always used to be Cena getting cheered when he faced Orton in the past.
19:32Yeah, it's unadulterated at this point.
19:34And let me tell you the entire locker room in WWE is completely united behind Randy Orton.
19:40This spiteful megalomaniac that 2025 John Cena has become.
19:46He does not own the history and the legacy of this company and that championship that he's currently in possession
19:53of.
19:54Or says he's gonna retire with it because he's the, quote, last real champion.
19:58Two, three, four, five, six.
20:03Still impressed with the shape that John's able to maintain with the schedule that he has.
20:10Dude, I can't lose a pound if I try.
20:14Physically incredible shape is John Cena.
20:17And he showed that he absolutely does not have that ring rust at WrestleMania 41.
20:225, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.
20:3817,000 plus in St. Louis in unison.
20:41Channing along with Randy's punches.
20:43Give him 20 more please, Randy Orton.
20:47And Cena now on jelly legs.
20:50Not a good place to be when you're in that kind of proximity to a man as dangerous as Randy
20:56Orton.
20:56Cover by Randy on Cena.
20:58And Cena kicks it, too.
21:00Randy knew he wasn't gonna pick up the win there.
21:01That was more psychological than anything else.
21:04Well, that's the methodical pacing that has made Randy Orton one of the absolute greatest of all time.
21:10And now that carving stomp being targeted across the frame of John Cena.
21:16I think we've named it the Orton stomp by now.
21:20I'm old school, pal.
21:21And you mentioned this, Wade, in the countdown show, and I thought it was really interesting,
21:24the methodical style of Randy Orton.
21:26That's the style that Cena worked against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania.
21:28And it really helped John in that matchup.
21:31But now he's in the match against a guy like Orton, who does the same thing.
21:33Yeah, you're absolutely right.
21:35So Cody Rhodes is a much faster-paced superstar than John Cena having to beat at WrestleMania 41.
21:41Cody was baited into that.
21:43If Cena wants to take things slow tonight, that entirely plays into the wheelhouse of the Viper Randy Orton,
21:49who looks a different class to the champ this evening.
21:51Boom!
21:53Randy with a knee to the face of Cena, and a kick out.
21:57And let's not forget, I mean, let alone the fact that his dad is a cowboy Bob Orton,
22:02we mentioned 40 years ago this weekend, the big match with Hulk Hogan at Saturday night's main event.
22:07But, you know, he also learned the trade and all the tricks in the book from not only Triple H,
22:13but the nature boy, the dirtiest player in the history of the sport as part of evolution.
22:19Well, we talked about that low road.
22:21No finer tutors in history to give you a roadmap on how to excel on that low road.
22:29And dropped the hammer at the right time against John Cena,
22:32who certainly is not gonna give up easily in this one.
22:35Yeah, Cena looking for a sleeper now on Orton, got him caught center of the ring.
22:38Not sure if John has it all, and now he might.
22:40John putting his entire pressure on the body of Randy.
22:44Randy's massive frame, able to hold John up at least momentarily,
22:47but John trying to wrestle him down to the mat.
22:49Yeah, we saw that montage of the history between these two.
22:52You can see from the frame alone how much the physique of Randy has changed over the years.
22:56Once upon a time, he made well have collapsed when John Cena was on his back.
23:00Not here.
23:01Uh-oh.
23:03Yeah, the Viper wrapping himself around John Cena.
23:07More like a chin lock applied here.
23:11Wrestling John down to the mat now to one knee.
23:13Randy done a hell of a job of keeping his ego and his anger intact so far.
23:18Ooh, now John turns it around into a sleeper of his own.
23:20Now remember, this is Cena's first title defense since he won the championship at WrestleMania.
23:25He's not had a match since then.
23:26Randy Orton now locks up John again.
23:30And now John into one of his own.
23:33Well, these two know each other so, so well.
23:37Back suplex.
23:38And that back suplex brings both men down in the center of the ring.
23:41Again, senior official Chad Patton working this match tonight.
23:46It's gonna be incredibly difficult for either one of these two to catch the other by surprise this evening.
23:51You know, Wade, we talked earlier.
23:53No one ever thought that someone would knock off the 16-time world championship record held by Flair.
24:01Cena did it.
24:02Now people are talking about the fact that nobody's ever gonna get to 17.
24:05But if Orton's talking about hanging around another 10 years, he may do that.
24:09Yeah, it's only Randy Orton who's in with any form of chance right now, that's for sure.
24:14Shoulder tackle now by Cena. Orton goes down again.
24:16And John, and there's that spin slam by Cena.
