00:01:49What I'll be teaching you now is how to use this simple household tool called cane.
00:01:54The first thing I want you to learn is how to handle the cane.
00:01:57From here, see the way it drops?
00:01:59Put your palm facing down, grabbing the handle with the index finger and the rich hand bone
00:02:05right behind the cane.
00:02:07This will give you the proper leverage to turn the cane right or to the left.
00:02:14This stripe could be used for the temples or the other way.
00:02:22And back.
00:02:24Same thing, you could just slide your hand down, grabbing the cane, using it as a baton.
00:02:29Heading into the temple, heading into the other side.
00:02:33We're going to cover some basic pressure points and sensitive points of the body and strike
00:02:38to them.
00:02:38Number one, temple, temple, to the jaw, to the jaw, straight down to color bone, color bone.
00:02:59Elbows.
00:03:04Knee.
00:03:09And ankles.
00:03:15You can also slash with the cane.
00:03:18From here, bring the cane straight up, giving it to your left hand, stepping forward, striking.
00:03:25Bridge of the nose, the upper lip, throat, sole flexes.
00:03:35Or if you're standing sideways, slashing through the rib, the back of the knee.
00:03:42And back.
00:03:44Also, there's some thrust strikes that go straight forward from here.
00:03:48Two different ways.
00:03:49Up, grab under, go straight to the groin, sole flexes, throat, and the eyes.
00:04:02The other way, come up, grab over, twisting at the same time.
00:04:09Throwing, sole flexes, throat, and the eyes.
00:04:18What I'll be going over now are the basic strikes with cane.
00:04:22What I want you to visualize is a straight line right in front of you.
00:04:27Now, what I want you to do with the cane, standing fighting stance, right foot back, pick up the
00:04:32cane in your hand, and cover the straight line.
00:04:34Going straight down, turn the cane, and bring it straight back up.
00:04:40Notice that I'm synchronizing my timing so I can turn at the same time when I bring this
00:04:45up.
00:04:45One more time.
00:04:46Straight down, and straight up.
00:04:49Okay?
00:04:49Strike could be done to the temple or the groin on the way back.
00:04:52Okay?
00:04:53Now, what I want you to visualize, after this line, another straight line, making a cross.
00:04:59This one, bring the cane up, putting it on your arm, going around, turn, and the other
00:05:07way, come back.
00:05:08So, what we did so far, we made two straight lines.
00:05:10Going straight down, up, cross, and back.
00:05:16Okay?
00:05:16Now, after you've got these two lines, let's add another one, about 45 degrees this way.
00:05:21Going to the collarbone, on the way back to the knee.
00:05:24So, from here, we go 45 degrees down, and back up.
00:05:29Notice when I strike, all my body weight is going behind the cane, and I'm pivoting on the
00:05:34right leg, and turning it back.
00:05:38After one, two, third line, we add the fourth line.
00:05:41From here, the fourth line will come across the head, going one, and back.
00:05:48Now with having one, two, three, and four different lines, you can make unlimited amount
00:05:54of combinations.
00:05:55Let's say you can go this line up, this one across, bring it down, bring it up, bring it
00:06:03straight down, across again, and going back up.
00:06:06Could be hitting them in different directions.
00:06:08You don't have to go straight line and come back.
00:06:11You can go one angle, and go back the other way, and come back from this corner, coming
00:06:15straight down.
00:06:17Now, follow along with me, while I go through all these lines again.
00:06:21From here, going straight down, and back up.
00:06:25Going to 45 degree one.
00:06:28Straight down, and back up.
00:06:31The straight one.
00:06:39One, and bring it back.
00:06:42Same thing, you can step back.
00:06:43Doesn't matter what stance you're on.
00:06:45Even if you have left foot back, same circle would work.
00:06:48Going over, back.
00:06:50Going over, and back.
00:06:52After you feel comfortable, really comfortable with the straight lines, what you want to do,
00:06:56you want to add figure eights.
00:06:59From here like this, making a figure eight with your hand first, then with a cane.
