07:01I still get goosebumps every time these two men grace the ring.
08:11Introducing first, the challenger from St. Louis, Missouri.
08:25Weighing at 280 pounds, the Viper, Randy Orton.
08:40And his opponent, he is the greatest of all time.
09:02The Unseen 17, here to grace St. Louis with his presence one final time.
09:14He is the last real champion, Giancina.
09:27Alicia Taylor giving us that big fight feel here tonight.
09:36It was August 9th of 2001.
09:43Randy Orton and John Cena met for the very first time in a one-on-one match at an independent show called the Brian Pillman Memorial.
09:51Back before they were a part of WWE.
09:55They would meet for the first time in OVW, Ohio Valley Wrestling, back in 2002.
10:02They would go on to meet many times over the years in matches that have branched from SummerSlam to WrestleMania to triple threats to high quits to tables, ladders, and chairs into a 60-minute Ironman match.
10:17They are dead even when it comes to wins and losses.
10:20And if this is the final time that these two ever meet, I can truly say that I've been honored and privileged to call many of these matches.
10:29And I'm sure in this match for the undisputed WWE Championship that Randy Orton and John Cena will tear the house down once again.
10:38And we start off with a collar and elbow tie-up.
10:43Wade, the key for Randy Orton to win his 15th World Championship.
10:46Well, he needs to tap into that unadulterated hometown energy that is backing their boy here in St. Louis all the way to number 15.
10:58What about for John Cena, the record-setting 17-time World Champion?
11:02Well, John Cena needs to tap into that bitter, resentful side that we saw at WrestleMania, the one that led him all the way to victory over Cody Rhodes, the one that led him to that record 17-time World Championship.
11:18John Cena, in a nutshell, needs to take every shortcut and every low road available to him this evening.
11:24You know, 17,000-plus tonight.
11:30You know, a lot has been made, of course, of the history that John Cena made at WrestleMania, 17th World Title.
11:36Ric Flair, of course, now sits in second place with 16 World Championships.
11:42Third on that list.
11:44Tied for third is this man, Randy Orton, in the Hall of Famer Triple H with 14, Wade.
11:52An incredible feat.
11:54Well, and a good chat with Randy Orton.
11:57And we saw it on our pre-show, Randy Orton claims he's got at least 10 years left in his body.
12:02And if he makes this number 15, then 17 will become tantalizingly close.
12:07You know what?
12:08I was sort of expecting that.
12:10John Cena, obviously, with his cheap little slap.
12:13That was just to play mind games.
12:15He knew it wasn't going to hurt Randy.
12:17Randy, who may be in the best shape of his life.
12:19He goes a poke in the eye.
12:20And official Chad Patton going to let a little bit go here tonight, as well he should.
12:27And let me tell you, Cole, the difference at WrestleMania is that Cody Rhodes refused to take that low road with John Cena.
12:34He was too morally pure, and it came back to bite him.
12:37Randy Orton historically has had no issue whatsoever in taking whatever low road is available.
12:43All bets are off now, and I like that for Randy Orton.
12:47And here's Cena now, back center of the ring.
12:49You know, for Randy Orton, I've said many, many times over the years, he has absolutely no absence of malice.
12:56He doesn't like anybody.
12:59And despite his growing popularity over the years, he's still the same old Randy Orton, Wade.
13:03Yeah, the personality doesn't change.
13:05Sometimes they love him, sometimes they hate him.
13:08But innately inside Randy Orton, there are those sadistic voices turning him to the dark side.
13:15And that is a massive benefit to Orton tonight, if he's gonna dethrone the so-called last real champ.
13:23He had a tremendous sit-down interview with Randy on the Countdown Show, Wade.
13:27He's very open in a lot of the things that he talked about.
13:30Yeah, and I'll tell you right now, this is by far the most mature version of Randy Orton I have ever seen.
13:35He truly is, in 2025, the locker room leader that John Cena never was during his time on top.
13:44Well, I mean, you would know better than I would, since you spent time in the locker room.
13:47But I'm not sure if I agree with that statement.
13:49I think many people would believe Cena was a locker room leader for much of his career.