24:21And John Cena's got Orton where he wants him.
24:24Will he give the fans what they want?
24:26Muscle memory for Cena.
24:28And hats off to Cena, not even breathing heavy.
24:37Mockingly.
24:40And now John with the five knuckles shuffle across the forehead of Orton.
24:45Well, he's a knob.
24:46But he's absolutely capable of tapping into that historical bust.
24:51And here we go, Cole.
24:52Cena looking for an AA in Orton who's able to slip out from behind.
24:55Randy now in the clothesline.
24:57And now Orton, something to pick up the pace.
24:59It is May.
25:00It is the final number of months of John Cena's legendary career.
25:06He wants to retire as champion.
25:08Orton has something to say about it tonight.
25:10They talk about tapping into historical bust.
25:14Randy Orton doing what he does like nobody else.
25:17And Cena's in trouble here.
25:19He's been in this position before.
25:22It's a draping DDT, but, oh, Cena, great move.
25:26Cena pulling up Orton here.
25:28And again, these guys know each other so well, Wade.
25:30And now Cena looking for the SPFU.
25:34Randy blocking it so, so well.
25:36Keep those hands where they are, Randy.
25:38John trying to lock it in, but Randy Orton able to block at least momentarily.
25:43John's able to slip it in there, though.
25:45He doesn't have all of it as Orton now tries to drag John to the ropes.
25:48Yeah, Cena desperately trying to re-impact and stretch that spine of Randy Orton.
25:54But Randy perhaps at this point at least too powerful to allow him to do so.
25:58And John Cena realizing that, looks to grab it and drag.
26:02Orton back toward the middle of the ring.
26:04Randy creates some space.
26:06He's got it.
26:06Stay away from the heaviest hitters.
26:08And here we go again.
26:09Take two.
26:09It is time now.
26:10Vintage!
26:11Randy Orton with a draping DDT.
26:14And I think Randy, as he recuperates, may start hearing some voices.
26:22Well, tasted that DDT many times from Randy Orton.
26:26And things never went well in the aftermath.
26:30Randy shrugging off some pain in that lower back from that STF attempt.
26:43The Viper is coiled.
26:46The Viper is ready to strike.
26:53Went for the RKO.
26:54Cena blocked.
26:55Cena now with Randy up on his shoulders.
27:00Attitude adjustment, wait a minute.
27:07Both men down.
27:12Okay.
27:14Well, massive.
27:15Figure this out.
27:15Massive amount of effort there from John Cena.
27:18And look at this.
27:18Right there.
27:19We missed it.
27:20Yes.
27:20Cena went for the AA.
27:22Randy went for the RKO.
27:24And both men took each other out.
27:26Just shows you how lightning fast the reactions of Randy Orton are in real time.
27:32We were oblivious to it.
27:33But Chet the slow-mo, my God.
27:35Yeah.
27:36Keeping himself in the match.
27:37Yeah, incredible.
27:37Cena delivering an AA while Randy countered at the same time of the RKO.
27:42And...
27:43Well, Cena smelled victory there.
27:46But taking it away at the death is the unrepentant Viper.
27:52It's amazing.
27:53And so many years of watching these two do battle.
27:56And just each and every time.
27:57And just so blessed to be out here, Wade.
28:00To watch these two all-time greats go at each other.
28:02Two most iconic professional wrestlers of this millennium.
28:08And you've shared the ring with both of them.
28:09That's incredible.
28:10Oh!
28:10Yeah, and I rarely had any form of success.
28:13But by John.
28:14Either 1A and 1B.
28:17Now Randy Orton fires back.
28:25And a big uppercut by Randy.
28:28I tell you, 17,000 plus have been invested.
28:31And not only-
28:32Oh, wait a minute!
28:33AA!
28:34AA by Cena!
28:35To retain!
28:36On Orton!
28:37Cover!
28:37Kick out by Randy!
28:39Well, that time Randy Orton just had no answer.
28:43You had to think he was rocked by those massive shots from John Cena.
28:49Randy Orton having to dig deep to protect the legacy of not only his family, but his entire industry.
28:55I was gonna say, 17,000 invested in every move in this match tonight.
29:00In fact, they've been invested in every move of every match tonight.
29:03And what has been an incredible show.
29:06Let's go Cena!
29:10Let's go Cena!
29:12Let's go Cena!
29:13Let's go Cena!
29:14Let's go Cena!
29:16Let's go Cena!
29:17Let's go Cena!
29:18Let's go Cena!
29:18We've had three title retentions so far tonight.