00:07:04Very simple ones.
00:07:05This way, or start from this corner, or from this corner.
00:07:10From each of these corners, you can make a figure eight.
00:07:12From here like this, you can make a straight line, going up, making a figure eight, and
00:07:19coming back, and same thing back.
00:07:21One, and two.
00:07:24You can make any of these lines, take any of them, and make a figure eight out of them.
00:07:29Let's say the straight one.
00:07:30One, two.
00:07:31You can make a figure eight out of the first line, going one, and two, making an eight.
00:07:39You can make this line a figure eight.
00:07:41One, two.
00:07:43All these figure eights, you could be striking to the temple, to the elbow, anywhere in the
00:07:48body.
00:07:49You can make this straight line a figure eight.
00:07:54Same thing this one.
00:07:59From here, after you feel comfortable with these, now what I want you to do, visualize
00:08:03this line could be anywhere.
00:08:07You can have the one line here, one line here, one line here, all parallel together.
00:08:12This line could be here, could be here, could be here, could be here.
00:08:15From here, you've got unlimited amount of combinations.
00:08:18You can hit straight down, straight this way, straight this way, or straight this way,
00:08:23and you can go back the same way.
00:08:26You can make figure eights the same way.
00:08:27From here, you can go one, go back, bring it back the other way, go down, make a little
00:08:34thin knee, come back to the temples, go up again, maybe slash, make another figure eights,
00:08:41and come back.
00:08:43As you know, visualization is one of the most important aspects of any martial arts.
00:08:48What I want you to do is to do the same thing with the cane.
00:08:51Visualize you're being attacked by a few people, and just go through your mind.
00:08:54Try to use all those strides against them.
00:08:57Now try to follow me.
00:08:58From here like this, just pretend like somebody's coming forward.
00:09:01Maybe a straight thrust, turning around.
00:09:03Maybe somebody coming from this side.
00:09:04Use this side, going straight forward.
00:09:07Now from here, somebody coming from behind you, maybe use that straight circle.
00:09:11Go back, turn, hit him, and go back to the other guy.
00:09:15Maybe bring it forward, step forward, hook around the neck, bring him down, strike again.
00:09:21From here like this, slash, upward.
00:09:25Now what I'll be teaching you are some of the applications of these simple strides.
00:09:29From here, remember the straight cross one.
00:09:32Go into the temples, same straight line, a little bit lower.
00:09:38Go into the elbows, and back.
00:09:41Notice how I'm turning my body.
00:09:43Same thing to the knees, and back.
00:09:46Okay, that covers the first line.
00:09:48The second one, straight over the head, all the way through, and back, through growing.
00:09:55So from here like this, you could be hitting one, to the temple, to the elbow, to the knees.
00:10:04From here you could be going straight down, or straight up.
00:10:09Covering the second line, which is at 45 degrees.
00:10:12From here, going down the collarbone, or back, to the knees.
00:10:18From here, going one, two.
00:10:25Okay, after this one, going back to this one.
00:10:28Straight, and back.
00:10:30Using this line now, going up, and back.
00:10:36So from here, one, and two.
00:10:41Okay, now using the figure eights that we were talking about before.
00:10:44From here, in a straight line.
00:10:47One, hit, and hit.
00:10:52So from here, you could be going one, two, and back.
00:11:01One, two.
00:11:03Same thing, the elbows.
00:11:06One, two, and back.
00:11:11From here, one, back.
00:11:15Same thing to the knees.
00:11:16One, and back.
00:11:21Again, one, and back.
00:11:26From here, after these moves, we get to slashing.
00:11:30Grabbing, stepping forward, anywhere in the face, in the body, or in the knee.
00:11:39After this one, we get into hooking.
00:11:41Grab, step forward, grabbing around the neck, bringing them down.
00:11:45Or using for doing throws.
00:11:50Now, I'll be demonstrating the same stride with full speed.
00:12:26So, what do we do?
00:12:26I'm just going to lift this to the side and aik.