13:53I completely dispute that.
13:54I think John Cena was about one man and one man only.
13:57And Randy actually echoed that in my interview with him throughout his career on top.
14:01John Cena put himself first and foremost, whereas somebody like Randy Orton is consistently giving back.
14:07This is also coming from the guy that headed up a group that tried to end John Cena's career.
14:11In fact, you had a match with Randy Orton at one point where John Cena was forced to be the referee in that match
14:17because of this whole silly Nexus situation you were involved in.
14:20There's nothing silly about the Nexus.
14:21I was a young guy trying to punch up and make a name for myself.
14:24That's all that was.
14:25You can't blame young guys taking shortcuts like that.
14:29But Randy Orton is a man who certainly doesn't need any shortcuts this evening.
14:34Physically built to perfection.
14:35And now John Cena has taken a stroll.
14:39You would have never seen this out of the old John Cena.
14:41Whatever happened to the hustle loyalty and the respect and the never give up attitude of this man.
14:47John Cena knows physically he cannot match the absolute best.
14:50So he has to take these shortcuts on Randy Orton who's saying, hell no, you ain't getting away that easy.
14:57And Randy Orton is, he wants an opportunity at the championship.
15:01Of course, he has to pin or submit John for that to happen.
15:03Interesting interview in Billboard magazine with Randy Orton.
15:07Among the subjects they talked about was the fact that, and here's Cena now in the clothesline,
15:12was the fact that Randy finds himself in this unfamiliar position of getting cheered.
15:17When it always used to be Cena getting cheered when he faced Orton in the past.
15:20Yeah, it's unadulterated at this point.
15:22And let me tell you, the entire locker room in WWE is completely united behind Randy Orton.
15:29This spiteful megalomaniac that 2025 John Cena has become.
15:35He does not own the history and the legacy of this company and that championship that he's currently in possession of.
15:42Well, since he's gonna retire with it, because he's the, quote, last real champion.
15:47Three, four, five, six, seven.
15:52Still impressed with the shape that John's able to maintain with the schedule that he has.
15:59Dude, I can't lose a pound if I try.
16:02Physically incredible shape is John Cena.
16:06And he showed that he absolutely does not have that ring rust at WrestleMania 41.
16:11Five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 18, 14, 18, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20.
16:2617,000 plus in St. Louis in unison.
16:30Chanting along with Randy's punches.
16:32Give him 20 more, please, Randy Orton.
16:35Cena now on jelly legs.
16:37Not a good place to be when you're in that kind of proximity to a man as dangerous as Randy Orton.
16:45Cover by Randy on Cena.
16:47And Cena kicks it, too.
16:48Randy knew he wasn't gonna pick up the win there.
16:50That was more psychological than anything else.
16:53Well, that's the methodical pacing that has made Randy Orton one of the absolute greatest of all time.
16:59And now that Garvin stomp being targeted across the frame of John Cena.
17:05I think we've named it the Orton stomp by now.
17:08I'm old school, pal.
17:10You mentioned this, Wade, in the countdown, Sean.
17:11I thought it was really interesting, the methodical style of Randy Orton.
17:14That's the style that Cena worked against Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania.
17:17And it really helped John in that matchup.
17:19But now he's in the match against a guy like Orton, who does the same thing.
17:22Yeah, you're absolutely right.
17:23So Cody Rhodes is a much faster-paced superstar than John Cena having to beat at WrestleMania 41.
17:30Cody was baited into that.
17:32If Cena wants to take things slow tonight, that entirely plays into the wheelhouse of the viper,
17:37Randy Orton, who looks a different class for the champ this evening.
17:40Boom!
17:41Randy with a knee to the face of Cena and a kick out.
17:45Let's not forget, I mean, let alone the fact that his dad is a cowboy Bob Orton we mentioned 40 years ago this weekend,
17:53the big match with Hulk Hogan at Saturday night's main event.
17:56But, you know, he also learned the trade and all the tricks in the book from not only Triple H,
18:02but the nature boy, the dirtiest player in the history of the sport as part of evolution.