29:21Cena trying to make it four.
29:24And now Randy Orton up on his shoulders again able to use those long arms to hang on to the
29:29top rope.
29:30And the momentum now.
29:32This is wildly seen off the ropes again.
29:34There's another shoulder tackle to Randy.
29:36Randy, RKO!
29:38Out of nowhere!
29:39Come on, Randy!
29:40Looking for the pin here!
29:42And John Cena rolling out of harm's way.
29:45Randy could not capitalize.
29:47Oh, my God, John Cena picking up the pace on this one.
29:50Randy Orton with a desperation throw at the RKO.
29:54So much has been taken out of Orton,
29:56and he may have got a stinger at some point.
29:59Trying to get some feeling back in the hands.
30:01Grabbing the neck, look at his RKO, so instinctive.
30:04Well, Randy's had-
30:05Precision.
30:06And weight, he's had neck issues, back issues, shoulder issues his entire career.
30:1025 years at the top, taking on guys like John Cena will do that to your frame.
30:15Both of these men racked with countless injuries over the years.
30:19It's astounding they can still do this at the very top level.
30:22It's been nearly eight and a half years.
30:24Oh, wait a minute.
30:25The legend killer wants to be the goat killer.
30:29Went for the punt.
30:30John Cena able to counter into another AA to retain.
30:35Hook of the leg.
30:37Orton kicks out.
30:39Wow.
30:40Well, Randy Orton did promise us a couple of weeks ago.
30:43He was going to connect with a punt to the skull of John Cena.
30:47But that excitement over committed.
30:50Turned his back briefly.
30:51And Cena was ready to bounce.
30:53But he will do it somehow still, Randy Orton.
30:58And I'm looking over at Orton in the ring.
30:59He's keep wiggling those fingers.
31:01I don't know how much feeling is left in there.
31:03Big fight atmosphere.
31:0517,000 plus sold out St. Louis tonight.
31:08Our main event at Backlash.
31:10Cena, Orton, once again.
31:12Perhaps the final time for the undisputed WWE Championship.
31:17And now, John Cena mocking Randy Orton.
31:25Big smile on his face off the reaction of the WWE fans in Orton's hometown.
31:33And now, John Cena may be lining up for a punt of his own.
31:36Randy Orton moves out of harm's way.
31:39Randy now went for an RKO to part and shoved into the official.
31:42I'm not sure that was an inadvertent, but didn't invert by Cena.
31:46But nonetheless, the official Chad Patton's down.
31:49Yeah, that was a heavy landing for Chad Patton.
31:52And now with Chad down, Cena with a third AA delivered to Randy.
31:55But John is very well aware there's no official right now.
31:58Yeah, how many times do you see people dive on a pin in that situation?
32:01That is 25 years of experience of John Cena.
32:04Knowing full well he's on a hiding to nothing.
32:07But with the referee down, what the-
32:10You know, John is staring down at the title.
32:13Remember what happened at WrestleMania when Cody Rhodes wouldn't pull the trigger,
32:18wouldn't use the championship.
32:20Well, you can go as low as you want at this point.
32:24You can't see me.
32:26Referee can't see-
32:27Why?
32:27Why?
32:28Why?
32:30That was the answer, history.
32:32I mean-
32:33You've already made history, John.
32:35Yeah, you made history, you didn't have to act like this.
32:37Well, he's trying to own history, that's the point.
32:39That's why he wants to retire with that championship and with the referee down.
32:43Randy-
32:43Oh, KO out of nowhere by Orton.
32:46But again, there's no official.
32:47But the Viper is struck.
32:49Cover on John.
32:51One, two, three, four.
32:54And Chad just came too, but not enough.
32:57And Cena kicks out.
33:01Randy Orton knew that was his opportunity.
33:04And Cena is now reeling.
33:07Well, what a rollercoaster.
33:1060 seconds this was.
33:12Swinging back and forth.
33:14Both men looking to be closing in on the win.
33:21Randy's in a bad way, but I think John Cena is even worse off at this point.
33:25Oh, Chad Patton, I'm not even sure he can breathe.
33:39Oh, boy, get the hell out of the way, Wade.
33:44You don't have to tell me twice.
33:47Oh, God, you remember that pent-up rage that was supposed to be targeted at Kevin Owens?
33:52He didn't just dissipate.
33:54It's remained, and it's been refocused on John Cena.
33:57What are you talking about?
33:58This man's had pent-up rage for 25 years.
34:04Randy Orton is, uh, get out.
34:06Oh, God.
34:07Oh, Cena now, John.
34:08Oh, man.