00:12:27In four minutes.
00:12:29We'll give you a few minutes.
00:12:30I'm going to lift this up.
00:12:30We'll give you a few minutes.
00:12:30We'll give you a couple minutes.
00:12:33Let us see how we can do this.
00:12:33And before I go.
00:12:33After we go.
00:12:33We'll give you a few minutes.
00:12:34Let us know.
00:12:34Let us know.
00:12:45It might be the maintenance.
00:13:54The next strike we're going to teach you are the basic hooking techniques.
00:13:58From here like this, grab the cane straight up, stepping forward, around the neck, bringing
00:14:07them down, or striking.
00:14:10Same kind of hooking could be used later on for doing throws.
00:14:17Okay?
00:14:18The hooking also works really well.
00:14:21If the person punches, hooking around the elbows, or breaking the elbows.
00:14:25If the person steps forward, going back to the ankle, pulling.
00:14:33Same thing could work.
00:14:35Guy strikes, going back to the knee.
00:14:40Hooking also works for the groin, pulling it straight forward, backwards on the throat,
00:14:51or using the handle right on the throat and pull back.
00:14:58Some of the other applications of them are striking, actually, with this part.
00:15:04It could be hitting anywhere in the body, or the ribs, or the leg, or the ankle, or the
00:15:14knee.
00:15:14Now try to get your own cane and try to follow me as close as you can.
00:15:19From here like this, you could be going through a straight slash, grabbing the neck, bringing
00:15:24him straight down.
00:15:26The person could be punching you.
00:15:28You could be blocking the punch, reaching down for the knee, pulling it down.
00:15:32The person could be, his back could be towards you.
00:15:36You could be going around the neck, pulling him down.
00:15:40The person could be kicking you, and you can hook his foot right in this curve motion right
00:15:46here.
00:15:47The person could be punching you.
00:15:48You could go against the elbow.
00:15:50These are some of the set techniques that we have in Hapkido.
00:15:53We start with the basic punch defenses.
00:15:55Somebody's throwing a punch at you.
00:15:56From here like this, standing comfortable with the cane.
00:16:00Remember the index finger right underneath the cane.
00:16:03The person steps forward to punch.
00:16:04Simply just pick the cane, straight up.
00:16:07That's number one.
00:16:09From here one more time.
00:16:10The person steps in, don't panic or anything.
00:16:12Just step, same time, pick it straight up for growing.
00:16:16Now while you could be doing, which would be very smart to do, when a person steps in,
00:16:22you might want to step back, so you won't get punched, just in case.
00:16:27Okay, this time, fast.
00:16:29The person coming forward.
00:16:43The person coming forward.
00:16:47The person coming forward.
00:16:48Okay, try this with me at home.
00:16:50From here.
00:16:51The person coming forward.
00:16:53Stepping back.
00:16:54Picking up the cane.
00:16:56Straight.
00:16:57Right through growing.
00:16:58And back.
00:16:59From here one.
00:17:00And up.
00:17:03Number two.
00:17:05The person steps in to punch.
00:17:08Step left foot out.
00:17:09Right to my face.
00:17:11Step left foot out and deflect the punch.
00:17:13Remember the same exact thing.
00:17:15Pick up the cane.
00:17:16Remember the first strike is going over.
00:17:18Up.
00:17:18And to the temple.
00:17:22Again.
00:17:23The person steps in.
00:17:25Step out.
00:17:25Deflect.
00:17:26Hitting right to the temple.
00:17:28This also could be finished.
00:17:31The assignment.
00:17:33Again.
00:17:34So the person steps in.
00:17:36You step out.
00:17:37Deflect the punch.
00:17:39Right to the temple.
00:17:40Again.
00:17:41One.
00:17:41Step.
00:17:42And hit.
00:17:43Going right through.
00:17:46Next one.
00:17:48The person.
00:17:49Instead of facing me this way.
00:17:51Steps in to punch.
00:17:52Now we're getting into the blocking techniques.
00:17:54From here.
00:17:54What I want you to do.