18:07And we talked about that low road, no finer tutors in history to give you a road map on how to excel on that low road
18:16and drop the hammer at the right time against John Cena, who certainly is not going to give up easily in this one.
18:24Yeah, Cena looking for a sleeper now on Orton.
18:25Got him caught center of the ring.
18:26Not sure if John has it all.
18:27And now he might.
18:29John putting his entire pressure on the body of Randy.
18:32Randy's massive frame, able to hold John up at least momentarily,
18:36but John trying to wrestle him down to the mat.
18:37Yeah, we saw that montage of the history between these two.
18:40You can see from the frame alone how much the physique of Randy has changed over the years.
18:45Once upon a time, he may well have collapsed when John Cena was on his back.
18:49Not here.
18:50Uh-oh, now we're going to catch him.
18:51Way stronger.
18:52Yeah, the Viper wrapping himself around John Cena.
18:56More like a chin lock applied here.
18:59Wrestling John down to the mat now to one knee.
19:02Randy's done a hell of a job of keeping his ego and his anger intact.
19:06So far.
19:06Ooh, now John turns it around into a sleeper of his own.
19:09Now remember, this has seen his first title defense since he won the championship at
19:13WrestleMania.
19:13He's not had a match since then.
19:15Randy Orton now locks up John again.
19:17And now John into one of his own.
19:22Well, these two know each other so, so well.
19:25Back suplex.
19:26And that back suplex brings both men down in the center of the ring.
19:30Again, senior official Chad Patton working this match tonight.
19:34It's gonna be incredibly difficult for either one of these two to catch the other by surprise
19:39this evening.
19:40You know, Wade, we talked earlier.
19:42No one ever thought that someone would knock off the 16-time world championship record held
19:48by Flair.
19:49Cena did it.
19:50Now people are talking about the fact that nobody's ever gonna get to 17.
19:54But if Orton's talking about hanging around another 10 years, he may do that.
19:57Yeah, it's only Randy Orton who's in with any form of chance right now, that's for sure.
20:03Shoulder tackle now by Cena.
20:04Orton goes down again.
20:05And John, and there's that spin slam by Cena.
20:09And John Cena's got Orton where he wants him.
20:12Will he give the fans what they want?
20:15Muscle memory for Cena, and hats off to Cena, not even breathing heavy.
20:26Mockingly.
20:29And now John with the five knuckle shuffle across the forehead of Orton.
20:33Well, he's a knob, but he's absolutely capable of tapping into that historical best.
20:39And here we go, Cole.
20:40Cena looking for an AA, and Orton was able to slip out from behind.
20:44Randy now with a clothesline.
20:45Now Orton, something to pick up the pace.
20:48It is May.
20:49It is the final number of months since John Cena's legendary career.
20:54He wants to retire as champion.
20:56Orton has something to say about it tonight.
20:59We'll talk about tapping into historical best.
21:02Randy Orton doing what he does like nobody else.
21:06And Cena's in trouble here.
21:07He's been in this position before.
21:11It's a draping DDT, but, oh, Cena, great move.
21:15Cena, pulling up Orton here.
21:16And again, these guys know each other so well, Wade.
21:19Yeah, when you know the greats.
21:20And now Cena looking for the SPFU.
21:21Oh, God.
21:21Oh, God.
21:22Randy blocking it so, so well.
21:24Keep those hands where they are, Randy.
21:26John trying to lock it in, but Randy Orton able to block at least momentarily.
21:31John's able to slip it in there, though.
21:33He doesn't have all of it as Orton now tries to drag John to the ropes.
21:37Yeah, Cena desperately trying to re-impact and stretch that spine of Randy Orton.
21:43But Randy, perhaps at this point, at least too powerful to alarm to do so.
21:47And John Cena realizing that, looks to grab it and drag, working back toward the middle
21:51of the ring.
21:52Randy creates some space.
21:54Simply got it.
21:55Stay away from the heaviest hitters.
21:57And here we go again.
21:58Take two.
21:58And this time now, vintage Randy Orton with a draping DDT.
22:03And I think Randy, as he recuperates, may start hearing some voices.