34:09Patton went head first.
34:10Somebody get a doctor over here.
34:12Chad went head first into the steps.
34:14Yeah, Chad Patton's done.
34:15And now John Cena sending Randy Orton off the ring post.
34:18Well, the referee, Chad Patton, was trying to play with Randy Orton.
34:21Speak some sense.
34:23Get him back in the ring.
34:24And that was the moment John Cena capitalized and got straight back into this.
34:29And again, I got to admit something here, Wade.
34:31John has been just a step quicker tonight to beat Randy Orton to the punch.
34:36He's got that look on his face that he's loved every second of it so far.
34:40He's trying to embarrass and humiliate Randy Orton in his hometown.
34:44Well, he's going to do that if he puts him through this table here.
34:48Just the scowl and the disgusting look on the face of, the disgusted look, I should say, on the face
34:54of Cena.
34:55And now John, with Randy Orton up top.
35:00Focusing on the announce table now.
35:03Randy Orton, no.
35:04He's got John up on his own.
35:05And Randy Orton now.
35:07Look at this.
35:08Randy with an A-A to Cena on top of the table.
35:13Orton with an A-A delivering to Cena.
35:17The Viper Strikes.
35:27John Cena bouncing off the table.
35:31Spine first off this reinforced steel table.
35:34And Randy's talking to himself now.
35:36And that's never a good thing.
35:37You might want to get back, Cole.
35:39You've already dodged danger once this evening.
35:41What the hell do you want me to go?
35:48Randy now just dragging John Cena up.
35:51Talking some trash as he's doing it.
35:53And amidst this carnage, referee Chad Patton is down.
35:59And I assure you, out.
36:00He's not coming back here.
36:02Well, somebody better check on Chad.
36:05He's out.
36:06We need another official down here.
36:08Randy's beating the hell out of Cena.
36:10And I don't think he's done yet.
36:13Got a lot of walking wounded.
36:14Our medical staff are focused on a lot of the bodies that have been beaten up this evening.
36:21And things are about to get even worse.
36:25Judging by the actions of Randy Orton.
36:28Who has found something he likes to look at.
36:31And the fans do as well.
36:43Randy Orton, he's setting up a table, Wade.
36:46Randy Orton is now setting up a table.
36:49I mean, he's already put John into one and through one.
36:53And now he's got the hood of our announce table that he's tossed it out of harm's way.
36:58And he's going to drag John Cena now.
37:00Morality goes out of the window.
37:02Referee's down.
37:03Take your chance.
37:04Make this a street fight.
37:08Now John fighting back.
37:10Bouncing Randy off the steel steps here.
37:15Cena.
37:16Randy fighting back.
37:19Randy.
37:23Randy.
37:24Morality through a table.
37:27Randy Orton using John's offense against him.
37:40Well, a brief pause from Randy Orton after the amount of energy he's exerted this evening.
37:47You can't blame him.
37:48But John Cena looks banter right to this point.
37:52Two tables he's been through.
37:54But, Wade, there's a serious problem here.
37:56We don't have an official.
37:58This has turned into an all-out street fight.
38:00An absolute brawl.
38:02Referee Chad Patton's been down for a number of minutes.
38:05He went head first into the steel steps.
38:07Well, we need a contingency plan because this match is continuing.
38:11Well, maybe general manager Pierce should figure out sending another official down here.
38:14It is awesome, guys, but Randy's not going to have a chance to win things if there's nobody to count.
38:22Well, a tactic at that point through unlimited damage.
38:28Until a referee finally shows up.
38:31There's nothing stopping you.
38:33Guarantee victory.
38:34And Randy Orton now is coiled and ready to strike John Cena.
38:37Trying to come to now.
38:39Trying to make it back to his feet.
38:41Orton is primed and ready.
38:43Randy Orton now.
38:44Arpaio to Cena.
38:46Ball head to canvas.
38:48Cover, wait a minute.
38:49Look who's coming.
38:50Look who's coming.
38:51Official Eddie Orango into the ring.
38:53Cena kicks it too.
38:55Not quite quick enough for Randy Orton.
38:57But we've got another official in the ring.
39:00Well, the frustration is palpable inside this arena.
39:05The hometown boy had it won.
39:07But somehow, I'll give all the credit in the world.
39:11After going through two tables and tasting an RKO, John Cena refuses to die.
39:26And now, as Randy talks to the official, John Cena is stalking him from behind.
39:32Oh, the championship bounced off the face.
39:35RKO.
39:36The official's down again.
39:38Randy Orton's got the damn championship one.