00:17:55Give the cane to this hand.
00:17:57While the person steps forward.
00:17:59Stepping left foot out.
00:18:00And deflecting the punch.
00:18:03Okay.
00:18:04Now from tip of the cane.
00:18:05Bring straight back.
00:18:06Slashing across the face.
00:18:09Okay.
00:18:10Build up a lot of momentum.
00:18:12And hit back to the knee.
00:18:13Straight down.
00:18:16Okay.
00:18:16Could be turning around.
00:18:17And hitting straight across.
00:18:20One more time.
00:18:22The person steps in.
00:18:24Deflect.
00:18:25Going back to the face.
00:18:27To the knee.
00:18:29Step.
00:18:30And across.
00:18:32Same thing going fast.
00:18:33All the way down.
00:18:34Step in.
00:18:36One.
00:18:37Two.
00:18:37Three.
00:18:38Two.
00:18:38Two.
00:18:39Two.
00:18:40Two.
00:18:41Two.
00:18:42Two.
00:18:43Two.
00:18:44Two.
00:18:56Two.
00:18:57Two.
00:18:58Two.
00:18:59Two.
00:18:59Two.
00:18:59Two.
00:19:02Two.
00:19:04Two.
00:19:05Two.
00:19:06Two.
00:19:09Step in. 1, 2, 3. And back. Now try this with me. From here, person steps in, up, step
00:19:22left foot out. Very similar to doing an outside block. Open knife hand. So from here, block,
00:19:29bring it back. Going down. Turn around. Straight down. Next one. The person is going to be
00:19:42stepping in again with another way of blocking. From here, stepping right foot out. Same way,
00:19:48give it a cane to the other hand and pick it up this way. So you're deflecting it so the
00:19:53punch, there's no chance that it could be come to your face. Remember the hooking techniques?
00:19:57We'll go right around the neck. Bring them straight down to meet your knee. Right in
00:20:03the middle. Again. Person steps in. Deflect. Hook. And in. Same thing fast. Step in. Okay.
00:20:37Try this with me. From here. So we went over this block before. Outside. Now we go inside.
00:20:42Right foot out. Hook up. Block. Around the neck. Pull in. And knee. Now the same technique
00:20:50is full speed. Step out. One. Pull back. And down. Okay. One more time. From here. One. And back.
00:21:27From here. One. And back.
00:21:31Back. Okay. Now next one. From here like this. One of the techniques that we did. The person
00:21:40stepped in. We deflected. We hit. We went for the knee. We can improvise that a little bit.
00:21:47From here. When the person steps in. We could be going out. Striking to the face. Using your
00:21:54leg now. Because the body, the head is going this way. What we want to do is make your lower
00:21:58body go the opposite way. So in return the body will fall. So from here. Step in. Okay. One. Two.
00:22:06Kick to the leg. Three. When the person falls. Straight back. Straight down. One more time.
00:22:16Person steps in. One. Deflect. Hit. And. Leg. And hit. Same thing with full speed.
00:22:24Three.
00:22:26Two.
00:22:27Three.
00:22:28Three.
00:22:29Three.
00:23:39Now I'll be doing it towards you this time.
00:23:41From here, slipping out, slash.
00:23:45Notice how my body weight is changing from here.
00:23:48You're slipping out, putting all your body behind it.
00:23:51Strike into the face.
00:23:54Lower roundhouse to the leg.
00:23:56Turn around.
00:23:58Hands to the body.
00:24:00Both feet.
00:24:01Going one, two, three, four.
00:24:30Going one, two, three, four.
00:24:33Going one, two, three, four.
00:25:03Steps in to do a left punch.
00:25:05This time, while the punch is going straight forward, remember you always want to step
00:25:09out of the way.
00:25:10Don't waste your time by blocking it.
00:25:12From here, while this one is going, slash.
00:25:16Okay?
00:25:17Now from here, remember the hooking techniques, the low ones.
00:25:20Comes down, ankle, pulls it in.