22:10I've tasted that DDT many times from Randy Orton, and things never went well in the aftermath.
22:18Randy shrugging off some pain in that lower back from that STF attempt.
22:31The Viper is coiled.
22:34The Viper is ready to strike.
22:40Went for the RKO.
22:43Cena blocked.
22:44Cena now with Randy up on his shoulders.
22:49Attitude adjustment.
22:50Wait a minute.
22:56Both men down.
23:01Okay.
23:03Look at this out.
23:04Massive amount of effort there from John Cena.
23:06And look at this.
23:07Oh, God.
23:07Have we missed it?
23:08Yes.
23:08Cena went for the AA.
23:10Randy went for the RKO.
23:12And both men took each other out.
23:15Just shows you how lightning fast the reactions of Randy Orton are.
23:19In real time, we were oblivious to it.
23:22But Chuck, the slow-mo.
23:23My God.
23:24Keeping himself in the match.
23:25Yeah, incredible.
23:26Cena delivering an AA while Randy countered at the same time of the RKO.
23:31Well, Cena smelled victory there.
23:34But taking it away at the death is the unrepentant Viper.
23:40It's amazing.
23:41And so many years of watching these two do battle and it just each and every time.
23:46It's just so blessed to be out here, Wade, to watch these two all-time greats go at each other.
23:51Two most iconic professional wrestlers of this millennium.
23:56And you've shared the ring with both of them.
23:58That's incredible.
23:58Oh!
23:59Yeah, and I rarely had any form of success.
24:01But by John.
24:02With a 1A and 1B.
24:06Now Randy Orton fires back.
24:08And a big uppercut by Randy.
24:17I'll tell you, 17,000 plus have been invested.
24:20And not only...
24:20Oh, wait a minute!
24:21AA!
24:22AA by Cena!
24:23To retain!
24:24On Orton!
24:25Cover!
24:26Kick out by Randy!
24:28Well, that time Randy Orton just had no answer.
24:31You had to think he was rocked by those massive shots from John Cena.
24:36Randy Orton happens a big deep to protect the legacy of not only his family, but his entire industry.
24:44I was going to say, 17,000 invested in every move in this match tonight.
24:48In fact, they've been invested in every move of every match tonight.
24:52And what has been an incredible show.
24:55Let's go, Cena!
24:57Let's go, Cena!
25:00Let's go, Cena!
25:03Let's go, Cena!
25:07We've had three title retentions so far tonight.
25:10Cena trying to make it full.
25:13And now Randy Orton up on his shoulders again, able to use those long arms to hang on to the top rope.
25:19And the momentum now.
25:21This is wildly seen off the ropes again.
25:23There's another shoulder tackle to Randy.
25:25Randy...
25:25Oh, KO!
25:26Out of nowhere!
25:28Come on, Randy!
25:29Looking for the pin here!
25:30And John Cena rolling out of harm's way!
25:34Randy could not capitalize!
25:35Oh my God, John Cena picking up the pace on this one.
25:39Randy Orton with a desperation throw at the RKO.
25:43So much has been taken out of Orton.
25:45And he may have got a stinger at some point.
25:48Trying to get some feeling back in the hands.
25:50Grabbing the neck.
25:50Look at this RKO.
25:51So instinctive.
25:53Well, Randy's had...
25:53Precision!
25:54And wait, he's had neck issues, back issues, shoulder issues, his entire career.
25:5825 years at the top.
26:00Taking on guys like John Cena will do that to your friend.
26:03Both of these men racked with countless injuries over the years.
26:07It's astounding they can still do this at the very top level.
26:10It's been nearly eight and a half years.
26:12Oh, wait a minute!
26:13The legend killer wants to be the GOAT killer!
26:17Went for the punt!
26:19John Cena able to counter into another AA to retain!
26:24Hook of the leg!
26:25Orton kicks out!
26:28Wow!
26:28Well, Randy Orton did promise us a couple of weeks ago he was gonna connect with a punt
26:34to the skull of John Cena.
26:36But that excitement overcommitted.