39:41Again.
39:42And again, there's no official.
39:49And now, General Manager Nick Aldis from SmackDown.
39:52And a bunch of officials heading down to the ring.
39:55Trying to get the official Eddie Orango to come to.
39:58I'll tell you right now.
39:59I've seen many championship shots to the cranium in my time.
40:04That was about as hard a hit as I have ever seen.
40:07I'm not surprised as this was focused on the referee who's down.
40:11And Randy, of course, frustrated.
40:13He had this one.
40:14Of course he did.
40:15Now he's yelling at Aldis, the general manager.
40:19Get another referee, Nick.
40:22There ain't many left.
40:25I'll have to see him.
40:26Two carcasses of referees who complain nobody else would want it to run down.
40:31Get some...
40:31Oh.
40:32RKO to Aldis.
40:33That'll be a fine.
40:34Another RKO.
40:37It's an RKO party in St. Louis.
40:40A frustrated RKO with RKO after RKO.
40:45There are bodies everywhere.
40:49Carnage at the hands of a completely out of his mind, Randy Orton.
40:55Bodies everywhere.
40:56And now voices ringing in the ears of the sadistic psychopath.
41:06And who can blame Randy Orton for losing his rank at this point?
41:10He had the title won in a number of times in this match.
41:13John Cena is defenseless in the corner.
41:17Randy Orton is backing up into position.
41:19He tried to do this earlier tonight.
41:21I mentioned the legend killer.
41:23For many years, Clinton Legends.
41:27One final legend to kill.
41:33What the hell are you doing, Truth?
41:36R-Truth coming to the aid of his longtime RKO.
41:43Truth, a longtime fan of Cena's, coming out here to defend John.
41:49Whoa, whoa!
41:50That's R-Truth's fault.
41:54No, I mean...
41:55R-Truth lives in an alternative reality.
41:58He did come out here, because he's a fan of John's.
42:01But the problem now, off the low blow, Cena has the championship gold in hand again.
42:07Right off the skull of Orton.
42:09He gets rid of the evidence.
42:10Into the cover.
42:12Again, no official, but coming to and dragging himself into the ring is Chad Patton.
42:17Patton's back into the ring.
42:19The cover now by Cena.
42:20Randy Orton is down and out.
42:22And John Cena retains the damn championship.
42:28Here is your winner, and still, the undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena.
42:45Yeah!
42:46Now, I don't even know what to say anymore, except the fact that the old John Cena never, in a
42:52million years, would have taken a victory like that.
42:56Well, this is the most...
42:57Which is what made him special, Wade.
42:59That is what made John Cena special.
43:01Well, you're a reformed fanboy like a lot of people at this point, but this is the most desperate, soulless
43:07John Cena we have ever seen.
43:10But crucially, that's irrelevant right now.
43:12What is relevant is that John Cena is still the champ.
43:18Well, he wants to retire the title, the last real champion in his mind, and, I mean...
43:27Well, this was the second referee who got fouled, Eddie Orango Championship, shot to the skull, connected with a flush
43:35RKO, and Randy had this one.
43:37This was the moment.
43:38This place should have come unglued, and Randy should have been the 15th time world champion.
43:44Well, Randy's gonna suffer a lot of fines after the carnage he left, as his, uh, uh, frustration just...
43:52It's an RKO party.
43:54Anyone in reasonable range took one.
43:58Our producers, our executives, Jamie Noble face first, bouncing off the mat.
44:04And this was when Randy Orton lined up the punts, and it should have been executed.
44:09That was the kill shot.
44:10Oh, R-Truth out here, uh, to save his long time, uh, uh, oh, buddy, I guess.
44:16Always a fan of Cena.
44:18And then, of course, with the officials still out, that was delivered below low weight, and then it was just
44:22a...
44:22Well, that distraction from R-Truth opened the window for John Cena to do the dastardly, take it as low
44:29as you want.
44:30And Randy Orton, at this point, with that championship shot, he's out completely cold.
44:35You hope beyond hope there would be some way he could kick out of this.
44:40You know what?
44:41But the three count was in.
44:44You know what makes me so angry about all this is the fact that that was a great match.
44:50John put on a hell of a show.
44:51I know you can't see me, but can you hear me?
44:53Cut the damn music!
45:05I don't need music.
45:13I don't need music.
45:15What I need is competition.
45:20And I sure as hell don't need you.
45:28Drink it in, St. Louis, because this is what the last real champion looks like.
45:41I don't need music.
45:52I don't need music.
45:56I don't need music.
45:58You know, thank you.