00:25:23When the person drops, stepping forward, striking through groin.
00:25:28Again, the person steps forward.
00:25:32One, down, hook.
00:25:35And straight forward.
00:25:38Now this time, full speed.
00:25:40The person steps in.
00:25:46Okay?
00:25:47Same thing done going forward.
00:25:49Remember, the punch is coming straight towards you.
00:25:51Step right foot out.
00:25:52Give it to the other hand.
00:25:54Slap to the body.
00:25:56Reaching for the ankle.
00:25:58Pulling it down.
00:25:59And going for the groin.
00:26:02From here, you go with one.
00:26:06And back.
00:26:13Yeah.
00:26:27You go with one.
00:26:29Yeah.
00:26:30Yeah.
00:26:57And back.
00:26:59Next technique is done.
00:27:00Same way, going through reverse punch again.
00:27:03Right reverse punch.
00:27:04This time when the person comes in, step right foot out.
00:27:07Cane comes up.
00:27:07Deflect with the left hand.
00:27:09The cane comes straight up.
00:27:12Going around the neck.
00:27:15The left hand grabs the wrist.
00:27:17And it pushes the elbow against the cane.
00:27:20Making the person going straight down.
00:27:23And hook.
00:27:26One more time.
00:27:28When the punch comes, stepping right foot out.
00:27:32Cane comes up.
00:27:35Around the neck.
00:27:37The wrist comes up.
00:27:38Step left foot back.
00:27:40Making a big circle.
00:27:42And hook.
00:27:46Same thing done.
00:27:47Moving faster.
00:27:48The person comes.
00:27:49Okay.
00:27:49One.
00:27:50Hook.
00:27:51Straight.
00:27:51Hook.
00:27:56Same thing done.
00:27:58Faster.
00:27:59Person steps in.
00:28:00One.
00:28:01Under.
00:28:02Hook.
00:28:03Touch me last time.
00:28:07Picture me.
00:28:11Throw away.
00:28:19Get strong to play.
00:28:24You
00:28:34What under
00:29:10Same technique done at full speed so from here step right foot out deflect cane over the neck step left
00:29:17foot back straight down
00:29:20One more time going one over and straight
00:29:26Okay next technique
00:29:29Person steps in again with the right punch
00:29:33Left out doing your left outside block the cane comes straight up
00:29:38Right to the armpit grabbing your wrist bending the elbow stepping left foot forward turning
00:29:46And straight down evolve
00:29:51And straight down from here to be finished
00:29:55With a straight strike you're going
00:29:58Stepping right foot out cane under
00:30:01Hook step left duck and straight down
00:30:09Okay
00:30:10Same thing down at full speed
00:30:12I can punch
00:30:14What?
00:30:40Yahh

00:30:44Yahh
00:30:55Oh, my God.
00:31:43Same thing told you this time.
00:31:44Try to try this just like me.
00:31:46From here, stepping right foot out, outside block, cane under, grab, duck, and straight
00:31:54under.
00:31:56One more time.
00:31:58Right foot out, outside block, under, duck, and straight over.
00:32:04Next technique against the reverse punch again.
00:32:08From here, the person steps in, step left foot out, deflect, cross step, keep the same
00:32:13force, turning around, spinning, right to the spine.
00:32:18Same hooking technique, under, and pull.
00:32:24The person steps in, one, cross step, hit to the spine, under, hook.
00:32:31At full speed.

00:33:40Gah!
00:33:41Gah!
00:33:42Same technique, full speed towards you.
00:33:44This time, the opponent steps in, step out, block, cross step.
00:33:50Turn around, strap to the spine, hook under, and pull.
00:33:56One more time, person steps in, one, two, hook, and pull.
00:34:20Gah!
00:34:21Gah!
00:34:21Gah!
00:34:22Gah!

00:34:26Gah!
00:34:27Gah!
00:34:27Gah!
00:34:29Gah!
00:34:38You're the next one.
00:34:42Body stance.
00:34:43This time, the person steps in.
00:34:46Same technique.