26:38Turned his back briefly and Cena was ready to pounce.
26:43But he will do it somehow still.
26:45Randy Orton, and I'm looking over at Orton in the ring.
26:48He's keep wiggling those fingers.
26:50I don't know how much feeling is left in there.
26:52Big fight atmosphere.
26:5417,000 plus sold out St. Louis tonight.
26:57Our main event at Backlash.
26:58Cena, Orton, once again.
27:01Perhaps the final time for the undisputed WWE Championship.
27:06And now, John Cena mocking Randy Orton.
27:08Big smile on his face off the reaction of the WWE fans in Orton's hometown.
27:22And now, John Cena may be lining up for a punt of his own.
27:25Randy Orton moves out of harm's way.
27:27Randy now went for an RKO.
27:28Orton shoved into the official.
27:30So, I'm not sure that was an inadvertent, but an inadvertent by Cena.
27:35But nonetheless, the official Chad Patton's down.
27:38Yeah, that was a heavy landing for Chad Patton.
27:40And now with Chad down, Cena with a third AA delivered to Randy.
27:44But John is very well aware there's no official right now.
27:46Yeah, how many times do you see people dive on a pin in that situation?
27:50That is 25 years of experience of John Cena.
27:53Knowing full well he's on a hiding to nothing.
27:56But with the referee down, what the-
27:59You know, John is staring down at the title.
28:02Remember what happened at WrestleMania when Cody Rhodes wouldn't pull the trigger.
28:06Wouldn't use the championship.
28:08Well, you can go as low as you want at this point.
28:12You can't see me.
28:14Referee can't see me.
28:15Why?
28:16Why?
28:17History.
28:17Why?
28:19That was the answer, history.
28:21You've already made history, John.
28:23Yeah, you made history.
28:24You didn't have to act like this.
28:25Well, he's trying to own history.
28:26That's the point.
28:27That's why he wants to retire with that championship.
28:30And with the referee down, Randy Unputed.
28:32Oh, KO out of nowhere by Orton.
28:35But again, there's no official.
28:36But the Viper is struck.
28:38Cover on John.
28:39One, two, three, four.
28:43Oh, and Chad just came too.
28:45But not enough.
28:46And Cena kicks out.
28:50Randy Orton knew that was his opportunity.
28:53And Cena is now reeling.
28:56Well, what a rollercoaster.
28:5860 seconds this was.
29:01Swinging back and forth.
29:03Both men looking to be closing in on the win.
29:09Randy's in a bad way.
29:10But I think John Cena is even worse off at this point.
29:13Oh, Chad Patton.
29:14I'm not even sure he can breathe.
29:15Oh, boy.
29:29Get the hell out of the way, Wade.
29:32You don't have to tell me twice.
29:35Oh, God.
29:36You remember that pent-up rage that was supposed to be targeted at Kevin Owens?
29:41He didn't just dissipate.
29:43It's remained and it's been refocused on John Cena.
29:46What are you talking about?
29:47This man's had pent-up rage for 25 years.
29:53Randy Orton is up.
29:54Get out.
29:55Oh, God.
29:55Oh, Cena now.
29:56Oh, man.
29:57Patton went head first.
29:59Somebody get a doctor over here.
30:01Chad went head first into the steps.
30:03Yeah, Chad Patton's done.
30:04And now John Cena sending Randy Orton off the ring post.
30:07Well, the referee, Chad Patton, was trying to plead with Randy Orton.
30:10Speak some sense.
30:11Get him back in the ring.
30:12And that was the moment John Cena capitalized and got straight back into this.
30:17And again, I got to admit something here, Wade.
30:19That John has been just a step quicker tonight to beat Randy Orton to the punch.
30:25He's got that look on his face that he's loved every second of it so far.
30:28He's trying to embarrass and humiliate Randy Orton in his hometown.
30:32Well, he's going to do that if he puts him through this table here.
30:36Just the scowl and the disgusting look on the face of...
30:40The disgusted look, I should say, on the face of Cena.
30:44And now John with Randy Orton up top.
30:49Focusing on the announce table now.
30:51Randy Orton, though.