00:34:47One, doing it roundhouse to the leg, the person will pick up the leg if you do it low enough
00:34:54to the heel.
00:34:54One more time.
00:34:56Step in.
00:34:58One, picking up the front leg, turning around, you can change the cane right in the middle
00:35:04and pull the other one right underneath them.
00:35:08Or you can also use your spinning heel kick.
00:35:10From here, step, one, pick it up, hook the other one.
00:35:18You notice when I kick the first leg, all the body weight automatically goes to the other
00:35:22one.
00:35:23So from here, step in, one, kick, hook.
00:35:30Same technique done with this low spinning kick.
00:35:33One, two, three, and strike.
00:36:24Let's try the same thing again.
00:36:25One, two, three.
00:36:26One, two, three, and strike.
00:36:30Let's try the same thing again.
00:36:32From here, step out, roundhouse, turn around, and hook.
00:36:41Again, stepping out, roundhouse, and hook with the other side.
00:37:05Next technique, again, a reverse punch again.
00:37:06Step out, roundhouse, and hook with the other side.
00:37:11Next technique, again, a reverse punch again.
00:37:14Again, person steps in from here, redirect the arm all the way, bring it up to your shoulder.
00:37:23If they can't do the other hand, going against the elbow, and straight down.
00:37:30Again, person steps in, hook under, and straight down.
00:37:37It could be a take down or elbow break.
00:37:40Step in, one, hook.
00:38:04One, hook.
00:38:26One hook, one hook, one hook, same thing, full speed, try to do this at home with
00:38:35me.
00:38:35Punch is coming towards you, this leg going straight on and making a big circle, cane
00:38:40over and straight down.
00:38:43Again, step out, one, over and straight down.
00:39:00About one, over and straight down.
00:39:20Next technique will be against a reverse punch, this time left side.
00:39:25Now, person steps in, step right foot out, deflect, the cane comes up, around the neck,
00:39:35roll over and straight down.
00:39:43Again, step in punch, step out, under, hook and straight.
00:40:10Step out, under, hook and straight.
00:40:18Same thing could be done, which will be very difficult for your opponent to fall on.
00:40:24Step in, hook, from here, bend the elbow, duck and straight.
00:40:35You get an arm completely in the hook, pushing the neck up.
00:40:39One more time, step in the left punch, one, hook, bend the elbow, duck and straight.
00:40:51Step down.
00:40:53Step down.
00:40:54Step down.
00:41:05Step down.
00:41:07Step down.
00:41:08Step down.
00:41:20One, hook, bend the elbow, duck, and straight.
00:41:31Same thing towards you this time.
00:41:34Left punch comes in, step out.
00:41:36Under, bend the elbow, duck, and straight down.
00:41:43One more time.
00:41:45Left punch, one, under, duck, and straight down.
00:42:14The next techniques are done against when somebody grabs your wrist to take the cane away from
00:42:21you.
00:42:21The inside wrist.
00:42:22From here.
00:42:23Very simple.
00:42:24The first one.
00:42:25Pick it straight up.
00:42:27Again.
00:42:28The person can reach for it.
00:42:29Grab.
00:42:30And cane.
00:42:31Straight up to growing.
00:42:33Okay?
00:42:34The person grabs it.
00:42:35Just pick it straight up again.
00:42:37Okay?
00:42:38Next one.
00:42:40The person reaches for your hand.
00:42:42Watch this one very carefully.
00:42:43You're going to flip the cane over.
00:42:47Grab under with your palm down.
00:42:50Hooking your wrist.
00:42:52And taking them straight down.
00:42:58One more time.
00:43:00The person reaches.
00:43:02Flick it over.
00:43:03Grab.
00:43:04Under.
00:43:06Or over.
00:43:07Straight down.
00:43:09Now from here, notice if I lick off my left hand, the cane will go right to the head.
00:43:18One more time.
00:43:19It's full speed.
00:43:20The person reaches.
00:43:21One.
00:43:21One.
00:43:22Over.