30:52He's got John up on his own.
30:54And Randy Orton now.
30:55Look at this.
30:56Randy with an A-A to Cena on top of the table.
31:02Orton with an A-A delivering to Cena.
31:06The Viper strikes.
31:07John Cena bouncing off the table.
31:19Spine first off this reinforced steel table.
31:22And Randy's talking to himself now.
31:24And that's never a good thing.
31:26You might want to get back, Cole.
31:27You've already dodged danger once this evening.
31:30Where the hell do you want me to go?
31:37Randy now just dragging John Cena up.
31:40Talking some trash as he's doing it.
31:42But amidst this carnage,
31:45referee Chad Patton is down.
31:47And I assure you, out.
31:49He's not coming back here.
31:51Well, somebody better check on Chad.
31:53He's out.
31:54We need another official down here.
31:56Randy's beating the hell out of Cena.
31:58And I don't think he's done yet.
32:01Got a lot of walking wounded.
32:03Our medical staff are focused on a lot of the bodies
32:06that have been beaten up this evening.
32:10And things are about to get even worse.
32:13Judging by the actions of Randy Orton,
32:16who has found something he likes to look at.
32:20And the fans do as well.
32:28Randy Orton, he's setting up a table, Wade.
32:35Randy Orton is now setting up a table.
32:38I mean, he's already put John
32:39into one and through one.
32:42And now he's got the hood over our announce table
32:45that he's tossing out of harm's way.
32:46And he's going to drag John Cena now.
32:49Morality goes out the window.
32:51Referee's down.
32:52Take your chance.
32:53Make this a street fight.
32:54And now John fighting back.
32:59Bouncing Randy off the steel steps here.
33:04Cena.
33:05Randy fighting back.
33:08Randy.
33:12Another 8-8.
33:14Through a table.
33:16Randy Orton using John's offense against him.
33:19Well, a brief pause from Randy Orton after
33:32the amount of energy he's exerted this evening.
33:36You can't blame him,
33:37but John Cena looks banter right to this point.
33:40Two tables he's been through.
33:43But, Wade, there's a serious problem here.
33:45We don't have an official.
33:46This has turned into an all-out street fight.
33:49An absolute brawl.
33:51Referee Chad Patton's been down for a number of minutes.
33:53He went head first into the steel steps.
33:56Well, we need a contingency plan
33:57because this match is continuing.
33:59Well, maybe general manager Pierce
34:01should think about sending another official down here.
34:03It is awesome, guys,
34:04but Randy's not going to have a chance to win things
34:07if there's nobody to count.
34:11Well, it's time to get that point.
34:13They're unlimited damage.
34:14Until a referee finally shows up,
34:20there's nothing stopping you.
34:22Guarantee victory.
34:23And Randy Orton now is coiled and ready to strike John Cena.
34:26Trying to come to now.
34:27Trying to make it back to his feet.
34:29Orton is primed and ready.
34:31Randy Orton now.
34:33RK on a Cena.
34:35Forehead to canvas.
34:37Cover, wait a minute.
34:38Look who's coming.
34:38Look who's coming.
34:39A visual Eddie Arango.
34:41Into the ring.
34:42Cena kicks it too.
34:43Not quite quick enough for Randy Orton.
34:45But we've got another official in the ring.
34:49Well, the frustration is palpable inside this arena.
34:53The hometown boy had it won.
34:56But somehow, I'll give all the credit in the world
34:59after going through two tables
35:01and tasting an RKO.
35:03John Cena refuses to die.
35:06And now, as Randy talks to the official,
35:18John Cena stalking him from behind.
35:20Oh, the championship bounced off the face.
35:24RKO.
35:24The official's down again.
35:27Randy Orton's got the damn championship won again.
35:30And again, there's no official.
35:32One, six, seven, eight.
35:36Five, six, seven, eight.
35:38And now, general manager Nick Aldis from SmackDown
35:41and a bunch of officials heading down to the ring
35:43trying to get the official Eddie Arango to come to.
35:47I'll tell you right now,
35:48I've seen many championship shots to the cranium in my time.
35:52That was about as hard a hit as I have ever seen.
35:56I'm not surprised as this was focused on the referee who's down.
36:00And Randy, of course, frustrated.
36:01He had this one.
36:03Of course he did.
36:04Now he's yelling at Aldis, the general manager.
36:07Get another referee, Nick.
36:10Very many left.
36:11I love to see two carcasses of referees
36:16who complain nobody else who wanted to run down.
36:19Get some...
36:20Oh.
36:20RKO in Aldis.
36:21That'll be a fine.
36:24Another RKO.
36:25It's an RKO party in St. Louis.
36:28A frustrated RKO.
36:30An RKO after RKO.
36:32There are bodies everywhere.
36:37Carnage at the hands of a completely out of his mind, Randy Orton.
36:43Bodies everywhere and now voices ringing in the ears of the sadistic psychopath.
36:54And who can blame Randy Orton for losing his rank at this point?
36:58He had the title won in a number of times in this match.
37:01John Cena is defenseless in the corner.
37:05Randy Orton is backing up into position.
37:08He tried to do this earlier tonight.
37:10I mentioned the legend killer.
37:11For many years, planted legends.
37:15One final legend to kill.
37:22Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
37:23What the hell are you doing, Truth?
37:25R-Truth coming to the aid of his longtime RKO.
37:31Truth, a longtime fan of Cena's, coming out here to defend John.
37:37Low blow!
37:38That's R-Truth's fault.
37:40Well, I mean.
37:44R-Truth lives in a alternative reality.
37:47He did come out here because he's a fan of John's, but the problem now, off the low blow, Cena has the championship gold in hand again.
37:55Right off the skull of Orton.
37:57He gets rid of the evidence.
37:59Into the cover.
38:01Again, no official, but coming to and dragging himself into the ring is Chad Patton.
38:06Patton's back into the ring.
38:07The cover now by Cena.
38:09Randy Orton is down and out.
38:11And John Cena retains the damn championship.
38:14Here is your winner, and still the undisputed WWE Champion,
38:29John Cena!
38:34I don't even know what to say anymore, except the fact that the old John Cena never in a million years would have taken a victory like that.
38:44Well, this is-
38:44Which is what made him special, Wade.
38:47That is what made John Cena special.
38:50Well, you're a reformed fanboy like a lot of people at this point, but this is the most desperate, soulless John Cena we have ever seen.
38:58But crucially, that's irrelevant right now.
39:01What is relevant is that John Cena is still the champ.
39:07Well, he wants to retire the title.
39:10The last real champion in his mind, and I mean-
39:14Well, this was the second referee who got fouled, Eddie Orango Championship, shot to the skull, connected with a flush RKO, and Randy had this one.
39:25This was the moment.
39:27This place should have come unglued, and Randy should have been the 15th time world champion.
39:32Well, Randy's gonna suffer a lot of fines after the carnage he left, as his, uh, frustration just-
39:40An RKO party, anyone in reasonable range took one.
39:47Our producers, our executives, Jamie Noble face first, bouncing off the mat.
39:53And this was when Randy Orton lined up the punt, and it should have been executed.
39:57That was the kill shot.
39:59Oh, R-Truth out here, uh, to save his long-time, uh, well, buddy, I guess.
40:05Always a fan of Cena.
40:06And, uh, and then, of course, with the official still out, that was delivered, the low-blow weight, and then it was just a-
40:11A lot of distraction from R-Truth opened the window for John Cena to do the dastardly, take it as low as you want.
40:18And Randy Orton at this point, with that championship shot, he's out completely cold.
40:23And you hope, beyond hope, there would be some way he could kick out of this.
40:29You know what-
40:30But the three count was in.
40:33You know what makes me so angry about all this is the fact that that was a great match.
40:38John put on a hell of a show.
40:39I know you can't see me, but can you hear me?
40:42Cut the damn music!
40:43I don't need music.
40:55I don't need music.
41:04What I need is competition.
41:06And I sure as hell don't need you.
41:17Drink it in, St. Louis.
41:20Because this is what the last real champion looks like.