00:43:23Waah.
00:43:23Wait.
00:43:29You, the person reaches.
00:43:39One.
00:43:40Over.
00:43:40Waah.
00:43:41Wait.
00:43:54person reaches, one, over, break. Same thing from here towards you this time. Person reaches,
00:44:04and goes over, and straight under.
00:44:28Person reaches, and goes over, and straight under.
00:44:36Next technique will be the same hand grabbing, this time goes the opposite direction. Goes
00:44:44over, causes the person to let go. When the person lets go, come in straight forward underneath
00:44:51the chin, and to the stripes. You can do any kind of stripes. Remember something, even
00:44:57if you have the cane in your hand, you're not limited to using only the cane. You still
00:45:01have your legs, you still have your hands. The person reaches, going over, lets go. Now
00:45:07maybe you can use your legs, or even your hands. Don't be limited only to the cane.
00:45:13Next technique could be with the other hand. Outsiders, same exact principle. The cane could
00:45:19be picked up, hitting to the body, to the knee, or to the growing. Or, could use some grappling
00:45:26techniques. Grab, this one. Going clockwise. Over, grab under, let go. When the person lets
00:45:35go, keep the same rotation going, strike into the head. One more time. Person reaches for
00:45:44it. Over, grab under, turn, let go, and straight. Next technique. Grabbing, now going counterclockwise.
00:45:58Going over. On this one, I want you to open up your right thumb, put it on your wrist. Grab
00:46:03over. Grab over. Going with the cane against the wrist bone. Straight down. Again, person
00:46:13grabs, over, and straight down. One more time. Person reaches, hook between the thumb and the
00:46:23cane. Grab over, both thumbs under, and straight down. Now, doing some defenses against some kicking
00:46:33techniques. Let's say the person threw a roundhouse kick. Very simple strikes. The roundhouse
00:46:38comes this way, you want to always move with this strike. The roundhouse comes, step out
00:46:43at the same time. Okay? Now, what you want to do, which would be a really smart move to do,
00:46:48always keep your hands up, just in case the roundhouse is too strong, it's coming towards
00:46:52you. Roundhouse comes one, straight. Right through growing. As far as a takedown, person could
00:46:58be kicking, going one, person drops. Step forward, let's say you drop in your knee. From here,
00:47:04using the cane, you could go straight to the head. You could use some hooking techniques.
00:47:13Again. Okay? Let's say the person threw a front kick. The strike is coming straight towards
00:47:20you. You could be stepping back, dropping the cane straight on the shin bone. So, from here,
00:47:26person steps in. One. Hitting over the shin bone. As soon as he lands, then you can move
00:47:32on. Maybe with some slashing techniques, hooking to the thigh, right and side. Okay? So, the
00:47:39front kick comes in, straight under, and move on. Or, if you threw a front kick and a right
00:47:48punch. Okay? Let's see you deflect. Right punch comes. Move on to the next technique. Okay?
00:48:17Let's see you deflect. Right punch comes. Move on to the next technique. Same thing. Same
00:48:28defense is against the side kick. Strike comes in, step out, strike through growing. Or, moving
00:48:35the other way. Stepping out, striking through growing. Forward again. Step out, straight through
00:48:41growing. And back. Some of the most practical techniques, like grappling techniques. Like,
00:48:51come in, grab me any way you want. Okay? If you have a cane in your hand, very rarely you'd
00:48:57be grabbed like this. Probably the person would reach for the cane with one hand or something
00:49:01because it looks like a weapon. Let's say you were right here, like this. Always think direct
00:49:07and simple. From here, straight up to growing. Very simple stride. Or, from here, you could
00:49:13be going up against the joint, grabbing, turning it, and straight under. One more time. The person
00:49:26reaches for it. Okay? Going under, turn, and straight.
00:50:05Okay, going under, turn, and straight up the elbow.
00:50:14Next technique, grabbing somewhere else.
00:50:18Grabbing with both hands, same simple technique again, straight up the groin to get the attention.
00:50:23From here like this, going over both hands, under, going against the wrist bone, and straight
00:50:29down.
00:50:32Okay, another one.
00:50:35Okay, grabbing the cane itself, from here like this.
00:50:38If you want the person to let go, you could easily redirect his force.
00:50:44Notice that I'm hooked, I'm turning the hooking part into his hand.
00:50:48Okay, let go, pull out, and you could be going in, okay, slashing with the hook part again.
00:50:55Same thing, the person reaches, pick up, come in, put the hook over, and take out.
00:51:00And step forward, or take out.
00:51:04Okay.
00:51:06Okay.
00:51:18Okay.
00:51:31Let's take out.
00:51:32So, let's turn it over.
00:51:32Okay.
00:51:34Okay, let's go.
00:51:38The person reaches, pick up, come in, put the hook over, and take out.
00:51:44And step forward, or take out.
00:51:48Another one, something else, grabbing with the bow hand, from here like this, turn one
00:51:56hand over, came straight to the elbow, okay, reach over, grab, duck, and straight down.
00:52:07Same thing again, grabbing both hands, turning the hand, came to the elbow, hook, duck, and
00:52:14straight.
00:52:49From here like this, okay, when a person reaches up for a grab, for a lapel, remember you still
00:52:53have your one hand.
00:52:55You can reach up, give the cane to one hand, from the hook, and pull it straight down.
00:53:05Grab, and hook.
00:53:08From here, notice what I did, over, gave it to the other hand, let go of the cane, right
00:53:14to the joint, and straight down.
00:53:19Okay, from here like this, picking up the cane to your armpit, and straight back, for a straight
00:53:28backwards thrust.
00:53:31Again, the person comes in, up, you could be giving it to the other hand.
00:53:36From here, step back, and straight under again, right through groin.
00:53:43Same thing again, same grab, from here, bring the cane straight up to the head.
00:53:52Again, remember the wrist moves all the way around, and hit, and using your legs.
00:54:01Next technique, okay, the choke hold.
00:54:07From here like this, remember something, anytime you go against a choke hold, striking it's okay,
00:54:12but the danger is right here.
00:54:14You don't want a person to apply a lot of pressure.
00:54:16So as soon as this guy goes for a choke hold, what I want to do is grab the cane,
00:54:22come up,
00:54:22and loosen up the grip a little bit.
00:54:25Okay, that's when it's loosened, now I can use the other hand.
00:54:28Turn, from here, and push, straight, and hit.
00:54:35Next one, let's adjust the technique, one more time.
00:54:40Okay, person reaches, give it, open, get under, from here, you could go straight down, using
00:54:49the cane as leverage.
00:54:51Next technique, okay, bare heart techniques.
00:54:59From here, cane could be picked up, straight up, striking through groin, grabbing it hard,
00:55:06putting the cane right over the hand, and opening up the grip.
00:55:13A little bit of fast motion, step out from here like this, strike through groin, grabbing
00:55:18the neck, pulling it straight down.
00:55:21Now we'll demonstrate some of the Hapkido's cane defenses against various weapons like knife.
00:55:26First one, the person comes in with a knife, remember, you want to kill the closest thing
00:55:32that's towards you.
00:55:33The person steps in, straight, right to the bone.
00:55:37Okay, one more time.
00:55:39The person steps in for underhand, straight.
00:55:41Okay, from here, when you hit the hand, the natural reaction is a jerky motion like this.
00:55:47As soon as they hit, from here, you might want to reach for it, put it under, maybe duck,
00:55:52and fight pressure.
00:55:54Straight under.
00:55:58Okay, the person reaches forward again, same thing.
00:56:01One, duck, and straight.
00:56:04Shut up.
00:56:13God blew up!
00:56:32Oh!
00:56:39I don't know.
00:57:05I don't know.
00:57:39I don't know.
00:58:11I don't know.
00:58:41I don't know.
00:59:11I don't know.
00:59:42I don't know.
01:00:03I don't know.
01:00:33I don't know.
